After the update, this bug is back (with OpenAL):

I get an error though when I try to request the reopening it.

PS client can be updated now to 0.5.7, but to many the update doesn't come without manual configuration changes. If you can't update, find updateservers.xml file in your PlaneShift directory, and make it as follows:

Linux Specific Issues / Problems after update to 0.5.6

After updating to 0.5.6 I got several problems. Firstly, audio is broken - click sound which is produced when clicking log in button for example gets duplicated and doesn't stop at all (I'm using OSS4) - very annoying. Secondly, after logging in, load progress reaches around 90% and the client just freezes. All this is run on current Debian testing x86_64.

On the last "meet the devs event" crafting books were briefly discussed, and it was pointed out that they are basically dumps of crafting related tables, which descirbe the graph of available manipulation options. However describing it as a raw set of manipulations in a text form makes it practically totally obscure, and hard to understand without some reorganizing into inteilligeble form.

Are those tables available somewhere? I'd be interested in trying to write something to enable recompiling the table representation into human readable form.

Wish list / Using SVG for maps

I tried to load a map into a blank one, but it expects it's own internal format. Using the built in editor is a rather painful process. May be you can switch to using SVG? It's a perfect generic vector graphics XML format. In such case one can create maps in any editor, and then just load them into the empty game map! This convenience is enabled for books, why not enable it for maps too?

Wish list / Yliakum courier / postal service

It would be nice to have some postal service. For example, if some guild has a house, one could send a message which will be delivered to the mailbox there. And private individuals without a house could check their mail at particular courier service location. This would me more fun and more realistic RP wise, instead of contacting each other through whisper (unless it's telepathy by default). Also, NPC mail couriers could really travel around, like from BD to Hydlaa, etc (unless it's delegated to pterosaurs who fly invisibly :) ).

Wish list / Chat color highlighting with pattern match

I was trying to make different colors for system messages (like for example for being hit, or hitting etc.), but it doesn't seem possible at present. It would be good to make a generic way to define coloring through the settings UI (or if it's too advanced for most users, at least through a config file somewhere). For example to be able to define a regex pattern and a color for it. This way anyone can make any color highlighting for specific messages at will.

General Discussion / Time cycles and seasons in Yliakum

I have a few questions regarding time cycles in Yliakum. There is a daily cycle, which is apparent by the change of crystal radiance, and also monthly / seasonal cycles. The daily time is shown in the info window, so in relation to that, is it IC or OOC to mention certain time (like saying that certain trainer comes / goes at N o'clock etc.)? Is there a "crystal clock" invented?

However I didn't understand how one can check the seasonal cycles (current months etc. it's not shown anywhere in the UI, or I just missed it?). The weather seems to depend on them (rain, snow) or it is random? (In regards to weather, it would be great if snow would stay on the ground, roofs, etc. for the winter period, though I understand it's much harder to implement [like making all extra snowy textures etc.]).

Newbie Help (Start Here) / Shortcuts for items transfer?

Is there a command which could transfer an item from inventory to currently open container (or other way around)? Setting this to some key would be extra nice, because using mouse for that puts a lot of strain on fingers if there are a lot of items.
