In-Game Roleplay Events / Event Times Are Changing!
« on: February 17, 2023, 09:21:09 pm »
I'm going to try and run events in both Legacy and PSU for now, if it goes well. Obviously I can't do both at the same time - I'll lose my mind playing that many characters in different conversations at once, and it'll take me 10-15 seconds to alt-tab between games each time - so they'll be one after the other. Please check the calendar to see which is at which time, and feel free to give feedback on how it works for you.

And the Rag and Bone Man will be done in Legacy only. I need multiple clients for it, and cannot do that in PSU.

PlaneShift News and Rules / Dev Q&A February 12th 2023
« on: February 12, 2023, 05:52:20 pm »
Aachey:  Hello and welcome to the first Dev Q&A held in Unreal!
Zarre:  Hi and thanks
Aachey:  I'll be running the meeting as Aachey today, as Uadjet the character cannot be loaded.
Aachey:  I'm assuming it has something to do with being a Derghir.
Thosor:  Interesting, haven't seen one here yet.
Aachey:  Obviously the big news for this meeting is the official switch from the Legacy version of the game to the Unreal version.
Aachey:  Okay, is it just me or is the stage both higher and smaller?
Zarre:  Agree with both higher and smaller
Thosor:  anysu's table is still here.
Aachey:  So we held another event yesterday, and overall things went fairly well. There are still some GM commands that aren't working quite right, but those shouldn't be too hard to fix.
Thosor:  could almost lose a Dwarf under the tables
Aachey:  I'm still getting used to the different commands, so if I randomly crouch or attack Gonger, please assume that it wasn't intentional.
Gonger:  Good to know, Aachey.
Talad:  First dev meeting in PSUnreal , wooooo !
Talad:  we can sit now
Talad:  :)
Talad:  Gonger you can sit
Aachey:  Well, that worked pretty well!
Talad:  ok, I see the need of a gossip channel
Aachey:  I'm assuming /shout is no longer universal?
Talad:  I think it's 50 meters
Aachey:  And inside a guildhouse map it'll only be heard by those already inside. Gotcha.
Thosor:  i can not "examine" Zarre from here, but it was like that here in the courthouse in legacy, too.
Aachey:  So, does anyone have any questions?
Talad:  you can sit on the benches if you want
Talad:  look at the bench standing in front of it, and press z once
Thosor:  I was standing to hear better.
Talad:  in unreal you can sit like in a chair
Talad:  stand like this
Talad:  look at me
Talad:  the flat area should be in front of you
Talad:  you we 90 degrees rotated
Talad:  in front of your legs
Talad:  your character rotates 180 degrees to sit
Talad:  parallel to the chair
Talad:  dont hold z, just tap z
Aachey:  If you stand where I am and face the bench, it should work.
Talad:  there is zarre there
Talad:  she blocks the sit
Talad:  also dont hold z, just press z once
Talad:  a bit lcoser
Talad:  yes
Talad:  but you were rotated
Talad:  stay thre and look at me
Talad:  I mean your char should look at me
Talad:  its not where you camera looks , its what your char faces
>Talad waves.
Talad:  face me
Talad:  rotate 90 degrees to your right
Talad:  exactly
Aachey:  Oh, still mantling onto other players.
Thosor:  I don't want to crowd Zarre
Thosor:  But I did not mantle her.
Talad:  I should remove the idle when sitting
Aachey:  No, I was climbing onto Gonger. You're entirely innocent in the matter. :)
Thosor:  I only get 5fps anyway
Aachey:  I'm hovering around 50 in here.
Thosor:  where's Gova, Damola? they were in legacy
Thosor:  on the chart, damola announced to be here in gossip.
Aachey:  They were both on in Legacy earlier today, yeah. And they both can play the Unreal version, as I've seen them both online.
Aachey:  Night falls in the guildhouse....
Talad:  there is a strange bug that exactly at midnight the light goes up, then down again
Talad:  it's 0:04 now
Aachey:  How delightfully bizarre.
Thosor:  I never had any light control in legacy in this room, or the tavern, some of BD
Talad:  how does PSUnreal looks to you? did you play it a bit?
Talad:  any comments?
Thosor:  There is no light control by KB here, such as F12?
Talad:  you mean gamma correction... no there is not
Gonger:  Still struggling with sitting.
Gonger:  After yesterday's event I am very optimistic.
Gonger:  About PSU
Talad:  to sit just face the chair
Talad:  or any flat low surface
Talad:  be parallel to it if you can
Talad:  and close to the border
Talad:  then press z once
Gonger:  Gotcha!
Thosor:  Even after a lot of practice, I don't like the moving and camera views, etc.
Talad:  exacltly
Aachey:  The Stonehammer robe looks very warm.
Talad:  did you press C while moving Thosor?
Gonger:  Movement is still... awkward.
Talad:  I suggest pressing C, then R for autorun
Gonger:  It's not the speed.
Talad:  then just move with your mouse
Thosor:  I use M
Talad:  M wrong game version :)
Talad:  but yes if you remapped it
Thosor:  ?
Thosor:  I did not remap anything
Talad:  there is no M in Unreal
Talad:  you can press C
Talad:  then R for autorun
Talad:  then just move your mouse
Talad:  you can control the sensitivity of the mouse under controls
Thosor:  c doesn't do anything
Talad:  when you press C your mouse cursor should disappear
Talad:  and your char should move in the direction your mouse is giving
Talad:  let me fix your chair aachey
Thosor:  m is listed for mouse move here, but I don't remember setting it.
Thosor:  I am on Linux, but will try on windows later.
Talad:  its the same
Talad:  I mean windows or linux is the same
Thosor:  Too bad we are losing yet more people on Macs.
Talad:  what you mean we are losing Mac people?
Talad:  Mac is working in Unreal
Gonger:  I wanted to open a forum thread to help people, but I  got a database error.
Thosor:  lsost several friends when apple dropped 32bit or whatever.
Gonger:  Some Mac people need to upgrade.
Talad:  it's like hardware of 12+ years ago
Thosor:  Aljuvialle for one.
Talad:  a computer cannot last that much
Talad:  he/she will buy a new PC I guess?
Thosor:  yeah, but $2,000 or more for a quickly disposable laptop....
Talad:  I bought the MacMini for 900$ and it's more than what is needed
Talad:  a used one will be less than that
Talad:  games are usually targeting hardware of 1-2 years in the future.
Talad:  we cant target hardware 12 years in the past :)
Talad:  10 minutes left for me
Talad:  if you have any questions please do
Thosor:  I am on Framework 1.5 yrs old
Thosor:  well, It can only get better here.
Thosor:  I was going to build a new PC but due to supply shortages, a pretty stale chouice of motherboards, etc.
Talad:  what is a meetingore ? ahah
Thosor:  meetingore?
Talad:  he picked up one
Aachey:  That's the traditional teleport target placed in the courthouse for GM's to teleport players to.
Thosor:  ah
Thosor:  how do you get objects to name when hovering with curser?
Thosor:  I have to examine, for instance, Anysu's table. or other objects.
Aachey:  If you click on them with the mouse, the name should appear.
Gonger:  Talad, what is it with the forums? Database error?
