Uadjet says: Hello and welcome to the Developer's Q&A! This is an out-of-character meeting where you can hear about the development of the game and ask the Dev and GM teams any questions you might have. If you do have any questions, please line up at the lecterns in front of the stage.
Uadjet says: Question, Migg?
Migg says: well it's about flyspray
Migg says: I have tried to create an account there but failed multiple times
Migg says: I do get a note saying I have been sent an activation e-mail
Migg says: but I never receive anything
Migg says: is it something I am doing wrong?
Uadjet says: I seem to recall a post on the forum recently saying the same thing. I'll poke Talad about the activation emails.
Migg says: Yes, that was me but never got a reply
Migg says: I can't seem to manage to get PSU to run for more than 5 minutes before coredumping
Uadjet says: Ah, okay. I'll see if Talad knows anything about it.
Migg says: wanted to open a bug about it
Migg says: Thanks!
Constrabus says: If its Linux, message me on Discord, might be able to help
Uadjet says: There have been issues with confirmation emails before, and I think it's the same server.
Migg says: It is Linux, but I'm not on Discord
Constrabus says: Lets chat some other way
Constrabus says: Ill message you
Uadjet says: Ferral?
Ferral says: i have a question
Ferral says: how do i identify something
Ferral says: i have a round shield that is ancient, magical, or has special characteristics, but it says it must be identified
Uadjet says: There are two spells that can do that, with the weaker spell only working on some items.
Migg says: Ah
Migg says: You can ask Gonger to do it for you, should be others ccan help you as well
Gonger says: Yeah.
Gonger says: No problem
Gonger says: For this kind of question, you can use "channels" chat also.
Ferral says: I will ask when this is over . thank you
Uadjet says: You're learning the right Way for those spells, at least. ;)
Uadjet says: So I'll give you a brief update. Talad has been working on the Dungeon for the last few weeks, as I mentioned in the last meeting.
Thosor says: looks nice, in a bad way :)
Migg says: There was a post with a suggestions for that
Migg says: hope Talad doesn't make the dungeon that hard :D
Uadjet says: He's using a package from the Unreal Store with a lot of different modular pieces that you can assemble to make dungeons. He had to adapt some thing to make them work, but I think he's finished that part.
Gonger says: I think everybody has 100 ideas for a new dungeon...
Thosor says: Of course...
Uadjet says: Those who have been keeping up on the streams know he's been adding things like secret passages and traps.
Uadjet says: And the ability to spot them!
Thosor says: The scary female klyros
Uadjet says: So Find Traps will be an actual thing in PSU!
Uadjet says: She's no scarier than the male Klyros. Less spiky wings.
Thosor says: Just in the ambience of the dungeon, and her expression.
Migg doesn't think Gova is scary
Gova says: How about if I spread my wings and cast a bat-like shadow over people?
Uadjet says: So for new and even existing dungeons there will be little 'extras' for you to keep an eye out for.
Migg says: You could also paint your rivnak black, with a yellow bat painted on its side :D
Gonger says: So finally what Talad is doing is not a pure port to Unreal Engine, but more a new version that is running on Unreal Engine.
Migg says: so apart from the usual monsters you will have to keep an eye for traps as well?
Thosor says: unreal just crashed my system'
Uadjet says: Well, it's a port plus extras.
Gonger says: Yes, Uadjet.
Uadjet says: Because of the vastly larger map size there are a lot of areas that can only aspire to have something in them.
Uadjet says: So to avoid the emptiness being disappointing to players, little towns or dungeons or whatnot get added in.
Uadjet says: Plus adding new things is typically more fun to do and watch than bugfixing, I think. That generates more interest and keeps Talad from burning out.
Uadjet says: When he's doing 99% of the work, it's very reassuring to hear him laughing while working on the game.
Gonger says: Are there tools that would help with creating, say a small village?
Gonger says: Or would it become a major project that you cannot do alone?
Uadjet says: Talad's done it alone a couple times now.
Gonger says: What I mean is, if I decide to build a small village, or a farm to fill some space, can I do it more or less alone?
Uadjet says: Basically, there are both existing assets from Legacy and new assets either from the Unreal store or things that have been built by the Devs.
Uadjet says: You can absolutely do it alone!
Gonger says: Great. I think this information needs to be spread.
Uadjet says: Heck, there are tutorials online for making things like farms, and you can reuse the assets Talad used to make the farms he's already added.
Gonger says: So if someone is on holiday, they can spend x days to build something.
>Anysu just joined PlaneShift
>Gonger Xaraha waves at Anysu Atani
Anysu says: Thank you!!!
Uadjet says: And we do need more farmland. At some point you have to wonder where all of the food is coming from.
Anysu says: lol.. Right onto the table!!
Anysu says: Awesome!!!
Gonger says: I can give you the answer from Stonehammer point of view.
Uadjet says: I mean, in Skyrim the farms didn't grow enough food to support the people living on them, let alone the nearby cities!
Migg says: Would be nice if players could plant and grow things
Migg says: Planeshiftfille
Uadjet says: Quick recap: Talad's doing a massive dungeon with traps and secret doors that players can detect and bypass, so Find Traps will be an active skill. Also, players can make farms and towns if they want to.
Migg says: *Planeshiftville
Uadjet says: I've been looking at sod roofs for Dermorians. I think they'd like those.
Uadjet says: But that's easy.
Uadjet says: Just apply the grass to the rooftop.
Migg says: Aren't dermorians supposed to live in treehouses?
Uadjet says: And there are a few sample images - concept art, actually - for different racial styles in buildings.
Uadjet says: Mostly, but some buildings are on the ground iirc.
Migg says: so could be leaves covering the houses, but grass should do as well :)
Migg says: there are actual houses built that way
Uadjet says: I was picturing a leaves growing down from an upper branch forming the roofs of the buildings in the trees. If they can make the Water Tree then that should be simple.
Migg says: Is the tree of Xiosia transferable to PSU?
Uadjet says: And the main appeal of sod roofs is the fact that going into a town and seeing kormi on the roofs would be very cute and amusing.
Uadjet says: The one in the secret garden? Sure. It's a mesh like any other.
Migg says: Ah, so such assets transfer cleanly
Uadjet says: Yeah. Effects don't, but meshes and textures transfer just fine.
Uadjet says: Talad did mention recently sorting architecture by race instead of location, to make it easier to go with certain sytles. Like the houses in Hydlaa wouldn't be under Hydlaa, but under Ylian.
Uadjet says: That means we need more art for the different species!
Migg says: Stonehammer houses will be mines?
Uadjet says: Just found a lot of youtube tutorials on setting up working farms in unreal.
Migg says: I wonder if farms will be harvestable?
Migg says: like you go there at night and harvest some carrots ?
Thosor says: oh sure, come home from mining all day to a home in a mine.
Uadjet says: Well, Stonehammers do have towers too. Araloth kel'Maren is mostly underground, but the Pillars of Felim are carved into the wall of the stalactive. And Redstone is, I think, built in a large natural cave, so you see a lot of towers and bridges there.
Uadjet says: Hey, don't knock it! Just because it's underground doesn't mean it has to be cramped or dirty!
Anysu says: Kormi on roofs,,, cute.
Gonger says: "In a hole in the ground, there lived a hobbit." And in the movies we see how lovely those hobbit holes are.
>Uadjet raises an arm and points towards Gonger Xaraha.
Anysu nods at Gonger
Uadjet says: See?!?!
Anysu says: I agree!
Migg says: they dug underground in their home planet to make their homes, should feel natural I would think
Anysu nods at Migg
Ferral says: as a nolthir, my home would be just as cosy under water as on land.
Thosor says: Hobbit homes are just built into an embankment, as I recall. The books, I can't remember my brain images.
Migg says: there are some images for these houses in the wiki that look stunning
Thosor says: embankment in movie, i mean
Ferral says: hobbits homes are listed as in mounds or within tree roots
Migg says: we don't have hobits in PSU
Migg says: or do we?
Thosor stops looking at pointy ears and looks for furry feet.
Anysu sits on her feet
Migg says: lol
Ferral says: i wwould say not. the stonehammers would be living in large citadels possibly
Anysu nods at Migg. lol
Thosor says: yes, those in stone housed don't throw glass
Thosor says: good way to break a beer mug
Uadjet says: The Stonehammer city concept art on their Race page is quite impressive.
Ferral says: i would like to see anything related to the nolthir homes. with possible water based farms
Anysu says: Water based farms, good idea for Nolthrir.
Uadjet says: There probably isn't much in the Unreal Marketplace for that, given that it's fairly unique, but there is plenty of underwater things to start with.
Thosor says: sea anenema plants
Uadjet says: I just found myself wondering what an underwater fence would be made of before realizing that a short fence is completely useless underwater.
Migg says: will it still be possible to wander underwater?
Uadjet says: There are underwater plants for unreal. And fish. We just have to be careful not to use anything that would put too much stress on peoples' computers.
Uadjet says: Ah, that leads me to what I've started working on.
Uadjet says: I wanted to do something in the Unreal Editor, so I found a few tutorials. Not basic "How to use Unreal" tutorials, because that would make too much sense.
Anysu nods at stress on computers with graphics
Uadjet says: I've got a decent infravision process working, so that races with infravision will see the heat of things around them. It's not done, as the Unreal Editor goes at a snail's pace on my PC, but it is working. I just have to make sure it's set up properly for use in PSU.
Uadjet says: It's actually much the same process as nightvision, which I will tackle next if the first turns out usable.
Uadjet says: Then there is underwater vision/effects, and heat distorion. So I may be able to add something to Unreal in the next few weeks. :)
Migg says: cool!
Uadjet says: Looking at it, I seem to recall that most races have some sort of enhanced vision. Except Stonehammers and Lemurs, who actually live underground.
Uadjet says: I'm assuming that will change.
Uadjet says: Kran have infravision, and Stonehammers and Lemurs probably should as well. Most of the rest would have nightvision, or some kind of enhanced vision in water.
Ferral says: erm . stonehammers and lemur will most likely have night vision/infravision
Thosor says: ylians are just mundane.
Ferral says: nolthir will have enhanced underwater vision at least
Thosor says: see polarized light like some shrimp?
Uadjet says: I thought about polarized light, but have no idea how to implement it.
Ferral says: that is a very difficult thing to grasp the concept of even. but a kind of enhanced aura around objects and colour changes for movement is how i would envision it
Ferral says: there is also a possible ultra sound detection ability
Thosor says: bats do it
Uadjet says: There is a vid I saw explaining how to set up underwater effects that may be compatibly with PSU.
Uadjet says: For ultrasound, I'm not sure anyone's ears are quite large enough for that to work. :D
Thosor says: chemical tracing and emitting like ant and other insects.
Thosor says: scents, maybe.
Ferral says: dolphins and whales have little to no ears. they still use it
Thosor says: If I can smell beyond my own...
Thosor says: whales are sonic
Thosor says: elephants hear subsonic.
Migg says: these seem hard to implement
Ferral says: lemur would be more adept at smells than most
Migg says: does the server keep track of player's paths to ensure there is a scent trail behind them?
Thosor says: droppings?
Ferral says: the more this is discussed the more complicated it appears to be
Thosor says: imagine consumer droppings, ewww!
Uadjet says: The game doesnt' keep track of player paths, though I have seen a few packages that could. Footprints in snow or sand, for example.
Thosor says: ok, too much overthinking.
Anysu says: Sounds complicated.
Migg says: we managed all these years without all these things
Migg says: and seems to me this is going to make PSSU even more demanding than it is
Ferral says: running on land and then through a river is not the same, we still do that in game. the complicated is simply removed and we travel at the same speed
Uadjet mods. "We have, but I think at least a few versions of enhanced vision would be nice to have."
Uadjet says: These would be done via toggle, so they wouldn't be a problem for anyone not choosing to use them.
Thosor says: On another note, I can't imagine a new player making it through the Unreal intro without going elsewhere.
Anysu nods at Migg
Uadjet says: So, we're well past the hour. Any questions?
Thosor says: What is the meaning of life?
Ferral says: 42
Thosor says: hehe
>You spawned 65 Greater Potion of Healings to your inventory.
>Uadjet dropped 65 Greater Potion of Healings.
Thosor says: you dropped your medication, uadjet
>Name changed successfully
>Uadjet picked up 65 Indigestion Cure-Alls
Thosor says: hehe need it after yesterday.
Anysu says: lol.. 42.
Ferral says: this was an interesting meeting. i will try to be at more of them and may have questions then
>Constrabus Gegami thanks Uadjet!
Thosor says: Ah, just in time, was still sluggish.
Anysu says: Thanks for the potions.
Uadjet says: There you go. After yesterday's meal, it seems appropriate.
Anysu nods
Ferral says: thank you
Gonger says: I did not overeat, but thank you.
>Anysu Atani salutes Uadjet with respect.
Migg says: Thank you :D
Thosor says: thanks.
Anysu says: Thank you for the PSU updates and the spot on teleport, Uadjet.
Uadjet says: So, if there are no more questions I think we can bring the meeting to a close. Thank you all for coming, and I'll see you at the next meeting in two weeks!
Ferral says: i need to afk so thanks for this.
Migg says: Thanks for the updates!
Migg says: and all the events!
Thosor says: happy new cycle
Thosor says: oh, new year
Thosor says: ooc here.
Migg says: I should say it has been an eventful year :D
Migg says: standing at 186 events, though some in here will beat that nuumber easily :)
Anysu says: Yes great events!
Uadjet says: Gonger's got the record for event, I'm pretty sure.
Migg says: Yep, I believe so too
Migg says: Well, so long everyone, see you!

Uadjet says: Hello and welcome to the Developer's Q&A! This is an out-of-character meeting where you can hear about the development of the game and ask the Dev and GM teams any questions you might have. If you do have any questions, please line up at the lecterns in front of the stage.
Thosor says: Here are the writeups of the gathering yesterday, It was very interesting, and somewhat sad.
Thosor pipes down as meeting begins.
Uadjet says: So line up at the lecterns if you have a question. If not, I'll give you a brief update on things.
Uadjet says: Ah, Damola?
Damola says: Just a little update on performance aspects. I was a bit unhappy with new ThinkPad T14 AMD Gen 1 performance, but it was a mistake on my side. I misconfigured Linux to use only the lowest CPU frequency of 1,4 GHz. I wondered about it for a while but only this week I found the mistake. Well now PS Crystal Space is between 20 and 144 fps (I set a cap there as the gaming monitor cannot handle more)…
Damola says: … and PSUnreal is at a comfortable 40-50fps still with all on epic except effects on medium and another setting on high. It is as if I just bought a new laptop again. So AMD Ryzen Gen 1 should be good to go with PSUnreal.
Damola says: Even in low voltage laptop version with integrated GPU
Uadjet says: 144 fps? Don't human eyes have a max of 60 or something?
Damola grins "Well gaming people claim they can notice the difference and this 27 inch display I am using does 144 fps."
Uadjet says: Oh, I'm sure it's better. After all, the monitor doesnt' synch to our eyes. It's just another example of humans being surpassed by tech, it seems.
Damola says: However… I did not buy it for that reason but case if has a much better color spectrum and brightness than most if not all of the displays you can buy at this (quite low) sprice.
Damola says: price
Uadjet says: Thosor?
Thosor says: [hard to speak ooc hehe] My new framework laptop works well on W10 for unreal, I was ready to buy an external graphics card just for unreal, but using W10 works. It is too new for some linux drivers and unreal, but should work soon. Not cheap, though/.
Damola claims "We are… in no really important way… surpassed by tech. Did you ever consider the image pattern recognition capability of your brain. It is still… by margins unparalleled by even the most advanced AI algorithms I read about."
Damola says: Tech can do number crunching, but at real intelligence it is not even close.
Damola says: Anyone a Q?
Damola says: Me and Thosor did not really have a Q.
Uadjet says: It's an update on what tech works with PSU, which is nice to know.
Thosor says: No further questions, your Honor.
>Anysu Atani salutes Uadjet with respect.
Damola says: Its Effects on Medium and Shadows on High, everything else Epic
Uadjet says: Okay, so I'lll give you a bit of an update.
Uadjet says: Talad's been working on dungeons mainly in the last couple weeks.
Damola says: Shadow on Medium makes shadows that should be there disappear…
Uadjet says: Oh, I'm sure I mentioned it but I think in the Run Run Run vid you can watch him run around as a 5x speed Klyros for a bit. I don't know why, but it amused me greatly. Just mentioning it.
Uadjet says: But as for dungeons, he's using some packs from the Unreal Marketplace to assemble dungeons.
Uadjet says: The packs needed modification, but now that he's done that they can mostly be built without hiccup.
Uadjet says: He's moved past basic structures and is now having fun with things like traps and secret passageways.
Anysu says: oohh traps.
Damola says: Run Run Run video? Nice, need to look that up
Anysu says: Hope find traps will work in PSU
Uadjet says: I'm not sure if skills will come into play with those, but thief-types will have some fun with them I'm sure.
Gonger says: Run run run? Sounds like Eurythmic
Gonger says: Run run run? Sounds like Eurythmics
Anysu says: I do recall the Eurythmics
Thosor says: thifs on which side, the thieves using them, or trapping theives?
Uadjet says: See, now I have to listen to Annie Lennox.
Thosor says: *thieves
Anysu says: Do do that Uadjet
Gonger says: There are worse fates than this, Uadjet!
Anysu says: As for traps.. anyone with the skill I think
Uadjet says: I went with "No More I Love You's".
Thosor ponders Enki running around with a trap attached to tail.
Uadjet says: Oh, now I definitely want to see that!
Uadjet says: But it would be nice to finally have a use for the Find Traps skill.
>Anysu Atani nods at Uadjet.
Anysu says: Have 5 points already in it
Thosor says: how did you manage that, Anysu ?
Harither says: if you play unreal version and put a bug in in the tracker... it would be nice to recheck ya fixed bugs and get em closed...
Damola says: Also 5 points in Find Traps… I bet as an event reward
Gonger says: 10, even.
Gonger says: Certainly from events.
Anysu says: It was from an event in dungeon under temple
Gonger says: I have 222 in Empathy...
Uadjet says: I do that from time to time.
Harither says: i attended only the unreal event... and with next update those granted skillups are gone.
Uadjet says: Skill bonuses granted in PSU events would be lost because the character database gets ported over fresh with... I was going to say each update, but maybe it's only updates that require a new client download.
Harither says: indeed
Thosor says: Work on your legacy PS Harither they will be carried over.
Harither says: but someone need to find bugs
Harither says: we really try to crash the server and try to find severe bugs to make the game more enjoyable
Thosor says: a bug yesterday: Just driving my drifter to OJa crashed server over and over, not wearing any enchantments.
Thosor says: I didn't check if in bug reprts yet.
Uadjet says: That's pretty harsh, if it crashes the server. Only on a drifter?
Thosor says: I never noticed running on foot. I won't report until I see if it is listed or not.
Thosor says: Only recently I can play on unreal, tried for over a cycle [year] to get my bench amd unit working, still won't.
Thosor says: Framework is all intel.
Gonger says: I hope to find more energy for PSU testing between the years. 2021 was tough, work-wise.
Thosor says: something tells me '21 was going to be a bad year.
Thosor says: Especially if you and me bring it in together...
Thosor says: sorry....
Uadjet says: I've been digging around through Unreal tutorials, and I've found a few that could be useful. Like ways to add thermal and night vision to games.
Thosor says: Nolthrirs have that attribute, right?
Uadjet says: I don't know if they'll work with PS, but I'll give them a go.
Anysu says: Night vision for enki be great.
Uadjet says: Nightvision for Nolthrir and Enkidukai, yes.
Damola says: And Klyros?
Thosor says: maybe klyros have eagle vision>?
Damola says: Not sure about lore at the moment.
Uadjet says: Dermorians have nightvision as well. And Klyros. And Ynnwn. And Diaboli.
Uadjet says: Kran have infravision.
Thosor says: But are they blinded by bright things?
Thosor says: like my shining personality?
Uadjet says: Seems like Stonehammers and Lemurs should have some form of low-light vision.
Gonger says: Blinded by the Light? (Now Uadjet needs to listen to Bruce Springsteen)
Gonger says: Aye, we spend so much time in mines and underground
Uadjet says: And the Dermorians developed night-vision in the Stone Labyrinths... where they were for 25 years. One-eighth of their average lifespan.
Anysu grins at the Springsteen line.
Thosor says: no vitamin D down ther, should be added to beer.
Thosor says: No, then they would overdose...
Carahaij says: yeah most races have some degree of dark vision for living in the labyrinths and such
Damola says: Given you also take K2 with D3 it is difficult to overdose. But of course this is no medical advice.
Thosor says: of course
Thosor says: but good advice
Uadjet says: I did note a while back that most races do have some sort of nightvision except the two races that still iive underground. :D
Thosor says: didn't notice you slink in.
Uadjet says: So infravision and nightvision are possible. There are also tutorials for gliding, though i suspect those are more challenging to incorporate. I know when I turn gravity off for myself the advanced locomotion system keeps trying to put my feet on the ground, and that could cause a problem with any kind of gliding addition.
Damola says: hmmm, which one is the run run run video?
Anysu says: Darn. Not helpful for Klyros.
Thosor says: maybe gills out of water are infrared sensing, like cobras.
Uadjet says: It's possible that it can be turned off while in gliding mode. I haven't asked yet. But it would be nice to have a little bit of gliding in. Safe fall, at the very least.
Thosor says: I miss the button to float in unreal, was good for looking at the map
Thosor says: was it a linux only thing?
Uadjet says: Ah, the 'physics-off' button?
Uadjet says: That was fun.
Thosor says: it was helpful, but limited in my barely working amd machine.
Thosor says: since we are still in debug mode...
Thosor says: although might not be good for the server.
Thosor says: bungee jumping...
Uadjet says: I was able to use that to get to places that weren't supposed to be available before the GM commands were working.
Anysu says: Ptero mounts for players.
Uadjet says: Any more questions?
Uadjet says: Oh, ptero-mounts are restricted by settings, not mechanics.
Anysu says: awe...
Uadjet says: I'm still pushing for Velnishi as mounts, myself.
Thosor says: The TAIL!!
Anysu says: Velnishi be cool mount
Thosor says: enkis are bad enough...
Anysu says: Rivneks have tails.
Thosor says: no stinger...
Thosor says: enkies hide something in there, like a dagger or something.
Thosor rubs his face scar...
Uadjet says: There are some kind of spikes that enkis wear on their tails in the lore somewhere. I've seen a sketch or two.
>Anysu Atani grins impishly.
Thosor says: I do believe I got it during a haircut though, she must have slipped with her razor and put me to sleep somehow.
Anysu says: Spikes on tail...
Thosor says: Or bumped me with her horns, you know, the hairdresser near the market.
Uadjet says: Or blades.
Anysu says: Tail blades...
Uadjet says: But if there are no more questions, I should probably run out and get my cat some food.
>Anysu Atani grins impishly.
Uadjet says: Unleash the Anysu!
Anysu laughs
Thosor says: catfood shortage here last few weeks
Carahaij says: tell the cat i said hi
Uadjet says: Thank you all for coming, and I'll see you again at the next meeting in two weeks!

