When at night,
I heard the time,
When hums fell hazen,
And dripped blue from a scroll.

Colder sirens
Weighed upon mountain fog,
And arched voices, softly
upon cloves.



So we sat,
Knee to our bosom,
Closing our eyes,
flickered.

But the caves of the mind,
said they,
Know little bound
But the bounds of will.

Ah,
said I,
You speak so truly,
But think not of going,
But leaving,
When the dark holds us
So warmly,
So blindly.