Talad:  yes its only by click at the moment
Thosor:  But in legacy it would just show up, less clicking, or moving by mistake.
Talad:  not aware of that Gonger, when it happens?
Aachey:  I was having trouble with the forums weeks ago, trying to paste in Q&A logs.
Thosor:  OK, did'nt know if it was a setting
Talad:  at the moment its now, but can be added back
Talad:  *its not
Thosor:  Also, long chats don't scroll, have to move it up manually, already noted, I believe.
Gonger:  I was trying to open a new topic, but could not.
Gonger:  I will try again...
Talad:  long chat was not scrolling before
Talad:  should be fixed now
Talad:  does still happen for you?
Talad:  try , example /who
Thosor:  yes,here, now, too.
Talad:  will be interesting to know if it's a Linux only issue
Thosor:  who works ok
Thosor:  but if typed more than a line, it does not scroll.
Gonger:  Nope, not possible to open a new topic
Talad:  let me try to type more than a line, more than a line, more than a line, more and more.
Talad:  I see both lines ok here
Thosor:  do it again, was looking t forum, sorry.
Talad:  let me try to type more than a line, more than a line, more than a line, more and more.
Thosor:  I only get first line.
Thosor:  then have to scroll
Talad:  anyone else getting the same problem?
Thosor:  slash who is OK
Aachey:  I met a traveller from an antique land,Who said??Two vast and trunkless legs of stoneStand in the desert. . . . Near them, on the sand,Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown,And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,Tell that its sculptor well those passions readWhich yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed;And on the pedestal, these words appear:My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings;Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!Nothing beside remains. Round the decayOf that colossal Wreck, boundless and bareThe lone and level sands stretch far away.?
Talad:  I see it all
Aachey:  That should be more than a line for everyone. It scrolled properly for me.
Talad:  without need of scrolling
Thosor:  One who builds airplane in own garage, does not get to pilot much :)
Aachey:  On Windows.
Thosor:  I'll try on W10 later
Talad:  I have to go
Talad:  good to see you
Talad:  have fun
>Talad waves.
Zarre:  bye
>Thosor bows to Talad.
Talad Dev has quit
Aachey:  Any last thoughts or questions?
Thosor:  No further questions, your Honor.
Zarre:  I'll 2nd that statement
Aachey:  Okay, then I think we can bring the meeting to a close. Thank you for coming, and we'll see you at the next meeting in two weeks!
Aachey:  Have fun!

Gonger says: Greetings! I do not have a question, but an announcement: The semi-official-one-dwarf-PR-team today became the official-one-dwarf-PR-team.

There we go. Not sure how that line got deleted. I typically filter out the "greets" lines, but not Greetings. Odd.

I'll try again to post the log.

Uadjet says: That wasn't meant to give you ideas, Thosor!
Thosor says: heehee

Even pasting one line at a time is getting rejected, now.

Laremon looks at Thosor and whispers "What is it with that oven? Is it cursed?
Damola admits "I have many trash too. Only seven slots in main inventory free and about 17 containers in there might tell a story"
Damola says: Not cursed I think
Damola however still casts a series of cleaning spells onto the oven
Uadjet says: Hello and welcome to the Developer's Q&A! This is an out-of-character meeting where you can hear about the development of the game and ask the Dev and GM teams any questions you might have. If you do have any questions, please line up at the lecterns in front of the stage.
Damola continues to prepare her meal.
Uadjet says: Yes, it's my portable waste disposal device.
>Laremon Tillipaff bows to Uadjet.
>Damola Etedi picked up a Toasted Barley and Mushrooms
>Damola Etedi dropped a Toasted Barley and Mushrooms.
Damola says: Oh, Uadjet, do not mind me, just quickly preparing a meal.
>Damola Etedi picked up a Wild Rice
Damola says: Nice trash oven you have here. Can cook real meals though
Damola finished heating up her meals and leaves the stage.
>Damola Etedi picked up a Toasted Barley and Mushrooms
Uadjet facepalms.
>Uadjet picked up an Uadjet's Trash-Be-Gone
Damola starts to munch on toasted barley and mushrooms
Damola says: Well not only usable to dispose waste. Also good ffor heating some food.
Uadjet says: Well, it's a renamed Forge so you might want to be careful how long you put food in there...
Damola protests "I am not putting food inside, but on top of it."
Uadjet says: Laremon?
Damola looks to Laremon "Someone with a Q it seems."
Uadjet says: I hope you cleaned it first.
Damola says: I put a series of cleaning spells on it, just in case.
Damola says: You never know with stuff from Uadjet.
Laremon says: Noble Derghir. I have a question, please. Let me think how to phrarse it
Damola smirkts towards Uadjet
>Damola Etedi listens intently to Laremon Tillipaff.
Laremon ponders
Laremon says: I was trying to visit the new world, but was alaways rejected , when I tried to move. [Slackware Linux, client crash]
Damola says: What do you mean by new world?
Gonger says: This meeting is OOC, no need for brackets.
Gonger says: PSU, methinks.
>Laremon Tillipaff nods at Damola Etedi.
Damola says: or switch towards different area in legacy PS?
Uadjet says: Yes, there's no need to be in-character in these meetings. They'd be impossible to run that way.
Laremon says: The character always spawns at the plaza/. I can hear sound. As soon as I turn to Harnquist the client crashes.
Uadjet says: What if you turn the other way? Still crashes?
Laremon says: I can try now.
Uadjet says: There is that Hydlaa crash bug, that's been around forever. There a patch Talad has that might help fix it. It's a Linux-only issue.
Thosor says: i'm in there now, on linux, ran from plaza to harnquist'
>Laremon Tillipaff nods at Uadjet.
Laremon says: Everything is slow motion
Thosor says: poof, he's gone
Laremon says: System is i5, 16 GB, nvidia gpu, ssd hard drive. If you need more information I can supply it
Gonger says: Put those infos on the forum.
Laremon says: Ok. Thanks
>Laremon Tillipaff bows to Uadjet.
Laremon says: Thanks.
Thosor says: I'm running around the fountain area
Thosor says: no problems yet
Koraza says: Thanks Gonger
Uadjet says: Congratulations!
>Gova Liernan cheers happily at Gonger Xaraha!
Gonger says: So I will be doing more or less what I am doing now - welcoming newbies, promoting PS on websites, etc
>Thosor Riereri claps.
Gonger says: But with some official touch, which may make it easier to propose to websites with a 10 year old review to make a new review, for example.
Gonger says: So if any of you have ideas about promoting PS, but not time, let me know. In-game, on discord, mail through the forums, whatever.
Gonger says: For example, I have a pretty good view of websites with reviews on PS. That's easy to google.
Gonger says: But less easy is to find websites where PS SHOULD be mentioned, but is not.
Gonger says: So whenever you come across such a website, drop me the link, and I will see what I can do.
Gonger says: Uadjet, should I be up there now as well?
Gonger says: But nevermind, I am the same Gonger guy, and since what I will be doing is mostly OOC stuff, I will be playing as before.
Uadjet says: Yeah, step up!
Uadjet says: It's mostly OOC, but a good bit of it is in game.
Gonger says: So strange to be up here after all those years.
