Would be less intrusive if the apple sticked to the brownish theme :p

More icons, more themes! The march of progress is unstoppable (unless you happen to have a spanner).

I have a spanner, but every time I try to use it it says 'Could you please rephrase that?'  :D

Ooooh, i have something constructive to say this time.

The new icons are too bright and shiny. They bring my attention too much.
Might be the linux one is good.
The apple could be desaturated maybe.
The blue guild dont really fit, especially not with orange glow ;P. Yes, it brings attention a lot, but should it? maybe apply some texture filer to it, and make it different colors ;o
The mug looks cool, bright yes, but its like the linux one.

Please propose new icons! We are eager to add better ones. Those were used to test the new functionality of board-specific icons we added recently. Surely can be improved.

ok ;>

I been looking at the two icons at the bottom of the page:
New Posts No New Posts

and thought, they need transparency!

So i did:
New Posts No New Posts

:)

But then started wondering about what you said... and wondered, would these icons make sense if each forum will have custom ico? :s

So i did this:

New posts

and this:

No New posts

Good idea??

By the way i made transparent icons of these:

It is good to note that these times it is best to use .png format, because it has always smaller file-size than .gif

I am wondering if they might be tweaked a bit so that it is more obvious when the forum is read. For example the beer mug could appear empty when there are no new posts. Just a thought.

Rather say "usually". I bet there is a way to construct graphical data which will compress better in LZ77 (GIF) than in LZ78 (PNG).

But the compressability is in general impressive, especially with PNGOUT by Ken Silverman (one programmer of Duke Nukem 3D by 3DRealms) - included in the free IrfanView.

Transparent PNGs just have one downside: The Microsoft Internet Explorer refused to support Alpha Channel transparency at least during Version 6, and I am not sure if it finally got fixed (I don't use it anymore, except for MS updates which require WGA to download).

Iif someone is using MSIE6, that person obviously don't care about graphical details. I really except no complaining from MSIE6 users ;)
And for IE lovers there is version 7 "this so innovative"^^ browser, which do support png transparency... at least.
