Eye height issues in first person camera mode |
2010-09-08 |
Daevaorn |

|
When using first person camera mode, the view port/camera position is too low for most races (apart from dwarves). For Ylian and Klyros for example the virtual eye / camera position roughly corresponds with shoulder height.
Camera position should be adjusted to a characters eye height, especially when mounted, which nearly doubles the distance to the ground.
Here an illustration of the problem, a Klyros facing another Klyros:

Hi I can't come back from dr. Once at the portal, the map of hydlaa is not loaded and I switch continuously between the dr and the window for loading the new map. Had to kill myself to be able to move.
I'm using ubuntu 9.04 64 bit and I made all the updates.
Thanks

Cannot summon rivnak after server crash |
2010-09-07 |

Character name: Jinad Lackan
Server: RP
I had just gotten my 1st mount (rivnak), was unmounted and mining outside hydlaa and the server crashed (or i got disconnected, not certain). I logged in after half an hour, tried to summon my rivnak but I kept getting the message "the ring is depleted". After a couple of hours I went and raised Empathy to 2. I waited a day and still I couldn't summon it. I got my empathy to 10, a GM reseted the quest status, he gave me a new ring of familiars, but still I can't summon the rivnak.
I can summon and dismiss my familiar (/pet 0, summon) and when using numbers 2,3, etc the server properly returns that they do not exist. Only when I do /pet 1, summon I get the "the ring is currently depleted" message.
Perhaps it has to do with the countdown to summon my rivnak, that either got screwed by the server crash or a bug got triggered when I raised my empathy level to 2. I'm not sure how one could reproduce it though. |

[regression test] weather: rain invisible when camera i... |

Doing some tests near the magic shops, there are some strange effects:
- when in hybdr2, create rain
- in 3d person view, walk backwards into magicshopout
- when camera is in the portal, but the char is still in the map, the rain is gone
- when char leaves hybdr2, rain re-appears. |

[regression test] weather: fog not visible through hybd... |

Doing the tests that ask for hyoja02 (which is wrong, since oja moved, so please change that too. ANd remove duplicate tests please):
- create dense colored fog (/fog here 2000 200 200 0 0 f.e.) in hybdr2.
- walk back to magicshopout. For best effect, walk backwards. You will see the colored fog disappear, but also the whole forest in hybdr2. It seems that the new fog clips landscape (wow, I will go test this agains lag immediately :) ), even when the fog is not correctly displayed
- repeat the same with lighter fog (200 or so) and notice that it also disappears, but clipping is for larger distance. |

Weather doesn't properly fade in |

Imagine Hydlaa at night, a clear dark sky.
/rain here
All of a sudden, the sky is bright white with fog and rain starts.
The fog and the rain should fade in. Also, the default fog for /rain seems to be way too bright. It should be a mild gray in the distance. |

Weather effects not rendered properly. |

Rain is very vague to see, very transparent and gray-ish.
Snow is also very vague to see and transparent / gray-ish.
Rain used to be clearly visible and snow used to be clearly visible and white.
Now the effects are really ugly and unconvincing. Something seems to go wrong with rendering? |

Sound emitters not functioning at initial login |
2010-09-06 |
RlyDontKnow |
0 |
|
In researching another bug, I found sound emitters were not functioning at initial login. After a sector change, the sound emitters would start working. The root problem is due to the fact that the sound emitters are loaded during the handling of a sector change message when the sound manager's load function is called, which does not occur on initial login. After you change sectors, the sound manager load's method will be called in the modehandler during the sector change message handler (that's why you get the emitters working again). This also applies to background music, which explains by the theme music on login will continue to the first map until a sector change happens (as the music isn't getting changed).
I am an engine prospect and have verified with RlyDontKnow that this is an issue and have a fix for it.
Root Problem:
Within modehandler.cpp, fuction SetSectorMusic(const char *sectorname), is where
the sound manager will load a given sector. This function is not being called upon
first entry into the world, due to its triggering is based on a new sector message which
doesn't occur right after login.
Proposed Changed:
In pscelclient.cpp, change the direct call to load the new zone into a new psNewSectorMessage. This will
ensure the SetSectorMusic method will be called.

Bookshelves like in the Library for Guild houses |

It would be cool if players could buy bookshelves like the ones in the library. Rather than the player trying to set all the book items on the bookshelf that can be bought in Winch right now and making it look as if the books are on the shelf in the proper way the same dwarf could sell the shelves that look like the ones in the library. It would hold books like a container. |

Npcs don't understand when you request a quest |

I list these even though at least one already has a bug report because their symptoms are identical.
There are five quests that exhibit the issue where the quest is listed when you begin a conversation with the npc, but they respond they don't understand. When you say "give me quest" (or similar), they say they don't need any help. These quests are:
Deelor is Suspicious (already reported in 4285)

When I have my Rivnak follow me it walks too far, only stopping once it's standing nearly on top of me so my char is half hidden inside it. In this case I was facing it, see how my char's head is vanishing in the Rivnak.

I've tried setting shaders to "lowest", with no result. There doesn't seem to be a way to totally disable shaders. Given that my card has no shader support, that would be best. psclient spends a lot of time spewing out messages like this:
shader lighting_default_instance: ....10%....20%....30%....40%....50%....60%....70%....10%....20%....30%....80%....90%....100%
....40%....50%....60%....70%....80%....90%....100%
which leads me to believe it is doing a lot of unnecessary processing. |