Gonger says: Well, the newbie welcoming is In-game, of course. But I try to keep this IC as much as possible.
Uadjet says: I'm torn between: "It's nice to have someone else up here" and "Wow, I'm short!"
Gonger says: Real greatness does not depend on physical size.
>Koraza Annx claps for Gonger Xaraha.
Uadjet says: Also, size is alterable.
Koraza says: haha
Damola makes "Whoa!"
Damola says: The Giant Uadjet!
Gonger says: Any questions or propositions for the PR team?
Koraza says: The magnificent Uadjet never-the-less
Uadjet continues on in a cartoonishly high-pitched voice.
Damola drops some cookies in front of Little Uadjet
Damola ponders "Well but Uadjet is still Uadjet and not a Yulbar, but might like it anyway"
Uadjet says: So the main announcement to make this week is that the Unreal version of the game is now available to everyone!
Damola says: Yeah!
Uadjet says: It's posted on the main page, and we're already seeing a good uptick in player numbers.
Damola says: And it is awesomely awesome as well!
Damola says: It has gone a long way since the first versions I tested!
Uadjet says: I will, of course, be spending increased time in PSU, to make sure none of them leave behind genitalia art. I'm sure that'll be rare, though, as the new players I've seen seem genuinely interesting in playing and/or contributing to the game.
Uadjet says: Events will continue on in this version of the game, as the Unreal version still copies over the CS player database.
Damola says: Yeah.
Uadjet says: For now, only character progress in Legacy will stick around.
Damola says: But that gives interesting opportunities in PSUnreal. For now you can just spend millions of trias for something… and it does not have any long term consequences.
Damola ponders "But what actually to spend them on?"
Thosor says: how do you make the art?
Uadjet says: But whatever you spent the tria on will be gone in the next update, and the tria returned.
Damola nods "Exactly that."
Thosor says: just kidding.

Uadjet says: Hello and welcome to the Developer's Q&A! This is an out-of-character meeting where you can hear about the development of the game and ask the Dev and GM teams any questions you might have. If you do have any questions, please line up at the lecterns in front of the stage.
Anysu says: Maybe. I did see Gonger is around.
Anysu says: In the plaza but maybe afk
Uadjet says: Okay, I'll give a quick update, then, on what's going on behind the scenes.
Uadjet says: Now, I think I mentioned that Talad was working on cinematic sequences at the last meeting, right?
Anysu nods
Anysu says: Oh Migg is on
Uadjet says: Those include not only cutscenes, but also smaller things where the camera moves to capture something impressive, like a great combat move or entering a new area. Just a second or two long, no loading anything extra, but they really do add flavour to the game.
Migg says: What is it holding in its handses, precious?
Uadjet says: I know the first time I saw Amdeneir in game it was pretty much perfect: The lighting, the angle... Just coming up over a hill and spotting Amdeneir through the trees. Something like that really adds to the atmosphere of a place, so those will be fun to have in game.
Migg says: You sound like you are about to propose
Migg says: taking it out for a picnic?
Uadjet grins. "Wouldn't be a bad spot for it"
Migg says: :D
Anysu says: Maybe since Uadjet is godlike, he is holding our souls.
Migg says: nah, it's a picnic basket
Migg says: he wants a date with Amdeneir
>You spawned Picnic Basket to your inventory.
Anysu says: All our souls in a picnic basket....
Anysu says: lol
Anysu says: See..
Uadjet says: There we go. :)
Anysu says: lol
>Migg Ellorean raises an arm and points towards Souls.
Anysu says: Sorry, go on while I try to stop loling.
Migg says: now we're just soulless puppent :D
Migg says: *puppets
Uadjet says: That's a weird setup for emotes.
>Uadjet stares at Souls with interest.
>Uadjet laughs heartily at Souls.
>Name changed successfully
Migg says: now if you were holding a scythe or something...
>Uadjet picked up a Player's Souls
>Uadjet dropped a Player's Souls.
>You spawned Magic Staff of Void to your inventory.
>Anysu Atani looks at Player's Souls and panics..!
Migg says: there, the ripper of souls!
Anysu facepaws
>Uadjet beckons Player's Souls with a slight gesture of the hand.
Uadjet says: Okay, so back to things slightly less silly...
Anysu nods
Uadjet says: Talad was also working on the Main Quest.
Migg says: silly is tha salt of life
Migg shuts up
Uadjet says: In this case, it's the way players enter the game. He's not planning on a tutorial area, per se, so the current tutoral area will be open for new NPCs. I've got a few in mind already.
Migg says: place is set up like a marketplace
Uadjet says: That could work. It's a nice, unique area.
Gonger says: So newbies are not going to start with Drykken Plane? Good news, that.
Uadjet says: Well, they are starting there. That's the plan, at least.
Uadjet coughs.
Migg says: I did not find it an easy experience, kind of disorienting
Uadjet says: After that they'll end up on the far side of the Bronze Doors, with the two rivers and the icky mushroom dripping black tar.
Gonger says: But the Drykken Plane needs more work...?
Uadjet says: It does. It's doesn't feel organic.
Uadjet says: Like it's a strange minigame people play before they start playing Planeshift.
Gonger says: As I said in my bug report, I like the general idea, but in its current form it will scare away newbies.
Migg says: ^
Gonger says: I will re-test it in the next release.
Thosor says: I've never made it out of there.
Thosor says: Waited for a new release last time.
Uadjet says: I've made it a few times, but failed on my first attempt. Maybe it's just that I know precisely what to do, and that makes it easier for me.
Migg says: I got stuck in there, but admittedly that was a rather early version.
Uadjet says: Talad has also worked on guildhouses, as well as guildmaps that players can enter.
Thosor says: And that is after a long period of deciding who to be.
Uadjet says: Like this map, or the Octarch's Residence.
Uadjet says: Up until now trying to enter those maps in PSU would drop you into the Dryken Plane, which is unhelpful.
Uadjet says: Talad's fixed the guildmaps with NPCs in them - although I'll have to ask about the Menita's Puzzle maps - and I think he's got the courthouse working as well.
Thosor gets a closer look
Gova says: Oh, I haven't done that quest in ages.
Uadjet says: Let's see... He's done map fixes, item fixes, and other bug fixes as well. Too many to list, but he's making good progress.
Uadjet says: He's closing bug reports faster than they appear, which I take as a good sign. :)
Thosor says: so fixing bugs before they happen :)
Anysu sings 'Squash those bugs right out of the game."
>Anysu Atani lets out a hearty laugh!
Anysu says: Sorry, please continue.
Uadjet says: As for me, I missed a lot of the bugfixing streams because I was writing quests.
Uadjet says: Or I had them playing but wasn't paying attention.
Migg says: reminds me of beetlejuice for some reason...
Uadjet says: I was aiming for a quest a day, not counting event days, but came up a little short. I've written five new quests and adapted another five that I had previously written for use with new NPCs in PSU.
Uadjet says: The adapted quests are the two intro to lockpicking quests, two low-level lockpicking repeatables, and the leatherworking quest.
>Anysu Atani cheers happily!
Anysu says: 'Lockpicking!"
