Well as many of you know I\'ve been...absent....again.....for a while.  It\'s mainlyschool.  Lots and lots of school.  So I figured I create a thread to present what was able to drag me from PS.

(BTW I\'m a Computer Animation major)

I don\'t feel like sifting through all my projects so I\'ll just post the most resent pics.

This is my Shading and Lighting class Final Project, it\'s still a work in progress.  Due tomorrow actually :|

Guilds Forum / [OLD] Guild List
« on: September 30, 2005, 11:10:59 pm »
As most new people don't know where to go to find guilds and as guilds are created and destroyed quite often I will be starting a new guild list.

If you would like to add your guild to the list simply reply to this post with the following:

Guild Name
Guild Leader
Allignment
A short guild goal
Website/Contact

Any posts that do not fit this criteria will be deleted without warning.

Guilds Forum / Everyone Read
« on: September 30, 2005, 11:05:21 pm »
Apparently, in my absence, the Guilds Forum moderation has slipped a little bit.  So since I have recently returned I\'ll start cleaning things up a bit.  A few rules:

The Guild Forums are made specifically for guild creation, guild questions/information, and guild recruitment.  It is not to announce which guild member called you a loser.  I don\'t care.

The forums or for public viewing, which means if you need to get your point across to one specific person, use the pm function.

Inter-guild communication should be taken to the guilds\' own forums.

Flaming and spamming are not tolerated.  If you don\'t know what constitutes flaming or spamming feel free to ask me.  But keep in mind, I\'m the moderator, which means moderation is based on my definition.

I allow for two threads maximum per guild.  One general thread and one recruitment thread.  Any more than that will be deleted.

For those of you who haven\'t seen my method of moderating, please keep one thing in mind: I am better than you, which means my word is final.

And you older people will already know this, but as usual there is one loop-hole in my rules.  And that is to simply worship me.

Guilds Forum / Creating your Guild
« on: February 03, 2005, 07:11:36 pm »
Important! To create your guild in the game, you need to have 200,000 tria and four other people readily available to join within 5 minutes of creation! If you do not have five members in your guild within five minutes, the guild will disband and you will not get a refund. So have people ready!

Guild: An association of persons of the same trade or pursuits, formed to protect mutual interests and maintain standards.

Creating your guild should be a long but rewarding process, if done right. Guilds are not organizations of friends – that is the purpose of groups. Guilds are permanent, solid foundations built on similar crafts, goals, or ideals. ALL guild recruitment and promotion threads made in this forum section must maintain a certain degree of quality, so read on to learn how you can make your guild an eye-catching association.

Grammar and Spelling

As the only things we see here on the forums are a person's posts, that is where we derive our first impressions. With that in mind grammar and spelling are very important tools to getting and keeping members. Though it may see like a trivial matter, spelling a word right or remembering to capitalize a letter can make the difference between gaining or losing a member.  Posts that use all caps will be ignored by many and deleted by moderators.

Defining Your Guild

A successful guild takes a fair amount of planning.  It is best to take time to clearly define what your guild is about and why they exist before physically creating it.  As this is a roleplaying game, the longest lasting and biggest guilds have a reason for being who they are.  Some exist to wreak havoc, some exist to spread peace, some unite around a certain god, etc.

Along with the guilds goals, many guilds like to have a history written up. A short (or long) story outlining how the guild came to start. This doesn't mean a story about how you were sitting at your computer one day and said to yourself, "Hey!  This game roxs, I'm gonna create a 1337 guild!" The story should be written as it pertains to your character.

Ranking

Simply throwing everyone into a guild and saying, "Ok we're <guildname>" isn't going to work. Within your guild there should be numerous ranks, titles, and jobs that allow members to advance in their position. This helps you, as the guildleader, in sharing out responsibility.  This also allows you to be creative.

An example of some of the Calen Vakhar's Ranks:
Cora (Leader)
Kano (General)
Val'istar (ArchMage)
Nikerym (Captain)

Alignment

For those of you that have not been here very long, alignmments have been argued over countless times. The lines between what is Chaotic evil and what is evil and so forth have been argued over and no one has won.

This is your guild and you decide what the alignment is. If you fear someone might interpret the alignment differently then explain your definition for it. But keep in mind that you do not need to state an alignment. Think of it in a roleplaying sense: No one walks down the street saying "I'm Chaotic Neutral." Let your actions speak for the alignment.

