MacBook Pro : Crashing just before really entering the game

Good day all. Trying to get PlaneShift up and running on the machine below.
I am getting as far as just pass the static village scene, with a bit of text above and below the image. As soon as that goes away, there is a new image, and a dialog in the center, which I am unable to read as the app crashes. I have included after the machine information, the console dump leading up to the crash. I have followed the tips found at http://planeshift.top-ix.org/pswiki/index.php?title=Troubleshooting_guide_for_MacOSX , the Troubleshooting guide for MacOSX. The ONLY thing that I have done otherwise is to take the app out of full screen settings and put it into a smaller window so that I can watch Terminal activity. I can, if someone needs it, add the dump from the Mac Crash Reporter.

Hello, if I understand correctly, you aren't playing the game for the first time, are you? If so your character could be in an area causing some troubles: I notice there are several messages from "unknown object EID" until for some reason the client crashes with a segmentation fault. You could reach a Game Master (http://www.planeshift.it/IRC) and ask him if he can move you a little bit.

Have created a character, but not yet 'seen it in the world'. So, yes, playing it for the first time. Ran the update, with no change. Thanks.

Few hours later: Trashed everything, re-installed, ran pslaunch, got the update, then told it to quit. Quit failed, had to force close. Below is the crash dump of that event.

After reading other complaints here, I launched pslaunch and asked it to Repair, the results were interesting in the least. First time, it could not find it's own log files - probably as they have never been created. Second time, it ran an integrity check and found a number of missing Windows .dll files and asked if I wanted them downloaded. Of course I replied NO, as this is a Mac we're working on. Hmmm

Regarding the Windows files it happened to me too under OSX. I remember I allowed the updater to download them to see what could happen. At the end the files were unused and nothing wrong was happening: they are just a waste of time and hard disk space.
Anyway, do you have the possibility to try to log in from another (known working) pc?
I remember a day I had a problem similar to the one described (but I was in Gugrontid and not into the introduction area) trying to log in with my laptop(equipped with Windows 8.1). After some trials I logged in from my desktop pc (equipped with Windows 7) and it worked. Then I logged out and tried again with my laptop without any succes. I logged in again from the desktop and moved the char away just a little bit. After that PS has always worked fine even with my laptop.

I can't explain why this procedure solved the problem though...  :sweatdrop:

After a clean install, and tweaking the cfg files, I got into the game and !finished my first quest! . Console is still showing a number of areas of failure, These I will bring up in the AFTER forum. Thanks to all. mish
