Purple... click the apple icon at the top left and choose "about this mac". In the box that pops up click "displays". That will tell you. Good luck :)

I can help with other troubles I think if you want to pm me. I have a mac too.

Jewelry making.... What! There's actually a craft that has gotten my interest! From one who's rarely ever been willing to put in any time crafting anything, I'm hoping this might be... dare I say... fun? I hope the process isn't too tedious and the results worthwhile.

I'll share one favorite method I like to use for helping to quickly set a mood. First block in most of the basic coloring and some shading as you normally do. Then, make a new top layer and fill it with a color you think will work well. Set the layer to multiply (usually), and set the layer opacity to reveal as much of the underneath art as you like. Next, use the eraser tool with different brushes, sizes and opacity settings to erase away where you want the underlying art to show through more such as in highlighted areas and any other areas you want to emphasize or draw attention to. You can always go back and experiment with the overall layer opacity and shift it to alternate colors choices to see how it might look.

the inside of my head isn't THAT scary!

LOL, you know I kid you.

Anyway, it's interesting to know that I use those very same two apps for 99% of my hand drawn art. I can't make myself pay for a full version of Painter even though I'd love to have it. I use Photoshop mostly too just because I know it best. What I really like about painter is the watercolor brush effects that I haven't found a way to do in Photoshop. Artrage is really nice too but I hate that it's limited to screen resolution making it not ideal for my commercial work.

A lot of people like to use canned brush effects and textures and other automatic stuff in their Photoshop work, but I prefer to have everything made by my own hand so I mostly stay away from all the filters or things I feel I could not do on an actual canvas other than a little color shifting. I don't hold anything against people who do use all that's available, but personally, I like to know that my art is all made by me, not some fire or leaf or lightning etc., automatic texture effects.

All your art that I've seen appears to be totally you too, something I obviously like.

Unbelievable Mariana! You're proof positive that practice makes perfect! Your drawing skills have improved immensely since I've had the pleasure to know you.

Thanks as always for all your greatly appreciated commenting on my sketchy art and it's really good to see how characters like Fyrre are lovingly remembered long after their last game login!

Your art skills amaze me every time I look through this thread!
I really enjoy your style Dannae,
and I'm glad I was able to successfully lobby the players for your return! Yay!
We need more Dannaes in the world :)

  you all!

Love the expression and spazzy hand gesture, Dannae! This is wicked.  :)
TY, makes me so happy she's seen as I intended.

Thanks for drawing Fyrre with level 10 Intelligence, Dannae! :P
I draw 'em as I see 'em!  Of course, before I get corrected, I know the character is really smart once others got to know her, but she was also played as incredibly naive and so could give a first impression of simple mindedness which is the fun aspect I was attempting to portray.

It's fun to see so many new paintings from you Ara, now that you have a drawing tablet. Even though they're quick studies, and I guess they have to be to even try and keep up with all requests of your talents, at this painting stage it makes it easier to guess some of your thoughts and process toward building each composition. Or in other words... getting a glimpse inside your head... scary stuff, I know!  :D

Out of curiosity, what painting app are you using?

Well, seems a freakin’ sneaky yulbar somehow found me and and suggestted I needed to have a look in here… had to laugh about what’s happened to my old thread!

…and so, to get things back on topic, guess I need to post something…

This started out as a quick sketch of Fyrre Tigorra for those who recall her but I liked it enough to someday do it in paint. I'm not happy with the eyes and lashes, but this is not finished after all.

Not falling for any of it... he's obviously hoping to make his trail grow cold with planted lameness hearsay with the actual intention of creating additional time for ever more nefarious plotting!  ;)

Roleplaying (Communitive Storywriting) / Re: Xiosia's Gifts
« on: January 15, 2015, 04:28:22 pm »
I agree with Siteya, Jaycol... nice collection of Yliakum history!

I'm unsure how accurate it is for the appearances and kinds of gifts given. I was only aware there had been a few days of appearances during one winter before the next one in which my character was present. The first winter appearances were the ones where I'd heard tales of grand gifts such as extravagant weapons, the guild house, and skills maxed.

The second set of appearances I know of, occurred several years later, and the gift given was an ordinary charmflower. Still, many came to honor and speak their devotion regardless. It was only a number of days afterward that those who kept that charmflower, looking into their items found the flower to have mysteriously turned into a magical ring of Xiosia! I've often wondered how many who gave Xiosia their oaths in feigned devotion, cast away what they'd considered a useless gift before it turned.

Always wanted to know what became of Siteya after leaving Hydlaa!

It's a lot to read and I started meaning to skim since I was short on time but your writing got too interesting.

I posted this in the Tailor but wanted to add here too with the rest of my art.

Mac OSX Specific Issues / Re: Trouble doing new 6.3 update

Yeah, I know Pierre... Karenina   People can always download the whole installer and start from that, but using the updater is a lot quicker for me even though it might sound complicated but it really isn't and takes way less time. Took way more time to type those instructions out than to do it.

For Mac client, this is the process which seems to be needed with every new client update. It's been known and posted many times, but here it is again. Hope it helps.

Start pslaunch.app

Click “Yes” to start update
pslaunch.app starts updating, then quits unexpectedly after it saves the file pslaunchmacos.zip inside the client folder.
Move the zip file out of the “Planeshift” folder and unzip it.
Inside you will find new:
pslaunch.app
art folder with pslaunch.zip inside
data folder with gui folder and pslaunch.xml inside it

Move or copy the pslaunch.app, and the 2 zip files still zipped (not their entire folders), to the same named places in the Planeshift client folder replacing older items by the same name.

Start the new pslaunch.app file you just placed inside the Planeshift client folder
Choose “Yes” again to update and the process should run until it shows “Update finished”

I don’t know why it always has to be done this way, but I’ve had to do major updates like this for many years playing with Macs.
