Forum and Website Discussions / Caution Malware Warnings on these forums
« on: January 10, 2013, 05:54:23 am »
I get a Malware warning when accessing certain threads on these forums. So far I'm only getting warnings when in 'Comments On "Faces Behind The Players"'

Google Chrome states "content from membres.lycos.fr, a known malware distributor has been inserted into this web page. Visiting this page now is very likely to infect your computer with malware."

Thought I should let the community and the devs know :) happy foruming!

General Discussion / Laanx Dungeon
« on: September 25, 2012, 07:46:44 am »
Lately I've spent a bit of time down in the the Laanx Dungeon and I was just wondering about it's origin and reason(s) for existence. Is it actually there for the temple and/or Laanx? I mean if you enter the dungeon from the temple you go through a well and a cave not a proper built entrance :/

Is it a burial well, or a catacomb (like the one in Paris, that'd be pretty cool)
Was it built as a safe haven? Maybe in case all the Talad followers start a ragging war against them?

I tried to see what PSWiki might say about it, but it had nothing of value. I also didn't find any books dedicated to it in Jayose's Library. So just wondering if anyone might know?

The Hydlaa Plaza / Wont be on much anymore.
« on: January 31, 2012, 10:10:46 pm »
Currently I won't be playing Planeshift much anymore :( I am currently doing my last year of school which I'm not finding very easy and as much study as possible is very much needed for me to get the results I want. I hope to come back around Christmas time.

I'll try poping in if I get a chance during the year.

I wish everyone the best of luck with the year and I do hope we can all meet again. :)

Forum and Website Discussions / Avast Security users - Rate Planeshift
« on: December 12, 2011, 07:02:35 am »
For awhile I have noticed the Avast security poll on my web browser (Google Chrome). Now I have realised I can actually place a rating for a website. :D

I just thought I could rally up all the Avast users in the PS community to give Planeshift a good rating on all their websites (PS.it, Forums, Wiki, etc), if Planeshift has a good rating then Avast users (when finding Planeshift), will hopefully feel more safer downloading Planeshift and registering an account.

Simple click the 3 grey/green/red poll and a window should open to be able to rate the site yourself. I do not know if this is used on any other web browser than Google Chrome.

Complaint Department / Stop with all the adverts
« on: September 26, 2011, 04:12:52 am »
This has already been discussed somewhere, however I believe it needs to go further.

I'm sick of all the adverts around PlaneShift these days, it's spamming and it's outright annoying!!

So I complain that the devs and GMs need to set some rules up on the use of books for adverts. I believe that they are to be only located on Billboards and not walls/buildings, fences, or sign posts. I do not mind notices about events being in popular areas like Kada El's or Harnquist's.

General Discussion / Selling Guild houses
« on: July 01, 2011, 09:45:54 am »
I heard today that if a guild wishes to sell their Guild House it's against PS rules (Even though it's not stated anywhere). This is really anti capitalism, if you buy a house then it's yours and you should freely be allowed to sell it. Otherwise you never bought anything!

I believe that if a guild pays for the lock to be changed (I believe in handing 1 million trias to the GM team will get the lock changed) then that guild should be allowed to sell their house.
This would also allow guild leaders to sell their house if their guild is going inactive.

So discuss.

Wish list / Correspondence training
« on: June 19, 2011, 05:20:17 am »
Simple. Pay a little extra to not have to go to your trainer.  :)

Basically once you rank up, a pop up message asks you whether you want to use a X (Groffel or Messanger) to get your next training for XXX extra amount of trias.

Wish list / Being able to rename containers
« on: June 16, 2011, 06:43:24 am »
So basically I think it would be great if we could all rename containers, this would be great for merchants (and other people who often use them). It would greatly help because you'd be able to sort things into categories. When I'm merchanting on my merchant alt, Eyantar and someone buys something, I have to go through all my containers to find that one item, it would be so much easier if I could have my containers named in categories.

The new name of the container could probably only be seen/noticed by the player who changed it.

Wish list / Fading textures the further away it is.
« on: June 13, 2011, 05:35:34 am »
I think PlaneShift would look 100% more better if you implement 'fading'. Basically what I'm meaning is that the further the distance the more the fading. Instead of what you have now, which is balk loading, full textures and all (using a lot more of your computer's hardware, so I'm guessing this might lower the minimum requirements).

Here an image of a WoW map, I got when searching in Google Images

Here I can see about 4-5 levels of fading.
 - there's the high quality (around the character)
 - mid quality further out around the character (kind of at the bottom of the slop, or on top of the next little sloppy rise)
 - light texturing with more basic colours (the closer part of the hill near the tower that's behind the large tree)
 - and then further out where there's just one colour (the orange hills)

I understand this is very hard to implement, but it's something for the future and will look absolutely great!