In-Game Roleplay Events / Snow Globes!
« on: December 25, 2021, 05:38:31 pm »
At today's event I provided some snow globe sketches for people to use as a base to create their own snow globes. I'll post the link here so that people can download the basic snow globe to make more:

Snow Globe XML

Just download that and place it in your sketches folder, which is in the Planeshift folder located here:

Windows XP   %appdata%\PlaneShift
Windows 7   C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\PlaneShift
Mac OS X   ~/Library/Application Support/PlaneShift
the "~"-sign is the path to "/Users/UserName"
Linux   ~/.PlaneShift
the "~"-sign is the path to "/home/UserName"

If the sketches folder doesn't exist, you can create it. It should be in the same folder as your logs and screenshots folders.

Also, post your sketches! You can take a screenshot (/screenshot nogui lossless) and post it in this thread!

Migg says: don't remember what event these came from
>Migg Ellorean raises a drink to Uadjet before gulping it down. Cheers!
Fliks says: sadly i cannot join you down there migg as there is no ladder out of my fortress
Fliks says: good view of the place tough
Migg says: that's like an upside-down parachute
Damola says: Ah, some apple cider. Very nice, Uadjet.
Migg says: pretty sure they don't work upside down :D
Fliks says: they might because if they are upside down it turn inside out
Fliks says: then it be round the right way
Uadjet says: Okay, so the first update I've got is that Talad's got the mounts working. They should go where you aim them and at the right speed.
Fliks claps at Uadjet
Damola says: Yeah I noticed 0.7.15 update.
Migg says: \o/
Damola says: I already updated, but had no chance to play yet.
Migg says: wait, what do you mean where you aim them?
Migg says: you have to shoot them like arrows?
Uadjet says: Ahh, I should have mentioned the 7.15 update first.
Fliks says: i asume like you do with your character at the moment
Damola says: Its not yet announced on the website.
Uadjet says: But mounts could, at times, just not go where you wanted. He's got that fixed.
Migg says: so PSU is almost done!
Uadjet says: It's getting closer, that's for sure.
Uadjet says: If you go to the wiki and the roadmap page, there are a lot of things flagged as "DONE".
Uadjet says: It's really nice to see.
Damola says: Yeah. And it is such an amount of work Talad and others have done.
Uadjet says: He's also done work on Talents again.
Uadjet says: Those are the special abilities that are unlocked upon reaching certain skill level milestones.
Fliks says: oooh
Uadjet says: Those aren't finalized, and some skills need new Talents. Talad said that ideas are welcome, so if you have thoughts on what Talents would work for certain skills, feel free to suggest them!
Damola says: I think I first need to see an example for them. I do not have the time to watch all of his streams.
Uadjet says: If you look at stream 593 at about 2 hours 52 minutes in you can see him scroll through a list of sorts.
Damola says: Thank you.
Uadjet says: I know he's looking more for active talents than passive ones, but any thought is welcome.
Damola says: Ah, it is not just for combat or so, but also for harvesting, like "Tuber Farmer"
Damola says: And they are automatically activated at certain skill levels?
Uadjet says: I think the gathering skills getting more items at certain skill thresholds is a fairly decent passive bonus, but there could be active ones as well.
Damola says: Is it also planed for magic? Might not apply to well there, I don't know
Damola says: Ah, there is also something about the ways
Uadjet says: Does anyone else pause videos to read a list, then try to scroll down while the vid is paused to read the rest of the list?
Uadjet says: Maybe it's just me...
Damola says: haha
Migg says: muscle memory
Uadjet says: I can't recall.. Did I mention the new creature animations last meeting?
Uadjet says: Ah, I must have. That was over two weeks ago.
Damola says: I think you mentioned something. I hope that animations for female chars get adapted. Damola in PSUnreal when walking has a bit "Hey, what do you want, you little something?" kind of walk
Damola says: It is funny in a sense.
Uadjet says: But for those who missed it, the new system allows for easier addition of new animations for things like gobbles and whatnot.
Damola says: Nice talent to guess prices of items
Uadjet says: I've forgotten which stream it was, but Talad had a lot of fun racing around as a Klyros at something like 8x normal speed. :D
Fliks says: oh i want to rey that
Fliks says: try*
Migg says: that's something reserved for GMs?
Fliks says: zooming around hydlaa
Damola says: haha, major appraising… to guess house prizes so you know when the GMs are ripping you off!
Migg says: :D
Damola chuckles
Fliks says: speed potion
Migg says: double addlepated kormi grab?
Migg says: if anyone has read the noob comic
Damola says: It is nice to see how Talad already adds things to PSUnreal that are not in Crystal Space PS.
Uadjet says: I think that's reserved for Devs!
Damola says: So the update will not just update the graphics, it will also have new maps and then even new features already. It is much more than a 1:1 port.
Uadjet says: It was part of his attempt to get the game to let players move at mount speed instead of normal player speed while mounted.
Uadjet says: Oh, the full port? Yeah, the map is far bigger than it is in Legacy.
Uadjet says: So many places to put things...
Uadjet says: I knew where some things are supposed to eventually go (once they're build), but a few places are perfectly set up to be important and I'm not sure what goes there.
Damola says: When running through PSUnreal world I still come the occasional items that is not yet at the right location like signs that show the way, or plants and such
Uadjet says: There will also be new features like Talents.
Uadjet says: Ah, yes. Some of the items placed outside cities are like that. Quite a few are floating, or are in strange places.
Uadjet says: The terrain has changed in the process of making everything one map.
Damola says: Shall we report those? Not easy to do, I think the position command is not yet working
Uadjet says: Report them if you find them, yeah. I think... Is it /loc that's working?
Migg says: also, I have trouble creating an account in flyspray
Damola says: In CS PS it is /pos
Damola says: Is it /loc in PSUnreal?
Uadjet says: I may be cheating and using the /info command in PSU. Reporting the name might work, as those signs are often uniquely named.
Migg says: is there a new set of commands in PSU?
Uadjet says: The commands for players should be the same.
Uadjet says: Hopefully the commands for GMs won't be too different. :)
Thosor says: how to change mouse button assignments and the like?
Fliks says: i have to go now
Uadjet says: Those will be in the in-game options, like they are in Legacy.
Thosor says: so still in build.
Thosor says: My char was taken away to heaven.
Thosor says: Tald needed him more than us mortals.
Thosor says: *Talad
Uadjet says: I think that's all I had planned to mention. Let's see... Events will be posted in the next few days. I'm missing one event and several I have plans for need better names.
Leeza says: That impresses me Thosor
Thosor says: hehe
Uadjet says: There's a book fair event coming up in January, so if you have books you'd like to sell that would be a good time.
Thosor says: The mounts ride better now, but..
Uadjet says: Not perfect yet? I haven't tried 7.15 just yet.
Damola says: Nice for the events.
Damola says: I did not yet try 7.15. I may log in after our dev q&a.
Thosor says: I was getting on or off, and I ended up looking like I was running sideways after dismounting, till relog.
Uadjet says: Yeah, mounts are surprisingly tricky.
Thosor says: Looked OK to Lurielle, like she doesn't see when I've lost my head.
Damola says: Ah, yes, I had Damola sitting in quite unexpected ways on her mount as well
Thosor says: I was sidesaddle...
Lurielle says: And we can´t talk while mounting
Thosor says: being mounted
Uadjet says: The "losing your head" thing is an issue with camera mode
Thosor says: helps to wear a helmet
Uadjet says: In (I tink) first person mode your head shouldn't be visable at all, so it vanishes. The issue is that we can still zoom out in first person mode, so we can see the missing head.
Thosor says: except my magical one, kills the server.
Uadjet says: Oh! And watch next Saturday on the calendar. Going to be doing a PSU event before the regular event that day.
Thosor says: It is third person follow my head goes away.
Thosor says: Or is how it looks to me.
Damola says: Oh, nice.
Uadjet says: Is it? It's first person where the head can be an issue. Hmm.
Damola says: Then we can give 0.7.15 a good test.
Uadjet nods.
Thosor says: Oh, so it is 1st person, but runs like I am used to in 3rd on legacy.
Uadjet says: Give it a good poke untl the code falls out.
Gonger says: Hmm... Not sure I can make it to the Unreal event in time...
Damola says: Need to check when it starts
Damola says: Does it start one hour earlier or even earlier, Uadjet?
Uadjet says: Earlier than that. I'm thinking three hours earlier, or 2.5
Damola says: Whoa, so you like to make something bigger this time?
Gonger says: Then I will definitely be late
Uadjet says: Well, I'm mainly looking for more of a time cushion, as hitting bugs mid-event chews up time.
Gonger says: Well, you cannot have it all :)
Uadjet says: So, any last questions?
Uadjet says: If not, I think we can wrap things up.
Thosor says: thanks
Gonger says: Thanks to the whole team for all the effort. It is much appreciated.
Damola says: Yeah.
Damola says: Thanks!
Uadjet says: Thank you all for coming, and we'll see you at the next meeting in two weeks!

Ossifus says: Hello and welcome to the Developer's Q&A!
>Anysu Atani salutes Ossifus Nallifer with respect.
Thosor says: hello!
>Anysu Atani grins at Anysu's Small Table impishly.
Ossifus says: This is Uadjet, currently inhabiting the character of the Engraver. No need to change characters, I think.
Ossifus says: If you have any questions, please step up to the lecterns in front of the stage.
Ossifus says: If not, I'll give you a brief update on what people are working on.
Damola says: No Q at the moment.
Gonger says: There was a post by Talad that the migration is far advanced.
Ossifus says: If you've been keeping up with the streams that Talad is doing, you'll know that he's been doing a lot of fixes.
Ossifus says: Oh, it is!
Ossifus says: He's done a lot of... SEE?!?! I mention him and he appears!
Talad says: hello!
>Lurielle Volanxis salutes Talad Dev with respect.
Damola says: Hi Talad.
>Anysu Atani salutes Talad Dev with respect.
Anysu says: greetings, Talad.
Ossifus says: Everyone welcome Talad to the meeting! He's the Founder and Project Lead, and the person doing the most work by far.
Ossifus says: I was just doing to give them a little recap of what you've been working on for the last three weeks.
Talad says: sure
Talad says: do it and I can integrate as needed
Talad says: yes or no? :)
Gonger says: He is speechless. A rare thing.
Damola nods "Remarkable."
Gonger says: I had just mentioned your post that the migration is far advanced.
Damola smiles "And we have a permanently running PSUnreal server now."
Damola says: It will eventually take over the role of the legacy PS server some time in the future.
Ossifus says: Okay, so Talad has finished (I think) the new character creation system in PSU.
Ossifus says: Not all of the character creation options we currently have would make sense for all races/homeworlds, so they needed an update.
Ossifus says: The latest alpha has the dryken plane up and running, so you can (and should!) test out the character creation system if you have the chance.
Damola still has to figure out the riddle there.
Talad says: Yes the character creation in the previous Alpha was not really working. But now it is. The main part was to add all options you can choose for life events
Damola says: But did not have much time to dig into it yet.
Talad says: those are now in with enough variance and topics to be interesting. A major difference in the new char creation is that you get see the effect of every choice you make immediately, there is a panel to show that
Talad says: so you can better construct your char if you care about the rules. If you dont care about the rules, you can just hide that panel and choose based on pure RP history of the char
Talad says: on the char creation , we still miss the voiceovers and many of the history illustrations
Talad says: but those will be coming soon I hope
Talad says: Other things I've been working on is to simplify the Dryken PLane level
Talad says: as it was a bit hard to complete
Damola says: Did the old game have voiceovers there? The only voiceover I remember was with Levrus.
Talad says: I did that today fixing all places in the floor where you culd fall, and simplifying access to the magic elevator
Talad says: when we will have the voice over there it will be more understandable
Talad says: Another development is the minigame with dice
Talad says: I think will be fun to see as will bring in PS something new and different from the past
Ossifus says: Yeah, that's looking like a lot of fun!
Talad says: The dice game can be played alone, or with 2 players
Talad says: maybe in the future also against an NPC
Talad says: can become a gamble game
Talad says: but that will require more work and at the moment is not planned
Ossifus says: There's already an NPC you can gamble with (Darphen?), and he's be perfect for that.
Talad says: thanks to the donations and support on Patreon I've commissioned more pieces
Talad says: including the animations for the 3 missing monsters , you saw the news on web site
Talad says: gobble, velnishi and tloke
Talad says: those are now working again
Talad says: plus we got the new server thanks to Proact sponsor
Talad says: and its working well atm
Talad says: its pretty much always up
Talad says: today I fixed the red/green indicator on login for that server, was a problem with system date
Talad says: so now you should see it green when its up
Talad says: overall good progress, still need more devs to speed up.
Damola says: Oh, I think I did not yet install ntp onto the server. Will do.
Damola says: Ok. done. :)
Damola says: Server time will be calibrated with NTP from now on.
Ossifus says: So that's been a very busy three weeks for Talad. Any questions about that?
Talad says: If you have some bugs open on bugtracker, please check if those are fixed and request closure
Talad says: and in general its good if you can test PSUnreal as we need to find more bugs if present
Damola says: I mentioned that crash in Hydlaa for PSUnreal under Linux is gone with 0.7.14. You can close this bug.
Thosor says: Yes, I haven't yet crashed in hydlaa
Damola says: #7273
Thosor says: But I've always been the only player.
Damola says: Oh, how about gossip chat in PSUnreal? How can we do this?
Thosor says: screenshots?
Damola says: I have been online in PSUnreal briefly and saw you Thosor. I think it would be good to have a gossip chat channel again
Talad says: ok, closed it
Thosor says: not important, other ways to do it.
Ossifus says: Last I checked, /shout was worldwide.
Damola says: I see.
Ossifus says: So for testing purposes, you can use that.
Thosor says: yorlak and I could shout from anywhere.
Damola says: Might not be too realistic, that one can shout world wide. But might be a nice idea for a new spell. You can shout normally and reach farer than with regular talk. And then you can use Sound glyph and maybe another sound glyph to Magically Shout and reach farer?
Damola grins
Thosor says: instant groffels
Damola says: Of course first porting over what is still missing is more important.
Damola says: Well even with Magical shout I wouldn't make it world wide.
Talad says: the chat in PSunreal is not supporting custom channels yet
Talad says: not very high priority, but I will add that back in the future
Damola says: well for event we can have already group chat. Would be nice to have an event in PSUnreal again, now that we have permanent server.
Damola says: Event is good for testing PSUnreal.
Talad says: yes, I can also do another testing weekend event
Thosor says: and fun.
Talad says: Linux is still weak , crashing often with VK_DEVICE_LOST error
Damola says: I think till 0.7.15 is still some time in?
Damola says: I do have a regular crash at quiting PSUnreal Client or Launcher.
Thosor says: I haven't crashed with that error yet, on Linux
Ossifus nods. "Can do. I just have to think of where to take you all."
Damola says: I could report this as well.
Damola says: During playing I did not have a crash with 0.7.14 yet.
Talad says: need more content and fixes for 0.7.15
Damola says: Yeah.
Thosor says: It may be my problem, possibly other windows clashing, but I get flashing and different parts of graphics wink out of existance for a fraction of a second.
Thosor says: I'll run it by itself to check.
Thosor says: right now this room is perfect, but the unreal window is doing the flashing next to it.
Ossifus says: I can add that the commissioned art is quite nice!
Talad says: I have to go, nice talking to you guys
Talad says: see you!
Ossifus says: The artist is doing faction symbols at the moment? I saw a Talent symbol too, I think.
Damola says: See you.
Ossifus says: Bye!
>Thosor Riereri bows to Talad Dev.
Gonger says: Thanks for the great work!
Ossifus says: Oh, and one thing he didn't mention is his work on Talents, which will be new to PS>
Ossifus says: Well, mostly new.
Ossifus says: If you log into PSU and look at your skills, you may notice things along the path from 0 to 200.
Ossifus says: Evety so often you'll get a Talent, which could either be a passive bonus/ability, or maybe an active ability.
Ossifus says: Just pulling examples from the aether, it could be something like a high skill in Shields would allow a shield bash. Or a high skill in Blacksmithing could reduce the time it takes to do things.
Gonger says: Interesting
Ossifus says: I don't have info on what the Talents will be, but they're something to look forward to.
Gonger says: And how would these talents be granted?
Gonger says: Randomly, or at a certain skill lever, or...?
Thosor says: grinding :)
Ossifus says: Talad's done a couple streams on them recently, and they'll be on the youtube channel: www.youtube.com/user/PlaneShiftOfficial/videos
Ossifus says: At certain skill levels.
Gonger says: So what does this mean for someone who has a veryhigh skill level already?
Gonger says: We all receive dozens of talents for our high skills?
Anysu says: Good question, Gonger.
Ossifus says: Oh, it's possible. If you look at stream 571, at around 1:57:00 you'll see a partial list for combat skills.
Ossifus says: And yes, you'll get the Talents your skills deserve. I'm not sure if players are supposed to get a popup or something to explain new Talents, as that would be more complicated with established characters.
>Anysu Atani nods at Ossifus Nallifer.
>Anysu Atani cheers happily!
Gonger says: Ok, in any case, it sounds very interesting.
Ossifus says: The reason I don't call it totally new is that the combat maneuvers we already have are Talents, and I THINK they'll be done as a combination of skill and quest to unlock.
Damola says: We have one hour.
Damola says: I think there are no questions anymore. Or are there?
Gonger says: Thanks for the information.
Ossifus says: I don't think so. Anyone?
Thosor says: no more questions, your Honor.
>Anysu Atani salutes Ossifus Nallifer with respect.
>Damola Etedi waves.
Damola says: See you!
Ossifus says: So Talents are streams 571 and 572, if you want to check them out.
Ossifus says: Thank you all for coming, and we'll see you again in two weeks!

