Quests Re-explination
« on: November 13, 2008, 02:44:37 pm »
If you've accepted a quest from an NPC, is there any way to have that NPC explain the quest again? I've got some old quests that I didn't take any notes for, and I don't have enough info to finish them. I'd much rather get the info in-game, instead of having to ask about them on here.

All chat messages that your character sends and receives are stored in a text file which is continuously added to by the game client.  The name will be something like YourCharacter_Name.txt, and it should be located in either a folder called "logs" in the Planeshift directory, or somewhere in the Planeshift folder in your application data folder.

Search your hard drive for files containing the name of your character, and it should come up in the results.

I believe it's yourcharactername chat.txt, but I could be wrong.

make sure you are looking in the application support under your USER name not the one on your main hd.

[edit]
please try the following application http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?2zm0hznwdjw unzip it into any folder and double click on it, it should open another finder window with the path already filled in to find your logs and other ps related things such as screenshots, please let me know if this works for you.

Is there a similar site for Linux/Ubuntu? I couldn't find the logs in my PS folder either.

In Linux your logs are stored in ~/.PlaneShift/logs.  :)

No subdirectories?
You should have books, logs, options and screenshots.

ok I got my husband to look, and no there is nothing that is logs. And nothing that might be logs renamed that was updated within the last day while I was on PS
I also did a fully search of the PS folder and the only things that show up with log were diaLOG.xml  and LOGinwindow.xml

the logs are not in your ps folder ~ means your home folder so take a look there and . means the file is hidden so you looking for /home/<yourusername>/.PlaneShift

Sorry perhaps I didn't quiet make it clear. My husband (who is a programmer) has made a complete check of both my computer and his (where I actually play) and there is no log files for PS on either machine. He's going to check again when I am playing on his just to make doubly sure that it's not just something that only pops up during gameplay.

if you start your psclient from console you will see a message like the following
Code: [Select]
Your configuration files are in... /home/matt/.PlaneShift

this will be the path to where the log and other configuration files are located on your machine.
