Crafting Helmets |

Some flaws I noticed:
1) After you made 1 Set of Steel Rings, you can't improve their Q as you can't re-heat or hammer them again. Nor turn 'em back into something usefull like ingots.
2) You can't heat up stacked helm parts e.g. 'Steel Cheekplate' or 'Helm Neck Wrap'. It has to be done one by one. Which is an annoyance.
3) After heating any of the parts, it stops at the state 'heated' unlike all other weapon parts which can be heated up to 'red hot'. Hammering the heated parts will turn 'em back into ingots, which is the next annoyance as it slows the the crafting process down even more.
4) After finishing the 'steel plate helm kit', all you can do is pray. Pray that the next two steps will not totaly screw up the final result. As you can't improve anything beyond that stage anymore. |

Check damage calculation of flaming weapons |

The extra damage dealt by the "flaming weapon" buff seems to be the same at rank 20, K=0% will 200 as at rank 100, K=100% will 200. As all other spell caps yielded integer damage values, I suspect a minor bug in the rules for this spell. Duration, mana costs etc seem to work fine.

Incomplete changes to quest "Deadly Claws for Kelicha" |

In the above mentioned quest, the dialogue now talks of Maulbernaut Talons which are to be brought to Kelicha.
The quest description, and of course the title still refer to "Ulbernaut Deadly Claws" which should be changed.
Additionally, when finishing the quest, Kelicha gives information about a gold mine 'near that Maulbernaut herd' that
one hunted. Since there are several places with Maulbernauts, this should be changed in wording to be more immersive. |

More detailled information about equipment |
2010-08-02 |
RlyDontKnow |

It would be desirable for players to obtain all or more of the technically relevant information about weapons, armor and other items that can be equipped. For now, stats for weight, size and quality are displayed in the details window of all items. Weapons only have additional information on attack delay, damage type and damage base value. Armors and shields do not show any clues about their individual properties. Therefore, the diversity and balancing of available equipment appears somehow dull and imbalanced, although it is well possible that many other combat variables are affected by equipment: Attack range, block value, counterblock value, attack value, quality of hit and - of course - effects from item enchantments (loot affixes) that do not directly alter stats or skills. Some of this information may be displayed as additional base values in the details window of an item, although it would make sense to access such knowledge with a spell such as dweomer detection or analyze. Also, the impact of an items quality or affixes on its base values could be displayed in brackets. For now, there is no such information for crafted weapons, and no base value for enchanted items.

Revise rules for attacks that miss the target |
2010-08-02 |
Lanarel |

|
Judging from the outcome of some tests on the RP server, the chances that an attack misses the target is hardly (or possibly not at all) affected by the attackers stance, the distance to the target and the equipped weapons and armor (given the same skills are associated). In contrast, some stats of the target seem to have a huge impact on this probability, as well as the skill rank associated with the attack. From an intuitive point of view, however, the chance to miss should depend more on the attackers skills and equipment, i.e. the difficulty to handle a certain weapon precisely when bearing the weight of some armor.
For the combat stat comparison between attacker and target, there are already chances to dodge and block. Therefore, a player could make more intuitive use of combat messages if the chances to miss would not depend on the properties of the target, in order to adopt his strategies. With the newly introduced ranged weapons, the distance to the target should be the main factor to determine the chance to miss with respect to the attackers skill ranks.
The last point that could be added in this context is that some mobs, such as consumers and ulbernauts are huge and bulking. A system message reading that you missed such a beast looks somewhat ridiculous. |

Lard is getting scarce |

Because Tefusang are quite resistant to attacks, a quite well combat-trained hunter is required to defeat them. But they will hardly loot the lard because it is rather invaluable, financially.
Chars specializing in cooking and especially baking will need incredible amounts of lard for many recipes, especially doug. But they may not spend just as much time in training combat skills as to be able to kill enough Tefusang to get all the lard required for their baking practicing. They start to hinge on hunters who won't profit from looting and offering lard to cooks and bakers. |

There is a grill in the corner of Archilaya's bakery in the arena which is called "arena_oven1" and used as oven. The object named "Grill" to be used as grill instead is a furnace (which, compared to Orchibaly's bakery in Akkaio, would match better as oven).
On top of that, the furnace is placed in a rather unusable position and angle.

