Well you see if someone is bugging you then you politely tell him to stop, if they persist try again, if that still doesnt work you can report it to someone who can do something about it or you can choose to ignore him and go on with your life.

The reason the loot would be random is to cut down on some complaining hopefully, its easier to complain about a thief when he gets to choose the items he is going to steal but when what he can steal is randomly picked there would hopefully be less to complain about.  As much as I wouldn\'t want this it has to be fair.

Or as previously suggested in another thread, if you steal an item, the item stays with player, in this case a merchant, but the thief gets a \"ghost\" of the item which he could redeem for a certain amount of money at the thieves guild or where ever.

I don\'t know if I missed it cause I just skimmed through the topic, but the thief stealing the items should only be able to carry so much stuff, can\'t go overboard. Possibly the loot could be random and you can only loot the caravan once, just to make it somewhat fair.  If the thief wanted to loot more items from the caravan he would have to either group with other thieves or he could buy//rent// animals to stick the loot on.

I doubt stealing the players animals would ever be implemented because of the grief it would cause, hell I doubt any of this will be implemented because of the grief, but they sound like nice ideas.

If you do want to have a better chance of getting it into the game then you have to make it fair for everyone and give a good reason for the idea.  Cover as much as possible, pros, cons, so on.

Very nice idea though.

You want to know how to really stop eating out? Work at one of the restaurants. I\'ve worked at McDonalds for 4 months and I don\'t even want to look at the food now, I have trouble eating it, its so sick after making it and being the one to cook it. My fast food appetite is dwindling down to nonexistant...The only problem is you have to eat something when your there for hours.... So here\'s my thing.

Eat Out 3-4 times a week
Swim, Run/Walk, Gym at least 4 times a week for a minimum of 1 hour each
5\'9ish, 135 pounds

Wow, thanks everyone for responding, I will definatly try everything at least once to see what works for me.  I definatly need to practice more but hopefully I\'ll be able to draw something worthwhile someday.
I really don\'t have a chosen field of what I want to draw, I just want to be able to draw in general. It\'s very calming and I love how time flies when you get into it and your really concentrating, it reminds me a lot of playing guitar, and that is very soothing for me, kinda like my form of meditation I guess. Well this week I must go get myself a sketch book and start practicing. Well thank you all very much for your ideas, hopefully they work for me.

Fan Art / Help on Pencil Drawings
« on: September 08, 2004, 08:39:31 pm »
Ok I\'m not a great at drawing but I do like to doodle and I joined my art class to hopefully help me out a bit, right now our teacher has placed a bunch of african masks piled together with them looking out at you and we are suppose to draw what we see, now my biggest problem so far is, the paper is flat and what I see isn\'t... it kinda starts turning on me and I can\'t seem to capture that whole motion. Can anyone give me some advice??? I\'ll probably need to practice more, and I will have the chances with this class. We have to draw around 24 drawings of things at home so hopefully I can get a few things down. Help would be greatly appreciated....

So far this program seems to be very neat, unfortunatly I can\'t seem to get anything to come up when I search, I\'m assuming it has to do with either my router or the firewall... both of which I know absolutely nothing about hehe, well this should be fun....

ok this may sound stupid but why is everyone afraid to use kazaa? I\'m not one for keeping up on stuff like that..  Ooo and anything by Bush, Cold, Blindside, Taproot is not to shabby, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Incubus, and some of Dave Matthews Band, is good listening.

You know one of the only reasons that war was won was on a hell of a lot of luck on D-Day and yes sure that helped a lot with the Russians but they were do to kick Germany\'s ass sooner or later and sorry to tell you but your comment on who lost the most men is completely wrong. America, if anything, had one of the lowest death rates in all of the countries that were involved in that war, and hell the only reasons they got into that war was because some of the ships that the Americans sent (only to hold wounded soldiers) were sunk and because Germany sent a letter to Mexico, I think it was Mexico, stating that they would help Mexico take back land from the Americans. So if it wasn\'t for those things and a few others then they would never have even joined the war.

