Crash on character creation

I've already re-installed, I've ran the game on both default settings and tried lowering everything. The game just crashes when I select a race in character creation.

Not really a "gaming graphic chipset". If it works at all, possibly only with up-to-date graphic drivers (2008 doesn't seem to be most recent) with full OpenGL support (not from Microsoft Windows Update, but from intel) and special options (search the forums for "disable GLSL").

1 gig of ram might be pushing it, also, disable GLSL

I'll try disabling GLSL but I have run games with FAR better visuals than this on this PC.

I'm thinking you might want to lower the resolution somewhat. 1920 x 1200 requires quite a bit of ram. A 1024 x 768 window might work out better for you. Perhaps that is already included in "tried lowering everything" so disregard this suggestion in that case.

Games with far better visuals also have far more budget for optimized code.

Another thing that might help would be to compile the client yourself but that is not for the faint of heart.
