Getting a bit off topic, here, but I do not see a future tense in that sentence. In fact the future tense is not something that fits with a narrative style as it is a retelling of events that have already occurred. It all looks past tense to me, "found" is the past tense of "to find," "was" is the past tense of "to be." Is one of the forms I suggested typically used in the future tense or where do you see it, Lolitra?

Since I mentioned improper punctuation, I admit that I will misuse it regularly. Kind of an awkward statement but I think I used a verb in each of past, present and future tense. I may be wrong though they could have been some other grammatical form in one case or another.

I'm just groping in the dark here as my school days are long gone in the brumous dawn of time, evanesced in the plethora of fremescent factoids piled higher and deeper than even a PhD could wade through before graduation.

Duraza is using evanescence as a noun.  "Was" is the verb and "The evanescence of Ojaveda" is the subject.  The sentence is correct as far as I can tell.
<Jeraphon>oh khado
<Jeraphon>you so khrazy

Xil|sleeps: I love cadoras

Just wanting to poke weavers and remind them that it is a new week and time for a new ridiculously hard word to use.  ;)

Guffaw: Obscure word of the week.
« Reply #63 on: August 14, 2008, 01:46:25 pm »
By summary judgment, we declare The Group the winner for helping each other in the usage of the word.

Our next word shall be:
Guffaw

An easy word this week, but one we have noticed some people do not know the exact meaning of. Your writing skills will come into play heavily this week. Good writing!

Seems a bit like you have lost interest in this game of yours.

I vote Prolix, his laugh is no mere titter, nor a snigger, not even a hearty laugh, or belly wobbling jiggler of humour - but, his is a heart fealt guffaw, one that wriggles out of the lungs in large convulses of gutteral sounds of merriment - yes a true guffaw!  so.. I vote Prolix for making me laugh.
Her Royal Highness Lolitra Hollinthy Purrty nods regally 'I am delighted to meet you' her tiara twinkles in the crystal light.

I want no guff! Aw, and those logs were just since 4.01! I could dig up some more guffaws from further back but surely I have lost more laughs than I could still locate. I do recall the odd smirk, the fair snork and justified chortle, chuckle and tee-hee when bilbous related his ulbernaut - kran baby origin tale. Sadly, memory is all I have of that and the logs are lost in time.

Now that I've had my fun, lets move on to the next word.
How about "effleurage?" or better still, "glyptic!" Now there is a word fit for the Planeshift forum!

By summary judgment, we declare Lolitra the winner for her near-poetic use of the word, leaving no doubt at all of the meaning.

Our next word shall be:
Gregarious/Glyptic

To make this more of a challenge, we will be using two words this week. Their dissimilar nature should prove to be somewhat difficult to conjoin in a meaningful way.

Not being a gregarious sort, indeed shunning personal contacts reflexively, bilbous decided to retreat from the forums to pursue the glyptic arts, trying to inscribe the proper symbol onto a flawless diamond to bind magically into the Dark Way Glyph that would allow him to win this silly game. He was doomed to failure but his obsession compelled him to go on trying.

How hard was that?

Rikti, being a fun, friendly sort, escorted kras guests through the city in kras usual gregarious manner, talking and making commentary on the glyptic designs of the Kran buildings.  :D

Greg Arious was a garrulous sort of person who would talk to anyone at any time even when he was busy carving cryptic symbols into his polished rock collection. One day he was talking to a new friend he had just met and he got so engrossed in the discussion that he messed up the monogrammed pendent he was making for Erregula Mandrilla. He never skipped a beat in the conversation, he just pulled down a rasp and started the plane of the E-glyptic.

By summary judgment, we finally declare Prolix the winner for his fine use of not one, but two obscure words. On to the next challenge.

Our next word shall be:
C-Y-O
(choose your own)
Since the server is still down, we will be doing things a little differently this week. The rules are simple. You choose your own obscure word, make a sentence, then challenge others to beat your writing by using your word, plus one of their own. Here are the steps.

1: Look at the previous person's new word. (this is the challenge word)
2: List your word in bold.
3: Write your sentence using their word, plus your own.
4: Wait for the next person to use the word you wrote in bold, plus their own.

The person who posts first may use any of the previous words in this thread as their challenge word.

After such an enjoyable experience at the Hydlaa Summer Festival, Beniel hoped that it would become a yearly, aestival event.

[not the most poetic of sentences, but hopefully an interesting word to kick this thing off.]

The aestivale festival had plenty of comestibles, plump tubers grown by Gruebers, fat carrots produced by Barrets, succulent kikiri raised by Chikieri, among other things.
Among other things, there was an oratorical competition where the winning speech artfully utilized anadiplosis. Anadiplosis, of course, is the rhetorical repetition of an ending of a sentence, clause or phrase, emphasized at the beginning of the next. At the beginning of the next aestivale festival we expect to see more produce, farm goods and competition. We hope to have a late summer fair every year until the crystal falls from the sky!