Migg says: Set in Oja I'd guess
Uadjet says: The new quests are one for each of the two Enki sisters for Delver, An Eye on the Road and Knowing the Hunting Grounds, the latter being the first to check and see if you have compendium entries to progress.
Uadjet says: I've also written a couple quests that give players travel instructions on how to get to Delver, since it's a new town and not the easiest to find.
Uadjet says: There's one in Hydlaa, and one in Ojaveda.
Uadjet says: And I have to admit that I have as much trouble doing quick quests as I do running quick events.
Thosor says: Like trying to make a short speech.
Uadjet says: My shortest quest so far was intended to be a couple quick conversations, and grew to 38 steps.
Uadjet says: The medium length quest ended up being 78 steps. And there's a max of 100 steps in a quest!
Anysu says: That seems like alot of steps.
Uadjet says: One conversation can be 10 steps, and be done in under a minute. Each time the player has a chance to say something, it's a step. And not all steps must be (or can be) taken. Some are things like reminder steps, for someone who has forgotten what they were supposed to get. Others are optional branches, or questions players can ask.
Migg says: Any documentation on the new quest syntax?
Uadjet says: The same as the old syntax, from what I understand.
Migg says: but you said quests can test for compendium entries
Uadjet says: Ah, that's easy.
Uadjet says: It's: Require compendium creature CreatureName or Require no compendium CreatureName.
Migg says: was always looking for something to test if players have used a musical instrument
Thosor says: played or practiced enough to listen to/
Uadjet says: Hmm. I doubt that information is stored anywhere.
Migg says: though I guess that would be a one-off anyway with the compendium, if it existed
Migg says: where are we with repeatable music quests, if I may ask?
Uadjet says: That's a good point. Players could get a compendium entry on an instrument on playing it, which could then be checked in a quest.
Uadjet says: Only Talad (and Ven, if h'e around) can add quests. Did you send Talad a final version?
Migg says: No, did not get to repeatables, and now the initial quest will probably be missing
Migg says: the one that introduces music
Uadjet says: Ah, right. Well, I can work on repeatables, but that's hard to do without having new music. I could try doing one with music-themed errands.
Migg says: first thing that's missing is a list of new NPCs with any relation to music
Uadjet says: I was planning on asking which quests people want added, and the missing repeatables are certainly on the list.
Uadjet says: There's a house in Delver that has a number of instruments in it.
Migg says: Ah, nice!
Migg says: but another stumbling point is what to ask for in a repeatable that can be measured
Migg says: can only send them around to NPCs
Uadjet says: In addition, new NPCs can be added. Small towns may have limited numbers, but there's room in the tutorial area now, and in the 75% of Amdeneir that's empty.
Anysu says: I can't even imagine the vast task it is to fill a place with npcs.
Uadjet says: Oh, and a new Dsar in Oja.
Uadjet says: That needs NPCs too.
Migg says: Don't want to hijack the meeting, but some notes of how e.g. Kaiman's supplies is done would be nice
Migg says: how to send the player to a random NPC and have that NPC expect them, without going past these 100 steps :D
Uadjet says: I've got a list of NPCs for Amdeneir - which is badly in need of editing down - but it's just names, genders, professions, and family links. Adding things like descriptions, equipment, Knowledge Areas, and quests takes a lot longer. :)
Migg says: Perhaps I should revisit my quests, I think I had sent them to you at some point, feel free to reuse any part if you like
Uadjet says: Right now I'm adding new NPCs as I need them for quests. One of the quests that gives directions is A Fruitless Endeavor, and that introduces two new NPCs: One's a labourer at Oja's mills, and the other a grocer.
Uadjet says: Oh, and Haviland has done the Compass quest! Not the easiest to find, but once we get it approved it can be added to PSU.
Uadjet says: Until then I'll keep dropping compasses on Toda's counter.
Anysu says: cool
Gonger says: Good job
Migg says: So go visit Toda while you have the time ;)
Thosor says: I've been sitting on Toda's counter since the last release
Thosor says: No compasses
>Uadjet raises a drink to Player's Souls before gulping it down. Cheers!
Uadjet says: I'll refill the counter.
Uadjet says: Any questions? Thoughts?
Thosor says: No, good job.
>Anysu Atani cheers happily at Player's Souls!
>Anysu Atani grins at Player's Souls impishly.
>Thosor Riereri looks at Player's Souls and panics..!
>Migg Ellorean sighs dramatically at Player's Souls.
>Uadjet pokes Player's Souls.
Anysu says: Are there emotes in PSU?
>Migg Ellorean salutes Player's Souls with respect.
Thosor says: any way to tell if players on on in PSU? teamix thing?
Uadjet says: Yes. There's a radial menu that pops up. I'm not sure if there the same emotes using commands, though.
Anysu nods
Uadjet says: Umm.. Not from outside the game, as far as I know.
Thosor says: Is useful before firing up a desktop.
Migg says: what about from inside?
Anysu says: Yes it helps to know who is online in game.
>Migg Ellorean bursts into tears on Player's Souls's shoulder.
Uadjet says: A /who still works in PSU
Thosor says: Or switch the computer to PS from workstation mode.
Migg says: Ah, no window for friends?
Anysu says: To know who is in game when in game and when out of game.
Uadjet says: When in game it's easy. I'll have to ask Talad if it's possible to do it from outside the game.
>Thosor Riereri coughs at Player's Souls.
>Migg Ellorean motions to Player's Souls to follow.
Migg says: My, look at the time!
>Migg Ellorean tries to cover a yawn from Player's Souls.
Thosor says: yikes
Uadjet says: Yes, we are well past the hour.
Uadjet says: Thank you all for coming, and i'll see you at the next Q&A in two weeks!
>Migg Ellorean fidgets impatiently while waiting for Player's Souls.

Uadjet says: Hello and welcome to the Developer's Q&A! This is an out-of-character meeting where you can hear about the development of the game and ask the Dev and GM teams any questions you might have. If you do have any questions, please line up at the lecterns in front of the stage.
Zrak says: Hi
Uadjet says: Hi!
Uadjet says: If there are no immediate questions, I'll give an update on what's the happening behind the scenes.
Gonger says: Please do so.
Uadjet says: As many of you have assuredly noticed, the Unreal version is now on 0.7.26b
Uadjet says: Talad did some terraforming since our last meeting. I think I mentioned the roads to and from Emerald Lake, but he's also linked up Homestead and fixed a large number of map glitches.
>Teleported Anysu Atani to Anysu's Small Table in instance 345
Anysu grins
>Anysu Atani salutes Uadjet with respect.
Anysu says: Thank you
Uadjet says: Just a repost...
Uadjet says: Talad did some terraforming since our last meeting. I think I mentioned the roads to and from Emerald Lake, but he's also linked up Homestead and fixed a large number of map glitches.
Uadjet says: Talad's also continued his work on random events, like random merchants.
Damola ponders "Anysu has her own small table here."
Uadjet says: He also spent a lot of time bugfixing - naturally - and has gone through the wishlist (feature requests) on flyspray to see which ones can be done.
Damola says: Yeah, Talad did a lot of bugfixing.
Uadjet says: Oh, and for those who saw the screenshot of the giant sphere on Discord, that was the marker used to show where Raurim was planned to be. It may move a bit, but there should be a village in that area. Right near the Observatory.
