DetailsUsing the Book "Helms of Darmeth" you are able to transform a heated steel ingot into one 'Set of Steel Rings' using the anvil with the hammer. That means you are not able to do anything further with these rings. NOthing useful, and.. more important.. you are not able to transform them back into steel ingots. |
They will be useful, just save them if you cannot use them yet.
So there is no chance to transform them back?
This is unrealistic. Thob is a very good crafter. At least, he should be able to make a steel ingot out of them.
When you say that they "will" be useful, does that mean that they require a higher skill to use or that the use isn't implemented yet? typically even if you can't make an item you can still see the instructions for unmaking the item, and I don't see anything about rings, scales, or the two types of metal cloth listed as requirements for certain helms. With shield parts I could always see the process for unmaking circles and such even when I didn't have the skill to make them.
I'm operating on incomplete knowledge, however, the intention is to use the rings and plates to make armor. I don't know when that may come in--it has been two years since I wrote the books and I don't know what has been changed. (Incidentally, my early experience is that there have been changes, mostly to make it more consistent with the current game balance). Armor making should be in another book, but some armor making processes were in the helm making book because certain types of mail are used in helms. So I recommend keeping what you have made, and not making too many until you know what you can do with them.
starg: since you seem to know quite a lot already, maybe it is a good idea if you check with stelanso for the current state of crafting transformation, and possibly help him fix things (or help me close some reports by confirming things are as they are supposed to be ;) ).
Ok Lanarel, will do.
