The Hydlaa Plaza / Re: Any old players still around?
« on: November 22, 2008, 06:18:42 am »
Hey anybody,

I was just looking around trying to find a free mmo and I ran across planeshift again.  I started hanging around back during atomic blue, but I havent played since molecular blue, maybe early crystal blue, and I was wondering if any of the old players were still around.  I used to be in ordo illuminatis or some similar spelling.  Anyway, hi.

(I wonder if my account is still active)

Around. Define around.

EDIT: lulz, seems I'm a bit late. *grabs a diamond on her way out*

Heh, I don't know where else to post this, but it was just too funny to let go.

Yesterday, we had a field day. That's the day the barracks gets cleaned. In the Corps, we don't clean; we shine. If there is literally (no exaggeration) a speck of dust, you fail the inspection. It's a nightmare. You have to cheat, or your liberty gets taken for the whole weekend. Anyways, we got a brief by a civilian manager who runs the barracks. He... says the strangest things I've ever heard. Ever.

"All right marines, listen up. I know I've said this time and time again: Please, no more baby jaguars, in the wall lockers."

300 marines with at least 2 years of training, and not a single one can keep this expression of pure confusion off their faces. I wish I had my cell phone camera ready  :(

It's good to be back; even better than this is seeing all the familiar faces. I had poked my head in a few times before out of interest and found no familiar faces. It is more than reassuring when you see so many fellow shifties.

Ah, my favorite thread. It's always entertaining to see who still hasn't grown facial hair. I wonder if I should post anything new; my bald head might frighten everyone out of the thread  :-\

Well... after two some-odd years, I've returned. And I'm... clueless to the development of the game so far. Where I've been all this time is actually pretty interesting if you'd care to know. I joined the service, the marine corps to be exact, and am currently stationed in a permanent enough place to play the love of my online life Planeshift. It's been a while, and if anyone actually remembers me, by all means post here with lots of info on the game development thus far, and of course future progressions sure to come.

Excuse my lack of former eloquence in my current speech; boot camp doesn't give alot of time to read books and keep intelligent communication to a higher standard.

The Hydlaa Plaza / Re: What was your best April fools gag this year?
« on: April 04, 2007, 06:11:46 pm »
Well, it was a joke, but it wasn't successful...

We took a friend's trampoline and tried to sink it in his pool. For some reason it floated ???
Air in the piping probally. I remember once when I was about 8 years old, I was at the local pool for our neighborhood. It was the last day of summer, and we had been getting crap from the lifeguards all year. You see, this was pre-pubescent hijinks at it's best, and we had no concept whatsoever of the female form. While they were only 5 years older than us, it felt much older. The man was keeping us down, and something had to be done.

So, we decided to sink the lawn chairs. Unfortuanately, they took much longer to sink than expected. We got caught after successfully sinking one. Somehow that single lawn chair represented all that was gloryful, and while we were overcome, I think we all felt like our small victory was sufficient enough.

That was the greatest summer ever...  :)

EDIT: Err... well my point was this: the piping in a lawn chair and trampoline are similar, and the reason why your plan failed was most likely similar to my problem. Uh, and I guess mine was a prank of sorts too.

You know, I've honestly never done an april fools prank. All of my pranks are situational last minute pranks. The ones that need tons of planning or equipment only seem to work in the movies.

As a rule of thumb, I refuse to intoxicate myself on days when others may likely already be doing so. It's just not usually a good idea.

The ability to hallucinate and portray the world in a different fashion than it really exists isn't rare; in fact I would say everyone does it to a certain extent, every day. These people are just products of either traumatic events, schizophrenia (which is much more prevalent than many people realize) or a mix of both.

I've seriously considered humanitarian aid and such; the inner misanthropist realises, however, that my money will most likely never reach my desired destination. I don't plan to go on selfishly forever, I just don't think that these funds are the best way to help. Peace corp here I come :3

How is that a problem?

It means that saving money when you're young is not as easy as saving money when you have a career.

Well, obviously, but it's still something. Something more than you would've had, anyway...
And I think the half-your-age thing makes it clear that you shouldn't be saving that much as a young person anyway (what's 10% of a €10,000 salary anyway...)
Dinner. Tha's what.