Complaint Department / Lower NPC prices on looted items
« on: June 11, 2011, 05:43:49 am »
I am finding that selling items to players must be higher than NPC value. To stop yourself from getting ripped off.

At the moment '-encrusted' weapons are very high, this is great if you don't wish to sell to players, however it's terrible for selling to players as they don't want to spend a lot on a weapon that's got no buff and is only a collector and is pretty easy to get through loot. Many other weapons are like this, so I came here to complain that they should be dropped in NPC value.

I would say it's fine and I would just shrug it off. However it's all about RP, selling to players creates interactions with players, creating RP.

Markets

The Markets are free for anyone to set up a stall. However every player (whether or not they are in the festival or not) must obey these rules. Please read the rules before setting up a stall!

Rules
  • A vendor/merchant may not have more than three items on display, a guild may not have more than five (reducing lag)
  • First vendor/merchant in that spot gets that spot, however if a guild is wanting to take that spot (only because there is no other spot available) the player much give it up.
  • A guild can only have a stall by having more than two members at the stall at any time [except if they or the server crashs]
  • A guild cannot occupy more than one stall, however a member can occupy another stall under a different genre (e.g the guild runs a food stand, the member runs a glyph stall). The member must run the stall by them self and without any help from their guild.
  • [ All Out of Character (OOC) selling or actions are not allowed, you will be OOCly via a /tell (Whispers). We encourage Roleplay!]
    • If anyone breaks these rules they will be given a warning if they keep abusing the rule(s) they will then be asked to leave [and a report sent to a GM, under any cercumstances a GM can take any action they wish, at this point it is considered 'Grieving' which I believe a maximum penalty is a 30 day ban], if you keep on going you will be killed and not allowed back into Ojaveda during the event [and another report will be sent to a GM]

    Tournaments

Tournaments will be done in two classes. Single and Grouped. Judged by Vakachehk Kivikar.

    Rules for Both Classes:
    • No killing
    • no magic
    • no mounts
    • no food or potions [totally unrealistic how can someone eat a whole pie while dueling and be suddenly fully healed]
    • no shields
    • no ranged weapons.

    Single
Each competitor will be set into rounds with only one other competitor (so not an all-for-all). All competitors must read and obey the Rules for Both Classes! There is a maximum of eight competitors [ If someone relogs the round/fight will be restarted, on the second relog it will not, however they won't be eliminated from the class, they will just have a much more disadvantaged, if they keep reloging during other fights they will be eliminated from the class. ]

    1st prize: 1million trias
2nd prize: one of the finest Golden Shields in the dome [A 300Q Golden Shield]
    3rd prize: a Vortex Glyph

    Grouped
Each group is made up of either 3 or 4 competitors, each group will be set into rounds with each other group and (so not an all-for-all). Each group will need to nominate a groupd leader, and make a group name. Maximum of five groups [ If someone in the group relogs, bad luck the member of the group cant not carry on fighting. If the member does carry on fighting the group will be eliminated. Group leaders must make sure every member of the group understands the rules!]

    1st prize: 1 million trias
    2nd prize: 200,000 trias

    [Prizes may increase]

    Registering:
You must send an application to Vakachehk Kivikar by exactly one day before the event starts,  [24 hours you will be told if your application is successful or not by 12-24 hours after the application was sent. ]
[ You can do this via PM on the forums, /tell IG or a /query on IRC. If I am not online, just send a PM on forums. ]

[ The Kore Irka-Kor will examine every application, we are mostly looking for Roleplayers not Powerlevelers. The decision will be decided between Akaiddo Kivikar and Vakachehk Kivikar. The decision is final, and therefore no re-applications are allowed. ]

[ If you are/were unsuccessful, we will keep it confedencial for you (we won't run into gossip and tell the whole community you got declined). Contact Vakachehk Kivikar (prefurably when I'm not busy) if you want a reason. ]

    Rivnak Races and Games

Not offical yet. Currenly working on the prizes and finding a judge.

    Find the Lost Notes:

We are going to hide notes (books) around Ojaveda. All Hint: look around, up, down, in, out, across.

When you find the book, contact Akaiddo Kivikar for your award. (All awards will be writen in the book).

Have fun and good luck on finding them!

