Roberet's Tale
« on: January 24, 2008, 08:22:33 pm »
The peaceful wind brushed through the yellow wheat fields and into the the farmhouse. It brushed against Roberet's cheek as he read, sitting on his wooden chair, resting the book on his old wooden table. As he felt the wind, he looked outside and saw the the gleaming rays creeping under the everlasting wheatfields and beyond the hills.

Loud footsteps creek down the stairs. Those loud footsteps are those of Roberet's brother, Arco. He wears thin leather clothes with dirt on his shirt.

"Tavern time?" Arco said, smiling. Roberet nodded and closed the book then stood up with a smile. As the two walked down the dirt path through the open field, Roberet had an ever widening smile on his face as they neared the tavern. Arco noticed.

"What are you smiling about?" he said, kicking some of the dirt from the path. Roberet's eyes looked up to Arco then back down as Arco awaited the responce. "Ah. She will be there." Arco said, brushing some of the wheat on the field. Roberet nodded, still smiling. They had reached the tavern.

It was in the village center, if one could call it that. It had the tavern and the blacksmith's shop. The tavern was a modest building with a thatched roof and eight windows - four windows on each level of the tavern. The building's walls were solid oak. A lake gleamed behind it with a small island at its middle, and big oak trees decorated the whole of the shore.

Roberet lead the way into the wooden entrance of the tavern with Arco following behind.

[ Tell me what you think about that small piece, more will come. Learn a little more about Roberet]

So far I like it. However you might want to check the tense in the first few lines.

This is a good beginning Robertet. Maybe a spell checker is in order. Keep working on it. I suggest reading it many times to yourself to make sure you like it before posting it. I look forward to more.

The tavern was lighten up by numerous candles on the walls, with the bar right at the back of the room, with a dwarf stood on a stool serving punters. A fire burns on the   left to   bar, around the fire there is a circle of chairs with a gap in the middle. The floor is of wooden panels, ever odd one, if stepped on, will make a slight creek sound, but that is usually outdone by sounds of merriment  by the village folk and any others who  go to this hub of the small farming village  community.

The bar had six wooden stools, three of them were taken, two of them were taken by simple cloth clothed Yilian men and the finally one, by a Yilian female who wore a simple white cloth dress.

Roberet and Arco walked to the bar, while a Ynnwm by the fire looks at them and says “Ah two of the Goldsmith Brothers and where is the other three eh?” Roberet stayed silent looking at the female yilian on the stool. Arco looked at the Ynnwm
“They will be here soon enough friend”

The Female ylian looked around at Roberet, she had an unblemished face with rosy cheeks, brown eyes, with  teeth like pearls.

Roberet walked up to her, put his hands around her hips. They kissed while the female ylian put her hands around Roberet’s hips.
“I’ve been missing you Robbie” She said smiling

“Ari, I’ve been missing you too “ Roberet said looking deep into Ari’s eyes.

“You only saw each other yesterday” Arco Interrupted.
“That’s a whole Twenty four hours, little brother, lot of time for the one you love” He says still looking at Ari

The night progressed, the tavern was quite busy and very crowded, all the farmers had come, they were mainly Yilian and Enkidukai farmers,  though they had their disagreements, it was usually dealt with at the end of the day by a pint in the tavern.

“C’mon lets get out of here Robbie; it’s too crowded here for me" Ari said winking and grabbing his hand. Roberet finished off what was left of his ale.

[Once again tell me what you think, also grammar wise punch holes through it :D:P]

I am enjoying it so far. Your building your story well. You discribe what is going on in the surroundings of your characters, and you explain their emotions and actions well. This helps a reader stay interested. Keep up the good work and I look forward to the climax of this story. Indeed your writing holds promise.
I've been outside, it's overrated and the graphics suck!

   Part Three

Behind the Tavern was  quite and peaceful, the lake was gleaming in the night shine, surround by trees, bushes and greenery, dotted in the lake was white Lille pads. . In the middle of the lake was an island, with trees and bushes around it, with a small patch of smooth grass in the middle.

Roberet and Ari were overlooking the edge holding hands.

"C'mon lets swim to the Island" Ari said smiling looking at the Island. Roberet look at Ari, staring at her face
"You sure?" He said griping her hand
"What, afraid of getting  wet?" Ari replies, she looks at Roberet giving a suggestive wink. Roberet's eyes widen at the     prospect of what might happen.

"Well in that case Ari....I hope you can keep up"   Roberet said and with that he waded into the lake a started to swim.

"Hey! No fair, that’s a head start" Ari shouted and started to wade in a swim to the Island.

After some frantic swimming to the tiny Island in the middle of the lake, Roberet sat on the island, cold but warmed by the sight of Ari laying beside him. Her white cloth dress was now trenched, wet through.  She had thrown her wet brown hair back, her  beautiful face fully shown.  Roberet was also trenched, his Goatee wet through along with his brown hair. His clothes, also fully soaked.

