"Can't create DirectDraw device"
« on: August 08, 2003, 12:21:15 pm »
\"Can\'t create DirectDraw device\" is the error I get when I try to use PS setup. I can play the game fine, except that it stays in a little window, which is quite annoying.

I have a 1.5ghz processor, 384mb ram, a Radeon 7000 graphics card, and DirectX 9. I am running Windows 98.

I hear that DirectX 9 doesn\'t like ATI graphics cards or windows 98 :/

Huh? What files and what folder? The PS file?

*n00bie is confuz0red*

*edit* If you mean, did I put all of the parts of PS into the same folder before using the assembler, yes I did. They all went to my downloads folder, so why would I seperate them? *edit*

Yup.....My machine dose the same thing.
Amd 1.47ghz
512 ram
DirectX 9.0b
Radeon 8500 LE 128mb, 010027c drivers
Windows 98se

My kids machine has the same hardware except that
there rig runs a nVidia 5600 128mb card.I downloaded
the files and compiled them like your supposed to
then burned all the files and the .exe file to a cdrw.
Installed the game from the CD on both machines,
There game works just fine mine only works in
OpenGL.

Then there\'s the problem right there, planeshift doesn\'t like ATI graphics cards.

Or Planeshift doesn\'t like directX9.

Or DirectX9 doesn\'t like Windows 98

Or DirectX9 doesn\'t like ATI graphics cards

Or any other combination of the above :(

I\'m going to get an Nvidea graphics card next time, more reliable tbh. :/