Rules

It's always good to have a set of rules by which the guild needs to adhere.  Rules from how they should act, what they should say, etc.  Remember that as a guildmember what they do and say will reflect not only themselves but the entire guild.

The Name

Guild names should be unique and well thought out.  That short few words is what a potential recruit will first see and if they do not like the name they may overlook the guild completely.

Warriors of, Army of, or Knights of, type names are not the most creative and have been done over and over. Those take little thought to come up with. Some guild names you will notice have their names in other languages:  The Calen Vakhar (Elvish-The Green Guardians), Incensio Tenebrae (Latin-Burning Darkness)

Others have names such as: The Cabal, Arcane Order, The Mercenary Guild, The Blitzers.

The point is be original.

Finally - A Place to Put It

All guilds, large and small should have some sort of place out of game to communicate.  Whether it be forums, a site, or simply through messengers.  Preferably all of those.  All the items discussed here should be plainly set out not only in a thread here but somewhere on your site or in your forums.

For those of you who have no experience with creating sites or forums simply ask those here at PS.  There are more than enough with experience here and many will be more than willing to help out.

With all this in mind, remember to have fun.  If anyone has any other questions, please feel free to a moderator.

Well now that the Closed Beta is over do we still need the Closed Beta Forums?

I know it\'s not a big issue but there\'s still that little bug that prevents the mods from having their title and changing their avatar if they\'re a part of the Closed Beta Forums.

The Arcane Order is the biggest mages guild in yliakum If you want to join our guild, read through this thread and visit our website, after that we require each member to come to our IRC channel to have a talk with some of the councilmembers(read our pages for more information).

O.K. let me get to the revamps, recently we found many holes in our ranks so we have revamped oursystem, The council now consists of:

Arcane Spellsword  ? SnowWolf
Arcane Loremaster  ? Karakth
Arcane Nightblade  ? Axsyrus

Head Librarian  ? Ave
Headmaster of Field Studies  ? Malentor
Chief Ambassador  ? Druke

The Changes
To facilitate the management of guild affairs, a new Council has been put in place. These members will take care of any pending guild business (like promotions) and then begin the task of writing and implementing the new guild bylaws. After this has been accomplished and the guild has stabilized, members of the Order will have an opportunity to voice their opinions and make any necessary changes to the guild leadership.

The new Council is made up of the Arcane Triumvirate and three of the guild?s project leaders. All members of the Council have equal say in higher guild matters.

Ranks
or other ranks are still the same

Spellswords - This branch is for fighters who practice magical skills to aid in combat, thus Fighter/Mages. Our spellswords are our protection, the threat of their revenge serves to keep our guild at peace and Spellsword will protect fellow members on quests etc.

NightBlades - This branch is for rogues who use magic to aid improve their stealth, spying, stealing, backstabbing etc. They are thus Rogue/Mages. Nightblades serve as AO\'s eyes and ears, they provide us the necessary intelligence and subversive capability we need to survive in a dangerous world.

LoreMasters - This branch is for our pure mages, who will mainly practice their magical abilities. The LoreMaster branch is the mainstay of Mages that make AO the Mage guild that it is, however all three branches have equal status and are equally important to AO.

Projects, etc
We have many projects also in Progress such as hexaglyphs, the arcane tower construction project, the arcane library, and many others.

Roleplay is also Highly encouraged, we have many great materials in the Arcane Library many people i have spoken with say the especially enjoy Serdin\'s Diary We also have our forum based RP which takes place around the tower, and quite possibly other places.

Public Writings
We now have a new section in our Library: Public Writings
This section was created to allow non-members to have their works published in the Arcane Library.
To be able to start writing, you will have to create an account.
Once your registration is complete, your name will appear in the list of Guests in the Guestbook and you`ll be ready to start writing.

Joining
As many of you know AO is invite only, however this isn\'t ment to be a scary thing, it merly lets us sift through and find who is serious and who is not, if you jsut come to our irc channel (more on that below), or participate in other things (such as the forum rp) you will almost surely get an invite.

As always, check our homepage at http://www.arcane-order.com for more information(or just something for something to read in our arcane library) or drop by at our IRC channel, #arcaneorder @ quakenet. Or use our Irc program(applet Axsyrus can die easy now) at http://www.irc.arcane-order.com be sure to ask our arcane bot any question you may have

With that i take my leave...