"Beautiful night isn't it?" Ari said looking upwards. Roberet look down at her

"Beautiful Girl" He said stroking Ari's cheek.  She grabbed his hand and moved it down to her thigh. They both looked into each others eyes

"You sure" Roberet said calmly. Ari bite her lip, let go of his hand and nodded.  Roberet's hand moved up her leg, taking the wet dress with it reveal Ari's unblemished leg.

Now before this breaches onto to soft word porn, lets stop the description. But nature took its due course, the birds and the bees. Screams of pleasure could be heard, luckily the lake was usually deserted night time, usually....

[ Again poke holes through it and tell me what you think :)]

I absolutely love it. I cannot wait for more. You leave us with our imaginations running wild. Not always does a story have to tell everything. Actually a good story makes the reader think. Great job.  Keep it coming Robertet.

The next morning, the couple woke up still in the island, the morning light  gleamed off the lake, the once loud and energetic tavern was now  empty and as quite as the fields surrounding the area. Some smoke could be seen  beyond the lakes around the  fields. And the only sound was the banging in the blacksmith, which was on going.

Roberet rubbed his eyes, while Ari put back her cloth dress back on

"Now, you are only going to get that dress soaked again" Roberet said, while putting his shirt back on. Ari look at him with a raised eyebrow "Well, why are you putting your shirt back on?" she said expecting a predictable response

"I don't want to stroll into the village half naked, do I" Roberet replied smiling
"Well there you go then, I don't want  to be showing off my......ankle now would I?" Ari said laughing
"I don't think they would be looking at your ankle" Roberet laughed

They began to swim back to the village as they walked up to the beaten dirt path ah Ylian figure ran towards them

He stopped by them, it was one of Roberet's brothers...Brust, an older and far more muscular figure than his fellow goldsmith, wearing chain mail all around him, it  had a polished look to it.

"Brother....the fields! the crops! They are in flames!"

Roberet's eyes widened with alarm... he looks at Ari "Some one must of seen us last night....."

You see Ari was something of a forbidden fruit, one of the most beautiful girls in the community...also was the most ..protected shall we say. She was part of the kilingaru family and her father... was quite the influence within the farming community and protective man. He announced quite a while ago that if any were to "have his way with her" were to be inflicted the harshest of punishments.
Anyways back to the story

Brust  kicks the ground in frustration " You bloody idiot!" His face reddening "You fully well knew what would happen if you went with her and you did......." Brust grabs Roberet by the arm "Come see what your  night of pleasure  has done"

Brust holding Roberet by the arm walking faster and faster as they come nearer the smoke with Ari following behind them trying to catch up.

They finally reach there destination Brust letting go off Roberets arm

 "See" Brust said

The fields were ablaze and the farm house alight with fires.  Roberet falls to his knees, as black masonry falls to the ground. He looks up with tears down his face "Oh good Laanx....why....why" Acro runs up to Brust with a red face
"We can't salvaged the fields, the wind has spread them on to our crops...we just about can hold it to our fields, father is trying the salvaged some equipment"

Ari looks at Roberet   ".....Sorry...sorry for my father"

A grey bearded man walks up with a spade and some books "Thats all that’s left..." Brust looks at him "That all dad?"
He nodded, feeling a crest around his neck...his hands black with dirt.
A Ylian with ginger hair walks up, wearing  leather armour he says smirking
"You shouldn't of touch my sister...looked what happens..."
The father looks up at the Ylian  and walks to him "You tell that father of yours that he will pay for this!" He said coldly
"Yeah right  you are too old now...ole' Victor Goldsmith" The ginger Ylian kid said laughing while walking off.

Victor, the head of the Goldsmith family looks at him walking off "Brust...get your brothers....time we went to the blacksmith....heads will roll"

 [Once again etc]

A day  has gone by....

The grass on the field shook violently, the far away trees swayed from side to side,  the banner that had the goldsmith family crest on it blew from either side. Te slight movement of amour could be heard along with the deep breathes from the goldsmith clan.

Thirty yards infront of them, were the Kilingaru  clan along with many other Ylian farmers, with polished armour and pristine weapons. A rather large man stood out, wearing armour with lines of gold around it , grabbing his helmet by his right hand and his axe by the other. For you see this was the head of the Kilingaru family, Tyranong Kilingaru. He moves a couple of yards.

 He shouts

"Today  a battle is to be held" He points his axe at the Goldsmith clan "Between the troublesome Goldsmith horde" He then points his axe sideways " And the honest Kilingaru  Family "

  Meanwhile at the village Tavern...

