I like how you clarified that "Beat the Dwarfs" is a beer contest and not something more violent.

I'll refrain from making jokes about the red haired dwarf avatar, and about being "beaten like a red headed step-son."

A pity I could not attend most parts of this huge event... thanks for your dedication to plan, prepare and run the festival, all of this takes some mighty effort.

Maybe you want to post the wonderful riddles you had for the treasure hunt, along with a summary of the actual locations? Also, I think the posters with the detailed game rules were very nice, so you may want to put them here as well, in case people look back at the event in a few months or years they can say "wow, this was a cool festival" ;)

Title: [Game Rules] Festival of the Hammers
Post by: Mouli on November 11, 2013, 05:42:33 pm
Toss the Anvil rules
An event involving throwing (in a pushing motion)
a heavy anvil as far as possible within the legal sector of the throwing area.
The contestant may touch the inside surface of the circle designated to launch throws,
but must not touch the top or outside of the circle, or the ground beyond the circle while in the throwing motion.
All kinds of potions, herbal products, magic is allowed as long as the throw remains an effort of the contestant only.
Every participant has 3 tries in each game whereas the best shot will be taken into final account.
The first round of tries is requisite but further throws may be postponed for the current leading contestant.
Ties are broken by determining which thrower has the longer second-best throw.
[ This game is played by using /roll 10 command twice in a row to represent the toss.
The first number will be the whole-number part while the second accounts for the tenths of meters (max 11m).
We require all rolls to be played ICly according to the results.]

Putting the Hammer rules
An event involving hurling (in any style) a hammer as far as possible within the legal sector of the throwing area.
The contestant may touch the inside surface of the circle designated to launch puts,
but must not touch the top or outside of the circle, or the ground beyond the circle while in the throwing motion.
All kinds of potions, herbal products, magic is allowed as long as the throw remains an effort of the contestant only.
Every participant has 3 tries in each game whereas the best shot will be taken into final account.
The first round of tries is requisite but further throws may be postponed for the current leading contestant.
Ties are broken by determining which thrower has the longer second-best put.
[ This game is played by using /roll 10 command three times in a row to represent the put.
The first number will be multiplied by 3 adds the whole-number part while the second accounts for the tenths of meters (max 31m).
The third roll represents horizontal orientation angle which may place the hammer outside the legal sector with results 1 and 10.
We require all rolls to be played ICly according to the results.]

Trepor's Haggys Hurling rules
An event involving hurling (in any style) a trepor egg as far as possible within the legal sector of the throwing area.
The contestant must stand on a barrel placed inside the circle designated to launch throws and remain on it at least 5 seconds after the hurl.
The egg must remain intact after landing.
All kinds of potions, herbal products, magic is allowed as long as the throw remains an effort of the contestant only.
Every participant has 3 tries in each game whereas the best shot will be taken into final account.
The first round of tries is requisite but further throws may be postponed for the current leading contestant.
Ties are broken by determining which thrower has the longer second-best hurl.
[ This game is played by using /roll 10 command three times in a row to represent the hurl.
The first number will be multiplied by 2 adds the whole-number part while the second accounts for the tenths of meters (max 21m).
The third roll represents the state of the egg after landing. Result lower or equalt to 3 means the egg is smashed thus the hurl wont be taken into account.
We require all rolls to be played ICly according to the results. ]

Arm Wrestling rules
Two participants place one arm on a table with their elbows bent and touching the table, and they grip each other's hand.
The goal is to pin the other's down while elbows must remain on the table.

We require all rolls to be played ICly according to the results. ]

Tug O' War rules

The teams start with the rope's centre line directly above a line marked on the ground,
and once the contest (the "pull") has commenced, attempt to pull the other team such that the marking on the rope closest to their opponent crosses the centre line.
[ Each contestant rolls a 10 sided die in each round.
The first one to reach 30 with his or her sum result, wins in single challange.
In 2 vs. 2 the team objective is to reach 50.  Ties will be broken by additional rolls.

We require all rolls to be played ICly according to the results.]

either 11 or 1 to be added to their score,
otherwise the indicated number will be added.
The aim is to get closest to 21 without exceeding it.
The first round starts by each player rolling twice,
one roll in the upcoming rounds per player.

A big thank you and congratulations to all who were involved organizing the event!
And also thanks for the players who attended and made this very nice RP atmosphere.

It's a real pity that my RL decided to keep me very busy just that weekend. I'm happy for each moment I could attend this event that was much fun every single moment.
And if someone writes a book about the creative games (including the ooc rules), my char would be as eager to buy it as the player  ;)

I hope this will be done again and I'm more than willing to help as much as possible with my limited time.

Indeed, thanks for the festival. Skill-independant contests along with fun(ny) RP. Definetly something to enjoy and I hope there'll be another of these events.

Also, thanks for all the work that was put in the event. Must have been a lot.

Making this event was fun too. Esanor may be mute, but he can write well and enjoyed making riddles about Stonehammer citizen in the style of Jeopardy.

I believe Anysu shuffled her letters while dancing. ;) Or did I mistake the name or character completely?

It was indeed a great event, and many players attended on both days. Thank you Hammers for organizing this event, I really enjoyed it!

I took quite some screenshots during the event, but not all of them came out as good as I expected them to be. Here are a few to help those who were there reminiscent, and make the ones who missed it repent:

A lot of people gathered for the first day of the event. Lots of hammers, but many friends as well, came together to eat, drink, play games and talk.

The second day was devoted to Grampus. The guild was gathered on the banks of Irifon to honor his passing. Many friends were also in attendance.

An eulogy was read in his honor, as people recalled the comrade and friend he was.

Everyone descended by the water as his pyre was lit. His was a full life, and his passage from this realm will be remembered.

After the funeral, a drink was in order to help drown the sorrow. The Broken Barrel reopened its doors to host everyone looking for sympathy and a beer.

Migg was too overcome with emotions to handle his two stiff beers. With a little help from his friends however he managed to chop enough wood and still remain all in one piece.

This was a great event, and I was both honored and delighted to be a part of it. If anyone has more screenshots to share, please post them on the forum.