Uadjet says: He's also been looking into cinematic sequences, so the game might be getting a little more snazzy in the future. :)
Uadjet says: Let's see... The compass quest is coming along well. Haviland is the one working on that.
Uadjet says: I'm helping put it into the right format, which isn't too hard.
Uadjet says: The town of Delver is having NPCs added to it now.
Uadjet says: I've submitted a the NPCs I would add in the xml format that Talad can copy/paste in to load the NPCs.
Uadjet says: I'm not sure when they'll all be added, but they should be coming soon.
Uadjet says: I've also started writing some quests for them.
Uadjet says: So far I've got one quest each for the two Enki sisters that live there, and have been doing research into farming so that I can do one of the longer quests for the village. I'm also planning a quest to send players there, as it's not all that easy to find.
Damola says: cinematic sequences… how would that work exactly?
Gonger says: You see something at the end of character creation.
Damola says: hmm okay.
Uadjet says: Well, I think they're meant for times when you enter an area. Walk in, the cinematic plays, and then you're free to move. They might also be small things that appear in combat, like 'finishing moves'.
Damola says: nice work on quests and npcs you do
Uadjet says: I think more like Skyrim than Mortal Kombat.
Gonger says: Speaking of character creation - I did not see an option for Fast Character Creation?
Uadjet says: No, that's not in yet. I'll have to ask Talad about it. That and a way to spend leftover points at the end.
Gonger says: Good. It is quite possible that someone wants to try the game quickly, so a Fast Creation would be good.
Anysu nods at Gonger
Gonger says: I mentioned it before - what about a Guest character?
Gonger says: Who knows a bit of everything, but cannot leave a certain zone, for example?
Uadjet says: It should be pretty easy to come up with some templates. I can look at the ones in this version, actually. They're right there...
Uadjet says: I'm not sure I follow. Players creating guest characters?
Gonger says: No.
Gonger says: A pre-defined Guest character.
Gonger says: We had that in MUDs.
Gonger says: A character with limited abilities. Can do a bit of everything, but nothing too well (e.g. all skills at 10)
Gonger says: So it is possible to try everything with this character.
Gonger says: Guest will not be saved.
Gonger says: That's from the MUD lib :)
Jeranenie says: sounds like that could be covered a fast char template
Jeranenie says: ^by^
Uadjet says: Maybe.... A template would run out of points quickly trying to get a skill of 10 everywhere.
Gonger says: Oh, hiding in the alcove. I did not see you there.
Jeranenie says: there is no reason why a template could not set starting skill levels
Uadjet says: That is an interesting thought. The player could dabble a bit, just to see what can be done. A newbie area with crafting stations and some low-level critters to fight. Dummies too.
Gonger says: And with crafting stations.
Gonger says: But nothing can leave the are
Gonger says: area
Jeranenie says: and each char instance would be unique which is a requirement that you would have to fudge using a guest
Gonger says: Easy way to get an understanding of all the possibilities...
Zrak says: Hmm....with fair warning that this alt is only temporary?
Gonger says: Yes.
Gonger says: Of course.
Uadjet says: Basically a demo level.
Gonger says: An interactive demo.
Jeranenie says: more of a demo char ?
Zrak says: Love this idea, Gonger
Gonger says: You can play it, but not save it. But you know of hte possibilities.
Uadjet says: That's a good idea.
Uadjet says: It would be a project of significan size, but honestly the current tutorial area would make a good map for it.
Uadjet says: Okay, so my "To-Do" list just got a bit longer. :)
Uadjet says: No worries. It's good to have different things on the list. That way you can take a break from the task that's getting a bit tiring and still do somethign productive.
Gonger says: That's true.
Gonger says: As long as the list does not get overwhelmingly long.
Uadjet says: Any other thoughts or questions? Did I miss anything?
Uadjet says: Okay, so in the near future I'll be writing more quests for Delver and dabbling in the templates. Homestead also needs people in it, and Haviland has a couple proposed. I'm sure we can fill that out to a full village pretty quickly.
Damola says: Sounds like a lot of new stuff to explore.
Zrak says: It sure does
Jeranenie says: is there any plans for chars to have different attributes at creation ?
Uadjet says: Yeah, and we need to fill all of that space with... stuff. Ruins, remote towers, small villages of 2-4 families, etc. And monsters. Lots of monsters.
Uadjet says: Attribues are determined by species and the choices made. I think. Admittedly I tend to race through it. :)
Gonger says: Are new monsters planned?
Gonger says: Like, totally new creature types?
Uadjet says: New monsters require new models and animations, but there are some that can be added. Unreal has had some animal packs free over the years that we picked up, and even a monster pack or two. Admittedly a centaur is a centaur is a centaur, no matter what game it's in, so not all are approprate for PS>
Gonger says: Ah, that sounds interesting.
Uadjet says: Some are good, though. Like a giant lizard that Talad and Zwei worked on. It started as a dragon, but with the wings removed it becomes a good desert critter.
Uadjet says: There's also a boss critter animation that I like, but I'm having trouble getting other people interested. it's a giant gold worm that pops up out of the ground. It's good, and has some animations, but maybe not settings appropriate.
Uadjet says: Ah, found it. It's on sketchfab.com as gold sandworm.
Uadjet says: I thought Ojaveda could use something scary outside the walls. :)
Gonger says: Shai-Hulud?
Gonger says: The giant worms from Dune (novel, movie)
Uadjet says: I'm sure that's the inspiration for it.
Damola says: Thanks for all the updates.
Damola says: Time for me!
Uadjet says: Another thing that could be added relatively easily is a serpent of some sort.
Damola says: Not sure a worm would fit into the settings, yeah.
Damola says: A giant one at least.
Uadjet says: They tend not to be low poly, due to the curves, but we know serpents exist and finding ones already made and animated is easy.
Damola says: A serpent might be more fitting.
Uadjet says: But we've got a scorpion model that can be a windscorpion, for one thing.
Anysu says: scorpion would fit.
Uadjet says: There are praying mantis models too.
Uadjet says: Giant ones could be mounts. :)
Uadjet says: So could velnishi.
Uadjet says: But yes, we're at the end of the hour. Any last questions? Thoughts?
Zrak says: So many have devoted so much time to PS over the years. Thank you!
Anysu says: Velnishi mounts..be cool. More mount choices would be nice.
Uadjet nods. "The more mounts the better, and Talad liked the idea of Velnishi mounts."
Uadjet says: So, I think we can bring the meeting to a close! Thank you all for coming, and I'll see you at the next meeting in two weeks! Have fun playing!
Anysu says: Thanks for update!

Zarre says: Hi Uadjet
Uadjet says: Hi!
Uadjet says: So, if there are no immediate questions I'll start with a quick update on what's going on behind the scenes.
Gonger says: Fine!
Uadjet says: Talad did a stream some of you may have caught that covered some of the artwork that was done for homeworld stories.
Uadjet says: New characters will be getting a brief bit of history of the world they came from, and Talad commissioned the 2D art pieces for them.
Uadjet says: He's a bit fussier than I am, I suppose, but I think they look great!
Gonger says: That was the work for an Ukranian artist?