"This is not right, the Goldsmiths don't have a chance, they are terribly outnumbered" A black haired Enkidukai  said, sitting on one of the bar stools sipping some ale from his mug
"This isn't our fight Nethanel, Ylian farmers quarrel, it is not our problem" An older simulaily looking Enkidukai replied, he continues "We would lose favour with the Kilingaru family and thus most of the town,"
"But still it is not right! We were good friends with the Goldsmiths, are we to let them die in a pool of their own blood in the middle of a field!?"  Nethanel said alarmingly, clearly wanting to do something
"If it mu-" The older Enkidukai was interrupted
"I think we can" A white hair Enkidukai said standing near the fire "You see the Kilingaru rely on us  Enki's for the harvest, to sell to Hydlaa" He turns to the older black hair Enkidukai "Check the books lately Gophk?" He takes a deep breath "The power is in our  hands Enki's". By this quite a few Enkiudkais had started paying attention to him "I say that this a golden opportunity for us Enki farmers, to stop being over shadowed by that Kilingaru family, to tip the tables in our favour?"

A red haired Enkidukai steps out of the crowd, he wore some tattered leather armour along with a curved sword "Well, shall we". The crowd of Enkidukais nodded with some grinning at the prospects
Then a sudden rush as Enkidukai's rushed to be prepared, running out of the tavern.

Back to the Field

"Today! will be your final bow, Goldsmiths, any last words?" Tyranong Kilingaru Shouted

Victor Goldsmith, with the white beard cut for this occasion steps ever so slowly   "Tyranong.....your grip on this community will end soon..." He turns to his Goldsmith Family "You and  I must fight for right, You and I must fight to survive!" He turns back to Tyranong "My lively hood is gone , by your hands, I shall repay that , with me ending  yours" He shouted with a stern look on his face, his wrinkles even seemed to disappear slightly.

"Ha!" Tyranong said.   All the sudden a Beating Drum could be heard from the distance. Both sides looked to see where the sound came from , A disorganised march from the Enkidukai  was where the sound came from, even their footstep could be felt from the ground. A Enkidukai could be see running quickly towards the Goldsmiths, he reaches them a whispers to Victor Goldsmith "Were here to lend a hand"   The Enkidukai said panting.

Victor smiles looking towards the  Kilingaru clan "Hear that Goldsmiths seems were not the only ones  that have come for a fight against the Kilingaru"  . A massive roar immediately came from the Goldsmiths

"We can win this now" Arco said to his brothers

I must say I am impressed. You got me hooked till the end! Lil faulty with the grammar, but you can sort that out afterwards (or I could do it if you like)...You just keep the inspiration going.

And just to put this into perspective... to say I'm hooked about a story is like saying Hemione hates reading. It just doesn't happen.

Last book I read more than the first 3 pages of was back in the year 2000 XD

Keep it up mate.

The swinging of axes could be heard along with the sound of swords clanging on shields. The ground for which  the fallen has fell was stained with blood.  The Tavern was empty and silent all that could be heard  in the village was the deafening clanging of the lone dwarf blacksmith .

The situation for the Goldsmiths was  not a good one, despite the help from the Enkidukai farmers, it was not much.  Two of the Goldsmith Brothers had already fallen, Krlern Goldsmith and Benjamin Goldsmith, lay dead.

Victor Rushed to Roberet and Arco

"Get the heck out of here, I want someone to continue the Goldsmith line, you two go!"  Victor shouted amongst the heat of battle , his wrinkled face was now bloodstained, he looked  tired the drudgery of battle had  made him fragile  but still defiant.
"No! I refuse to run" Shouted Arco fiercely
"Me too! I caused all of this!" Roberet Shouted  in agreement with his brother

  Victor shook his head quickly

"Just go, I'll send Brust as soon as we can take care of these lot, go to Hydlaa, find a job or something  like that......the Goldsmiths don't have anything here anymore!"

Roberet had a tear in his eye, he quickly brushed it away
"Then what are we...fighting for!"
Victor stood still for a moment and looked at Roberet,   he dropped his sword and put his hand on Roberet's left cheek
"For Pride son, thats all we got left" He  held his hand their for a moment then picked up his sword "Now both of you , scatter! Go to Hydlaa now!, I'll see you when I see you" He gave a quick nod then joined the fray

Arco and Roberet looked at each other
"We gotta, pop said " Arco said losing his voice a bit
The two ran off , that was the last time they saw Victor Goldsmith or   the Killngaru family.

The rest of the Goldsmiths were defeated along with the Enkidukai farmers. Victor was killed on the spot along with the Rest of the Goldsmiths except for Brust Goldsmith who managed to escape in time.
That was the last of it, or so Roberet thought

Because perhaps, that night on the island in the middle of the Lilly pad covered lake, behind the tavern. That night , might just come back to haunt him...

                                                                              End
