Title: Some house models
Post by: Jilerel on June 24, 2015, 04:40:49 pm
I like modeling things (but I have still a long looooong way to go to be a good modeler), and I thought : Hey !! Let's make house models !

So I made house models. The objective was to make inside of houses with almost the same dimensions of their outside counterpart.

So this is the first house I've made a model of.

(Do not mind the black lines, that's just Blender telling me the edges =D)

If I were you I would inform the devs on IRC at #planeshift-prospects. They probably wouldn't want potential assets posted here.

Why would that be a problem? They've never complained about people screenshotting existing models and stuff before?

Go Jilerel, go!

Not a problem if Jilerel want to make some cool interior or draw something about PS :)
We like to see your artistic production :sorcerer:

Jilerel
Please feel welcome to come on IRC #planeshift-prospects (http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=planeshift-prospects) and discuss things you may wish to create to add to PS. Maybe you can help us fill some of the gaps of missing meshes.

Jilerel: Some time ago it was mentioned a feature was going to be the ability to form small towns and build homes (for a considerable amount of money, ofc) for the purposes of role play. I don't know if this is still a thing that is planned, but frankly models like this would be completely brilliant for it. I don't know if anyone's played the Elder Scrolls games, but in it you have the ability to purchase a house in each city and each house has a different build. Perhaps with something like this, you could have an NPC that is an "architect" who will sell different models, with the prices based on the sizes of the homes, which would be applicable with your work here.

Just thoughts. All of that said, fabulous work man. Freakin' awesome.

I think currently there are like 3 guild house interiors to choose from?  It would be nice if there was a much larger selection.  Likewise, The DR could really use some TLC... just saying.

We could certainly use an Amdeneir guild interior!

Beautiful, I want one already  :flowers:

Tell me if you agree - I'm thinking that the wood floors could use less contrast - something to indicate better that they are smooth hardwood floors.  Maybe it's just my eye, but it looks in a way like the planks are not level.

However, that same contrast (hope I'm using the word right) works really well for the ceiling, looks great and like a more sophisticated log cabin.

Anyway, I'm only saying this because you asked for suggestions, my main suggestion is to continue on as you are because these are great interiors.  Cheers  :)

How about hanging some medieval pots and pans like these on the walls or stuffing one or two in the closet or under the bed?

Those would be separate objects. Making them the same model as the house would be silly. :P

btw, Jilerel if you need some textures I'd be willing to make them for you.

Thanks, I agree with that, will change the floor contrast =D

I want the house be almost totally empty so that people can place whatever they want inside, but I might make models of pots and pans =D

Yeah sure ! Why not =)

I literally just lost nearly a whole level of souls in Dark Souls... Some a** killed me with his lag while I wasn't hollow. I'll make a wood texture and send it to you in a bit while I work out my rage. >:/

Durok talks about architecture being a choice for specialization.  There's also the Masonry skill, AFAIK un-utilized.
