In a conversation with more than one character it would be highly convenient to have a generic way of indicating whom your next line of chat is addressed to.

I propose the emote command /address to have the following effect:

- Without target: "[character name] addresses the bystanders."
- Targeting a character: "[character name] addresses[/turns towards] [target name]."

Daevorn: go to your program files/Planeshift/Data directory (or equivalent on other OSes) and edit emotes.xml. You can add emotes there yourself! If you find something that works, let us know here and we can see if we can add it for everyone.
Until then, I will set this postponed.

Well, I added

<emote command="/address"
    general="%s addresses the bystanders."
    specific="%s turns towards and addresses %s."
    anim="noanim"
/>

to the above mentioned file and when I try to use the command now, I get a message stating ...
"Command not supported by server yet."

So the server seems to handle these things a bit stricter than you indicated, as my client now lists "address" as available emote on /emote list
