I included them all, even the ones I wouldn't consider, but I'm especially looking for the two you think are the most nightmarish ones, whether you may find them disturbing or scary, and whether hostile or not.
I also didn't include subtypes, so if you would choose the wrathrat then pick the Giant Rat, for example.
I probably got excessive with the inclusiveness, but you never know with phobias. Cotton balls or helium balloons, anyone? However, I did exclude the arguably cutest or inoffensive ones.
EDIT:
Drat! I'm an idiot, and when I was finalizing my list I omitted the trepors. They're not your usual monsters: not at all hostile unless you threaten them, and they even shout gratuitous greetings to nobody in particular, but they have that face like the Zanties from the Outer Limits which did creep me quite a bit.
So, please let us know if you would've liked to vote for them, and consider that a bonus point!
-
There are a couple on this list, but I haven't seen some of them in game yet, particularly the grue, so I can't vote for that simply because I don't know how it looks, even though its concept isn't exactly something I'd want to encounter.
Voted tefusang and grendol with that said. Honorable mention to the gorweals (...) and the ulbernaut and friends (intimidating).
-
The grue is by far the scariest!
Haven't seen one? I'm not surprised.
-
Did you include creatures one can only read about yet?
By the way, Trefusang
-
Yes, it seems that Trepor + Tefusang = Trefusang.
Originally I intended only to include three of them, but thought it would be more informative to expand the list. I did only include ones that had pictures of them somewhere, if not inside the gameworld environment itself, but yes, I expect the player experiences would skew impressions somewhat.
p.s. putting the grue on there was with tongue-in-cheek, but not as a joke.
-
Ulbernauts and there variants. Specially the Maulberlord. They give me the creeps when popping up from nowhere.
Grendols are creepy too.
Consumers are kind of cute but I would prefer to never see a real one.
-
Where's the option for Rigwyn? He's easily the scariest creature in PS. :P
-
You clearly forgot the scariest of all mighty creatures: The yulbar!
Never seen one grown to its full size? Look here ;D

*blink* Yulbar evolves to ... Yulbernaut?!
-
Scariest of all is...
CAPSLOCK
-
I already shamelessly bumped an old picture, but hey, this is hard to resist now.
Scariest of all is...

Ever have a good look at these "cute" creatures? Beats CAPSLOCK by far!

I agree.

Unfortunately...there are scarier things in RL yet. Like being on a collision course with 9000 tons headed at you at >100mph. (I, thankfully, have not been their personally. I'd rather not be there, for that matter, but there are people who have been...)

Not even a full stack of ulbernauts and it's likes can beat it!
-
Wait, I know ... the scariest is ... Bonifarzia hunting. :)

What about heading for a radioactive Crystal that you know will cause your true death with little to no means of escape?
-
What about politicians trading the freedom and sovereignty of their nation for a vague perspective of possibly growing economy (like TTIP, TiSA, CETA, etc.)? That's really scary in my current life. A pity it is off-topic here.
-
demon Kikiri from the noob years - by far the scariest.
-
I guess not that many arthrophobes were bothered by the arangmas.
Also, here's something for LigH:

I get really freaked out by things with 8 legs....
-
Why are GORWEALS winning when there are GIANT WALKING BALLS OF MAGMA that frighten the ENTIRE SUNSHINE AND SHADOW SQUADRONS!? ::| ::| ::|
-
Perhaps several respondents did not know that they were able to choose 2 of the scariest.
And it's grendols that are leading the poll, though a few did give lesser mention to the gorweals.
Anyways, I was hoping to help the devs know which monsters to include in new content, but twenty-three players surely isn't demonstrative enough.

You may be afraid of things you never met; but you can be scared only by things you witnessed.
I have never seen a Lavvar yet. I visited the lava cave only during the introduction event.