Uadjet says: I'm not sure. That could be from an earlier commission.
Uadjet says: The Nolthrir one was my favorite. Very colourful.
Anysu says: Thank you
Anysu says: Great timing!!!
>Anysu Atani salutes Uadjet with respect.
Uadjet says: That's stream number 768, if you want to see the preview for the artwork.
Gonger says: Will we get to 1,000 before PSU opens?
Uadjet says: I was wondering that about 20 minutes ago myself. :)
Uadjet says: Oh, we did cover the mailing systemat the last meeting, for anyone who missed it. I know that's something a lot of people have wanted, so I'll mention it again.
Uadjet says: Talad has worked it out so that players can send each other letters, tria, and items. That works even if they're offline, and the sender can cancel that transaction if the receiver hasn't accepted the tranfer yet.
Uadjet says: He then went on to work on random events. These aren't just random critter attacks - we get those in Hydlaa already - but can include things like mini quests, or special merchants.
Gonger says: I am playing Advocatus Diaboli (in an OOC sense) - Will this not make it TOO easy to help others with quests, for example?
Uadjet says: Well, the more experienced/wealthy player can probably travel to the recipient as quickly as the package will arrive, as a delay is built in for sending items. I'm not sure if it's really that much of an advantage.
Gonger says: Ah, I see. I will push back my Advocatus Diaboli personality until we could really try and test the mail system.
Uadjet says: And I'm changing Amdeneir's barrister to a Diaboli now. You get the credit.
Gonger says: Hehehe ;)
Uadjet says: There are a number of streams on random events, but the part I find most interesting is that events can be set up so that they only happen if players with certain skill levels are present. Thanks can get really complex when you can write encounters that include the ability to brew potions or repair ancient armor.
Anysu says: Can you choose not to have random events?
Uadjet says: You can ignore them.
Uadjet says: This isn't like in a game I won't name, where ignoring a random event can harm you. These are (hopefully) fun extras, not botting checks.
Uadjet says: Although if an ulbernaut shows up in Hydlaa then ignoring it may not lead to great results.
Anysu says: *nods*
Uadjet says: I don't think 'monster attacks' are really the focus of these random encounters. Players can kill things all over the place, so having a trepor show up randomly isn't special.
Zarre says: Very true
Uadjet says: Now if it's a talking ulbernaut...
Uadjet says: Talad has also done a lot of work getting the help files into PSU.
Uadjet says: IIrc, the game will load the help xml files on loading, so they'll be easy to update and add to over time.
Uadjet says: The help section in Legacy is a pretty good example of what can be done, I think.
Uadjet says: It's got the mechanics covered - although likely outdated - and some explanations of game concepts that can't really be covered in a quick NPC dialogue.
Uadjet says: Honestly, I haven't opened the Help window in over a decade, I'm sure, so I'm having to refresh my memory a bit.
Uadjet says: I can say that there are commaneds listed in the "GM Commands" section that I have never seen before, so that needs updating.
Uadjet says: Talad then worked on animations for a bit. He worked on Idle animations, I think, but due to visiting family I missed those streams.
Anysu says: Hope family liked your meal.
Uadjet says: The tart was quite rich, but they did like it. They preferred the much simple gazelles' horns (almost pastries).
Anysu says: *nods*
Thosor says: hehe
Uadjet says: I did take it easy on the orangle blossom water.
Thosor says: with flower?
Gonger says: Sounds all yummy.
Uadjet says: if you're like me, when you get a new ingredient you immediately open it and take a big whiff.
Gonger says: Sharing RL stories, I am free to leave my appartment again. Others lock themselves out, I locked myself IN!
Uadjet says: Some ingredients are a bit too potent for that. Vanilla, for one. Orange blossom water and I think rose water are similar.
Thosor says: don't do it in chemistry class.
Uadjet says: It's like openign a bottle of perfume and sticking your nose in it.
Anysu smiles
Anysu says: Sorry for sending meet into off topic. Any other psu news?
Uadjet says: Let me check my list...
Gonger says: Nothing wrong with going a bit off-topic if it is fun. My facebook friends had a good laugh on me... ;-)
Uadjet says: Thank Yliakum for Notepad++. I just keep it open at all times with 8 or so documents open so I can jot things down.
Uadjet says: Okay, so at the moment Talad is streaming about the compendium. Specifically, the monster section.
Uadjet says: The ability to examine creatures is based on Empathy, so those with greater Empathy can examine more creatures. I'm guessing it's limited by creature complexity, and not just creature power.
Zarre says: Care to elplain, Gonger? :D
Uadjet says: Thosor?
Thosor says: There still is no auto chat scroll or tabs indicating change? such as no illuminated tabs to show an updated chat in group, main,
Uadjet says: Ah, I think he's referring to the 'key' incident.
Thosor says: Hard to play when another person is with you,
Thosor says: and can't chat while riding, don't know if this is in the flyspray.
Thosor says: And I hope Gonger didn't have a large dog wanting to go out.
Gonger says: Zarre, when unlocking my appartment door to leave, the key snapped and blocked the lock...
Uadjet says: Cant' chat while riding? Ah. That could be an issue.
Zarre says: Yikes! Poor you.
Gonger says: No, no large dog waiting...
Zarre says: haha.. ok.. lucky you!
Anysu says: Now what Gonger said, makes sense after hearing about key.
Gonger says: I now have a new and more modern lock with a stronger key... and I have facebook friends holding their stomachs.
Thosor shutters ,facebook
Zarre says: ^ ^
Uadjet says: I have very loudly declared that there is no reason for lockpicks in games to break, as they're not much thinner than the keys. Then Gonger goes and proves me wrong!
Zarre laugh
Gonger chuckles softly.
Anysu says: Can you buy lock picks in game?
Thosor says: A large boot
Uadjet says: Okay, I may have an idea about why you can't chat on a mount. The engine identifies the player/mount combination as being the mount with the player attached. That could prevent the game from displaying /say and other commands that have an origin point from working.
Thosor says: yes
Uadjet says: You can't but them in game now, but once there's a lockpicking minigame with a visible lock pick one might be added.
Thosor says: Have to dismount to talk while exploring,
>Anysu Atani nods at Uadjet.
Gova says: Lockpicks? Hammer + Chisel is all you need.
Thosor says: So no way to tell what your friend is doing, when out of sight.
Uadjet says: Tells should still work, though I haven't tested it.
Uadjet says: Odd.
Thosor says: Will our lock skills we have now carry over?
Uadjet says: Mounts are buggy so I haven't really used them.
Uadjet says: All skills get copied over.
Uadjet says: As do items.
Uadjet says: Quest completion.
Thosor says: And the now tab lighting and auto scroll don't let you know anything else unless you keep selecting them.
Uadjet says: Factions (though they're changing, so some will have new names).
Thosor says: I haven't checked flyspray recently, but I think Damola did.
Gonger says: Lockpicks are more subtle than hammer + chisel. Sometimes you want to be silent.
Gova says: I'm a blacksmith. We like to get loud!
Thosor says: Use the open window nearby.
Gonger says: What about a thief, Gova? The do not.
Gonger says: *They
>Anysu Atani dropped an Anysu's Lucky Tools.
