The black screen should go away in a bit. You might need to disable GLSL.

I waited over 10 minutes it doesn't go away.
I disabled the GLSL but it didn't change anything :(

I had this black screen too. If I remember well, I turned the Anti-Aliasing to 0x in PS Launcher > Graphic.
Thought, I am on a MAC so I am not fully sure it will work there. Worth a try, I guess :)

Hello Aleka, I can't understand which gpu model is the first one ( 汎用 PnP モニター ), but I guess it's an nVidia since you have a second intel gpu. If this is correct, i.e. you have a notebook with nVidia Optimus technology, before starting the game go to the nVidia control panel. From there, under "manage 3D settings", in the "program settings" tab select the PlaneShift Launcher (pslaunch.exe) and the PlaneShift client (psclient.exe) and for each one select the nVidia gpu other than the intel one.
I hope it will work! :)

Unfortunately I'm not sure how to that on windows 7.

Thank you for the information. The graphics card is just Intel HD Graphics Family. 汎用 PnP モニター Just means generic monitor not to sure why it showed up in my speccy tool :P
Is there an issue with intel graphics and planeshift?
-
Yes, Intel graphics doesn't play well but I get by with it.
Turn down all the settings to their lowest levels and uncheck all the boxes. Be sure that sound is turned on and set to OpenAL. You can start turning up the graphics once you get logged in. It's almost like the computer and game adapt to one-another.

Doesn't matter which OS: You should look in the "Setting" page, "Graphics" sub-page of your PlaneShift Launcher.

I disabled them and now I was able to get to the launcher and update the client. Unfortunately it just gives me a black screen when I run it.
I did it but it made no difference.
Thanks for all the advice so far guys.

Try using it in windowed mode instead of fullscreen if you aren't using it already...

Here is what I get now.

Well, we can say a little step forward! :P
Anyway, which kind of character set are you using? Is something like simplified chinese or something?
I don't know honestly if that could cause problems... could you try to switch, if possible, to another one?
Look at here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/change-system-locale#1TC=windows-7 (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/change-system-locale#1TC=windows-7)

So, I thought I'd get into PlaneShift, but I too, am having this "black screen" problem on Windows 7. I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium, if it matters. Here are my specs.

Hi there,
you are using an Intel integrated graphics chipset instead of a graphics card. Those a not very good with OpenGL which is needed for Planeshift (kinda the open source equivalent of DirectX).
What makes it probably even worse is that you are using a 3.5 years old graphics driver. :o
My advice is to update that driver and then try again.
Best,
Minks
-
The most annoying issue about System Information is that it combines a lot of superfluous junk with a lack of specific details when it comes to hardware... The most interesting part is the graphic chipset. All it tells is that it belongs to one of the many "intel HD" families. One has to check further to know that this "Gateway NV57H" has a Sandy Bridge CPU with HD 3000 integrated graphics.
Summary: Office grade. No gaming graphic chipset.
And with drivers as old as 2011, I would doubt that the OpenGL features are satisfying. The DirectX stuff reported by System Information almost doesn't matter here...
HWiNFO may have been more verbose in this regard.

The black screen should go away in a bit. You might need to disable GLSL.
http://www.hydlaaplaza.com/smf/index.php?topic=40795.0 (http://www.hydlaaplaza.com/smf/index.php?topic=40795.0)
I have played with even older Intel graphics. Disabling GLSL is the first thing I would do.
-
Don't give up!
Go to IRC and see if one of the massively smart techie people there can help you find the right drivers that will allow your intel chips to work with PS- It took me a long long time, but eventually Sarva, Mordaan, Welltall and Talad himself helped me find the right driver- I have a PC with intel drivers too- so it can be done. You can get to IRC through a link on the webpage, the Chat section, go to #planeshift-gmtalk
Good luck!!