Bulletin Board System for Major Cities |
2010-08-27 |
Daevaorn |
19 |
|
Our group of players have formed the Yliakum Advisory Committee(YAC), to tackle some of the more difficult problems concerning RPing, mechanics, and how those two intersect. Our first proposal is for a bulletin board system, for the major cities, that can support RP.
The interface for reading the bulletins would work similar to the quest window. Bulletins would be displayed by title only and clicking on the title would bring up the bulletin. Bulletin submission would work similar to the petition system where a player could pay a fee, perhaps a few circles, and then type up a bulletin to be submitted which could then be read by others.
The fee should be enough to discourage frivolous posting but not so much that it requires grinding at the mines or in hunting mobs to afford it. The board should automatically dump bulletins after a set amount of time to decrease the amount of clutter. Should a player need a bulletin up for longer than that, they can post the bulletin again. However, GMs should have the ability to remove a post at any time, post a bulletin at anytime without limit and should periodically check it to look for inappropriate posts. For players there should be a post limit per time unit for each board so that the boards aren’t spammed. Possibly even a post limit per character in regards to how many can be up at on time per board.
An additional mechanic that could serve to bolster RP would be the option for players to post their own quests via the bulletin board. A player could post a bulletin describing the quest parameters, and give over to the bulletin board the items needed as a reward(items and/or tria). Optionally, there could be a toggle that would allow the poster to display or hide their name from other players given the RP situation. GMs however should be able to see the poster’s name regardless. Then, upon player completion of the quest, whether it is delivering to the board some crafted items or looted items or some such thing, the quest completing player would receive the reward.
The items and/or trias left by the quest issuer should be clearly displayed by mechanics so that players taking the quest are able to decide if the quest is worth their time. Also, payment for posting a player quest should be somewhat cheaper than that for a normal bulletin to help encourage player quests. Should a quest not be completed before the bulletin has to be cleared or if the player decides to withdraw the quest, rewards should automatically go back to the player or to the bank for storage. A system notification should come up the next time the player logs into inform them of either rewards going to storage or a player completing their quest. Should the quest involve item exchange, the quest giver should be able to return to the bulletin board to pick up the item(s) left by the quest completing player. Once the quest is completed, the bulletin should automatically disappear.
Although we understand that adding NPCs is a hardship of some sort, a NPC that sees to the matters of this board would be a tremendous help in keeping the RP consistent. A magically self maintaining board would be a bit of a stretch, so a care taker of sorts would be appreciated. The NPC could be of an off putting nature so as to discourage players trying to interact with it and could only actually appear at the intervals of board clearing. Perhaps the boards could be cleared at regular intervals but only bulletins over a certain age would be pulled down. Regardless of the particulars of the board clearing, the NPC would not be permanently there and would just be a visual to help with RP explanations of the board system.
*Note*: Players abusing the bulletin board should be subject to being banned or otherwise sanctioned depending on the degree of abuse. |

After a crash, and you sent the report, it will show a popup saying:
"warning, you are running an old version of the client for which this bug may already be fixed. Please update to 0.5.3 using the updater."
I downloaded version 0.5.4 from the site, and then updated it all the way (just made a fresh install), before I got this error. So it is most certainly incorrect, additionally, 0.5.3 is an "old" version now, not a new one. So this is probably (semi) hardcoded somewhere, and should be changed.

In the Bjorid needs Hiccup help quest, a dialog can be started twice leading to 2 items being given out twice, one of which is a quest item which is completely useless in this case. I'm not sure if I can spoil quest details here; here's only the part of the log that triggered it:

(19:20:11) [NPC] Jana says: No, I did not keep it.
(19:20:13) [NPC] Vladovic Chel-Astra says: Oh.
(19:20:15) [NPC] Vladovic Chel-Astra says: I am sorry to hear that.
[usual dialog starts]
(19:20:25) [NPC] Vladovic Chel-Astra says: Well, let's get this potion together; [...]
(19:20:35) [NPC] Jana says: Jana places the sketch into Vladovic's waiting palm.
(19:20:36) [NPC] Vladovic Chel-Astra says: Thank you.
[usual other dialog starts; they happen in parallel, until I get both items twice]
|

Balance issues with mob resistances |
2010-07-20 |
RlyDontKnow |
1 |
|
I would like to add an explicit task for this, although I assume it is a well known issue. If this is a duplicate of a confidential task, any feedback on its progress is highly appreciated.
Observation:
The physical resistances of several mobs are high enough to make them effectively immune to all types of weapons with the current rules (on skylab).
The desired tactical advantage for different attack types (slash, pierce and blunt) against mobs is hardly relevant.
The vast majority of attack spells, however, can easily inflict damage on any type of mob.
Request:
A simple adjustment of the mobs resistance values in accordance to the lowered damage outputs will do fine for now. More sophisticated vulnerabilities and immunities to specific types of both physical and magical attacks are a feature request that I assume to require additional or altered game mechanics.