The Hydlaa Plaza / MUD Enthusiasts
« on: October 20, 2004, 10:27:23 pm »
Well earlier today I got a little bored and decided to start my own MUD.  I\'ve already got the server set up and ready, but what I need are people who would like to be Builders.  Experience is preferred but it\'s not required and I don\'t mind showing people the ropes.

For those not interested in actually helping build the MUD, I do have need for artists, designers, idea makers, webhost, etc.

This isn\'t going to be a huge project, just something for other PS users to play in there meantime and you are all welcome to make suggestions and give your input and ideas.

To get a hold of me you can contact me on AIM (Idollic), MSN (Idollic@hotmail.com), or in IRC (irc.greenhouse-irc.net #PSMUD) and I will give you further details.

Guilds Forum / Elves Unite
« on: October 13, 2004, 03:58:13 pm »

Created to uphold the might and dignity of the Elven Races, the Calen Vakhar opens it\'s doors to the public once more!

Our Leader: Aendar Callenlasse
Our Allignment: Unalligned
Our Site: http://www.shadowfax.clanshosting.com

Goal:
The Calen Vakhar exists for one purpose.  That purpose is to preserve the ways of the Elves, protect our people and our land, and to provide a safe haven.

Important things to know about the Calen Vakhar:[/U]
 - We are an Elven guild and as such all members must be of the Dermorian, Nolthrir, or Ynwwn races.
 - We are an unalligned guild which means we accept members of any allignment.
 - Though, in the past, some may have stated that a race-based guild is racist, we prefer to differ.  We are not here to persecute other races, we are here simply to ensure that our races\' have a place to gather and unite under a common banner.

A Unique Guild.[/U]
The Calen Vakhar is a unique guild within the Planeshift Community.  We are the first and only Elven Guild.
We have a detailed ranking system (Currently With 22 different ranks, broken down into 9 categories!) And new ranks are on their way.
A description of those ranks is located further down in this post.
Members of the Calen Vakhar have a voice.  Many of the things you see day to day about the Calen Vakhar stem directly from the members
themselves, Which means all members have the oppurtunity to make part of this guild their own.

Our History.[/U]
Well that depends on how you look at it.  The Calen Vakhar is, in essence, a rebirth of the Elven Order.  The Elven Order was started by the same
leader, Aendar Callenlasse over 2 years ago.  But the Calen Vakhar itself was started on February 6, 2004.

Ranks
Yes that\'s right 22 ranks.  The ranking system is as follows:

Cora (\"Leader\")- This is the leader of the guild, Aendar Callenlasse.

Kano (\"Commander\")- This is the leader of the fighters.  He serves directly under the Cora and holds equal power with the Val\'istar and Tura Kurwaer.

Val\'istar (\"Archmage\")- This is the leader of the magic users.  He serves directly under the Cora and holds equal power with the Kano and Tura Kurwaer.

Tura Kurwaer (\"Master\" \"Craftsmen\")- This is the leader of the civilian ranks.  He serves directly under the Cora and holds equal power with the Kano and Val\'istar.

Yeste\'Ohtar (\"First\" \"Warrior\")- Two Yeste\'Ohtars serve under the Kano.  They each command a half of the Calen Vakhar\'s army.

Nikerym (\"Captain\")- Three Nikeryms serve under each Yeste\'Ohtar.  One for each division of the three fighting forces (Belegkhila, Cuar, Dinafea).

Belegkhila (\"Strong\" \"Follower\")- The Belegkhilas are the warriors of the Calen Vakhar.  They are proficient in hand to hand combat.  The Belegkhilas are split into two groups, one for each division.

Cuar (\"Archer\")- The Cuars are the ranged combatants of the Calen Vakhar.  They are proficient with varied ranged weapons.  Be it the bow or even the sling.  They too are split into two divisions.

Dinafea (\"Silent\" \"Spirit\")- The Dinafea are the rangers, thieves, spies, or even assassins of the group.  Whatever their specific purpose is, all Dinafea have one thing in common: The ability to be undetected.

Istalindir (\"Spellsinger\")- The Istalindir are to the magic-users what the Yeste\'Ohtars are to the fighters.  Two of them serve directly under the Val\'istar.  One commands the Akh\'faerns, the other commands the Fallaners.