Anysu says: I have that covered in game now
>Anysu Atani raises an arm and points towards Anysu's Lucky Tools.
Uadjet says: There has also been talk about tribes, and how they're being set up. Groups of critters won't just wander, but do things like gather resources. The hostile ones could get more dangerous over time, unless players do something about it.
Thosor says: Isn't there a legacy quest about roof hopping and going through a window? was long ago.
Gova says: I don't want my stuff stolen, so the louder they are the better.
Zarre says: Yes there was, Thosor.
Gova says: @Thosor: There is. I love that bit.
Thosor quiets down, sorry.
Anysu says: Picks for locks.
Uadjet says: Ah, and the hand-held exterior window opener.
>Anysu Atani raises an arm and points towards Anysu's Lucky Tools.
Uadjet says: Talad was working on idle animations, so maybe he did a pick for noses. :D
Anysu says: Anyway, anything else Uadjet?
Uadjet says: I think that's it.
Anysu says: lol
Thosor says: where?
Anysu says: lock oicks in front of Uadjet
Anysu says: *Lockpicks*
Gonger says: Ah, very clever.
>Anysu Atani raises an arm and points towards Anysu's Lucky Tools.
Gonger says: You had them renamed.
Thosor says: oh, interesting
Anysu says: Yup thanks to the engraver
Gonger says: Great idea, Anysu.
Anysu says: Thanks. It makes opening locked chest fun with an rp element.
Uadjet says: I've covered everything I wanted to, and Anysu's lockpicks have become the center of attention, so I think we can bring the meeting to a close. Thank you all for comine, and I'll see you at the next Q&A in three weeks!
Uadjet says: Oh, and there's a lockpicking animation somewhere. Zwei mentioned it.
Thosor says: guard 'nauts trained to hear lock picking?
Anysu grins
>Anysu Atani grins at Anysu's Lucky Tools impishly.
Anysu says: Thank you, Uadjet for update
Thosor says: ok, i'll catch up on flyspray
Zarre says: Thanks, Uadjet
>Anysu Atani picked up an Anysu's Lucky Tools
>Thosor Riereri grabs hold of Anysu's Small Table and begins to dance.
Anysu says: Maybe I'll see if I have any treasure chest stored. Liked to go pick some lock now,
Anysu says: lol
Thosor says: heehee
>Gova Liernan salutes Anysu's Small Table with respect.
>Anysu Atani salutes Uadjet with respect.
>Anysu Atani grins at Anysu's Small Table impishly.
>Thosor Riereri looks at Uadjet and panics..!
>Anysu Atani waves at Anysu's Small Table
Anysu laughs
Anysu says: Okay bye!
>Thosor Riereri waves at Anysu Atani
>Anysu Atani waves at Small Table

Uadjet says: Hello and welcome to the Developer's Q&A! This is an out-of-character meeting where you can hear about the development of the game and ask the Dev and GM teams any questions you might have. If you do have any questions, please line up at the lecterns in front of the stage.
>Migg Ellorean salutes Uadjet with respect.
Migg says: :D
Anysu says: Thanks Uadjet
Uadjet says: I set the duration on that to 30 seconds, so probably a bit long....
Anysu says: Was funny.
Uadjet says: Gonger?
Gonger says: Greetings. Any ideas when Talad plans for Unreal version to go live? Methinks he should simply fix himself a date, otherwise he will keep adding this, and that, and then a further idea pops into his mind...
Lytoza smiles, "Well it is his game, isn't it?"
Uadjet says: I don't have a specific date. He says the Unreal version is mostly working as it should, and as you mentioned it's the extra stuff and changes that are yet to be completed.
Uadjet says: He might want to get the faction rework finished first, before players start doing quests in PSU.
Gonger says: I may be wrong, but at least some people seem to become quite unpatient by now.
Gonger says: Ok, I guess it is "Wait and See", then...
Lytoza says: ...soon(tm)
Migg says: I would like to see a control scheme more resembling the one here, before the move, but I don't know if that's possible, or if others agree
Migg says: I find it is harder to control my character in PSU, but that may just be muscle memory, or plain ignorance of the controls
Migg says: I mostly miss the ability to stop a run with a W :)
Uadjet says: It does take some adjusting.
Uadjet says: Ah, yes. Maybe that could be added.
Migg says: hmm, wonder when I picked these up...
Uadjet says: Okay, so I'll give you an update on what's been going on behind the scenes for the last few weeks.
Uadjet says: Version 0.7.21 of PSU is now out! It requires a fresh install, not an update from the launcher.
Uadjet says: Summarizing from the release notes, it has fixed swimming, the waypoint updates, the compass (which works!), new landscaping, and tons of fixes.
Uadjet says: But most of Talad's work in the last few weeks has been on getting a mail system up and working that players can use ingame.
Gonger says: Compass and mail system were very high on the wishlists, methinks.
Migg says: no more guildhouse mailboxes!
Damola says: A mail system? Interesting.
Damola says: How does it work?
Anysu says: If noone has houses how get mail?
Migg says: Loxi would be out of a job if she were still around
Damola says: Could be a task for the storage guys? Or we have post office people in each village.
Uadjet says: The last dozen streams cover it fairly well, bu tit allows players to send each other messages even if the recipient is offline. It also allows the sending of items.
Migg says: Oh, a parcel delivery system too!
Anysu says: And I sure not giving account info to get items,
Migg says: are they delivered by groffel?
Migg says: shouldd be in-game mail Anysu
Uadjet says: You go through an NPC. For items, it's like a trade menu in that you move items into the mail window.
Uadjet says: You do have to pay to send items.
Uadjet says: And there is a delivery time. You can pay extra to get items sent faster.
Migg says: Are there stamps?
Uadjet says: No stamps, to my knowledge. :)
Migg says: pity, we won't be getting any stamp collectors in PS
Anysu says: But if not online, are items held. How can be sure noone else gets you items or mail?
Uadjet says: They can't intercept things.
Uadjet says: Items are placed into an 'in transit" category, until the person they are sent to picks them up.
Migg says: And how is the recipient notified?
Uadjet says: They'll stay that way until the right person gets them, though the sender can cancel the transaction before it's completed.
Anysu says: How can you verify when picked up the one picking up is right person?
Damola says: Really nice!
Migg says: should be like your bank Anysu
Damola says: Sounds like the mail system needs extra NPC or existing NPC to take over that task.
Damola says: But I like it that way. So it requires some player interaction.
Uadjet says: Yes, you check wtih the appropriate NPC and they'll only give you items/mail sent to you.
Damola says: And is not just automatic.
Migg says: I'd expect everyone offering storage would also offer mail, like they offer banking?
Damola says: Unless you bribe them!
Damola chuckles "Hahaha"
Uadjet says: In the vids Talad is using Krestal, but a postmaster would be a useful NPC to have.
Damola says: Ah the Pterosaur handlers could also be a good option.
Damola says: Or really new NPCs
Damola ponders of ways to intercept mail for GMs
Uadjet says: I don't know if it would be storage NPCs. I've added a mail NPC (courier) to Amdeneir. Well, two. I'm guessing only one will be approved.