In-Game Roleplay Events / The Engraver at the Weekly Market
« on: November 14, 2021, 12:18:48 pm »
Every so often a GM will bring an Engraver character to the Weekly Market on Sundays or at random times on other days. The Engravers are capable of changing the Name and Description of items1, though not the models/icons. Keep an eye out, if you want your equipment personalized for just a few Circles! To keep track of when the markets are, you can just check the Calendar!

1This works on nearly all items, though on occasion with Tools it causes an issue. The one thing that does break is a musical instrument if the name is changed. Change the name of a Lyre to anything else and the game won't let you use it to play music anymore. The description can still be changed, however.

PlaneShift News and Rules / Dev Q&A October 24th, 2021

Tuathanach(Rules)
Zunna (Rules/Settings)
Mordaan (Settings)
Venalan (Settings Lead)
Uadjet(GM Lead)
Emaline (GM Team)
Zweitholou (Art)

Uadjet says: Hello and welcome to the Developer's Q&A! This is an out-of-character meeting where you can hear about the development of the game and ask the Dev and GM teams any questions you might have. If you do have any questions, please line up at the lecterns in front of the stage.
Fayrene says: .... ack.... i forgot again what i wanted to ask....
Uadjet says: I've forgotten what I was going to tell you all about before, so I know how that feels.
Damola wonders why she has a Mother of Pearl Purify Glyph "What event was that?"
>Damola Etedi dropped a Gas Glyph.
Anysu says: lol I see Anysu's table!
Uadjet says: For the past few weeks Talad's been primarily working on character creation in PSU.
Uadjet grins.
Uadjet says: You noticed that quickly!
>Damola Etedi picked up a Gas Glyph
Fayrene says: oh that is nice!
Anysu says: Yeah. I was afk a bit ago. Saw it now. Great! Continue!
Fayrene says: but that one guy on the video today needs his breast raised up...
>Teleported Eroton Elesey to meetingore in instance 345
Anysu says: Thanks Dam
Uadjet says: I missed it. Was it a Ynnwn or Diaboli? They do look like they need a 'bro'.
Anysu says: Damola
Anysu says: Thank you
Uadjet says: That reference was for Seinfeld fans.
Gonger says: Please welcome Eroton to his first Meet the Dev!
Damola whispers to Anysu "You are welcome. But careful when researching this one. It tends to explode randomly."
Fayrene says: i take a look which one it was
Uadjet says: Welcome, Eroton!
Anysu nods at Damola
Fayrene says: Fholen Medraa was it, Uadjet
Uadjet says: If you have any questions, you can line up at the lecterns in front of the stage.
Uadjet says: Yeah, Ynnwn.
Fayrene says: maybe he is a she *chuckles*
Uadjet says: The textture mapping just needs an adjustment.
Fayrene says: hmmm... i think you only need to work a little bit on the mesh
Uadjet says: So as I was saying Talad's been working on (and completing) the character creation process in PSU.
Uadjet says: Some of the choices have been altered to match the lore better, as the newly created characters are coming from their homeworld in all cases except Kran and Lemurs.
Uadjet says: He also altered some that he thought were too grim, I think. For a big rock, he's a bit of a softie.
Fayrene laughs
Fayrene says: i hope he altered the background music too so that it doesnt overwhelm the speaker (talad)
Gonger says: Yeah, he was collecting background ideas on Discord.
Uadjet says: I did mean to ask him about leftover points in character creation. As the point costs of all options are determined by a specific formula, it seems like it wouldn't be too hard to allow players to use the same to spend whatever points aren't used up by their choices.
Damola says: That would be nice to be able to use the left over points
Fayrene says: are all the choices there now? i had problems with them by some of the races
>Anysu Atani nods at Damola Etedi.
Uadjet says: I'll have to test it out as soon as the new alpha is ready. I don't think that'll be long, as Talad will want people to test character creation out.
Fayrene says: ah good!
Uadjet says: There is no better way to find bugs than to let a horde of monkeys go jump on things!
Damola looks to Anysu "He called us monkeys, did you hear that?"
Fayrene says: ehehehhehehehehehe (loves to be a monkey)
Anysu says: He did Damola!!!
Uadjet says: And I'm counting myself as a monkey, so don't take offense.
Anysu says: I am shocked...
>Anysu Atani grins impishly.
Damola chuckles happily
Fayrene laughs
Uadjet says: I think there should be OOC achievements tied to the account, not the character. One category should be bug-hunting, and the icon for the top tier is a character jumping up and down on a server.
Fayrene says: then tell that cute tiger that he should lower the background music in the chara creation because i cant understand what he is saying XD
Damola wonders whether Gonger feels comfortable wearing this crazy helmet even at a court meeting.
Damola says: Not a character of PS; but a monkey jumping up and down on a server.
Damola grins
Uadjet says: I've dropped so many players on his head at events he really does need the protection of a helmet.
Fayrene chuckles
Uadjet says: Anyways, Talad took a bit of a break from character creation to work on minigames.
Gonger says: Always be prepared...
Fayrene says: oh, minigames?
Uadjet says: He purchased a dice-rolling module for Unreal, which we can then use to create games. Players will be able to dice against each other, or against the server.
Fayrene says: ah, was it the one in the video?
Uadjet says: A card game would be fun too, though we'd need to come up with PS-specific cards. At least the suits should be unique.
Uadjet says: It was, Fayrene.
Fayrene says: fine!
Fayrene says: but card game? maybe a tarot-like one?
Uadjet says: That's entirely possible.
Anysu says: Oh a dice roller then we do not have to type rolls out when do games at events
Fayrene says: with dakkru as death *chuckles*
Anysu nods at Fayrene idea
Gonger says: I may have mentioned it before. I used to play on my good old C64 a RPG, Legacy of the Ancients, where you also did minigames to gain stat points
Uadjet says: Using the Gods as cards could work. Our only government ranks are Vigesimi and Octarch, so that's a bit... stunted.
Gonger says: Like, dodging fireballs, or shooting at targets.
Fayrene says: hmmm... we could use the laanx temple as the tower-card
Damola says: Interesting, Gonger. I am not aware of this game. But we had a C64 as well.
Uadjet says: For suits... The Gods might work. Just because there are four of them. I thought of the Bronze Doors, but there are seven of them and that's a lot of suits.
Fayrene says: and the winch maybe?
Fayrene says: the eagle fortress would work well too i think
Fayrene says: oh, and that crazy plant and the giant stalg would fit as cards too
Gonger says: Suits for the Cities?
Anysu says: Or the windowless tower as tower card
Fayrene says: yes, and the stone head.... what could that one be?
Fayrene says: i think here are enough interesting things which could be used as cards
Uadjet says: I think we could build a couple decks quite easily.
Fayrene says: yes
Fayrene says: one with animals, one with buildings etc
Anysu says: All good ideas. Could start a thread under ideas on our discord server to discuss such card game ideas.
Uadjet says: That works. And maybe a thread on the forum, for those who haven't joined Discord.
Anysu says: That is good idea as well Uadjet
Fayrene says: that is what i like on these game. you can discuss with all on ideas for the game
Anysu nods at Fayrene
Uadjet says: Talad's also been working on quest fixes. Those streams were mostly done while I was prepping for the event or away from home, but I did see him working on waypoints a bit.
Uadjet says: You know how some NPCs move from place to place depending on time of day? That's what I'm talking about.
Fayrene says: oh? waypoints? these one are quite nice!
Uadjet says: Those were, I think, all done with coordinates. New engine, new map, new coordinates for everything.
>Anysu Atani cheers happily!
Uadjet says: Also, he was working on Trasok's script, which has him go from counter to his private smithing equipment and back again.
Fayrene says: ah.... i have a funny idea about these ones..... kikiri left home and you have to catch it *laughs*
Uadjet says: That can be used in a lot of places, actually. Jomed, for example, could move around his kitchen.
Fayrene says: umm.... in that small kitchen....
Fayrene chuckles
Anysu says: But wouldn't it be rude for the npc to wander around as someone is talking to them of a quest?
Fayrene says: that you can stop with commands if i think correct
Uadjet says: Well, Jomed IS rude, but that's a good point. I'm just not sure if there's a way for the engine to know if someone has a dialogue window open or not. Maybe a delay of x time after someone opens a dialog?
Fayrene says: or a "if - then - else" thingy
Fayrene says: if unreal has that sort of command that means
Gonger says: If a NPC starts to walk, just talk to them, and they will stop.
Fayrene says: yeah, something like that
Uadjet says: It would help me a lot, given how many times I've had to teleport a guard back after they wandered off.
Fayrene says: yeah ...
Anysu says: How rude,,,,
Fayrene says: eheheheh
>Anysu Atani grins impishly.
Uadjet says: The number of times I threatened to staple Jefecra's fuzzy backside to the ground...
Fayrene says: not that he didnt need it sometimes *chuckles*
Uadjet says: But Talad's been getting that all sorted out, so we can create little activities to make the NPCs a bit more lively.
Fayrene says: that would be nice! i hope that there will be children too which are running around and play hide and seek
Uadjet says: That would be fun, but we'd need new/adapted meshes and textures for kids. Just shrinking the current models down gives very odd proportions.
Fayrene says: that is true
Anysu nods at Uadjet
Fayrene says: sadly im not good at that.....
Damola smiles "That would be nice, children playing hide and seek :)"
Fayrene says: hmmm.... arent there children-meshes for free in the unreal shop?
Fayrene says: in one of the videos i saw talad shopping in the unreal shop XD
Uadjet says: Mmmmm... I'm not sure. But they would then have to be adapted to match the races we have in game. Ylian would be the easiest, but some of the others would be much harder.
Fayrene says: hmmm... maybe not... because they are young. they shouldnt have horns etc then
Fayrene says: only the eyes and the color could be changed
Uadjet says: Those would be pretty easy, I think.
Fayrene says: and maybe a little bit thingies there where horns and wings will grow later
Fayrene says: hmmm... the dwarf could be a problem XD
Fayrene says: sorry.... stonehammer
Gonger says: Dwarves is perfectly ok
Fayrene smiles at Gonger
Uadjet says: Not likely a high priority at the moment, though. We'll need the game working for adult characters before we can work on creating child NPCs.
Fayrene says: true
Fayrene says: it was an idea for later
Gonger says: "Ideas for later - a novel in 15 volumes"
Uadjet says: Right now I'm working on trying to balance out the races/genders a bit. There aren't many of some, and it would be nice to at least decrease the disparity.
Fayrene laughs
Anysu nods at Gonger
Gonger says: Are there plans to give different stats at some point to different races?
Gonger says: Because obviously klyros are of a different built than kran
Fayrene says: hmmmm.... could be interesting
Uadjet says: Other than the starting attribute bonuses? There are plans, sure, but I think we're all going to keep the same maximum stats.
Uadjet says: Differences other than that would take a bit more work. Like low-light vision or infravision, or gliding, or water-breathing.
Fayrene says: that with the races.... some of them have no female pendant. will that be changed sometimes?
Fayrene says: i think on the white haired and white hided guy.. dermorian i think
>Overriding race for Uadjet to dermorian
Uadjet says: This guy?
Fayrene says: no
Fayrene says: hmmm.... ah... not dermorian but derghyr
Fayrene says: or what the new race is called
Uadjet says: Lemur?
>Resetting race for Uadjet
Uadjet says: I'm a derghir. :D
Fayrene says: ack....
Fayrene says: okay... tell me the lemur, please
Uadjet says: Ideally each model will (eventually) have an amulet that shows on the model is a character is wearing one, but I don't think that's something that will be worked on too soon.
Fayrene says: eh... i didnt mean such a thing XD
Fayrene says: wait .... i take a look if i see that one in the video
Uadjet says: Okay. As for balancing the races/genders, the biggest gaps tend to be where we've been using substitute models. Klyros female, all Lemurs, Ylian female, etc.
Uadjet says: So there will be some new NPCs added to Hydlaa, I think, and maybe some who get 'altered'. I'll try not to make any drastic changes, as I know people are used to NPCs as they are. a
Fayrene says: lemur was it
Uadjet says: Hydlaa does need more Ylian women, though. They're the most common race in the city, and it's about 90% male.
Damola says: Yeah, does not explain all to well how they procreate, I'd say.
Uadjet says: I'm also working on a list of new NPCs for Amdeneir (the new areas), Ojaveda (ditto), and the Bronze Doors. Talad never mentioned that, but the place needs more people. It's rather sparsely guarded as is, and there's that new section in PSU that has nobody in it.
Gonger says: We should add a special quest: Design a NPC
Fayrene says: oh.... hehehehehe
Gonger says: Or a meta-quest - design a quest
Uadjet says: We'll see how many NPCs Talad will let me add, 'cause I've got a list of medieval professions and a touch of OCD.
Gonger looks quite pleased with his ideas.
Fayrene says: ocd?
Uadjet says: Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. For me, it mainly means I like things organized and I'm a completionist for every game I play.
Fayrene says: oh
Fayrene says: hmmm.... i have another idea for later.... an arena like the one in rome for festivities
Uadjet says: For the Eagle I'm trying to add a few more guards and support staff. Maybe a pterosaur handler on the top level, some archers, etc. I want there to be a commander for each of the six divisions of the Squadrons, and I think we only have one of them.
Gonger says: We have this in Ojaveda and Amdeneir, Fayrene.
Fayrene says: ohhh
Fayrene says: in ojaveda??
Fayrene says: i havent seen that
Anysu says: Yes there is arena in Oja
Uadjet says: There are (or were, at least) plans for a pterosaur Arena outside Hydlaa. No idea what that was about, but it's on some old maps I found.
Gonger says: Uadjet, I was only half-joking about Design a NPC / Quest. We really should encourage players more to contribute with these things.
Uadjet says: I agree.
Fayrene says: ehehehe
Fayrene says: can it be a plant too?
Uadjet says: Actually, designing an NPC would make a good achievement, if they add achievements that are attached to the account and not a characters. It's OOC, but worthy of note.
Fayrene says: hmmm... can you give an example, gonger?
Fayrene says: what it could be like?
Gonger says: What do you mean?
Gonger says: Create a NPC, or create a new quest
Uadjet says: It could be something as simple as a fetch quest. NPC needs a few of something, and tells a new player where they might be found. Bring them back, and get thanks and a small reward.
Gonger says: I think you have seen plenty of examples for both NPCs and quests.
Fayrene says: ah okay
Fayrene says: but.... *headscratch* .... how to do that? as a text-document?
Uadjet nods. "There are some examples in the forum, actually. I wrote some quests a while back based off the info Venalan had posted."
Gonger says: Not everybody has the time to contribute on a large scale, and that is perfectly ok. But then we have way too many players who are only consuming, and I believe there is plenty of space between these two extremes.
Fayrene says: mmmhhh.... i will take a look on the examples in the forum later. where can i find them, uadjet?
Uadjet says: I tend to overcomplicate things, but once you get used to the format of each block where a player says something and the npc responds it'd not too hard.
Uadjet says: And someone suggested x-mind as a good way to map out the conversations. Downloaded it, but haven't tested it out yet.
Uadjet says: Okay, the thread I'm thinking of is in the Development blod.
Uadjet says: Blog.
Fayrene says: ah fine!
Uadjet says: Err, the development blog section of the forum, I mean.
Fayrene says: :)
Uadjet says: Honestly, Tarzan has a better grasp on syntax than I do righ tnow, it would seem.
Uadjet says: The title of the thread is 'Quest making information and real world examples', and the last post was in 2017.
Uadjet says: Ven posted examples of how to do just about everything, so it's very useful.
Uadjet says: But if there are no questions, we're well past the hour.
Fayrene says: i have a short question
Fayrene says: when is the next event in psu?
Thosor says: no further questions, your honor.
Anysu says: Tempus fugit
Fayrene says: ??
Uadjet says: Hmm. I don't know. It'll be after the next alpha release, which should be soon. It would be good to test out the fixes Talad made.
Fayrene says: ah okay
Fayrene says: then we are finished here? ^^
Thosor says: must have bored Eroton
Fayrene says: ??
Thosor says: A newcomer to our land.
Eroton says: Sorry I'm just listening
Fayrene says: its a good thing to do so as a new player
Uadjet says: I think so. Thank you all for coming! We'll see you at the next meeting in.... three weeks!

