Music Please! 8 tracks Anyone?
« on: January 22, 2015, 12:28:08 am »
I found this a site a while ago and thought it was pretty cool . 8Tracks.com is place where people put their own music play lists together for others to listen to. You can also go there just to listen to their existing play lists. It's diverse, searchable, and free.

So what are you listening to right now?

Because my car radio is slightly broken (no FM radio reception, possibly lost connection to antenna), I'm listening through my music archive on SD card, there is a lot (mostly whole albums) from 80's and 90's of the 20th Century. The time when music was still made because it urged the musicians to be made, to tell stories, to provoke feelings ... not only to get rich or die trying.

I still know who Paul McCartney is, and still don't know who Kanye West believes to be. I am so old-fashioned...

Currently I am right inside some albums by Peter Gabriel.

BTW, get the typo in the title fixed, Riggy.

This is a another recent find, an inspiring rendition of Poe's, "The Raven" Its a long piece but beautifully expressed dark & epic poetry. *sigh* https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eUL4WUOcW2w

Suggestion for all of you: try Spotify! Loads of music. There are some ads that play between songs if you aren't subscribed but it's worth it for finding new music.

Grooveshark is my preference. I think Rigs point is in the art and nostalgia of making and sharing the "mixed tape"

Yo siteya/riggy. I’m really happy for you and Imma let you finish but Stephen Sondheim is one of the best [living] composers of all time... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KId_A5H-BXw&list=PL0dgMl5nei4dKYbv8VkglAMKFW0TRWCTN
[the Into the Woods soundtrack has been stuck in my head for months and I quite the debate with myself on if i should link the movie version, revival or original  :surrender: ]

Faun - Walpurgisnacht (Director's Cut)
http://youtu.be/U10ftE4XQvo

translation:

In the night-sky tonight
The witches rise
Wild folk and Lilith's kind
Lurking, secretly ride the winds.

Let us wander to the fires
Whispering, reach for the stars
Both the good and the bad word
Take us (further) on and on tonight.

In the meadows our dreams will ring
And the winds will sing our songs.
Let us leap over the fires with the sparks
On Walpurgis Night!

Hear the fiddles, hear the fiddles,
The fires are kindled!
Follow the round dance, follow the round dance
On Walpurgis Night.

Unruly in the fiddles' play
Our nightly round dance spins
And we join, wild and free,
This old magic.

Only once in great circles
We dance in that way
Until the first light of morning
(When) our dream-web breaks.

In the meadows our dreams will ring
And the winds will sing our songs.
Let us leap over the fires with the sparks
On Walpurgis Night!

Hear the fiddles, hear the fiddles,
The fires are kindled!
Follow the round dance, follow the round dance
On Walpurgis Night.