You know probably no one will get this right unless they were there at the time and even then they would\'ve had to be there at every big and small decision, every battle, so forth. Everyone of us has had a different teaching on this war and none of us have all the facts so why is this even going? For pride? You have your views, I have mine. But really, a lot of the stuff we all seem to agree on so don\'t say that America did all this and all that because they obviously didn\'t. Any country that helped stop the war is going to glorify what they did.

Edit. Well hell I feel like an idiot posting this after Acraig did but I was writing it at the same time he was...

Flippy, no offense but you are leaving out Russia, the Russians helped a lot in that war, and it was only because the USA came into the war and because the Germans betrayed the Russians that the war was won, I\'m pretty sure the USA and England and Canada came down from one side and the Russians came in from the other, so everyone gets credit.  Well I think thats what happened... hehe

Yes Hitler would have been dead but what about the affects he would have left on our societies, he could have screwed things up so bad or possibly have left an even crazier fanatic in charge after his death.

Now like someone else said, \"no country is without its faults\", so really everyone in here should back off, I\'m from Canada and I know our country is not perfect, the USA isn\'t perfect, all of Europe isn\'t perfect, Russia isn\'t perfect, I\'m sure you get my point. You can find many faults in each countries government, but you know what, the government is made up of only so many people that the majority voted for, what about the people who lost, they don\'t share the same view yet they get screwed, or the people who may agree with one party over the other just on certain points. NO ones ever going to get an absolutely perfect country because not everyone\'s views will be reflected. So really to say that Bush is so good because he\'s doing this and that, that is your opinion, what about the opinions of others, how many people protested that war? How many people couldn\'t make it to the protest? How many agreed with it? And don\'t go out and show me some big fancy survey because those depend on how many people took it, hell it could say 80% of Americans are for the war and maybe only 2 million took it, a little unrealistic but oh well you get my point, People are impressed by fancy surveys and big numbers.

Now I think I have gone off track but oh well, everyone\'s criticizing governments and I wanted to put my two cents in.

Karakth I\'m not trying to put you down or anything but you are not that old, you haven\'t been in a \"serious relationship\" where you think you love someone and then it breaks up. It seems to me like your really against those but they are very important in life as they teach us many things about ourselves and about people. You may think you know who you are and who you want to be but until you\'ve been in a relationship like this you \"have not fully developed\" I guess you could say...

Now I\'m not putting down what you believe or am I saying that what you think is wrong or, even though it sounds like it, you don\'t know yourself but there are a lot of life\'s little experiences and lessons out there that will shape who you are and your life. I am not that much older then you and I\'ve been in two relationships that I consider serious. They were absolutely amazing even though they never worked out. Each girl I was with taught me something new about myself and helped me start to become the person I want to be, they taught me new ways of looking at life and at people, they taught me about different feelings and my strengths and weaknesses and I can honestly say I do still love them and if they every needed me I would be there as soon as I could. I know that I am still not complete, that there is much more in life for me to learn and this will shape who I become, I also know some of these things will come from relationships where I think I am in love but I really am not. I know I will get hurt but that is something I am willing to live with and get over on my journey of life. I\'m just saying that with every relationship there is a lesson no matter how big or small. I\'m not saying jump into as many relationships as possible so you can learn all these lessons, but that you should actually try a couple.

And you comment on divorce... I understand the whole \"this is broken we need to fix it\" because I do that all the time and it usually ends with me getting my heart broken, but I also know that if I am not happy in what I am doing and that this can bring down me and what I want in life that I have to cut my losses and move on. Sure I would love to work out the relationship but if it can\'t be worked out, and yes some things can\'t be worked out, then you have to move on. You may think something is wrong, they may not. What will you do then? If I offended you in any of this I didn\'t mean it and it\'s early for me so if this makes no sense then sorry.

