Well, it's still unplayable: it uses 2GB of ram + 800MB swap and combact music never stops   :-X but the framerate is decent enough

Linux Specific Issues / Re: 0.5 x64 client startup issues

if you have some of the libs used by ps (like crystal space or cal3d) installed at global level you will definitely have problems as the installed libs will be used in place of the statically linked ones and it won't work correctly

I haven't, I unmerged them.

I had the same problems with the official biranies!
pslaunch and psclient give me segfault, but if I launch psclient.bin instead I have no problems  ;)
If I compile planeshift I have no problems at all.

Edit: this is my toolchain
glibc-2.11
gcc-4.4.2
binutils-2.20

I think it's not necessary because with the infrastructure finally ready the open drivers are now growing really fast: only a month ago we had only opengl 1.4 support, now opengl2 and opengl2.2 in gallium3d branch. Opengl3 support is planned for mesa8 in the end of the year...
Furthermore, to be able to play planeshift I'm using an unstable and unreleased graphic stack from git and I already posted the trick to disable texture compression in the dri tracker and in phoronix  ;)

Why don't you open an account on github, gitorious, sourceforge or google code so everyone can checkout the latest ebuilds with layman?

I installed the official binaries: same output and same problems  :'(

walktest works like a charm (I only had to add /opt/planeshift/crystalspace-1.9/lib64 to the library path)

I opened a new topic because in the sticked one is difficult to spot new messages.
I installed planeshift using the gentoo ebuild.

Looks like it's missing a bunch of files, including shaders and textures. Is that normal ?

Thank you very much for the ebuild, unfortunately planeshift is still unplayable with xf86-video-ati and mesa git  :'(
Why don't you create an overlay?
