Technical Help: IN GAME bugs (after loading world) / Crashing in Death Realm

Well, this is frustrating. I just got the game to the point where it would at least let me play, but once I died and went to the Death Realm, the game started crashing immediately and won't let me do anything. I know it's specifically the Death Realm because when I start up an alt, even though it might still crash sometimes, with enough persistence I can get the game to play. But the Death Realm won't let me do anything.

So, I finally managed to get the game more-or-less working on my current computer. (It still crashes a lot, but I can at least play before it does so). It's been a long time and I see some things have changed in the meantime. How are things?

So recently my computer's hard drive broke and I had to get it replaced. The computer guy offered to move it down to XP from Vista since it's faster, and I said sure, why not. Then recently I thought, hey, the reason PS wouldn't work on my computer before was that the drivers didn't go forward enough and there weren't any Vista Omega Drivers. So I wondered if there were some for XP. And there were. So now PS is working on my computer and I can play again.

Awesome.

Now I need to work out what's changed since I was here last...

The Hydlaa Plaza / PlaneShift in Audiosurf

So I just recently got this game Audiosurf... it's pretty neat. It could sort of be described as a cross between Tetris, F-Zero, and Guitar Hero... sort of. Anyway, the point is, that it's compatible with .ogg files, so of course as soon as I read that I went straight off to play the PlaneShift soundtrack in it. It works out pretty well, and definitely gives you a new appreciation for how great the music is in PlaneShift, when you're playing a game that goes along with it...

Ere's father Hivire was there, dressed in his finest, glittering plate armor. And Ere was there too, with her leather ranger armor and her little sword.
"Let's train, Dad! I want to be strong!" said the little girl.
Her father laughed happily. "Right, let's train, Ere!"
He swung his sword playfully at Ere, she brought up her own to defend- her sword was smashed to bits!
"My sword! Dad, you-"
Hivire laughed again, this time a cold laugh. "Looks like you're not strong, Ere... Not strong enough to protect Nal from me!"
It was Alirukell within Hivire's armor now, giving Eretelien a demonic smile beneath his icy eyes. He thrust out his palm at Ere and a pain blazed through her forehead- she turned around, unwillingly, and saw her best friend Nalelack...
Her sword was whole again and she drew it forth, unable to control her arms as she swung for Nal's neck- both children with tears in their eyes...

Ere gripped her pillow tightly as she woke with a start in the middle of the night. Already, she didn't quite remember all that had happened in the dream- but she was scared nonetheless. She looked to the opposite bed, at her adopted sister Saelii, and smiled. She would become strong. Maybe even strong enough to fight Alirukell someday...

Technical Help: Problems BEFORE entering the game / Update won't be recognized

So I just ran the updater, and it seemed to get through it (I ran it twice in a row to make sure everything got updated) but the game still says I need to run the updater... but I can't because everything's updated apparently! What should I do?

Fan Art / PlaneShift Creatures in Spore Creature Creator

So the Spore Creature Creator came out recently. I got the trial version and eventually decided to see if I could make any PlaneShift creatures in it. I couldn't make a groffel unfortunately but I could if I got the full version of it... I did however make a Clacker and a Tefusang. Anyone else up to trying some?

General Discussion / Too many black cloaks!

Is it just me, or do way too many people in PS wear black hooded cloaks? It's getting really annoying. I don't know if people want to look evil or whatever, but there's better ways of doing that than looking like a Nazgul... Seriously, have some originality.

I'm doing a quest and I have to give some tria to an NPC and he won't take it. I would have thought it was a conflict with another quest before, except that I was able to talk to one NPC and continue a quest while I had another quest involving him... Also, the other quests I have don't seem like they would logically involve the NPC I'm having trouble with.

I just recently decided that I was kind of bored so I'd come back to PS... But I come back to find there's a new version out, and you can't just update from the old one. And there aren't any direct downloads available, only a torrent. This would be fine with the Mac version, but I'm on my PC laptop now and BitTorrent doesn't work well at all on that (Something to do with ports and/or a firewall or something like that... This college really doesn't want people downloading stuff illegally.) So I'm stuck waiting for the direct downloads to show up.

OK, so due to me being at college and having some kind of firewall thing, BitTorrent won't work well for me... So I tried to get the new Windows client through one of the direct downloads, and NONE of them would work. Help please!