Go out, have fun, meet girls, have relationships, learn things about yourself and about people and the world and the ups and downs.

The whole thief guild idea is a good one make it so you have to do go to the guild right away upon making you character so you don\'t have people with good stats doing the same challenges and kicking their butts as people with low stats. Then you have to find the guild, make it somewhat of a challenge so you can knock off some of the pesky people, then when they finally get into the guild and find the guild master they have to steal something from a certain NPC, this would also be somewhat of a challenge but not that much since you are just starting out. After you\'ve accomplished these tasks then you are accepted into the thief guild but you start at the lowest rank. At the lowest rank you have to give so much of what you have stolen to the guild and after stealing from will say about 20-30 people you move up to the next level in the ranks. At the next level you owe your guild a little bit less of your earnings but it is now harder to attain the next rank.

Now stealing from PC\'s and NPC\'s is allowed but you do not exactly steal the item you more or less steal a shadow of an item or a tag and you can bring these tags//shadows to your guild and recieve money for them. There is no stealing of large or heavy objects, anything bigger then a dagger for weapons is to big other things use common sense on what is to big, no stealing armor, no stealing large amounts of money, gems, rings, glyphs, whatever those little things are. At the most you can only take 50 tria or so about 3 or 4 gems maybe, a ring or two, a few glyhps. Mind you this amount you are stealing is per attempt, their should also be a maximum attempt for stealing from each player maybe twice at the most per day, possibly week. And remember you are not exactly stealing these items but rather shadows or a tag for this item, so the PC\'s//NPC\'s still have these items. So their should be no grief. Thieves can only steal from people who are standing still or walking, not while the PC//NPC is running or is fighting and such. The degree of getting caught depends on certain stats, the higher the intelligence//wisdom//dexterity of the thief the better chance of getting away with stealing, the higher the intelligence//wisdom of the PC//NPC is the chance of catching the thief. If the thief fails and is caught he can run away and the PC//NPC has the option of chasing down the thief but what\'s the point? It\'s not like you lost anything. If the thief is caught they are taken to a jail where they are stuck for so many hours. You can accomplish this by banning that character for the select amount of hours. The accounts are not banned because you truly haven\'t hurt anybody with this system.

You can break into stores//houses and steal stuff from the owners but remember its only a shadow. Oh yeah and this shadow can only be redeemed at the thief guild and it only can be redeemed for money, you don\'t get the things you steal, just their worth. Which can be used to buy other things!!!!! How wonderful!!!

Now you can make the amount of thieves smaller by making the amount they must give the guild a large percentage but not too large since you don\'t want to discourage even the hardcore theives. Maybe put a restraint on how many people can join the thief guild per month, say 100? well the devs choose, something that goes with the number of players playing. Make the option to pickpocket only available to those who have gone to the theif guildmaster and accomplished the task.

Now I think I covered everything, if I see anything else I\'ll post it. I\'ve stolen some ideas from other people but whatever. It\'s something to look at and work with if people want, there doesn\'t seem to be any grief in how I see it, but like I said maybe I missed something. This is just a rough idea so far, I think I will come back and look further into it later on and have some new ideas.
There is no looting of corpses in any of this so all of those people don\'t worry about that. There is no stealing of large amounts of things, no stealing large things at all. And hell not really stealing at all, just shadows or tags, so their should really be no complaints on that end.

PvP,PK and Thieving / Paxx please answer this.
« on: July 06, 2004, 01:51:18 pm »
Paxx if you are still around here and looking at stuff, I was wondering if you could tell me if all of the things concerning pick pocketing, thieves, pros and cons for being a thief, etc. been figured out yet? Like will it be worth me trying to do a character like this or should I just stick to being a blacksmith? I know there\'s been some discussions on this but I haven\'t really looked into it since you had that whole \" you guys aren\'t giving us full ideas that are balanced and make everyone happy\" speech. So I was wondering if you could clear the air about all that for me. Thanks bunches if you do, appreciate it.
