Adding this one in case I forgot where to find it when the first ATI crash is found.

Crash number: non yet
(numbers for 0.4.02 were 6968BE9F. 69162BFD, 693a9e10, 6915FD2D, 6915FD3D)
(numbers for 0.4.01 were 02b6558e, 026E3C3E, 02534C7E, 024e5cfe, 690867aa, 6932D7F0 023E1D4E, 69162BFD, 696A5031)


Description:
Client crashes shortly after selecting the character, during load or shortly after.
Another occurence: Player gets to the point where you are supposed to buy a magic glyph from Orphia Eldri.

Possible causes:
ATI Hardware related OpenGL problems.

Possible solution:
Check out this thread.

Status:
Not a PS bug. Use solution in above thread or this bug report: bug 1789.

Not only ATI related, happens with Nvidia (6800 GS) too: Address 006D9067 at map changes.

I doubt that Nvidia will crash in the ati driver as well :). Because that is definately where the other crashes were.

Possible that this memory address is the routine which calls a specific OpenGL function - but still inside the psclient executable.

On one hand I see "ATI specific" reasons, on the other hand "VBO related" reasons.

I had no crashes at map changes anymore after disabling VBOs. The existence of VBO related OpenGL functions is not ATI specific, though.

Over 90% of the crash reports send to me have the specific numbers shown in that post, and ALL of those are in the ati driver. I never saw a similar one in non-ati cases. I prefer to keep this thread clean, so we should discuss this elsewhere.

About sending crash reports: with major changes to CS coming with the next release, crash reports are of less use at the moment, and may lay around in my inbox for quite some time. Best to retest with next release. If you cannot play the game due to a crash, check in the forum or find help on IRC.