Uadjet(GM Lead)

Uadjet says: Hello and welcome to the Developer's Q&A! This is an out-of-character meeting where you can hear about the development of the game and ask the Dev and GM teams any questions you might have. If you do have any questions, please line up at the lecterns in front of the stage.
Damola says: Haha… and how would I even do that? Travel too quickly? I am not aware of a way to do that in game.
Damola says: Reach unusual places and sneak Damola out of the regular in game map boundaries, no prob… but traveling too quickly? No idea.
Gonger says: It happens every now and then...
Damola says: Anyway, Lurielle has a Q
Uadjet says: Lurielle?
Lurielle says: I have a question about combat mode
Lurielle says: I was killing rats in oja, and I couldn´t select the rat, only myself
Lurielle says: I´d like to know if it is a bug or I am missing something
Uadjet says: Yes, and while investigating that I managed to punch myself to death.
Uadjet says: I think we can assume it's a bug. You were attacking with mouse buttons and not the attack book, right?
Lurielle says: And I got the message You cannot attack yourself
Gonger says: Do you have a video of that, Uadjet?
Lurielle says: Yes, with mouse buttons
Uadjet says: No. :P
Uadjet says: It seems that the game at least sometimes changes target to yourself when you hit tab to enter combat mode.
Lurielle says: And sometimes I can hit the creature but others no one gets hurt, but that bug is already in the bug traker
Damola says: Legacy PS or Unreal PS?
Lurielle says: Unreal
Uadjet says: I'll do some more testing on that this week, with varying critters. The combat for the promo vid seemed to work well, so maybe it's caused by certain conditions.
Damola says: Ah, interesting. I may try that next time I log in.
Thosor says: I lose comtrol of mouse buttons in combat mode
Lurielle says: Try in that small room, because I think that might be the problem
Thosor says: different variations...
Lurielle says: In the wild it didn´t select myself
Uadjet says: Yeah, that's where I punched myself to death.
Thosor says: for example, I can't get mouse pointer back to go to chat window.
Lurielle says: I have no more questions
Thosor says: and I can;t seem to get out of tab/ combat mode...
Thosor says: done
Damola chuckles "Uadjet, you do not need to do that. We players aren't that bad :)"
Dentritus says: How much xp did you get :)
Uadjet says: Huh. I didn't check.
Uadjet says: I should have.
Uadjet says: It was a newly created Lemur, so I didn't have the stats set to something ludicrous like 5k. I only did 6000 damage or so.
Thosor says: It also would target myself or Lurielle much more oftewn than the enemy.
Uadjet says: Hmm. Target priority seems odd. Proximity, maybe? Although it seems like you'd be adjacent to the enemy.
Uadjet says: Gonger?
Gonger says: Greetings. If a character gets deleted by the player, is the name of the character blocked, or can somebody else create a new character with the same name?
Uadjet says: The name is available for others to use, though a GM can block a name if a petition is filed.
Gonger says: Ah, nice to know. Thank you.
Uadjet says: We do that with inappropriate names. There's no way we can predict which inappropriate names players could come up with (imagines hordes of Fortnite players joining the game) so when we change their name we block the one that broke the rules afterwards.
Gonger says: The game is rather empty today...
Gonger says: I can give you a list of French or German names that should be blocked. ;)
>Anysu Atani nods at Gonger Xaraha.
Gonger says: Believe it or not, a few months ago I met someone in the Welcome Area who went by the name of A****loch. Loch means hole in German, I hink this is enough to fully understand that name...
Uadjet says: Ah, yes. That happens on occasion.
Thosor says: holeness monster
Gonger says: And he said, he wanted his character's character to be reflected in the name.
Anysu says: I recall that name
Gonger says: I pointed out to him that we, or at least most of us, are a bit more subtle in our behaviour.
Gonger roars with laughter.
Rykia says: lol
Uadjet says: So, Talad has done a lot of work in the last few weeks. As is usual.
Talad says: hello
>Anysu Atani salutes Talad Dev with respect.
Talad says: im actually streaming, but I can chat with you
>Anysu Atani bows to Talad Dev.
Talad says: if you have any questions or comments
>Dentritus Illythien bows to Talad Dev.
Uadjet says: Speak of the Developer, and he appears!
Rykia says: Hi Talad
>Thosor Riereri bows to Talad Dev.
Anysu says: Hello Talad
Uadjet says: I wonder if that works for all developers....
Talad says: would be nice :)
Damola says: Hi Talad.
Uadjet says: Eonwind!
Uadjet says: Eonwind!
Uadjet says: Eonwind!
Damola grins
Uadjet looks around.
Uadjet says: Nope.
Uadjet says: Apparently that only works on Talad.
Uadjet says: And Beetlejuice.
Gonger says: And a few others who should not be named...
Rykia says: Maybe Eonwindd would work? ^ ^
Uadjet says: So I was just about to let them know what you've been working on the last few weeks in your streawms.
>Lurielle Volanxis salutes Talad Dev with respect.
Uadjet says: Talad's done more work on the Dryken Plane, which is the place new players will travel through immediately after character creation.
Damola hands Uadjet a "Summon Developer" glyph
>Anysu Atani grins at Damola Etedi impishly.
Gonger says: Too bad all spells for that glyph are in the 15th Realm.
Thosor says: pager glyph
Talad says: I can give you some updates on Unreal
Uadjet says: Yes, please!
Thosor says: all ears here...
Talad says: yes the Dryken plane is a new area you will find just after charcater creation
Talad says: the reason is that you are travelling between your homeworld and Yliakum (for lemur and kran there is a slight different story, but pretty much you end up there anyway)
Uadjet says: You can also watch this at twitch.tv/planeshift OR youtube.com/user/PlaneShiftOfficial/live/
Talad says: and your travel gets interrupted, so you end up in the Dryken plane
Talad says: for the people who played D&D or such, you can associate it to the Astral Plane
Talad says: is a different plane of existance
Talad says: you need to exit from it, with a simple puzzle, but the point of the area is for you to learn about some important topics
Talad says: which will be part of the main plot of the game
Talad says: about the main plot it will giude you through different discoveries in Yliakum
Talad says: and maybe ultimately will let you understand why we are all here!
Talad says: another topics Im working on at the moment, is the character creation, to make it more user friendly to the people who wants to know the numbers behind the choices
Talad says: so you will have a way to see what effect each choice has on your initiatl stats and skills
Talad says: that is something you can hide and ignore if you are more interested to the background of the choices, more than the numbers
Dentritus says: Will there be a possibility of a quest reset, so existing characters can do these quests as well?
Talad says: I also added more ambient sounds to PSUnreal as there were not many as in PS legacy
Talad says: about the Dryken plane I would say no, as would make little sense for you to go back there
Talad says: but it doesnt really count as a quest
Talad says: its more of an intro
Talad says: prologue
Talad says: about other quests reset, that may be tricky as you may get items twice when redoing the quests
Talad says: so it may not be correct to do so
Uadjet says: The ambient sounds can also be randomized, or set to only play at certain times of day.
Uadjet says: That'll give a nice bit of realism.
Rykia says: Absolutely agree
Uadjet says: And in character creation, there's a new visual experience in there, and as new players in PSU are coming in from different worlds some of the background options will need to be adapted or just be unavailablel.
Gonger says: Sounds very very interesting.
Uadjet says: It would be really nice to see species/world specific options in there.
Talad says: I hope you will like PSUnreal :)
Thosor says: walking past a dwarven tavern vs an Amdeneir tavern sound.
Uadjet says: The plan is to avoid the min/maxing of character creation a bit. I think everyone here is experienced enough to k now that starting with 4 ranks in a skill versus 6 ranks in that skill is a really small difference.
Uadjet says: The difference of a few points in an attribute is even less significant.
Uadjet says: So the story of the background is more important than the points.
Uadjet says: People can still max things out if they want, but we don't want new players thinking they have to create the perfect character or be useless.
Uadjet says: Oh! And chat logs. Talad has also been working on getting chat logs working.
>Dentritus Illythien cheers happily at Talad Dev!
Thosor says: like scrolling?
Talad says: yes, I 've been adding few options to chat logs, as in PSUreal were not there
Talad says: and in PSLegacy they are a bit obscure, with all the possible message types in the list
Talad says: Options->Chat Logs
Thosor says: logs would help to reemember bugs encountered.
Thosor says: would logs write in real time in case server goes down in the middle of something?
Uadjet says: I believe so. Our current log system does.
Talad says: yes, the logs are client side
Talad says: and are written at every received line, so you should not lose anything
Thosor says: speaking off.. amy way to delete repettive lines in a 2 year old log? (not mac or windows)
Thosor says: such as a repeating NPC or attack.
Uadjet says: I've used Notepad++ to select lines containing certain bits of text and delete them.
Talad says: some macro from notepad++ can help
Talad says: but I dont see an easy way
Thosor says: Irs only the 21st centurt lol, thanks.
Gonger says: You can search for certain strings in Notepad++ and mark and delete them
Gonger says: But it is ... painful, yes.
Gonger says: My main log is at 55 GB
Thosor says: thats a windows app?
Uadjet says: If you look for and mark strings like "hits you for" it can be not terribly painful.
Uadjet says: And seeing thousands of lines being deleted at a time is very satisfying.
Thosor says: nvm I'll find something, not a PS problem.
Talad says: Gonger, archive it by year maybe?
Uadjet says: I'm just trying to process a 55gb log file...
Uadjet says: I don't think notepad can even open that...
Thosor says: I like to look through whole log at once, say for a familiar name or action.
Gonger says: I use a different editor also, Visual Studio Code. Superfast even on files of that size, but does not word wrap properly, because too many people use non-standard characters too often...
Gova says: I split my logs by year(ish), but stopped once I stopped generating millions of lines of crafting and combat spam.
Gonger says: Talad, I want to see all my logs...
Gonger says: Gova, you should split your logs according to activites first. There is an option for that.
Damola says: I just let Kate editor deal with the large file. Its still not perfect but they have been improving performance quite a lot meanwhile
Gonger says: Combat, Crafting, NPCs
Thosor says: I thought of loading into a line numbered page, the deleting rat bites you, rat bites you.
Damola says: 58 MiB log file for Damola meanwhile
Gova says: True. I used to have System logged in a different file. Not sure why.
Gonger says: For me it was the other way round, for a long time I had Combat in my Chat...
Thosor says: Oh, didn't think it could be so granulated. i have combat in my chat.
Talad says: I think its handy to split combat to a separate file, or not log it at all
Thosor says: not a dev problem, anyway.
Damola says: Whoa! Just tested again editor performance in current Kate. Loading of 58 MB file is almost instant. Scrolling in it is instant. And searching is a miracle even: It updates display *as you type* there is no visible delay. Searching has been a problem before, but that is insane.
Gova says: The only time I'd check my combat log is to see what killed me.
Damola says: Kate 21.08.1 on Linux, with admittedly a quite fast laptop with lots of RAM
Gonger says: Damola, does it word-wra properly? And is it Linux only?
Anysu says: Be helpful to have certain things, like combat, or crafting etc not be logged at all.
Gonger says: Check Options / Interface / Chat-Logs and define what you want to save in which log file, or not at all.
Damola says: kate-editor.org – available for Windows as well. You tried it once, Gonger, but back then searching was still slow. Now searching for me is absolutely crazy. They did something there.
Thosor says: Its in my system, will try it soon.
Damola says: I do not use fixed word wrapping on the file, it automatically wraps at window size
>Anysu Atani nods at Gonger Xaraha.
Gonger says: That is exactly what I want, Damola. I will check it again, then.
Damola says: Not sure how it behaves on Windows, but on Linux it is superfluent now. Searching has been quite an issue before, but now, zero delay.
Damola says: For as you type this is quite an achievement I'd say.
Uadjet says: Since we're on the topic of chat logs, any other thoughts on that topic while we have Talad handy?
Talad says: or any other question
Thosor says: not scrolling was my biggest complaint, when in action with another player.
Uadjet says: Damola?
Damola says: I'd consider a few changes to chat log. Chat log for a day is quite long often enough, so I'd include a date on each line. Or even use a standard time format like with "date -Iseconds"
Talad says: everytime you reopen it , it prints the day and time as header
Damola says: And it would be nice to always easily determine what chat tab a message is in. NPC and other stuff can be separated easily, however everything is main tab is just distinguishable by filtering everything else out. doable with grep, but unnecessarily complex.
Damola says: Yeah, but when you search in it, you need to scroll up quite a bit to find date of a message.
Talad says: I think I added a tag on each line now
Talad says: iirc
Damola says: Well its all not all too important.
Damola says: Ah, I did not check PSUnreal log, just going from the classic one.
Damola says: Will check PSUnreal log and open enhancement request in case I have any suggestion
Damola says: Not yet used to location of things like chat log for PSUnreal on Linux, just looking
Gonger says: I am a bit annoyed in Unreal that I have to click EXACTLY the text line to set my focus, whereas in Legacy I can click anywhere in the chat window
Uadjet says: That info is on the wiki.
Uadjet says: ~/.Planeshift I think. So /home/UserName/.PlaneShift?
Damola says: Hmm ~/.condig/Epic/PSUnreal/Saved … but do not see a chat log in there.
Uadjet says: An actual LIxux user might want to chime in.
Damola says: ini files, crash reports, PSUnreal.log, Savegames, but no chat log. Maybe I need to enable it first?
Uadjet says: In Windows it's PSUnreal/Saved/Logs, I think.
Damola says: Hmmm, PSUnreal server is not online at the moment, so can't check.
Uadjet says: Not character logs, but client logs.
Damola says: Ah, I do has PSUnreal.log in there, but no character log
Talad says: the new logs functions are not in your PSunreal client
Talad says: will be in the next alpha
Thosor says: us loded legacy log in Kate, yes, search is instant.
Damola says: Ah okay, will check then Talad.
Damola says: Thosor, before search in kate used to block for seconds or even half a minute, but now is great.
Uadjet says: Any other questions?
Damola says: No question from my side and we are way over time, aren't we?
Uadjet says: A bit, yeah. :)
>Anysu Atani nods at Damola Etedi.
Thosor says: no further questions, your Honor
Uadjet says: I'm making avacado, sweet potato, and black bean tacos tonight, and I need to do some shopping first.
Rykia says: Sounds delicious
Damola says: Sounds delicious, Uadjet! Enjoy!
Talad says: Im going to go then
Gonger says: Thanks for the great work and the information.
>Anysu Atani salutes Talad Dev with respect.
Gonger says: A shame that no more players are present today.
Damola says: See you, Talad!
Talad says: streaming on youtube and twitch in case you want to follow there
Dentritus says: Thank you and bon appetit Uadjet
Talad says: see you
Anysu says: Thank you Talad
>Lurielle Volanxis snaps to attention and salutes.
Uadjet says: I've never made them before, but my mouth is already watering.
Damola says: See you all
Anysu says: Talad is fast
Uadjet says: See you all at the next meeting in two weeks!
Lurielle says: See you!
>Anysu Atani salutes Uadjet with respect.
Anysu says: Thank you also Uadjet
>Anysu Atani waves at Small Table
Anysu says: lol
Anysu says: Bye all
Uadjet says: I'm going to rename that one Anysu's Small Table.
Anysu laughs
Anysu facepaws and chuckles
Anysu says: Bye
Uadjet says: See ya!

