Haha! Hi there!

Good to see a name that I recognize!

I was looking around at some guilds before, to see if there were any old ones... couldn\'t seem to find any that I remembered though.

Was it you that created the BISM? Whatever happened to that?

Hi there!

I just thought I should introduce (or re-introduce) myself, as I feel like a newbie to the game. I spent a lot of time here about 3 or 4 years ago, but havent been back for ages. When I was here, the community was very active, but there wasnt much in-game. We were all creating and joining guilds, and role-playing alliances and enemies, just on the forums alone. All we could do in-game was walk (The animation looked more like we were ice-skating) around this courtyard sort of area and talk to other Player Characters. And if I remember correctly, I think the male dwarf was the only character model available so we all looked identical.

So, how is the game coming along now? Is it at a stage where you can play it regularly without running out of things to do?

As I said, I havent been here for at least 3 years, so don\'t know much, but I remember these forums were always fun, and i\'m gonna download the game to see for myself how it looks.

So, did any of these get used? Are there any books in the game yet?

Events like these would be something that the developers might enjoy creating once the game is complete and in full swing. Its not the sort of thing you would start planning until then.

But yeah, these sorts of things would add a real variation to the game and be highly enjoyable... even though they\'ll be a good 5 years away.

we sure do need some old people right now

Would I be considered an old person?

Just going through some of my old links today and found Planeshift. I\'m gonna download the latest version of the tech demo and give it a go tonight.

and if you want people to even look at your guild, you may want to tell them a little bit about it, give them a reason to join your guild.

I disagree link, we are trying to create an immersive fantasy world, with all the little aspects that make life fun... like these games.

By the way, congrats on surviving your breast cancer ;)

I dont think \"dead\" is a good word to describe Planeshift. Maybe \"Not yet born\", but not dead.

OK, this is a bit of a wild idea... I dont know if I like it yet, just doing a bit of brainstorming,

How about, when you want to mine, you click on a rock like normal, then instead of being told that you have failed or succeeded (like in many other games), you are taken to another screen with a 2D mini-game (or maybe a small window that only takes up part of your screen).

In this mini-game, you would play for iron ore, and maybe the occasional rare gem. I\'m not sure how the mini-game would work... It should simulate actual mining... Maybe some sort of searching game... Being an RPG, the mini-game should not be a \"twitch\" type game.

The same thing could be applied to fishing, where you would have to try to lure a fish to take your bait... again, it should not be a fast, twitch type game.

Check out this thread on Mini-games from a while back

I think the best way to go is with a neutral guild.

(Like the Hunters of Hel ;))

That way you can go about your business without having to worry about the good/evil consequences of your actions.

The Hunters of Hel are basically a good guild, but being neutral allows us to do what needs be without worrying about whether or not it is righteous.

Being neutral allows us to stay out of the fight for good/evil and go about our own things - hunting hel (maybe meditating or trading for other guilds).

Totaly agreed about the guilds, I would like to see a lot more guild roleplaying, rather than just trying to become the most powerful clan.

About the developer set guilds;

I have never thought about that, and I doubt many people have. A very interesting concept which should definitely be explored further. I personally cant imagine having both player created guilds, and developer created ones in the same game world, but it is definitely worth thinking about.

The game gets good when you reach high levels

I only play Everquest when I get free trials, so I never really have the chance to get to those high levels, and therefore never have the chance to get to the good stuff.

As you said, it seems to be mostly about teamwork. I think thats a good thing. The biggest part of being an MMO, is the socializing and teamwork. If you prefer to work alone, then thats what singleplayer games are made for ;).

And Morrowind is a fantastic RPG... Imagine a Massively multiplayer version of The Elder scrolls...

Brings a whole new meaning to the name \"Evercrack\" :)

On a serious note, I think being able to smoke a pipe is a good idea. Most fantasy themes have some sort of plant that the people smoke. It shouldnt get you high or anything though. It would not be reasonable to use hard drugs like the ones in our world. That would just be plain irresponsible.
