Linux Specific Issues / missing plugins
« on: July 08, 2006, 02:40:14 pm »
Hi there

I have compiled everything from cal3d to PS without errors or warnings. But as soon as I want to connect to the server the game segfaults. In the console I can see, that a lot of plugins could not be loaded. Is this due to missing data/art or du to some compilation problem?

General Discussion / Grouping for fights
« on: January 02, 2005, 06:19:07 am »
Hi there,

For gameplay I think the grouping, to attack monsters is a good thing in general, since it prevents players from just doing the last hit and gaining all the \"glory\". But each target should be released after it died, otherwise one player can just reserver that particularly interesting target for his guild or something like that, if does not unmark it untli the next respawn.

Technical Help: IN GAME bugs (after loading world) / linux client issue
« on: January 02, 2005, 06:15:33 am »
Hi there,

I\'m running my PS client on a 2nd X server. If I switch to my desktop (1st X server) and back again, I\'m not able to write to the PS console/chat anymore only scrolling through my last sentences is possible. I\'ve recognized this problem first with a cvs version from 27th of december.
Is there a bugzilla or similar for PS or is there only this board?

Hi there,

since the new release is not too far away, and since it is weekend, I\'ve taken the time to try a compilation of PS CVS and all the other things, which are needed. It worked out so far on my Athlon64, which it didn\'t a few months ago.
After solving a problem with pssetup (mouse pointer wasn\'t displayed), I ran into a yet unsolved problem, the iSoundManager plugin does not seem to be available.

I\'ve pasted a verbose output from the client at:
http://www.rafb.net/paste/results/89K54762.html

My system is an Athlon64 with gentoo linux. And I\'ve followed the instructions given in the CVS howto given at http://www16.brinkster.com/acraig/planeshift/building.html
I\'ve taken the CVS version of everything, except for jam, where I used the recent version in gentoo (jam-2.5)

I\'ve tried to comment out all sound related plugins in psclient.cfg, without success.

Edit I \"rejamed\" planeshift and recognized, that two errors occur:

maybe someone got an idea how to fix this. Is there a way to run jam with the proposed g++ option (-fPIC)? And would it help?

Hey folks,

I just thought about having some enhnced server statistics. Couldn\'t we have a day/week/months statistic, that shows us how many users where online at what time of day/week...
And some user statistics which area of the world is most active at certain times ?

Wish list / recognition of significant characters
« on: April 25, 2003, 05:56:03 pm »
Hey,

since more and more ppl join planeshift there are more and more long and difficult names.
Now if you want to tell private messages using the /talk command, it would be compfortable if only the significant charactres needed to be typed as a name.....

Like if lets say Demian and Devoted are in the game it would fine if you could type \"/tell Dem ...\" for contacting Demian (these names are still short).

Another thing is, that it may prevent me seeing lines a guy called Thorgal (without the f) writes in red color...;)

Technical Help: Problems BEFORE entering the game / buddylist
« on: March 25, 2003, 11:52:33 am »
Hey folks,

since version 007 (well I use latest MBs-cvs)  I seldom have a buddy list available.
Well I have a buddylist but usually it says:

\"you have no buddies on your list right now \"

every 6th or 7th time I really see my buddies...

Any clou about that problem ? Shall I formally report it to the MB-bug-list ?

Hi folks,

a few days ago I met a guy named Kundalf;) in PS. Now since I use this name in the Forums and I\'d like to avoid any confusion, I also registered for Thorgalf (my ingame name) and will use this name for further mails in the forum, as soon as this Account (Kundalf) is deletetd...

Any idea how to do that ?

I tryed the delete button in the profile menu, but it didn\'t work...well...any idea, what to do ?

Guilds Forum / guilds and crystals and other things
« on: March 21, 2003, 11:04:01 am »
Hi folks,

recently I\'ve recognized several concerns about the union of our two guilds Mundus Order and The Forsaken Ones. Especially these concernes included the amount of crystals the new guild would own.

As I mentioned in another thread I do not see a direct problem in that since the crystal competition will afaik continue when pick pocketing, combat and so on are available.
Furthermore the more time you invest the more crystals you\'ll find. But some of you are not satisfied with that, i fear...;)

So I\'m interested in your opinions according all that...

Technical Help: Problems BEFORE entering the game / shared names
« on: March 15, 2003, 07:58:58 am »
Hi,

I\'ve met a player named Thorgal online today, the problem now seems to be in the chat system. I see all he writes as red text, probabyl the names Thorgalf and Thorgal are to similar for the chat system, it cant differentiate between them...

someone please help....?(

Hi Pals,

I\'ve got the following problem. Yesterday I compiled the latest Molecular Blue client....
Here what I did:

I grabbed the cvs version:
cvs -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/planteshift co -rMB planeshift

I configured it:
./configure

I compiled it:

jam

Now when connecting I got a segfault and an error message that told me that some newer files were\'nt found.
So I copyed all files missing in the new version from the precompiled old version. Now my client runs perfectly, except for the characters, I only see the kind I\'ve added a snapshot of.
The textures are o.k., since I can see the skin of cats and beards of dwarfs and so on...Just the bodys!!!

Furthermore in the menu I am a dwarf, others still see me as a human....

Any idea, what to do ?