>Lurielle Volanxis salutes Talad Dev with respect.
Talad says: There is a conversion guide on the Wiki
Uadjet says: Hello and welcome to the Developer's Q&A! This is an out-of-character meeting where you can hear about the development of the game and ask the Dev and GM teams any questions you might have. If you do have any questions, please line up at the lecterns in front of the stage.
Talad says: for books
>Migg Ellorean claps for Talad Dev.
>Holesod Sacerey bows to Uadjet.
>Holesod Sacerey bows to Talad Dev.
>Damola Etedi bows to Gonger Xaraha.
Fliks says: :O Holesod thats my spot
Damola says: So are we starting?
Holesod says: ohh sorry Fliks
Migg says: can I ask?
>Anysu Atani nods at Talad Dev.
Fliks says: heh its fine
Talad says: sure Migg, helllo
Migg says: Are there public and normal books in PSU, like here?
Zarre says: Nice turnout for todays meeting
Damola says: Ah, interesting question.
Talad says: yes, the books should work similarly.
Damola says: Nice.
Anysu cheer
Talad says: what we miss in Unreal at the moment are maps (drawings)
>Holesod Sacerey cheers happily at Talad Dev!
Migg says: One issue here is that, once renamed, you can't tell if a book is public or not
Damola says: Will all our old books still work?
Talad says: all the books which contain only "text" will be migrated with no problems
Migg says: can there be something in the description that says which kind they are in PSU?
Talad says: the books which contain special characters, will require you to copy from text file, and paste into PSU
Talad says: consider that copy/paste works in PSU in all fields by default
Damola nods "I see. So better save all important self written books as text files before the switch."
Migg says: The syntax that exists for inserting images works the same?
Anysu says: ah the books by Migg and Anysu have pictures.
Talad says: the books with images will require some editing on your side to put them in, and there is a small guide on that in pswiki
Damola says: Cut & paste in all fields is really great to have.
Talad says: you can test that right now btw, by cuying ablank book as usual in PSUnreal
Migg says: Ah, I need to try that and see how it works
Fliks says: how do you pictures to the books
Migg says: I haven't got a link to try PSU
Talad says: the books with drawings at the moment are not supported, but hopefully will be in the future
Damola says: You should be entitled to, Migg, you are certainly playing PS for longer than 200 hours.
Talad says: maybe take a screenshot of those books just in case
Migg says: what about the distinction between public and normal books?
Gonger says: Copy / Paste will be a GREAT addition!!!
Migg says: giving away a public book allows everyone to make copies
Damola nods to Gonger
Migg says: but the description does not say which is which
Talad says: the logic of public/private is unchanged in PSU
Talad says: need to be tested though
Migg says: can we change the description of public books to say they are public?
Damola grins "If copy and paste works across all fields in PSU then you can basically copy private books as well"
Talad says: copy paste works when its an Edit box
Damola says: Ah.
Talad says: if you are only viewing a book, I think you cant
Migg says: What I am saying is that I have two books that are titled "My First Number Book"
Migg says: One is public, the other is not
Damola says: Yeah, and you want to tell them apart.
Migg says: the only way to tell is to give it to someone else
Holesod says: hmm
Talad says: we will have to add that then.
Migg says: Thanks!
Uadjet says: I think we're all really looking forward to copy/paste. It'll mean I don't have to manually edit shortcut files and reload them to get in long bits of text.
Damola says: Yeah.
Thosor says: On a similar note, when you put a crafted item into storage here, you lose the crafter's name when retreiving.
Damola says: Yes.
Talad says: consider PSU is in a pretty good state at the moment
Uadjet says: I don't recall: Do private books have an edit button for someone else?
Damola says: Would be nice to have crafter preserved in PS
Migg says: Yes they do
Talad says: what I need is more people testing it, and pointing out what is missing compared to Legacy
Talad says: and then we can take a decision to move
Damola says: I do have crash issues under Linux.
>Holesod Sacerey nods in agreement with Talad Dev.
Anysu smiles about the number books mentioned by Migg
Gonger says: I will ceratainly do more testing in the next days. I am finally on Holiday (TM)!
Damola says: Others have has well. Mostly in Hydlaa.
Talad says: yes Linux crashes are known by Epic, and they are trying to fix. its not something we can do
Thosor says: I get .16FPS there on linux
Damola says: I see.
Migg says: Not on Discord, so haven't gotten a chance to ask for a download link
Talad says: time to upgrade the PC boys
Talad says: there are some second hand good deals
Holesod says: my desktop is about 2 years old, but I built it myself
Thosor says: same box on winders 10 runs OK
Talad says: or ask a friend
Holesod says: on win10 my video card driver times out so I have been living in linux
Holesod says: amd has mucked up their drivers
Thosor says: w10 uses both graphics cards, can't tell on linux.
Anysu says: My machine is way older than 2 years.
Migg says: Have a GTX 660M, need to see how it fares
Holesod says: I can tell which gfx card I use on linux with both Mint and Ubuntu
Damola says: ThinkPad T14 Gen 1 with AMD Ryzen 4750 Pro with integrated graphics is doing between 15 and 60 fps.
Migg says: not sure it is supported
Thosor says: built mine 4 yrs agp.
Damola says: On Linux. AMD developers are still optimizing gfx drivers for Linux.
Holesod says: uh oh
Thosor says: new gcards are hundreds now, stupid bitcoin mining craze.
Holesod says: hope that the AMD devs don't muck it up like they did on windows
Migg says: pandemic has also messed up supply for all chips
>Holesod Sacerey nods in agreement with Migg Ellorean.
Holesod says: yeah I have been reading up on that
Damola says: At least here there is still more than enough supply with used PCs and laptops.
Damola says: Even this T14 I bought has been used.
Holesod says: it impacts everything serviced by semiconductors
Thosor says: I should look for a recent tpad on craigtslist, though I prefer desktop. I have enough laptops kicking around.
Damola says: I made a bargain on it. I would have paid almost double the price if buying new.
Talad says: buying new is still an issue I think
>Holesod Sacerey nods in agreement with Talad Dev.
Talad says: due to shortage of compoonents
Damola says: Ryzen based AMD ThinkPads are really nice.
Damola says: I made very good experienced buying used, but of course mileage may vary.
Damola says: delivery of a new ThinkPad might have taken me three months or more.
Damola says: Any other questions?
Damola says: Any news on PSUnreal?
Thosor says: I think a lot won't easily be able to go to PSU.
Damola says: Hmmm, on Linux you need Vulkan drivers, but I am not sure whether PSUnreal would be much slower when probably lowering gfx settings a bit.
Talad says: Im continuing to make good progress on PSUnreal
Talad says: I did one pass on all the characters to improve a bit the geometry
Holesod smiles
Talad says: so all of you have some more polygons in PSU
Talad says: mostly in the shoulders, to make those more round
Damola says: Crystalspace based PS and PSUnreal have similar speed here. CS PS seems to be CPU bound, PSUnreal seems to be gfx chip bound. Unreal does unfortunately not utilize more than maybe one and a half CPU core.
Thosor says: Yes, I ran across a Ylian woman, very nice.
Talad says: but also elbows and in the back
Damola says: Nice.
Talad says: its not a remake, but I think its a nice upgrade
Damola says: Are there more postures like lieing down instead of just setting?
Damola says: *sitting I mean
Talad says: yes, you can lie down, and sit on chairs
Damola says: Nice.
Thosor says: That way you can tell if someone is napping.
Holesod says: hehe
Talad says: you can basically sit on any flat surface which is about the height of a chair
Fliks says: Enkis could curl up when they sleep
Fliks says: for when you do /sleep
Thosor says: Biting their tail...
Damola says: By the way female Nolthrir have a very interesting way to walk. It looks kinda bossy like in "what do you want, you little …?" kind of attitude.
Holesod says: oh wow...
Damola says: In PSUnreal. Running is fine, but walking is kind of amusing.
Talad says: In PSU at the moment all the animations are the same for all characters
Thosor says: Sounds like someone I know :)
Damola says: Ah, I see.
Talad says: so female may look a bit too male
Talad says: but we can change that in the future
Damola says: Yeah.
Damola says: Good.
Talad says: we gained on emotes
Fliks says: ooh
Uadjet says: Quite a few emotes!
Talad says: there are about 10 animations for emotes
Damola says: I tried emotes, most were same animations. I bet it is lots of work to add animations.
Talad says: also also there are some "stances"
Damola says: Stances?
Talad says: like for example holding a torch, or walking injured
Fliks says: oh thats cool
Talad says: or having your hands handcuffed at the back
Thosor says: Injured walking? interesting.
Talad says: those "stances" you can use for roleplay if you want
Damola says: Ah… I wonder about character at rest animations? In CS PS its always the same animation. Is there some variation in PSUnreal?
Damola says: How you do use those stances?
Anysu says: Interesting about stances.
Talad says: I dont recall the command, but I think its like /stance injured
Damola says: Thanks, will try.
Thosor says: stance passed out
Holesod says: hmm
Damola says: One could add automatic switch to injured stance when health is below a certain level.
Migg says: would be nice if you automatically did the injured stance when , yes that
Talad says: yes possible
Anysu says: lol stance passed out Thosor
Thosor says: Damola, great, then wouldn't have to keep looking at chart.
Anysu says: That could be fun
Damola chuckles "Stance drunken after Gonger emptied a whole barrel of ale."
Anysu says: stance drunk
Anysu nods at Dam
Talad says: in general im trying to have more functions in the UI, and less by commands
Anysu says: Damola
Talad says: to make it more intuitive
Gonger says: Two barrels, mayhap...
Thosor passes out.
Damola says: Yeah, that is nice. I expect hotkeys will be all new and configuration of hotkeys won't be migrated.
Damola says: Heh, Thosor. Too much pork?
Thosor burps, and more...
Damola grins to Gonger "So no automatic drunk stance, cause real hammerwielders do not get drunk easily."
Talad says: shortcuts will be to be redone
Talad says: but you can copy paste the content
Talad says: of each
Damola says: Yeah, it is what I expected.
Damola says: Fair enough.
Holesod says: sounds simple enough
>Sliding Lurielle Volanxis...
Thosor zzz zzz
Thosor mmmmmm
Gova says: I'm overdue for a shortcut overhaul anyways.
Damola says: Yeah, my shortcuts are somewhat of a mess as well.
Gonger says: It is possible for us to get drunk, but not easily.
Holesod says: hmm...
Talad says: the PS Unreal event of yesterday was nice to have also for testing
Talad says: there are some bugs which happen only when multiple people are on
Holesod says: definitely
Talad says: for example we had one bug on groups
Talad says: and you can test only with multiple people
Holesod says: I was reminded about that one with the lights causing a crash
Thosor back no longer sore
Talad says: I think at the moment the two biggest things missing are musical scores and drawings
Talad says: for the rest PSUnreal should be equal or better than Legacy
Talad says: but testing is very important to speed up things
>Holesod Sacerey nods in agreement with Talad Dev.
Holesod says: there's only so much that can be tested by one person
Gonger says: Well, we can make our own music on youtube... Things like Bo Hansson, Music Inspired by The Lord of the Rings.
Talad says: yes, also I tend to avoid doing it by purpose, as I think can be distributed to others easily
Talad says: for music I was looking at playing midi files directly
Talad says: but I didnt decide yet
Holesod says: doesn't that require midi fonts?
Gonger says: I mean: It is nice to have the in-game music, of course. But until then there are nice things we can play ourselves on youtube.
Holesod says: or are you synthesizing the music from the midi
Talad says: there are free programs to edit midi, with full score and editing capabilities, redoing all that in PSU is not easy
Talad says: there are a lot of people fond of playing instruments in PS
Migg says: muusescore is a program that can create scores
Migg says: think it saves xml
Talad says: yes that one is good Migg
Talad says: we could read the output and play it with your instrument
Gonger says: Ah, you did not only mean background music, but making music ourselves. That is a good point, then.
Talad says: yes, in game instruments
>Thosor Riereri staggers over and tries to grab hold of Lurielle Volanxis but misses. Someone's had too much to drink!
Migg says: I basically convert that to PS XML
Talad says: yes, and in Legacy then you have all the UI to see it and modify it
Talad says: but in PSU that's missing
Talad says: I was thinking to take a shortcut and from the XML just play it without display or anything
Migg says: I believe just reading files created with say musescore is way better
Migg says: and it can save XML
Migg says: then we don't need an editor in PSU
Talad says: yes, this is where I will be heading I think
Talad says: as redoing the editor is complex
Migg says: It would be nice if we could still read the old songs though
Migg says: some are from people who are no longer around to port them
Holesod says: or convert?
Damola says: Would be nice if the old in game songs would still work.
Damola has a nice collection of these.
Damola says: Yeah, maybe a one-time converter
Talad says: if you can export that to XML, that's doable
Migg says: I don't have the XML for any song I did not write
Damola says: Would really be nice to be able to play all those fine songs by Zakena for example.
Talad says: I think they are in the database, and with MusicXML format
Talad says: so can be extracted
Anysu says: Zakena has so many songs.
Damola says: Ah okay, so shall we export them somehow while still in CS PS?
Migg says: Ah, but then should be server-side conversion
Holesod says: hmm
Damola says: CS PS really has a ton of functionality. I wasn't aware there was a music editor inside the game. I always just used ready made scores.
Talad says: yes :)
Talad says: its also pretty good, considering its hand made
Talad says: are there any other questions?
Talad says: or we can wrap up
Talad says: I will release a new Alpha in the next few days
Damola says: I am fine with wrapping up.
Damola says: Nice.
Damola says: What is new in that one?
Thosor says: oh good, will make sure I have stuff in hand
Thosor says: or is everything in storage?
Talad says: need to make a list, not sure of all pieces :)
Damola wonders whether he can make sure of anything as long as he lays to the feet of his lady.
Thosor says: I couldn't open my sacks
Damola grins
Damola says: Do you remember some of the pieces, Talad?
Damola says: Anyway, if not, I will see in the alpha announcement.
Talad says: for example the characters improvements
Talad says: tribes should work better now as well
Talad says: added FPS limiter, so you can decide the max FPS
Damola says: nice.
Holesod says: oooh that sounds good
Talad says: More tweaks to terrain and outdoors
Damola says: Haha, with current state of AMD gfx drivers on Linux with current laptop not too much of room to limit FPS, but its for sure nice to have on faster boxes.
Talad says: Added sounds and music to many areas
Damola says: Looking forward to all of that.
Damola says: New music?
Damola says: I noticed that PSUnreal has new background music in certain places and I quite liked it.
Talad says: its the fact PSUnreal was not using the old music yet
Talad says: but now its in
Migg says: great!
Damola says: ah, you put the old music in, well that is some feeling at home in new PS then :)
Migg says: but PSU has more places than Legacy
Talad says: I thnk those are the most important changes
Zarre says: Yes it is :)
Damola says: Thanks, Talad.
Talad says: plus all the "fixed pending release" you see on bugtracker
Damola says: I hope Unreal gets those Linux bugs sorted.
Migg says: Cool, great work!
Uadjet says: Does anyone else think the music on PSU's login screen sounds a bit Harry Potter?
Thosor says: if you get lost, can you die and reappear any place special
Damola says: I did not have crashes in PSUnreal up to 0.7.11. The crashes in Hydlaa appeared with 0.7.12
Thosor says: I'd prefer the legacy city tunes, myself,
Damola says: Yes, Uadjet. It sounds at least quite dramatic.
Holesod says: I haven't paid attention to the log in screen music on PSU
Holesod says: but I like the sound of it being dramatic
Damola says: Okay, so wrap up?
Zarre says: Thanks to all who have had a part of PS over all these years. Cheers!
Damola says: Thank you, Talad. Thank you Uadjet.
Migg says: Thanks for all your efforts!
Anysu says: Thanks for all you do and have done Talad
Damola says: Thanks to all players.
Anysu says: Thank youUadjet as well!
Uadjet says: Thank you all for coming! We'll see you again at the next meeting in two weeks!

Uadjet says: Hello and welcome to the Developer's Q&A! This is an out-of-character meeting where you can hear about the development of the game and ask the Dev and GM teams any questions you might have. If you do have any questions, please line up at the lecterns in front of the stage.
Talad says: There is a conversion guide on the Wiki
Talad says: for books
>Migg Ellorean claps for Talad Dev.
Fliks says: :O Holesod thats my spot
Damola says: So are we starting?
Holesod says: ohh sorry Fliks
Migg says: can I ask?
>Anysu Atani nods at Talad Dev.
Fliks says: heh its fine
Talad says: sure Migg, helllo
Migg says: Are there public and normal books in PSU, like here?
Zarre says: Nice turnout for todays meeting
Damola says: Ah, interesting question.
Talad says: yes, the books should work similarly.
Damola says: Nice.
Anysu cheer
Talad says: what we miss in Unreal at the moment are maps (drawings)

Cheers!
>Thosor Riereri waves at Damola Etedi
Damola says: Thank you, Talad. Thank you Uadjet.
Migg says: Thanks for all your efforts!
Anysu says: Thanks for all you do and have done Talad
Damola says: Thanks to all players.
Anysu says: Thank you Uadjet as well!
Uadjet says: Thank you all for coming! We'll see you again at the next meeting in two weeks!
Talad says: see you
Talad says: test PSU!

PlaneShift News and Rules / Current GM Team 2021
« on: September 18, 2021, 10:54:12 am »
The GM team is made up of people from all over the world who have come together to make this game more enjoyable, and are responsible for helping players with their in-game issues. The GM team strives to help keep the game free of bugs, exploitation, abuse, and harassment. With large numbers of people online, such problems arise now and again, and the Game Masters intervene when necessary.

Below you can find the names of current Game Masters on the team so that players are aware of who they can turn to for help and who they should definitely listen to if approached.  Please do not try to engage the GMs with idle chatter, as they are often dealing with issues that need their full attention - only send them messages if you truly need help with a problem. They are closely monitored for their actions and at many times are very busy with player requests. When contacting a GM keep this in mind: A GM should not be constantly paged by a player asking for something - we consider this GM Harassment. If the Game Master has not answered you, please assume they are busy and contact them later. Usually, a few minutes should do.  You may also alternatively file an in-game petition about your issue, and the moment a free GM becomes available, they will look into it.

Q: Who are the Game Masters?

GAME MASTER TEAM 2021

GM Team Leader - Uadjet

Senior GM - Emaline

GM Emeritus - Sorka

Q: What actions does the GM Team perform?

Ensure that the Player Code of Conduct and game rules are enforced and take appropriate action against players that disregard these rules.
Assist in keeping the player free from unwanted harassment.
Assist in reporting bugs found in the game.
Assist in providing feedback for new game functions or modifications to existing functions to the development team.
Relocate players who are stuck in the game geography due to a bug with that portion of the game world.
Assist in other problems that are not otherwise covered by the Game FAQ
Assist with the /help channel.
Checking for frequently hit bugs, errors, or misleading game functions.

** NOTE: Reporting bugs, problems and possible enhancement of the game is a critical part of the GM Team's duties.

Encourage roleplay and other initiatives players may have, like creation of new guilds, role playing certain situations or characters, provide wedding services, etc., that have been deemed allowable by the settings development department.
Create and run dynamic quests and events in the game that have been approved by the settings development department.

Q: What actions does the GM Team not perform?

It is the goal of the GM team to help a player with any possible situation as long as:

It does not involve giving "spoiler" information, such as detailed directions, quest information, or information on creatures, armor and weapons.

** Knowledge of these subjects is considered part of the "mystery" of the game. It is part of the game to adventure and learn the wonders of the world of Yliakum through your own means of discovery.

It does not create an exploitable situation.

** An example of this would be teleporting characters due to an unverifiable bug. GMs will not teleport players to a location, except in the case where there is a definite bug involved.

It would not constitute favoritism or compete with activities conducted by players in the game.

** For example, GMs will not give out items unless part of an officially sanctioned RP quest or event. We cannot give items upon request for every player in the game, so it is unfair to do it for a few. This would also interfere with the player economy and the worth of items.  GMs do occasionally hold events in which characters may come and have their items renamed to one of their choosing, so long as it fits in with the settings of the game.

Q: How can I become a Game Master?

So you are considering applying to the GM team? You will want to check this thread to ensure that the GM team is currently recruiting new members.  If they are, then please proceed below to see if you meet the following qualifications.

First, you must be over 21 and have been playing for a minimum of 3 months
Before you do anything, talk to some GMs either in IRC via irc.freenode.net #planeshift-gmtalk, or PM's via the forum, or if the GM isn't busy and only if the first two options are unavailable ask via /tell in game if the GM has time to talk and help you, to decide whether you really want to apply.

If you decide to apply, approach any GM and inform them that you would like to join the team. That GM will start a thread on the GM forum, and the same GM will then monitor and manage your application.

The GM managing your application will search through the report logs and Player history etc and post the results.

You will also be asked to submit a short written application detailing your Planeshift history, how long playing, number of characters etc. your age, real name, time zone, and a brief explanation of why you wish to become a GM. This will be posted in your application thread.

In the next step at least 3 GM's will interview you in a group to assess whether you will fit into the team, reasons for joining, level of English and any other relevant information. The logs of this discussion will also be posted in this thread.

Once all the information is collected, the GM team will comment until a consensus is formed and the applicant is either denied or if successful the application will be forwarded to Sarva and a suitable time will be negotiated to perform the final interview. The assessment of the interview will be discussed with Talad.

If all goes well: Welcome to the GM team!

** Any inappropriate behavior towards a Game Master (cursing, lying, etc.) is strictly prohibited and severely punishable. To learn how you can contact Game Masters in the game or how to report inappropriate GM behavior, please read the Filing an Official Complaint against a GM thread.**

How to contact a GM:

The most obvious is to catch us in game simply do a /who game master for a list of online game masters.

*PM us here on the forums!

*You can also use /petition all the GM's check the petitions regularly, so this is probably the simplest and best way to contact any of us. We can even see these without logging into the game.

* We can be found in the Planeshift Discord Channel.

*Many of us have a Facebook account.Emaline Sorka Zunna Uadjet

Venalan (Settings Lead)
Uadjet(GM Lead)
Emaline (GM Team)

