General Discussion / Re: Non-English Speakers Wanted
« on: September 19, 2009, 11:24:27 am »
A few questions about some terms and phrases:
Instant Cast - casting metal or casting spells?
Third Person Lara - Lara?
Mesh - can it be plausible to call it structure?

Is it just me or are there are lot of the similar phrases that are repeated? Can I ignore them/remove them or fill them in as well?

Just took a quick glance at the translations so far. I noticed we have swedish and although it is a bit similar to norwegian, there are many terms and words that are as different as night and day. A sweet swedish person is a strange norwegian one and so forth. I can probably make a norwegian translation if it is wished for?

General Discussion / Re: The Correct Description
« on: September 18, 2009, 09:08:59 pm »
A very good point imo. In a game that is supposed to very much evolve around RP it's important to give the people you interact with freedom to interpret you the way they decide. Stating that you wear a cloak would, in my case of RP at least, make me a bit vary of the person and why they have decided to cloak themselves. Other things mentioned in the description might lead to good dialogs and RPs about the person's background and history, a great way for storytellers to have a startingpoint!
Of coarse with much not implemented yet, people will have to use their imagination. And we can all agree that we at least got a little of it, you wouldn't play videogames if you didn't. At least not one with stonepeople and blue wingy thingies ;)

That being said, a trait I've wondered a bit about: The Dark Way is said to have some kind of bad/unfortunate effects to the ones who have great knowledge of it. Do they mean physical alteration or mental? For now I'd say this is up to the player, just don't overdo it and levitate with black eyes and speak with 5 voices at once as the surrounding area drops in temperature.

Starting point duly noted and I've rewritten my description a bit from what it used to be ;) I haven't changed my background or history, just taken out the storytelling and added items/frequent actions instead.

"You see a proud Klyros with a gentle look, but black veins run through the translucent skin of his wings. He also have a small scar on his right wing.
He wears a small pendant showing a pair of widespread wings over a faded badge of The Warriors on his chest. His right arm armor is filled with Enki tribalmarkings.
He will seem irritated at the mentioning of gods or in the presence of divine or blessed objects.
He is often found singing or humming to a tune by the band "Klyros Ulber Farm". "

At the end a little bracket with what languages I speak. I have previously found it to be useful for others who aren't necessarily most comfortable with english and have problems asking about game mechanics and such using english.

General Discussion / Re: A Commander, or a Leader?
« on: September 18, 2009, 08:45:12 pm »
I'd like to look at this with a RL example:
Before the industrial revolution with the big factories coming, the relationship between the worker and employer was of a familiar nature. The employer would care for the worker and make sure he was generally happy with the situation.
With the industrial revolution coming and big factories took over, the employer didn't have the time or memory to keep track of all the workers, so the relationship became more authoritative. This is when the unions was formed to make sure that the individual worker had rights and wouldn't get trampled on.

Now if we set this into PS we get that small guilds will most likely benefit of a Leader as defined earlier. The bigger guilds however might benefit more of a Commander with a "union" consisting of trustworthy members that more or less are dealing with everyday business and report to the Head of the Guild. With more people in a governing position, the closer you'll come to them being individual Leaders.

Just my two tria :)

Newbie Help (Start Here) / Re: training pet?

Try clicking the specific rat you want it to attack and type /target rather than /target rat. The pet might target a rat that is far away for some reason (maybe the rat with the lowest coding ID or something like that?).

General Discussion / Re: A Reference: PS Curse Words

In this topic http://www.hydlaaplaza.com/smf/index.php?topic=23667.0 under Words of the Klyron Language you will find the expression "Galerazi!" which is used as a curse word and can be used to curse someone aswell. Not very useful to other races though, unless you get into a fight with a Bluey Wingy Thingy ;)

My honest opinion:

Leave it to the devs to debate and come up with a decision. We could right Gigabytes of text debating what we think is right, end of the day, their call.

I agree, but I will say this. For the sake of RP-ing and the Story behind some of the races in the game, all of them can't be religious.
As some of you know, I play a Klyros. I've read the Klyros Lore and the Story written in here as well. Based on that, I believe that any Klyros with a little knowledge of it's own history, would have learned from previous mistakes and run in the other direction whenever a god decides to show up. With Ilgareth (from Klyros Lore), they worshiped her and she was a good god/deity for some time, like Xiosia is right now. But then she changed and nearly killed all and destroyed the world the Klyros originally came from. So they go into the portal and on the other side they meet Laanx, which they now won't worship. Laanx nearly kills all.
The Klyros have every reason to not worship a god. They certainly know they exist and got powers, but that has seemed to be a bit of the problem in the past, so they won't be a part of rising another one's ego.
If now a Klyros would have more negative effects from godly intervention, or absess from it, then I think there would be very few people playing them. They want to RP the race, but since you need to really work to get around the god issues from the past for it to be accepted, they would accept that a god isn't anything for a Klyros anymore, but then they'd get negative effects from it.
Of course, all who wanted to play Klyros could go around saying 'bless this and that' and not mean it, but that just seems stupid. You could put in a 'belief in the Klyros' so that the strength of the race would act the same way as believing in a god, although not with a /pray command, which is a good idea, but aren't people training enough things as it is?

Just my two tria ;)

Had this since the last update. In the beginning I had BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) with the crash, but the sound fix took care of that.

Specs:
AMD Athlon 64 4000+     Processor
Nvidia GeForce 7800 GT   Graphics card
Creative SB Audigy          Sound card
XP Home SP 3                OS
ABIT KN8-SLI                 Motherboard

All drivers are updated, checked and double checked.