    [ Rules: ]
    • [ Maximum of two books per player. ]
    • [ To all who want to make fake books, each book will have a number on them and we will report them to a GM if they don't match the code. If you go hiding fake books saying “Kore Irka-Kor will pay you X amount of trias” it will be reported to a GM and if the GM can find out the author, the author will have to pay the Finder the exact amount of trias said. ]

Rules and Notifications of The Whole Festival

[ Did you know? If you are cought doing some great roleplay you might win a little award! Lets keep this event In Character! ]

[ Please note that you can only enter one event at this festival. Tournaments and the Rivnak Races and Games (if run) will be run at the same time. We will make small intervals to encourage shopping at the markets. ]

[ We encourage roleplay, however dramatic roleplay is not allowed!! This means things that go on wasting Event Officials and Event Participants time. If you want to do a little robbery of a merchant then sure, but please keep it small. Otherwise we will tell you to end it off, if you carry on a report  to a GM as Grieving will be sent. Kore Irka-Kor's members will be hard at work running this event, please understand that we really don't have the time! ]
[ Kore Irka-Kor is allowed to cancel, postpone or edit any part of the event or the event as a whole at anytime before the event starts. ]
[ Bet making and gambling is allowed. ]
[ All other Planeshift rules apply. There is sure to be a GM online. ]
[ All registering and Applying has to be done privately please don't post below, send a PM via these forums, /tell IG, or query on IRC, to Vakachehk. ]

HAVE FUN, AND WE HOPE THAT EVERYONE WILL ENJOY THIS EVENT

General Discussion / Beginners trainers seem to be in Hydlaa
« on: April 11, 2011, 05:48:59 am »
Well I thought I might begin this discussion.

When you are a beginner the things you are learning are very simple. Requiring very low levelled trainers to train you. I can understand however higher levels making you go to the capital or to other placing (I don't really understand going to the Bronzedoors for anything but Stats and weapon and Armor training).

So my opinion is, that everything level 50 (skills), 100 (stats) and below should be trainable in every single town and city.

I better give an example to what has changed.
Nearly a year ago. Mining was trainable in Ojaveda, Hydlaa and Gugrontid. I'm pretty sure Harnquist and Trasok stopped training it at a certain level and you had to go to the smithy in Gug to train further. Now all mining training is done in Hydlaa, however I don't know if the trainer in Hydlaa does it to max now (but that is not relevant).

Granted or negated Wishes / Pterosaur Gift Cards
« on: April 10, 2011, 08:08:06 pm »
How about people buying 'gift cards' from the Pterosaur people and can give them to friends, and they can get free rides to a destination of their choice?

General Discussion / Why move when mining?
« on: April 01, 2011, 08:09:21 am »
I have tried searching these forums for discussions on things like this.

In my own opinion, I think it is annoying and unrealistic to have to move a few steps after getting some ore when mining.
It also doesn't stop boting, maybe makes it harder.

What's everyones opinions on this?

In-Game Roleplay Events / Merchant Market
« on: March 20, 2011, 05:53:23 am »
Merchant Market

The Merchant Market is a fully free market. It rotates between the main towns/cities of Yliakum. Each town/city has it's own set host for the market. So this means each month it will rotate on location and host. [The markets last for about 2 real life hours, if there is a large number of people selling and buying the event can carry on for as long as it lasts.]. For more accurate time and date please use the Planeshift events calender.

Information
Ojaveda - Hosting Guild: Kore Irka Clan, Main Host: Vakachehk Kivikar,
[Date: March, July, November, last Friday 11:00pm GMT]

Gugrontid – Hosting Guild: Bloodstone Brethren, Main Host: Yahh and Baruden,
[April, August, December, last Sunday 8:00pm (20:00) GMT]

Hydlaa – Hosting Guild: The Market Chambers, Main Host: Dorbaine,
[Date: January, May, September, last Saturday 10:00pm/21:00, GMT]

Amdeneir – Hosting Guild: Klyros Junction, Main Host: Leraider and Mekora,
[Date: February, June, October, last Saturday 8:00pm GMT]

Rules:
  • There is no need to register a stall, it is just turn up on the day. [However it would be nice to have a /tell to the host if you are interested, this is so they have a fair idea whether to run the event or not.]
  • There is a maximum of three items on display per stall, guild stalls have an exemption of five items on display. All items are preferably books. [This is to stop the server and map from lag.]
  • For the guild exemption to take place you must have two or more people at the stall at any given time [unless an unexpected crash/relog happens], and have no other guild member running any other stall, unless that stall is run by its self (with no help from the guild) and is of a different category (e.g the guild runs a weapon stall and a member on their own runs a food stall, is allowed.)
  • Breaking any of the above you will be given a warning, and if you refuse and/or are continuing your offence you will be asked to pack up your stall and leave, if you refuse to leave and/or are continuing your offence, a GM will be involved and they may take various actions, you will also be banned from these events for one year meaning you cannot sell of buy anything player-to-player within the map the event takes place on.

Thank you, and we hope that everyone will enjoy these ongoing events.