Uadjet says: Hello and welcome to the Developer's Q&A! This is an out-of-character meeting where you can hear about the development of the game and ask the Dev and GM teams any questions you might have. If you do have any questions, please line up at the lecterns in front of the stage.
Zarre says: Hi Uadjet l/
Fliks says: two Uadjets :O
Beadeater Did you ever find out what happened to magic ranks on way quests?
Fliks says: they go up
Zarre smiles, "Now pets can talk. "
Stalfos says: They used to
Awaade says: Pets that talk can be dangerous... They will spread a word how you threat them
Uadjet says: I think that's changing. The Devs are trying to make it possible for people to train via quests instead of grinding. It won't be nearly as fast, but still possible.
Zarre says: Only if you admit to hearing a pet talk in the first place. ;-)
Uadjet says: As part of theat, quests that teach a skill in some way will provide a level or two in that skill.
Fliks says: quick make my Grofel a KiKiri
Uadjet says: I can't morph npcs.
Beadeater : So we we may be able to gain ranks again in the ways from the ways quests?
Fliks says: oh ok
Uadjet says: Believe me I tried
Stalfos says: Use Polymorph with brew potion, then give the potion to your familiar
Uadjet chuckles. "Pets can eat in PSU, but I don't know about potions."
>Anysu Atani salutes Uadjet with respect.
Jeranenie says: I expect the NPC server will need to be restarted for the morph to take
Fliks says: yes i can feed my grofel
Stalfos says: OK, that was neverwinter nights, except brew potion wouldn't work with lvl 4 or above spells
Uadjet says: And I think these are the only two potions that have a morphing effect.
Fliks says: dun dun dun
Stalfos says: Yes please, rogue potions all round
Fliks says: can i drink
Stalfos says: 10 fore each attendee
>Fliks Clawrer nods at Stalfos Kyralum.
Uadjet says: Those have very long durations, and as they're spell effects I think only dying gets rid of them early.
>Uadjet picked up a Minor Rogue Potion
>You drink the potion and are morphed into a rogue as a disguise!
Stalfos says: Sounds great, it's your round
>Uadjet picked up a Major Rogue Potion
Uadjet says: So unless Beadeater has another question, I'll give you all a little update.
Awaade says: Shortcut of Talads week of streaming in like 5 minutes?
Uadjet says: That's a good bit of it, yeah. :D
Uadjet says: He's been doing a lot of work on ambient sounds.
Stalfos says: Doesn't sound like a major priority
Uadjet says: Part of it is music, so that each major place has its own songs.
Uadjet says: Well, I don't know. A completely silent world isn't very engaging.
Gonger says: There is someone playing around with stupid character names, this morning we had Clerical Erroor, now it is Paladinn Celerity.
Uadjet says: Now if you can hear birds as you're running along, and frogs when you pass a lake, it just feels more real.
Stalfos says: What is needed is the ability to craft Rogue Potions, THEN work on abmient sounds
Awaade says: music can be good, but ambient sounds of landscape or citizens can have great impact on gameplay
Gonger says: Yes, sounds will make things more realistic.
Gonger says: And Stalfos, good luck telling Talad what to do next.
Stalfos says: I wouldn't dream of arguing with a god
Awaade says: Gonger - if you try hard enough on streams he may listen :D
Stalfos says: I might sick beadeater on him though
Awaade says: anyway we were chosing ylian female character model as viewers :D
Uadjet says: Heh, if he can put up with my jokes I think it's safe to conclude he's hard to anger.
Stalfos says: You can't even change Ylian female hair colours, ALL BLONDE
Gonger says: Very unrealistic, that.
Stalfos says: Bottle Blondes I'd wager
Gonger says: After all natural blondes will dye out in the long run.
Uadjet says: I think getting Ylian women in the game was the top priority. Hair color is relatively easy to change, but not as essential as other tasks.
Stalfos says: Like Ambient sounds!?
Stalfos says: But if the BLonde to brunette ratio gets to high the world ends
Awaade says: characterisation is definitely not pirimary focus for Talad, for start we need to have updated models for each race at least\
Uadjet says: If redheads die out the world isn't worth living in anymore.
Uadjet says: But I digress.
Awaade says: we want Merrida
Stalfos says: True, they can survive on less sunlight for their Vitamin D
Uadjet says: He's got it set up so that some sounds can only be heard in some sections of the map.
Gonger says: Apparently blond is on a recessive gene with humans, so in the long run...
Awaade says: we dont have sunlight here, only reflection via crystal xd
Stalfos says: Redheads are more recessive then Blonde though, I think
Uadjet says: The best example of that is the Arena. Ven and others have put in a lot of work to make the different sections look different, and be appropriate habitats for whatever type of creature is in them.
Stalfos says: The crystal gives Vitamin D, just during eclipse, eat mushrooms
Uadjet says: Now we can have sounds for each section that won't overlap. You'd only heard riverlings, for example, in their section and presumable just outside the door.
Awaade says: oh yes, i hate running around and around arena, usually i turn wrong way on first try so need to go 3/4 of way to destination
Stalfos says: Order of Keen Edge, left then right to escape arena
Stalfos says: or opposite order of keen edge for Veja
Awaade says: get killed by any monster inside and speedrun via death realm to Harnquist XD
Beadeater : Also, how come Yulbars don#t seem to be available in CS anymore?
Gonger says: Awesome work, that.
>Overriding race for Uadjet to yulbar
Gonger says: Awaade, you need to check the barrels in the corridors...
Uadjet says: They aren't? In what way?
Uadjet says: The stack of three barrels is the way out.
Uadjet says: Two on the bottom, and a third on top of those, iirc.
Stalfos says: I've tried many new characters, they all seem to get Groffels, whereas earlier they were so rare
Awaade says: Will do :)
Uadjet says: It's based on race of character, I believe.
Gonger says: And in the central room, one exit is marked. Just look closely.
Stalfos says: Hmm, I tried Kran, Nolthrir, Enki, All Groffel
Uadjet says: Some get groffels, and some get yulbars. Nobody gets baggas, as they don't exist yet.
Anysu says: I got Yulber.
Uadjet says: Stonehammers might get yulbars. Kran, maybe?
>Anysu Atani raises an arm and points towards Callisto.
Stalfos says: Hmm wait my old Nolthrir got Yulbar
Awaade says: i dont remember which one i have on second character,
Awaade says: ylian
Stalfos says: Thosor has Groffel
Uadjet says: Maybe I'm wrong. It could be race and gender.
Stalfos says: Now Groffel is so common I kinda want Yulbar
Uadjet says: Or maybe there's a randomness to it.
Anysu says: My other enki and Ylian have groffel
Stalfos says: Tried like 10 characters and it was Groffel
Uadjet says: That's weird. I'll ask Talad when the stream is over.
Awaade says: toss a cvoin to decide, head, tails and rim :D
Stalfos says: Yes, same name but it's different now
Stalfos says: This isn;t Discworld?
Awaade says: dev meeting while talad is streaming, cant be in 3 places same time... can I? :D
Stalfos says: It's Stalagtite world
Uadjet says: So other than sounds (and map fixes), Talad has also worked on shapechanging. It's complex in Unreal, but it is at least partially working now.
Anysu says: Will the shapechanging be same as in Legacy?
Uadjet says: That one had me worried, as I use it for nearly every event. It's also how the polymoprh spell works.
Uadjet says: I think so, Anysu. Right now it's still buggy to change from player race to monster and then back again, but a relog would fix that.
Fliks says: how do you turn into other things
Anysu nods at Uadjet
Awaade says: *sings* its a kind of magic ;)
Uadjet says: It's the polymorph spell. Blue Way.
Uadjet says: GM's just use /morph, which has no timer.
Fliks says: ooh
Uadjet says: Oh, last bit of info on ambient sounds is that Talad has been doing a day/night cycle, so things will sound different depending on the time of day.
Stalfos says: Yeah I just tried Polymorph in UE and nothing happened
Uadjet says: Okay, so other than sounds, Talad's been talking about player housing. Specifically, player-built housing.
Stalfos says: Aww lookit the lil Yulbar
Fliks says: YAY
Stalfos says: I built a Tower In Bronze doors outside, but I think Thosor dismantled it
Fliks says: i can have a home finaly
Awaade says: on one hand: i need to grab UE and help debug with linux and my job experience in finding bugs, on other hand: just watching UE streams makes this client pretty much ugly and You dont want to play anymore this version...
Gonger says: That was not said, Fliks.
Gonger says: If the rules for homes stay as they are...
Fliks looks to gonger i can still build one with carpets
>Overriding race for Uadjet to yulbar
Stalfos says: Pthhh, in my day we had 16 bit graphics, and we were happy with it
>Label color of Uadjet set to gm
Fliks says: eek giant pet
Stalfos says: AHAHA
Gonger says: Graphics? I used to play MUDs... purely text-based with some occasional ASCII art
>Fliks Clawrer begins casting a spell at Uadjet!
Uadjet says: Talad was using the area outside Amdeneir's walls as an example of a flat, empty space where players could build things.
Fliks says: i do like the sound of that
Uadjet says: There would of course be limits. Applying for a plot of land, costs, and then everything you'd need to build the building.
Fliks says: but i already see a problem with that
Awaade says: Yeah, i reminded MUDs on stream, Talad told that PS was MUD dozen years ago...
Stalfos says: Only the richer players can afford then
Uadjet says: And unused buildings would need to fall apart of disappear if abandoned for too long.
Uadjet says: I don't know about richer.
Awaade says: richer is kinda off... after reaching some point in character development you cant be poor :D
Fliks says: ooh im realy likeing this
Uadjet says: i think time spent in game would matter.
Stalfos says: Sure, they disappear cos other players teal them if you are away from them or offline
Gonger says: Right now everybody is rich... there is way too much money in thegame.
Uadjet says: There are players who are ridiculously rich, and if they rebalance things for PSU then it would be profoundly unfair to newer players.
Awaade says: that makes me wonder how much tria you can get into character without breaking game XD
Stalfos says: Sure but I'm still poor compared to olders players, cos they had to max via grinding not skill quests
Fliks says: hmm i dont think that 299k tria is alot by nower day standards
Gonger says: Older players also had to pay for skill training.
Uadjet says: One of the common topics for discussion in the secret channel - and in the secret channels in IRC back when - is how to deal with the excess tria.
Stalfos says: I do remember that, although I rerolled after that
Zarre says: Not all old players are rich either. ;)
Fliks says: how can you have too much tria
Anysu nods at Gonger about skill trianing cost
Stalfos says: Also the walk over to the approriate trainer
>Stalfos Kyralum draws a weapon and swings it at Uadjet!
Awaade says: i remember times when not only you paid for skill training, you had to buy teorethical knowledge and then practice rest of skill level...
Awaade says: soe more or less getting back to trainer after each skill level gained XD
Fliks says: that dose not sound nice
>Teleported Damola Etedi to meetingore in instance 345
Awaade says: that was unique skilling in MMO - at that time there was only 2 or 3 games that had option to train all skills and none was that complicated
>Damola Etedi waves at Uadjet
Stalfos says: Tria and PP of course, I remember standing on top of the rogue camps tents and summoning missile
Uadjet says: So the Devs are thinking tria could be used to speed up access to certain things. Not critical things, of course. More cosmetic.
Damola says: Oh look! A cute Yulbar!
Damola says: Here, you sure need some more sand cookies than a regular one.
Stalfos says: It just tried to eat my Groffel
Uadjet says: Techinically a yulbarisaur.
Damola says: Oh, that is not so nice, then I better give it some sand cookies.
Fliks says: ha
Anysu says: I recall all the gathering of pp and tria.
Awaade says: climbing skill was usable ... i mean OLD times XD
Damola says: Some day I post all those inoffcial screenshots somewhere on the internet.
Damola grins
Zarre says: Fun climbing days :)
Awaade says: my first contact with planeshift was definitely more than 10y ago
Stalfos says: I mean, I remember paying for skill training, Xacha, Diaboli, 2 Dwarf races
>Damola Etedi waves at Awaade Savaig
Damola says: Wow, and now you play again, Awaade? Great.
Stalfos says: AND GETTING MAGIC SKILL RANKS FOR WAY QUESTS
Damola says: Kga, Gova.
>Damola Etedi waves at Anysu Atani
Anysu says: Must be more than 10 years for me as well
Awaade says: my other character is over 350h old and that was few years ago and that was not my first contact... name is Kudar Dhanhan
Uadjet nods. "Diaboli are back, and the two Dwarven races were made into purely RP clans with the same stats."
>Damola Etedi waves at Jeranenie Kegur
Gova says: Kga!
Stalfos says: Talad said he may convert Ynwyn into Diaboli
Damola says: hmmm
Awaade says: im playing with this lemur while streaming on twitch
Stalfos says: Finally Lemur models
Fliks says: are you streaming us or a another game
Awaade says: i might not look like lemur right now :P
Uadjet says: I do need to have Talad delete my fourth character slot on this account. There's still a problem with traits where if you have traits not appropriate for your race you crash on character selection.
Uadjet says: Do you have any idea how often I've changed my traits?!?!
Stalfos says: There are traits!?
Awaade says: i stream multiple titles, mostly openttd, minetest, truck simulator, war thunder and now planeshift
Uadjet says: Heck, my GM character is a Derghir with - I believe - red hair in the traits.
Fliks says: whats your twich name thing im going to wach
Zarre says: *smiles*
Stalfos says: No no you Giant Yulabr now
Uadjet says: So the only character on my GM account I can play with is my Ynnwn guard.
Zarre says: Must be ingrown hairs
Stalfos says: Soon to be Diaboli
Uadjet says: So I need Talad to delete that last slot so I can create Ylian women and Lemurs.
Stalfos says: No no you can't Ylian on UE
Uadjet says: No? I thought I saw Talad as one. Maybe that was in the editor.
Stalfos says: Well, there was bug report, supposedly fixed 7.12, but it still doesn't work: new ylians for me on Linux
Stalfos says: Old ones transfered from CS maybe
Awaade says: Fliks - in general i record 30m episodes for YT using Twitch stream, so it is like recording 3-6 episodes on one go while streasming and then uploading to YT
Uadjet says: I'll try it out and see if I can access the new races.
Stalfos says: Hmm seems to be OK if you wait a while, then relog, I'll update the bug report
Stalfos says: Still all blonde though
Uadjet says: And discussion continues regarding the location of Araloth kel'Maren, the Stonehammer city.
Uadjet says: Talad wants to move it to the two map sectors we have in PSU, so that every race has at least one good-sized town or city.
Uadjet says: I'm in love with the description of that city though, so I'm trying to pester him enough that it's placed next to the outer edge and can therefore match the description on the wiki.
Uadjet says: If you haven't read it, just search the wiki for Delving. It sounds amazing.
Awaade says: it might be easier to update wiki :P
Awaade says: just saying :P
Uadjet says: I'm not giving up on that city though! I can see it in my mind, now.
Uadjet says: Maybe I should try building assets for it.
Uadjet says: But that's what the last few weeks have been like in Devland. Any questions?
Awaade says: im getting tired, and i need to wait for wife that is stuck in train, she has no keys to home and train is getting at least 40m late
Awaade says: having fun XD
Awaade says: i saw Talad works on new village with Xiosia shrine, great job, that UE is great job and tons of work
Damola says: Stalfos, you play PSUnreal on Linux? I tried, but it crashes… a lot… when I turn around, after I ran a few meters and then even directly after logging in. 0.7.11 was fine
Uadjet says: That's Homestead.
Stalfos says: Yes, I've had no problems like that
Damola says: I think I read on the wiki, it sounded *awesome*
Uadjet says: I'm glad Talad gave me a list of useful teleport coordinates.
Uadjet says: Though I think he did so to prevent me from littering PSU with teleport marker.
Awaade says: ive beek eaten XD
Stalfos says: You gotta unguard em
Damola says: Hmm, interesting, don't know why it crashes for me then. Well I reported on Flyspray.
Uadjet says: *markers
Stalfos says: Older PC perhaps, also I'm on Mxlinux
Uadjet says: Linus has been having a problem. It's a driver thing, I think. I've read that the Windows version with proton is running well.
Stalfos says: Mine runs natively, I did see the posts though about emulation
Damola says: Well I am on ThinkPad T14 AMD Gen 1 with AMD Ryzen Pro 4750 with integrated graphics, so yes, that is quite new. But it ran very well with 0.7.11 and before.
Anysu says: Guess that should be Linux not Linus there Uadjet
Anysu says: Your last line.
Uadjet facepalms. "No, I was talking about Linus from Peanuts. Still with the blanket..."
Uadjet says: :D
Anysu says: Thought I was in a Peanuts comic strip for a moment.
Stalfos says: Linus Torvalds created Linus yes?
Awaade says: you can say that... but its not enirely true
Awaade says: he was one of devs/creators and based on unix, but he is called father of Tux
Uadjet says: So, if there are no more questions I think we can bring the meeting to a close. Thank you all for coming, and we'll see you again in...three weeks. It's the second and fourth Sunday of each month, so the extra Sunday this months makes it a longer wait.
Zarre says: Thank you too, Uadjet.
Awaade says: as usual i would not be able to get into, in general my "shift" in home ends about 10pm cet
Fliks says: oh ok
Anysu says: Oh thanks for clarifying that
Anysu says: Thanks for the meeting and all you do, Uadjet!
Uadjet says: Now I have to go see how deep the gorge by the BD Fortress is. There's no way digging 50m down is too deep that far away from the edge!
>Anysu Atani salutes Uadjet with respect.
Stalfos says: Thank you for this GM meeting
Uadjet says: Oh! I'll do another PSU event next week. Watch the calendar for time.
Stalfos says: can't be a dev meeting without devs perhaps, can Yulbars even use keyboard!?
Gonger says: I will be on holiday in September, and hope to help with testing, then.
>The disguise fades away so you now look normal!
Fliks says: someone should stream the event so i can wach it since i cant play PSU
Damola says: Thanks for the meeting!
Anysu says: Will ther be both a PSU and a PS event next week?
Uadjet says: Yes.
Stalfos says: Different times?
Damola says: Ah, nice.
Anysu nods at Uadjet
Damola says: I hope I can stabilize my PSUnreal Linux client till then.
Damola says: Otherwise, it might be difficult to attend the event.
Stalfos says: Now, about those rogue potions...
Anysu says: I will not make either, need to work long day that day.
Damola hands Uadjet-Yulbarsaur the sand cookies
>Damola asks to trade with you.
>You agree to trade.
Uadjet says: Sorry, I was petting the cat.
>Damola gave Uadjet 24 Sand Cookies.
>Trade complete
Damola says: Yum, yum!
Damola grins
Stalfos says: not with those massive paws, I hope
Uadjet says: Rogue potions will likely be available in limited supply at a future event.
Uadjet says: That cat's a Main Coon. Her paws are bigger.
Damola says: What size can make for a difference.
Damola says: But in the end, even a large Yulbar still looks cute.
Damola says: It still looks sweet.
Gonger says: I think even Uadjet would have a hard time to run two events in parallel in different environments...
Stalfos says: IT looks at you with hunger in it's eyes
Uadjet says: My brain would break.
Damola says: See you
Damola says: It has 24 sand cookies, that will keep it occupied for… maybe a second :)
Stalfos says: That's not even a crumb to this collosus
Anysu says: Bye all
>Anysu Atani waves.
Stalfos says: Bye
Damola says: Then it can eat you Stalfos.
Damola runs away
Stalfos says: I think it is gonna eat your familiar
[Channel] [1: gossip] Uadjet: Okay, the Gorge is about 450 meters deep at the outer wall. There's no way a 60 meter deep city would have any problems with breaking out of the Stalactite. I'm going to make sure Araloth kel'Maren gets made properly if I have to do it myself!