Akh\'faern (\"Mage\")- The Akh\'faern are the magic-users who excell in combat magic.  They primarily study offensive spells.

Fallaner (\"Healer\")- The Fallaners are the healers of the Calen Vakhar.  Their primary spells include status effect spells and healing spells.

Seere Yaa (\"Peace\" \"Former\")- The Seere Yaa are the diplomats.  It\'s their duty to keep in contact with other guilds and organizations, forge treaties and alliances, end disputes, etc.

Tano (\"Blacksmith\") - The Tano are those members that craft the guild\'s armor and weapons.

Amanalu Kurwaer (\"Blessed\" \"Water\" \"Crafter\")- The crafting of magical items and potions is the responsibility of the Amanalu Kurwaer.

Teare Khiasa (\"Rare\" \"Nomad\")- The Teare Khiasa knows where any item is, whether it be rare or common.  They know what monsters drop what, which stalls sell which items, and where the best deals are.

Kelvar Mahta (\"Animal\" \"Handle\")- Any animals that the guild keeps are left under the care of the Kelvar Mahta.  They capture, train, and care for all types of creatures.

Mirdain (\"Jewel Smith\")- The crafting of jewels is considered a precise and delicate talent.  This task is left to the Mirdain.

Parymo Kurwa (\"Scroll\" \"Craft\")- Everyone enjoys a good storyteller.  That\'s what the Parymp Kurwa is here for, the creation of stories, tales, songs, or even historical records.

Rana (\"Wander\")- Knowing the safest or fastest route to any location is a great advantage.  The Rana are here to provide the guild with that advantage.  They know the lay of the land and delight in showing newcomers around.

Lindor (\"Songbird\")- Many a night has been graced with the soothing melodies of the Lindors.  They use their songs and ballads to entertain others.

Ondo Namba (\"Stone\" \"Hammer\")- Without the Ondo Nambe the Mirdain and Tano would have no supplies to work with.  It is their job to navigate the mines of Yliakum and collect stone and crystals.

Perhaps a diagram would help:

Rules.[/U]
Our rules are few and simple:

No member of the Calen Vakhar may harm another member, nor bring about harm to another member. The penalty for doing so is expulsion from the guild.

No member of the Calen Vakhar may harm any member of any other guild unless given permission from the Cora or they make it known that the feud does not involve the guild in any way.

All members of the Calen Vakhar are to treat others both in the guild and outside of the guild with respect.

All members of the Calen Vakhar must obey their superiors at all times. Questioning their judgement is allowed but disobeying their commands will not be tolerated.

No member may invite an outsider into the guild without first contacting the Cora.

No member may discuss guild matters outside of the guild, no matter who it is to. If a member is caught doing this, then they will be expelled from the guild.

Sanye\'men (\"Place of Law\")[/U]
The Sanye\'men exists to keep order and give every person a fair trial.  The Sanye\'men is not, however, limited to the Calen Vakhar.  Those wishing to bring a case to the Sanye\'men are welcome to do so at any time.  Cases are brought before the Namor (Judges), which consist of the Cora, Kano, Val\'istar, Tura Kurwaer, and two randomly selected Seere Yaa.
Cases can be tried with representation if need be.

The Sanye\'men can also be used in other cases such as legally binding contracts, legal advice, marriage, and third party war trials.

Those of you who are interested in joining or would just like to keep in touch with the Calen Vakhar are welcome to register at the forums.

Guilds Forum / Featured Guilds
« on: September 11, 2004, 03:37:29 pm »
Starting at the beginning of each month and ending at the conclusion of the month the community will be allowed to vote for a guild of their choice.  The guild with the most votes will have their own Featured Guild Thread which will stickied for the duration of the following month.

Now this vote is not to determine which guild is the largest so one of the rules will be no voting for your own guild.  This is to determine which guild the community thinks deserves attention.  If that is your guild then the community will vote for it. :)

This vote includes all guilds new or old, large or small.

It is possible for a guild to be nominated for more than one month but cannot be nominated two months in a row.

Each member can only vote once and any attempt to cheat will result in all the votes of that person being eliminated.

Since the month of September is already underway voting for October\'s Featured Guild will begin immediately and end on September 30.

Those of you who would like to participate can contact me through PMs, AIM, or IRC.

Comments and questions are welcome.
