The second monster idea also seems to be similar to Velnishi....

So this is a serious request for the devs, please, remake the whole game, make us feel noobs again.

If such drastic change is what you're looking for, you might want to go try and find a new game.

The progress on this Marsuveus is very interesting, and it's looking very good so far. Also looking forward to seeing how Morwen turns out.  ;)

PlaneShift News and Rules / Re: Welcome to MyPlane !!
« on: March 14, 2011, 01:28:16 pm »
This is a good advance for the game, I especially appreciate how a player can set his/her own privacy settings with regards to skills, stats, factions, and character creation information.  This seems similar to the "Cooperative Plot Creation Project" here: http://trollkeep.com/PS/

Perhaps if a few of Novacadian's ideas on the Plot Creation Project could be combined with MyPlane, such as the ability to contact other players via the site for the purposes of a planned or long-term Role-Play...

Nontheless, a great idea, well done  :)

Excellent, let me know if you need me to post an agreement to the issue, or something similar, would be fantastic to get this issue resolved for all of us.  Thanks again, LigH

Mac OSX Specific Issues / Re: Odd Graphical Issues

I have all those same things happen since the last update. In guild houses/den, I see the odd floating furniture, no more distortion though in that area like in previous updates. Whatever furniture is floating, becomes invisible in every instance of it in the rest of the room. Usually, a relog fixes everything for me after entering a new area or guildhouse. No idea how to stop it from happening in the first place. I have an iMac.

Well, I'm glad to hear it's not just me, then ;) In regards to what you said about this being a mutli-OS issue, I had no idea whether or not other players were having this same issue, as I've checked the "bugtracker" site, and seen no reports up there detailing this issue. Therefore, I assumed the problem was likely one specific to either my client, or my operating system. Also,  I posted this into the Mac section because I believed this to be something that would be more easily fixed if other users who utilized the same OS could provide their fixes for the issue, as it seems they have ;).  As it seems, the only solution currently is to try a re-log, which I'll certainly do, thank you to Dannae and LigH for helping out in that regard :)

As to your reference on the bugtracker, LigH, as I said above, I scrolled through the first two or three pages of "bug reports" and was unable to find a discussion that matched the issue I and Dannae seem to be having, and it sounds as though others are too.  I haven't posted anything on the bugtracker site, but would you like me to create a post to this effect?

Thanks again for the help, again Dannae and LigH, I appreciate the advice

Mac OSX Specific Issues / Odd Graphical Issues
« on: February 18, 2011, 12:11:49 am »
Hi all-

I'm sure this has been addressed before, but I was recently walking around in game, and encountered an issue that I was unable to diagnose.  When walking through the halls of a dark, indoor area, such as the Arena hallways (the lower parts just inside the front door), the entire area is covered in a dense, black color, and I'm completely unable to see anything, whether it be floor, or NPC monster.  I've attempted to disable, or enable shadows under Options-Graphics-Shadows, but have seen no major improvements there. I've also tried to run adaptive distance, or set a fixed minimum distance and min/max FPS rate, also without any noticeable improvements.

Similarly, inside of guildhouses (and I've only tested this inside the Red Crystal Den), I have a graphical issue nearly identical to this first problem.  The walls and floor of the structure are entirely black, and I'm unable to pick out any details of most objects placed on the ground, even finding chairs and furniture is difficult.  Also, directly in front of my avatar as he enters, there's a object that appears to be a floating door of sorts directly in the middle of the first area in the building.  Around this object is a type of distortion that begins to skew with the screen view.  Old chat tabs will be caught inside of this area, as will old loaded textures and areas, making it necessary for me to move around this first area, I'm completely unable to stand on, near, or around this area without experiencing major graphical distortion and a major FPS lag.

I'm currently running on OS X 10.6.5 on a 2.13 GHz MacBook, if that affects it at all. I've got the standard NVIDIA GeForce 9400M chipset model, if it makes a difference to this.  Also, my average ping rate to the server hovers around the 150 range, if that would have some relevance to the issue. However, I don't think it's a problem with my running specs(though I could be mistaken) , rather, it seems to be something I've quite likely overlooked in my options in my in-game toolbar.

If there's anyone who's got some perspective on this for me, I'd really appreciate some sort of feedback or advice on this, thanks :)

Koios says: They have yet to find where the coding shall lie

My guess is in development/planeshift/src/common/engine/linmove.cpp's logic.

Now just make it rhyme, and you've got a nice poem there!

In-Game Roleplay Events / Re: Games for the Gods
« on: February 17, 2011, 11:52:19 pm »
This seems like a very widely-encompassing event, with a whole spectrum of ideas and contests that you've got worked up.  I'd definitely recommend looking for some sort of help, if you intend on running all these events simultaneously.  In my experience in other RPG's, events of this type usually failed if the sole organizer was the only one who was doing the organizing and administrating of the events.  Look for some help in refereeing and arbitrating each individual contest, and also look for individuals with interest in each specific contest, and see if they're be interested in aiding you in organizing the entire event as a whole.

That being said, best of luck with the event, I don't know if this sort of thing is easy to organize around here, but nontheless, best of luck!