Uadjet says: Hello and welcome to the Developer's Q&A! This is an out-of-character meeting where you can hear about the development of the game and ask the Dev and GM teams any questions you might have. If you do have any questions, please line up at the lecterns in front of the stage.
>Migg Ellorean waves at Damola Etedi
Fayrene says: i have a question: we got these nice spear. are there nice skills for it in the new version?
Uadjet says: The skill is already in, actually. Spears fall under the Polearm & Spear category.
Fayrene says: oh? where do i have to get the skills?? i only got sword skills
Uadjet says: Just equip a spear or quarterstaff and you can train it on training dummies. Or rats.
Fayrene says: ah okay. i will try that out
Fayrene says: i have no more questions
Uadjet says: I think it's Jardet that sells quarterstaves? Maybe not.
Uadjet says: Ah, he does!
Fliks says: he dose
Fliks says: oh and Uadjet about the baths they were quite buggy there was one outside the tavern that only i could see and interact with
Fliks says: i asume its my client not relising that it was picked up
Uadjet says: Yeah, that sounds like a ghost item.
Uadjet says: I've had it happen to me too.
Fliks says: ive called it a Ghost-tub
Fayrene chuckles
Fayrene says: that looks so funny...
Migg says: Ooooooooo! I'm a ghost of a tub long passed away!
Uadjet says: Okay, I'll give you all a little update, then.
Fayrene says: like a feeding trough with foot
Foot Tub says: I'll get you for this!
>Anysu Atani listens intently to Uadjet.
Fliks smiles
Fayrene laughs
Migg says: Aggggh! Call the tub busters!
Anysu says: Really freaky when inanimate objects talk.
Uadjet says: Talad's been prepping a new alpha, and doing a lot of bugfixes.
Fliks says: esacialy when your ment to sit in them but cant
Migg says: It would be impolite if they didn't, Anysu
Uadjet says: It's even more freaking when they do announcements in gossip.
Fayrene greets Hoharen
>Anysu Atani grins at Uadjet impishly.
>Damola Etedi waves at Migg Ellorean
Uadjet says: He's also worked on bracers, adapting them so that they'll show properly in PSU.
>Damola Etedi bows to Gonger Xaraha.
Fayrene says: and not on the ground, hu?
Uadjet says: That's the idea.
Fayrene chuckles
Fliks says: oh and with the braces will they be fixed then you where a way robe
Fliks says: or anyrobe in general
Uadjet says: It's the interaction of robe and bracers that is the issue there.
Anysu cheers about bracers
Fayrene laughs at Migg because he is sitting on the bathtub
Migg says: Ah yes, odd you can't sit *in* it
Fayrene laughs
Migg says: Thanks Uadjet!
Fliks says: :D
Fayrene says: only water is missing
Fayrene says: maybe you can use the fountain?
Uadjet says: Talad has also imported a bull model froma pack that was free a while back so that it can be used in game.
Fayrene says: oh? a bull for the cart?
Uadjet says: That'll be the goujah, also it's not as big as the lore says it should be. I'll pester him a little now and then, and maybe he'll put in some that are bigger.
Uadjet says: Yeah. He even made a yoke for it, so two can pull together.
Anysu claps
Fayrene smiles happily
Uadjet says: On top of that, he's done a ton of work on the town of Homestead.
Fliks says: ooh
Migg says: perhaps there is an interbreed of goujah and rivnak that doesn't get too big but has horns?
Uadjet says: Yes, that's new. Hasn't even been in the alpha before, though there were some strange houses left in that spot as a marker.
Uadjet says: @Migg: Could be. I'm still wondering what the generic "meat" is. Also dreading the answer.
Gonger says: Will there be carts for us?
Uadjet says: That could actually be a great idea. I think you asked about player transport like the pterosaurs to other locations, now that the world is getting so much bigger.
Fliks says: rivnack and carrige
Fayrene smiles and thinks of the white cart in ojaveda
Migg says: :x
Uadjet says: I'm pretty sure that was you, though I was also certain it was you that told me about Heilung, so who knows?
Holesod says: hmmm now I am starting to think about caravans
Gonger says: Well, we are pretty much expecting pterosaurs for players by now...
Gonger says: Especially Damola
Fayrene chuckles
Uadjet says: But carts like that would be a good means of transport to smaller locations that wouldn't have ptero travel.
Fayrene says: or transporting more iron ores then we can carry with us
Holesod says: like farms and villages?
Uadjet says: As for players being able to drive a cart themselves to any location... I don't know.
Holesod says: oooh I like what you are saying Fayrene, raw materials
Uadjet nods to Holesod. "Precisely. Delver and Homestead are unlkely to be on the pterosaur network, but hitching a ride on a farmer's cart would make sense."
Fayrene chuckles and thinks of uadjet who overloaded me with ores
Migg says: well, a rivnak could pull a cart
Holesod says: though with something like that wouldn't that lend itself to having ambushes from thieves?
Migg says: if it's your rivnak harnessed, you could call it to make it go anywhere
Uadjet says: Oh, and maybe a small rowboat between Amdeneir, Hetsan, and Arden.
Damola says: Really nice about the bracers.
Fayrene says: wow.... i want to see all these new places!
>Holesod Sacerey nods at Uadjet.
Damola grins "Me like Pterosaur? How do you come to that idea?" Damola looks innocently here and there.
Fayrene smirks at Damola
Uadjet says: The new village has a tannery, which is new. I think there are dyes for clothes too. I mentioned clothing during the stream, and Talad didnt' think that changing the color of your clothing would be too hard to do, so maybe Tailoring in the not-to-distant future? Maybe.
Fayrene says: wow
Holesod says: oooh? does that mean we might be able to craft dyes and dye leather armor?
Fayrene is glittering with stars
Fliks says: my idea was herd
Anysu says: Yeah about clothes and dyes!!!
Uadjet says: I don't think any work has been done in that area, but it's theoretically possible.
Fayrene says: maybe it could be put in in a later update?
Anysu says: There is some stream on clothes and I think dyes.
Damola says: Wow, nice. I love to see chars be able to look more invidual.
Damola says: Not all Nolthrirs basically look the same and so on.
Fayrene nods at Damola
Uadjet says: Yeah. Just getting some color variation on clothes and robes would be nice. Robes in colors appropriate to the Way would make sense.
Holesod says: was also thinking about with the farms and whatnot, if there's produce maybe some more cooking related to raw produce?
Holesod says: like salads and whatnot
Uadjet says: There are pumpkins in Delver.
Fayrene says: uh.... pumpkin....
Uadjet says: Talad just mentioned wanting to eat one of them.
Fliks says: pumkin pie
Fayrene says: halloween
Uadjet says: They're great for pies too!
Damola says: Nice. Pumpkin could inspire quite some new dishes.
Fayrene says: and a halloween decoration?
Holesod says: pies, soups ,maybe snacks?
Damola says: Pumpkins are really great for cooking. It is almost impossible to make good pumpkin taste bad.
Uadjet says: I always do squash soup for fall and winter holiday meals. Very tasty!
Fayrene says: ermmm.... (experienced just that...)
Uadjet says: See, I thought pumpkin might be a North American thing. Like peanut butter and root beer.
Fayrene says: and sausage for the european side *chuckles*
Migg says: Here it's mainly used in pies
Migg says: most common is a sweet one with rice and cinnamon
Migg says: at least where I come from
Holesod says: I made a pumpkin cheesecake before
Fayrene says: holesod? send me some and i try it out... *smirks*
Fayrene says: so, which things is talad working on too?
Holesod says: well.... I don't have any more pumpkin right now... used up the last of it back then. Was actually trying to use up the canned pumpkin I had
Uadjet says: I don't recall what other new produce is there. Maybe corn? There's a plant there that could be corn, and it was mentioned as appearing in a dream in a quest.
Fayrene says: hu? in a dream?
Holesod says: a corn-y dream?
Uadjet says: It's in a quest.
Uadjet says: So the new village has the tannery, and a nice stream running by it.
Uadjet says: The water material is quite nice, and the stream isn't just a flat surface. You can see it coming down the rocks.
Migg says: I bet it's not a nice stream as it leaves the tannery
Anysu nods at Migg
Fayrene says: i want to see it...
Uadjet says: No, I asked about that. The dirty water from the tannery gets dumped in the stream. I objected.
Migg says: was always done that way, no one cared about pollution in medieval times
Fayrene says: uh oh.... nature destroying in planeshift?? not good!
Migg says: could not even go close to a tannery for all the stench
Uadjet says: Talad did add a shrine to Xiosia there, so maybe she'll have something to say about it. ;)
Migg says: I bet she would
Migg says: now we know where all the skins came from ;)
Fayrene says: yeah... i bet too
Fliks says: i was about to say that woulodnt make Xiosia very happy
Uadjet says: I suppose it depends on what is being dumped. There could be dyes that aren't toxic. The smell of tanning sure would be, though.
Damola says: Haha, can have an event about it where we protest for a plant based cleaning facility for the tannery and then Talad has to implement it
Damola chuckles
Fayrene laughs
Fliks says: oh and Uadjet id like to scedule a special event for Fliks soon as its coming upto his brithday
Uadjet says: Okay, sure.
Uadjet says: Oh, and Talad did a stream a few days ago as part of the Homestead project that had clothing items I've never seen in-game.
Fliks says: im just cheacking on Myplane on when it is
Fayrene says: a funny one about xiosia and tannery? *laughs*
Anysu says: 507 and 508 had dyes and clothes in them
Uadjet says: There was a cape, which I'm sure I would have heard about if it had even been added.
Uadjet says: I think it's a rigid item that would bend with a character, but it's still nice to see.
Anysu says: *Wants a cape!*
Damola says: What clothing items?
Damola says: Ah, a cape.
Fayrene says: that sounds nice!
Uadjet says: There were some new helms too.
Damola says: Nice.
Anysu says: Need to check out that homestead stream and the clothes and dye one.
Fayrene says: me too
Damola says: Maybe one day we can even fill bath tubs with water" Damola looks to Gonger "or ale" :)
Fayrene laughs by thinking on Mohonin
Uadjet says: Oh, and a mask.
Uadjet says: Covers the lower face once it's implemented.
Uadjet says: I'm sure the shifty characters will like that.
Uadjet says: It's in stream 507
Uadjet says: Not far in. The mask shows up half an hour in.
Fliks says: Fliks birthday is in 2 months and 21 days
Uadjet says: So that is what's been going on lately. Any questions about that?
Gonger says: I do that all the time, Damola.
Gonger grins broadly.
Damola says: Planning another event once next alpha is out? I won't be at event next week as well however.
Uadjet says: I'll see how far away the next alpha is. I really need to show you what's on the far side of the Bronze Doors.
Fayrene says: ohhh?
Fliks says: ooh ooh ooh
Holesod is curious
Migg says: I need to get PSU :) Hope my machine can handle it
Anysu nods at Migg "likewise."
Fayrene says: i need it too! i wonder when we can join in!
Fliks says: sadly my computer cant so im stuck in this vertion of Planeshift
Migg says: doing 12fps in here atm
Fliks says: suprising 19 FPS for me
Fliks says: thats the most ive ever had
Damola grins "About 50 fps for me at the moment."
Uadjet says: If you're on Discord, you can PM Talad with your character name and ask for the links. You need 200 hours to qualify for the alpha.
Fliks says: well thats not fair now im going to remove you FPS
Migg says: I'm avoiding Discord
Damola says: Heh.
Uadjet says: /kick fps
Fliks says: well that caused less FPS drop then i expected
Damola grins
Fliks says: well im a grfel now
Fliks says: zooom
Damola says: Well, I have seen it go down to about 15-20 fps here as well, but usually not lower.
>Overriding race for Fliks to kikiri
Fliks says: YES
Migg says: on your new laptop Damola?
Fliks says: IM A KIKIRI :d
Fliks says: :D
Fayrene says: can we grill that kikiri?
Migg says: Here chicky chicky!
Fliks says: now can i fly
Fliks says: nope
Migg says: kikiri can't fly!
Migg says: they can lay eggs though
Uadjet says: Anything else you want to ask? Or talk about?
Fayrene says: i think not this one, migg *chuckles*
Fliks says: you should be able to turn into a kikiri tough with the polymorph becouse you can hold kikiri meat
Fayrene says: no, its all fine, uadjet
Fayrene says: on my site...
Fayrene says: mmhhh.... roasted kikiri!
Fliks says: kikiri
Uadjet grins. "Ignore the temporary poultry behind the curtain!"
Holesod says: or maybe kikiri soup?
Fliks says: go and Discord and go to Uadjets moving imige thing and youl see what will happen if you chalenge me
Uadjet says: But if there are no more questions, I think we can bring the meeting to a close.
Fliks says: im POULTRYMAN
Fayrene chuckles
Uadjet says: Thank you all for coming, and we'll see you again at the next meeting in two weeks!

Fliks says: just like small things we can jump very high
Damola has hided near one of the wings of Gova
Uadjet says: Jumping height remains the same, though distance is modified by your scale the same as running.
Fliks says: makes ence
Uadjet says: Talad is livestreaming at the moment on youtube and twitch, if you want to watch.
Gonger says: We should all join stream 500...
Uadjet says: Stream number 500 is coming up.
Uadjet says: What Gonger said.
Gonger says: Next week, I guess, since today it is 498.
Fliks says: yay
Uadjet says: We're at 498 today.
Damola thinks her collision box is still too large.
Gonger says: Uadjet vs Gonger (typing) 0-2
Swee clears his throat as he attempts to understand what was said and un-scramble his interpritation of what ever it was that was just spoken...
Uadjet grins. "Fair enough!"
Uadjet says: Talad's been working on another new village.
Fliks says: ooh
Damola says: Cool!
Uadjet says: Zwei made a stable for Amdeneir, and Talad's been adapting it for a different location and style.
Uadjet says: So new, wooden textures.
Damola looks to Uadjet "I am good to be my normal size again, please." she demands.
Fliks says: hmm i think this carpet is a bit too big for me
Uadjet says: The model is very interesting, as it's left unfinished with various modifiers applied so that it can be adjusted easily. Different sizes and styles are pretty easy, it seems.
>Damola Etedi grins at Fliks Clawrer impishly.
Swee claps twice, silently...
Fliks says: oh your big again
Damola says: Thanks, Uadjet.
Fliks says: im going to stay like this till the end of the event
Gonger says: Swee, this Dev Meeting is OOC, but you can stay IC if you wish, of course.
Damola smiles to Fliks "Yes, now I can hold you in my hands, Fliks."
Fliks says: nooo im too small to be kidnapped
Fliks says: too the hidy whole
Uadjet hands Damola a piece of upelkuchen, to bring her back to her normal size.
Damola says: Upelkuchen?
Damola thinks Uadjet has just invented a new fruit
Uadjet says: It's from the 2010(ish) Alice in Wonderland movie.
Damola says: Ah.
Swee says: [thanks Gonger, this character is difficult to be in character with]
Fliks peaks around the corner to see if its safe to come out
Uadjet says: The drink that makes you small is PIshalver.
Uadjet conjures a "The More You Know" rainbow over the stage.
Fliks says: ooh i need around 65 of both please
Damola grins
Uadjet says: But yes, a new village is on the way.
Swee says: cool, but we need mmore visiters to the new cities
Uadjet says: It's basically between the BD Fortress and Amdeneir. From Hydlaa, run to BDRoad2, turn left, and run for... two maps?
Damola says: Nice, but it will then be in next version or is it there already, Uadjet?
Damola says: Which race it is for mainly or it is mixed?
Uadjet says: It's not in PSU yet, I don't think.
Damola says: I see.
Uadjet says: I think mixed race. I saw one map with it labeled Ynnwn, but that was Zwei's best guesses and not canon.
Damola says: I see.
Uadjet says: I think Talad started on the new town for the stable, because there's a cow model that he's been turning into a Goujah.
Damola says: Nice.
Uadjet says: For those who don't know, the Goujah is a large, bovine creature that is used to haul goods and power the Winches.
Damola says: Talad, may come to the meeting.
Uadjet says: He's adapted a model, and even made a yoke for them.
Damola says: He just said so.
>Fliks Clawrer picked up a Candle
Uadjet says: Hi!
>Gonger Xaraha greets Talad Dev.
Damola says: Hi Talad.
Wildling says: Hello
>Damola Etedi bows to Talad Dev.
Fliks says: hello
Gonger says: We are all looking forward to stream 500. A great number!
>Fliks Clawrer greets Talad Dev.
Talad says: stream 500 is an important milestone!
>Fliks Clawrer greets Holesod Sacerey.
Fliks says: any plans for it
Uadjet says: I gave them a quick update on what you're doing. Well, part of it. I mentioned Homestead, the stable, and the goujahs.
Uadjet says: And the yoke, of course!
Uadjet says: Aaaaannnddddd...we're live!
Fliks says: ?
>Holesod Sacerey greets Fliks Clawrer.
Uadjet says: On youtube and twitch.
Fliks says: to youtube
Talad says: The main task at the moment is to make the new land usable and meaningful
Talad says: with "new land" I mean all the land between the cities and to their sides, which was previously blocked
Talad says: we actually had invisible walls to avoid players going there
Fliks says: oh i still go there
Damola grins "I did as well."
Talad says: now in PSUnreal we have that land available, and we want to be sure that's also meaningful with points of interest and villages
Talad says: there are three main parts to that task
Fliks says: yeah the world is going to be so much bigger (defently for me ;D)
Damola says: whoa, what a lag between Youtube stream and game. In game text Talad types is visible much earlier than in Youtube
Talad says: 1) to terraform the land, with hills, mountains, rocks, .... to make it look interesting
Talad says: 2) Add villages/buildings/ruins/trees.....
Talad says: 3) Add NPCs, monsters, cave entrances, quests
Talad says: i realized that the land to cover is quite large
Damola says: Ah, that explains it, yes, its about 20 seconds
Fliks says: yeah theres a 30 second delay betwen the person streamer and the person watching
Talad says: and this is why is taking time, but at the same time it's fun to make
Talad says: At the moment I terraformed the land to the west of Hydlaa, after the arena
Talad says: in the direction of admeneir
Talad says: added moutains, plains...
Talad says: and now I'm making a village name "Homestead"
Gonger says: Great work
Fliks says: sounds very coasy
Talad says: this village is mostly based on rivnaks and goujah
Talad says: there wqill be pens for those
Talad says: and also some other shops/tavern
Talad says: NPCs to be invented
Damola says: Nice!
Holesod says: Sounds great!
Talad says: I think one big part of UE release is exploration
Talad says: it will have for some parts the feeling of an "adventure game" old style
Damola says: Yeah, the outdoor area is much larger, but also Amdeneir is very much larger as well.
Holesod says: oh I definitely can appreciate that
Talad says: I want to maximize as much as possible the "roleplay" and the "exploration" part and not much the combat
Fliks says: ooh yeah i like the sound of that
Talad says: most RPG or MMO are basically action RPG
Damola says: I also do.
>Holesod Sacerey nods in agreement with Fliks Clawrer.
Damola says: Also it looks sooo much better with Unreal.
Talad says: and give more space tothe storyline
Talad says: in any case you will be able to play it as you want
Talad says: if you want to fight all day you still can
Talad says: I think we will push a bit more on the achivements side, integrating that part from MyPlane into the game directly
Damola giggles "Little Fliks in Youtube."
Fliks says: ooh yes id like that
Uadjet says: Speaking of achievements, we really need new ones for Quests and Events. Gonger is at 250 Events now, I think. That's not the type of achievements you meant, but I thought it was worth mentioning.
>Teleported Anysu Atani to meetingore in instance 345
Fliks says: heh
Gonger says: 251
Fliks says: when did anysu get here
Talad says: also the game hours, stops at 1000 now
Anysu says: Just now Fliks
Uadjet says: It's in the stream, and I'll post the log. Which I've forgotten to do lately. Oops.
Damola chuckles
Fliks says: oh
Anysu says: Thanks, Uadjet
Damola says: Little Fliks has always been this small.
>Anysu Atani salutes Talad Dev with respect.
>Anysu Atani salutes Uadjet with respect.
Fliks giggles
Talad says: I think we can have more types of achievements
Talad says: but yes also expand the ones we already have
Fliks says: yes i like the sound of that
Uadjet says: Hours played tops out at 2500, Quests at 300 (when players can do 400), and Events cap at 100.
Uadjet says: Achievements for participating in the automatically generated events would be great. And for finding the little secret locations you lot have been working on.
Uadjet says: Oh, Talad also built a castle.
Uadjet says: Should probably mention that.
Damola says: A castle?
Uadjet says: A rather large thing to forget.
Uadjet says: I mentioned the yoke, but not the castle.
Gonger says: Talad, how many hours does your day have? Or do you need no sleep?
Talad says: its a more than a castle , its a set of castle pieces which can be used to build fortified builds like towers, castles
Talad says: I already used that set to create two of those
Talad says: fortress like
Anysu says: Nice
Fliks says: ooh
Anysu says: Saw a bit of the castle streams.
Damola says: Maybe I find them in game when running around in PSUnreal.
Uadjet says: There are things that won't be shown in streams, as players are meant to find them in game.
Talad says: I try to optimize my day a lot, and do PS pretty much everytime I have free time
Uadjet says: There have to be some surprises!
Talad says: that's mostly evenings and weekends
Talad says: or vacations/holidays
Damola says: Yeah, I get that, I did not ask for location. Rather like to find myself.
>Holesod Sacerey nods in agreement with Uadjet.
Talad says: there are already some "secret" locations, but they do not contain anything at the moment
Talad says: bvut they will
Damola says: Oh, Uadjet, when do you plan next PSUnreal test event? After next Alpha release?
Uadjet says: Could be next weekend, actually.
Damola says: Hmmm, okay.
Uadjet says: Have to show you lot the space behind the Bronze Doors.
Holesod says: oooo
Damola says: There is a lot of space? You told there is some, but a lot?
Damola says: Nice.
Fliks says: ooh i hope you emjoy it :D
Uadjet says: Well, "you lot" refers to the players, but there is a good space back there. And the waterfall doesn't come from nowhere.
Damola says: Nice.
Talad says: we need people to test the PSUnreal version
Talad says: as we need to find bugs
Talad says: mainly the ones crashing the server
Talad says: last event there were crashes, but we couldnt reproduce those afterwards
Fliks says: if only i had a better PC i would find a ton og bugs :D
Damola says: During the first event the server crashed several times, Uadjet, when was this? It was often somewhat around a group teleport, wasn't it?
Talad says: so I couldnt fix those
Uadjet says: A group teleport did seem to crash the server. We can test that again.
Dentritus says: I crashed a lot when fighting
Damola says: However… when running around on my own in PSUnreal I had no crashes, so it was something specific to the event.
Uadjet says: I teleported individuall after that, but for large events of 20+ people that would get tedious.
Damola says: Maybe the server can store crash dumps during the event, I think events are a good test case for PSUnreal
Uadjet says: Add a "y" to the previous sentence. If you can't spot where it should go, just add it anywhere.
Uadjet says: My previous sentence, that is. Not Damola's.
Damola grins to Uadjet's statement
Holesod says: I already spotted it
Damola also has
Holesod says: but before I read it without noticing it.. heh
Damola says: It can happen to the best of us.
Gonger says: Humans are pretty good at correcting those small errors, which is why proof-reading is a true art.
Damola says: human brains are awesome.
Holesod says: I do that too... I can type and miss something...
>Holesod Sacerey nods in agreement with Damola Etedi.
Uadjet nods. "Very true. I heard about one study that found that people could figure out what words were supposed to be as long as the first and last letters were correct, and most of the correct letters were present somewhere in the middle."
Uadjet says: So you've heard about Homestead, and the castle pieces.
Damola says: yes.
Uadjet says: That would make Fort Dostin easier to make.
Fliks says: yup im watchinh Talads stream now
Damola says: Fort Dostin?
Talad says: its quite modular, so we can build different castle-like buildings
Uadjet says: It's a few sectors over. There's an area with two Bronze Doors in it, and iirc Fort Dostin makes a nice triangle with both of those. There's a war college near there too, I think.
Damola says: hmmm, okay
Talad says: we have towers, battlements, bastions, doors, stairs, round stairs, etc...
Uadjet says: The 'Meet the Vigesimi' books don't just talk about the NPCs, you know!
Holesod says: sounds incredible
Fliks says: ooh sound like it would be fun to explore
Uadjet says: Yeah, you can get really high walls and towers with those pieces, plus plenty of interior buildings.
Uadjet says: Ah, just checked. It's the battle college that forms a triangle with the two bronze doors, with Fort Dostin actually lying directly beween the two BD Fortresses.
Uadjet says: Any questions?
Uadjet says: If so, please step up to the lecterns.
Damola says: two BD Fortresses? I thought there would just be the one we know.
Uadjet says: Oh no! There are... seven.
Talad says: there are many yes
Damola says: Oh it seems I still do not know enough of the lore.
Talad says: but located around hte dome outer wall
Uadjet says: Each named after something else. So the Eagle Bronze Doors is just the only one near here.
Talad says: the problem is that the playable area will probably never reach them :)
Holesod says: I remembered reading about some of them in the 'Meet the Vigesimi' books
Fliks says: aw
Damola says: So in this level the Eagle Head is the one, or would there be another one in this upper level?
Uadjet says: We could just add one more sector on the Gug/Amdeneir side. That would add Listarindel, Quinterion (Dermorian), Araloth kel'Maren (Stonehammer), and the Pterosaur Brone Doors.
Uadjet says: All Bronze Doors are on this level.
Damola says: That would be nice, but also a huge lot of work!
Damola says: Ah, I see.
Uadjet says: It's just that the two octants we have available only have one between them.
Anysu says: 7 BD Fortresses!
Uadjet says: Yeah, seven!
Holesod says: sounds like a monumental undertaking
Uadjet says: And the pieces - including the massive doors themselves - weren't even made on the Dome.
Anysu says: wow
Uadjet says: They were made on The Forge, which is three levels down.
Holesod says: oh wow
Uadjet says: As were the Winches, iirc.
Uadjet says: It's amazing how much lore you come across when you're searching for event ideas.
>Holesod Sacerey nods in agreement with Uadjet.
Damola says: So you are not running out of ideas for events anytime soon, Uadjet?
Damola ponders "Hmmm, we are over an hour."
Damola says: Oh, I have one question:
Gonger says: Next week we go glyph hunting again, I think.
Uadjet says: I managed to get you all to spend two events picking up manure, so I'm not running out of ideas as long as I can amuse myself like that from time to time.
Damola says: Where did all the lore come from? Who had the idea with the lore? Talad, you? Who wrote all the lore?
Uadjet says: I do consider that to be one of my main achievements as a GM, by the way. :D
Damola says: Ah, glyph hunter again, nice!
Anysu says: Dang! I can't make glyph unter next week til an hour and half after it starts.
Uadjet says: Much like my greatest achievement as an uncle was teaching my nieces the song "Monster Mash" to scare away monsters.
Damola is for giving Uadjet some GM achievements badges like doing 200 events and so on
Damola says: Uadjet, did you count how many events you did?
Damola says: Oh, but what about my lore Q?
Damola says: Where did all the lore come from? Who had the idea with the lore? Talad, you? Who wrote all the lore?
Damola says: Just thought about this recently.
Uadjet says: Talad did a lot of it. He's great at world building.
Uadjet says: Other than that, I think a lot of people contributed.
Uadjet says: Most of it was in place before I even found the game.
Anysu says: Agree a badge to Uadjet for all the events down.
Anysu says: *done*
Talad says: The lore of the game has been created by so many people
Talad says: at different epochs
Gonger says: Yes, how many events did you run, Uadjet?
Uadjet says: We'd have to give the Devs achievements for number of bugs squashed.
Damola says: yeah
Talad says: I contributed a lot, but I cannot evaluate the overall %
Uadjet says: And achievements to tester for finding bugs. Especially bugs that crash the game.
Fliks says: oh no im stuck
Uadjet says: The highest achivement in finding bugs that crash the game would simply be called "Yorlak", I think.
Anysu says: Good to hear about any helped create the lore.
Anysu says: *many*
Uadjet says: We're well past the hour. Any questions?
Damola says: Uadjet, how many events did you run?
Damola says: But yeah, we are also way past the hour
Gonger says: He is too modest to answer, Damola :)
Damola grins "Maybe."
Damola says: Maybe he does not know anymore :)
Uadjet says: Errr... 7 as Uadjet, 23 as Aachey, and 210 as my Event character.
Damola says: Nice 240 in total!
Damola says: A lot!
Damola hands Uadjets a special badge with "240 events done for players to have fun in game!"
Damola hopes GM had also fun.
Uadjet says: Yeah, running events is fun.
Anysu nods in agreement with Damola
>Holesod Sacerey nods in agreement with Uadjet.
Uadjet says: I'll admit, my first one a a trainee GM was a bit tense.
Fliks says: id say running the event is the best part
Uadjet says: I was in place, waiting. Then a horde of players came racing around the corner and headed right towards me.
Uadjet says: Had a momentary urge to go invisible.
Damola says: Haha.
Fliks says: hahaha
Holesod laughs
Damola says: Well, nice to know.
Gonger says: What? I am ahead even of Uadjet?
Uadjet says: Emaline ran some, as did Sorka. And a few of mine were run of different characters for a few reason. Plus I participated in some as a player.
Anysu says: wow I have only did 151 events..thought it be more.
Damola says: Okay, time for me.
Uadjet says: Yeah, I think we can bring the meeting to a close. Thank you all for coming, and we'll see you again in two weeks!
Damola says: Thanks to all developers, to Talad, to Uadjet!
Fliks says: bye
Dentritus says: Thank you all
>Holesod Sacerey thanks Uadjet!
Damola says: And thank you to all players!
>Holesod Sacerey thanks Talad Dev!
Damola says: All together is PlaneShift and Yliakum.

Uadjet says: Hello and welcome to the Developer's Q&A! This is an out-of-character meeting where you can hear about the development of the game and ask the Dev and GM teams any questions you might have. If you do have any questions, please line up at the lecterns in front of the stage.
Uadjet says: Dentritus?
Dentritus says: Wydj sold a quest item earlier today the wooden sword
Dentritus says: I guess there is a flag not set correctly
Gonger says: He said he made a petition.
Uadjet says: I replaced it.
Gonger says: Is this indeed a flag missing, or is it in general possible to sell Quest Items?
Gonger says: I have not tried it on purpose...
Dentritus says: I know only of the apprentice wands
Uadjet says: The item is not in the correct category, I think.
Dentritus says: but except for the azure or dark you can get these multiple times
Mishka says: Hey, not a question, but may I have some help putting up some signs after this please?
Uadjet says: It's in Weapons - Shortswords, not Quest Items.
Uadjet says: Merchants buy by category, so as there's no merchant players can access that buys quest items, selling them should be impossible.
Swee grunts at all those who recently entered...
Gonger says: Wrong category, I think that is what Dentritus meant.
Uadjet nods.
Uadjet says: I'll pass that along. As the only use for the item is in a quest, it probably should be in that category.
Gonger says: Thank you.
Dentritus says: On the other hand a way to mark items as blocked so one can't sell them accidentally would be nice too
Uadjet says: That would work, though creating another flag is probably more work.
Uadjet says: There are other items that can be sold but shouldn't be, of course.
Uadjet says: So a flag would be the better solution.
Uadjet says: Yes?
Uadjet says: Oh.
Uadjet facepalms.
Uadjet says: Right.
Fayrene chuckles
Uadjet says: Okay, as nobody else is at the lecterns I'll give you a little update.
Uadjet says: Talad released the new alpha - we're at 7.11 now - which includes a long list of fixes and updates.
Damela says: And we did first event in it yesterday! :)
Uadjet says: Quite right!
Fayrene says: it went well then?
Damela says: Exploring Delver. Catching a thief.
Damela says: Well except for I think 3-4 server crashes, yes.
Damela says: :)
Fayrene laughs
Uadjet says: We tested things out and other than a crash possibly caused by a group teleport everything went well.
Anysu says: Awe neat. Too bad about the crash though.
Uadjet says: Talad's trying to track down the examine crash, but hasn't been able to reproduce it again.
Dentritus says: The movement in PSU takes some getting used to
Gonger says: Ah, during next event, then... :)
Fayrene says: maybe its the group? how much were there?
Gonger says: My impression is that most movement types are not implemented yet.
Mishka says: Paladin showing up again
Damela says: Yeah, those crashes do not happen when you run around in PSUnreal. It did this for more than a hour without a crash
Damela says: So it appeared to be something to have to do with event stuff.
Uadjet says: Movement does take a bit of getting used to, that's true. It's just a bit different.
Uadjet says: Everyone tested out the mantling system at the event.
Mishka says: I still don't like that fenkis have hunched shoulders
Uadjet says: Getting onto that roof is not easy.
Dentritus says: I crashed a lot when fighting
Dentritus says: And the rolling animation killed me a few times when I jumped down on the ledge in the death realm - rolled right of the way
Fayrene says: rolled? O_O
Uadjet says: Ah, yes. You do a little roll when you fall down a certain distance.
Uadjet says: It's always fun falling a kilometer and doing a little roll to absorb the impact. :D
Fayrene says: oh, interesting
Anysu says: Do you take less damage then when roll?
Gonger says: Some stairs need real climbing, at least for me.
Uadjet says: I have no idea, as I don't take falling damage.
Uadjet says: Like in the Plaza, Gonger?
Dentritus says: no falling damage yet
Gonger says: Yes
Gonger says: Before the Smithy
Uadjet says: I noticed that myself, and I don't think it was just there.
Fayrene says: maybe its better to have a ramp?
Damela says: I did not take any damage in PSUnreal so far, maybe did not yet jump down from high enough.
Dentritus says: I tried and there is no falling damage :)
Anysu says: Good to know.
Mishka says: I jumped off the WT and nothing
Mishka says: But I'm a cat, maybe I landed on my feet
Fayrene says: maybe *chuckles*
Anysu grins at Mishka's comment
Thosor says: We jumped off the eagle head and were teleported back.
Dentritus says: I am a stone and neither me nor the floor took damage
Uadjet says: Okay, so falling damage is still off for everyone.
Mishka says: They'll toggle it overnight and set up a camera to laugh at us
Fayrene laughs
Uadjet says: I would.
Thosor says: I wish turning wouldn't stop when mouse pointer hits edge of screen.
Thosor says: extra wear and tear on fingers.
Uadjet says: But as for the last update to Unreal, a lot of small fixes were done. You can do pterosaur travel now, which will make things a lot easier.
Thosor says: pterasaur looks like a squashed pigeon.
Uadjet says: The long running times from place to place are being considered. As I've said before it's a 21 minute sprint from Amdeneir to Hydlaa alone, and I don't know how long players will be able to sprint in PSU.
Fayrene grins
Dentritus says: really, was the first thing I tried and didn't manage it :(
Uadjet says: Sprinting is double running speed, so without sprinting it would be over 40 minutes to run between Amdeneir and Hydlaa.
Fayrene says: and on a rivnak?
Anysu says: Long time.
Thosor says: how fast for mounting when implemented?
Uadjet says: I haven't been able to test mount speed. I'll try morphing instead, and see if turning into a rivnak gives me their speed. It does in Legacy, so maybe...
Damela says: I still did not manage to mount a mount though or to actually sit in PSUnreal
Fayrene says: still much to do then
Thosor says: I can sit ok. no mounting though.
Gonger says: Where is the road Hydlaa - Amdeneir?
Gonger says: And what about riding our mounts? I could not /target mine to mount it
Fayrene says: btw... about sitting.... will it be able to sit on a chair?
Thosor says: sit is long press to ground. sit on chair is short press.
Damela says: Gonger, the outdoor areas have changed a lot
Uadjet says: To sit on a surface other than the ground it should be in front of you, I think. It can be tricky, but iirc I was able to sit on the benches on the elevated section between the Plaza and East Hydlaa.
Fayrene says: ah okay
Uadjet says: I think there is a road from Hydlaa to Amdeneir, but there are a lot of roads on that section of the map and I don't know the route.
Thosor says: I am sitting on the anvil now, I think at the smithy.
Uadjet says: I tend to aim myself in vaguely the right direction, slide myself up half a kilometer, and slide myself forward while falling.
Thosor says: oh, I am sitting with Aleena.
Thosor says: use magic gps spell.
Uadjet says: So the first Unreal event went well, and I've got antother one planned where you'll get to see the new Bronze Doors and what's on the other side.
Fayrene says: wow
Anysu says: Surreal knowing you are one place in the world in PSU and in another place in the word in Legacy.
Sudarew says: I have a question: When downloading the unreal game do you need to unzip the file?
Sudarew says: I'm using a windows.
Uadjet says: You do. It's a zip file, iirc.
Anysu says: Neat idea to get to see on other side of the Bronze door.
Sudarew says: Should I unzip it into its current folder, or do I need to zip it into something else?
Uadjet says: There's no install file in there, so just unzip it into wherever you want the game to be.
Sudarew says: Thanks
Gonger says: Yes, zip file, absolutely no problem with that.
Gonger says: But do not try to update from 0.7.8... Download 0.7.10, then use the upgrade function from the launcher.
Uadjet says: So Talad's been working on terraforming the map. He's trying to maximize the playable area and makes things look natural.
Thosor says: Yeah,I don't think it messes with the registry or anything.
Uadjet says: No, you can just unzip and play.
Uadjet says: It installs files to AppData, but does that when you launch the game.
Uadjet says: Talad's also been creating little secret area for things like shrines, remote cabins, random events, etc.
Uadjet says: He didn't livestream that one, of course!
Fayrene chuckles
Fayrene says: good for a hide and seek event then
Uadjet says: Oh, don't encourage me to do events where I hide things for you all to find. I sometimes hide things too well.
Fayrene says: oh oh XD
Anysu says: A scavenger hunt evenr
Anysu says: *event*
Uadjet says: Let's see... Oh, terraforming includes a little farm area near Hydlaa.
Thosor says: radio foxhunt
Uadjet says: That will be nice to have.
Uadjet says: People won't have to wonder where all the food comes from.
Gonger says: That reminds me of Jabberwocky (movie), the Hiding Tournament...
Fayrene says: hu? we can plant our vegetables then?
Thosor says: and feed our pets to them.
Gonger says: With them, Thosor. With them :)
Fayrene says: beast-eating plant *chuckles*
Thosor says: hehe 'feed me'
Anysu says: It is just a location.. we can't actually plant there/
Gonger says: The Little Shop of Thosor.
Anysu says: lol Gonger
Anysu says: It is just a location.. we can't actually plant there?
Uadjet says: We have those. They're called Gorweals.
Uadjet says: I think the farms are just locations for now.
Sudarew says: Can Gorweals grant wishes?
Uadjet says: Planting would be fun, but that involves creating a whole new system.
Dentritus says: Depends on your wish
Uadjet says: @Sudarew: Try stuffing one into a lamp and find out.
Thosor says: for vegetarians, you have to plant your kikiries at least 1 meter apart.
Gonger says: Speaking of system... Any news about an improved crafting system? Interface?
Thosor says: magic 3d printer.
Uadjet says: He hasnt' worked on that in a while. He's worked on the crafting book display, getting it so that selecting an item will show the steps and materials needed to make it.
Uadjet says: It'll be a lot clearer than it is now.
Thosor says: It is fun going through the present books in mind backwards to figure out.
Thosor says: some still drive on the incorrect side of the road.
Mishka says: Welp, I gotta go, good times were had
Sudarew says: o/
Thosor says: where?
Damela says: Time for me as well
Swee vanishes...
Uadjet says: Oh, and the plan is for every race to have a city in the current 2 sectors.
Anysu says: Nice
Uadjet says: So nobody will have to wait for entirely new sections of the map.
Anysu says: Bye to those leaving
Uadjet says: I must admit, the Stonehammer city sounds amazing.
Damela says: Nice.
Anysu says: Stonehammers I think will be happy to have a city.
Dentritus says: Will there be an almost deserted diaboli town?
Thosor says: rivers of beer
Fayrene says: and will dakkru have a nice new body?
Uadjet says: Diaboli will be coming back, so they will have the twon of Homestead I think.
Uadjet says: I'm pitching places for the Stonehammer city that are near the outer edge, so it can be dug as deep as the wiki article says.
Anysu says: Wow. It will be neat to see the Diaboli back
Thosor says: Diabolical
Dentritus says: Back from the death realm or the new arrivals
Fayrene says: now.... chelsair and attier would be happy to have that place!
Anysu says: Really liked having them in recent event.
Anysu nods at Fayrene
Damela says: Yeah, that was nice.
Damela says: See you all!
Uadjet says: Maybe both? It would require a change of lore, so perhaps they'll all be recent arrivals.
Fayrene says: see you damela
Uadjet says: Well, relatively recent.
Uadjet says: Onces that arrived after the other Diaboli left for the Death Realm.
Dentritus says: But the homeworld was destroyed not too long ago, so there might be an increase in new arrivals
Uadjet says: I'm assuming the portals have a bit of temporal slippage, so people who leave a month apart may arrive here decades apart.
Uadjet says: That or time on the Dryken Plane is really wonky.
Uadjet says: But the hour is up. Any more questions? Or questions I missed?
Fayrene says: maybe there is a mage who can control rifts....
Fayrene says: no, i have no questions
Uadjet says: You can see the list of updates on the main page of planeshift.it
Leeza says: Thanks, Uadjet
Anysu says: Thanks for th update!
Dentritus says: Thanks for the update
>Anysu Atani salutes Uadjet with respect.
Thosor says: thanks
Fayrene says: thank you uadjet for the information ^^
Uadjet says: So I think we're done for the day. I'll see you at the next meeting in two weeks! Have fun!
Fayrene says: you too!