Damola grins
Migg says: Ah, so Harnquist will not delivering any mail with black fingerprints on the envelope
Uadjet says: I wouldn't think so.
Anysu ponders ways mail could be misused.
Damola says: Two in competition would be funny, at first at least. Then you never know who has your mail and probably need to check both. But would become boring after time, so yeah, one per city makes more sense
Uadjet says: Well, I was thinking a long distance courier, and a younger NPC that delivered local messages.
Migg says: or a mail delivery service, and a separate parcel delivery?
Migg says: like mail and courier
Damola says: I see, Uadjet.
Damola says: As for switch to PSUnreal, Thosor and I encountered a bug that the chat does not automatically scroll in PSUnreal if you send a message and its already at the bottom.
Uadjet says: That's possible, though with all the work Talad's already done I don't think I want to try and make it more complicated for him. :)
Damola says: I think that is one thing that should be fixed before release, dunno whether someone already reported it though, I did not yet.
Damola says: I'd say start out simple first… adjustments to the mail system can still be made.
Uadjet says: Well, the mail is mostly finished. The chat scrolling is an issue, though.
Uadjet says: That chat window really does need to be running smoothly, or we'll have tons of problems. I'll poke around in PSU with the chat box and see what needs fixing.
Uadjet says: I think we've been spoiled by the chat window here in Legacy. It really is quite versatile.
Migg says: it is also picky in where you need to click to be able to move the chat window
Migg says: idk if that has been fixed though
Damola says: Yeah, legacy PS has its issues, but the chat window generally works quite well.
Uadjet says: I was having trouble with that, but only with new characters that had just gone through the Dryken Plane. This happens with older characters as well?
Migg says: moving the window? it happens to Migg
Migg says: iirc
Uadjet says: I'll check that as well. Maybe I just got used to the correct plag to use to drag and forgot how finicky it is. :)
Migg says: you need to drag the label
Damola says: moving windows in PSUnreal in general is a bit finicky.
Migg says: another thing is icon scaling, lowering the resolution makes the interface smaller
Damola says: I often missed the right place to grab for move.
Migg says: I like how you can scale the toolbar here, and how everything can be displayed inn one row
Damola says: Yeah, I dislike the recent switch to three separate toolbars in PSUnreal.
Damola says: My screen is wide enough to handle the complete toolbar and I would like an option to turn that split off again. I bet I will report an enhancement request regarding this.
Migg says: could be selectable, like you can have disserent toolbar arrangements here
Migg says: *different
Uadjet says: I know what you mean. The icons are pretty small, but I think talad's trying to keep them off the top center of the screen so target into can be there.
Uadjet says: Maybe it could be displayed as three rows?
Damola says: I had no issue with it being in one row. But I bet different people may like different layouts.
Migg says: like the shortcut bar here?
Migg says: I would love having it scalable
Migg says: like it is here
Damola says: That would be nice.
Migg says: then you can chose how big the icons will be, and if you could chose a layout too that would be awesome
Anysu says: I like to be able to hide tool bar as option.
Migg says: I'd rather have one row
Uadjet says: I don't think making it scalable is too hard, so it's possible.
Migg says: yes, you can hide it here and just have the orb
Damola says: For example with a wide screen even a vertical layout could make sense, so you can stuff it at one side of the scren
Migg says: rater fond of my current layout. I don't think theming would be high on the priority list, but could be a way out of such issues
Lytoza says: Would be ideal for players who need larger icons / fonts in order to play PS.
Uadjet says: Being able to hide it would be nice. I think making it possible to do custom arrangements would take a lot of work, but a little more flexibility should be doable.
Uadjet says: When I looked into scalable windows I think the contents were scaled as well, but I'll have to check.
Migg says: offering a few selectable options would be nice, like a tree-row layout, a one-row layout and and a simplified layout with a subset of the icoons
Damola says: Yeah, I'd start out with a few options, but with a complete arrangeability of everything
Migg says: and making it scalable and collapsible / hideable would fill all my requirements :D
Anysu nods at Migg
Uadjet says: I'll pass that along. Okay, good meeting!
Anysu grins "Actually not having voice not text.. be rather nice...
Damola says: Okay, thank you.
Damola says: Good meeting.
Anysu says: Having voice not text
Anysu facepaws
Uadjet says: We're past the hour now, and I'm falling asleep at the keyboard, so I think we'll bring things to a close. Thank you all for coming, and I'll see you all at the next meeting in two weeks!
Migg says: just one last question please. The DarkStars competition caused some interesst among old players but hasn't been updated in a while. Any news?

Uadjet says: Hello and welcome to the Developer's Q&A! This is an out-of-character meeting where you can hear about the development of the game and ask the Dev and GM teams any questions you might have. If you do have any questions, please line up at the lecterns in front of the stage.
Uadjet says: So, it's a small meeting today... and Gonger just announced it on Discord for me. Maybe that will bring in a person or two.
Uadjet says: But I'll start out giving you an update on what's been going on behind the scenes.
>Anysu Atani listens intently to Uadjet.
Uadjet says: Last meeting I told you that Talad had been working on Way Points, which are what NPCs use to find their way around instead of running directly towards their target and getting stuck on buildings or landscape.
Uadjet says: To Talad's great relief, he's got the Waypoints done - at least for now - so NPCs should be able to get around more smoothly.
Gonger says: Great!
Uadjet says: There are still a few places where NPCs can get in a pileup. I think they're colliding with each other, and then stopping their movement. But that can be fixed.
Uadjet says: Talad then starting working on infravision and nightvision, so those should be available in PSU in the next update.
Uadjet says: He then moved on to swimming, and now that's mostly working. Before you couldn't go up and down because we just don't have movement keys assigned to that type of movement, but he's got that running fairly well. He also smoothed out the stream in Delver so that the bed isn't so jagged.
Uadjet says: Oh, and he also went around and fixed some of the odd landscaping. No pits from which we cannot escape.
Uadjet says: Well, from which you cannot escape.
Uadjet flies away.
Uadjet says: And he was working on... not lighting in general, but the day/night cycle and how well lit things are at various times.
Uadjet says: I know Tua is working on the faction system, which is quite a bit deeper and more detailed than the system here in Legacy.
Uadjet says: I spent the last week working on populating Amdeneir, and currently have more-than-will-ever-be-approved NPCs for the city and the surrounding area.
Uadjet says: It's mostly just name/role/species/gender/ stuff for now, but I've got quite a few notes for quests as well. I'm anticipating having to defend the existence of each NPC before it's added to the game - and that's a good idea - which is helping me define them as characters, not just 'person standing over there".
Uadjet says: Not every NPC can go in. Some would be inside the University, and there currently is no 'inside the university', so they can be put into storage for later.
Uadjet says: I do intend to fiercely defend some NPCs, though. I love the idea of a limner (illustrator/illuminator for books)
Gonger says: The stored NPCs... :)
Uadjet says: We'll make up a little dollhouse for them. It'll be nice.
Uadjet says: But one of two NPCs could be outside the University, but having 11 staff plus students would be a bit much.
Uadjet says: And I think I'll be able to add more NPCs total if I delay some. :D
Uadjet says: Delver is much the same, just on a smaller scale. It's more families, whereas Amdeneir is a mix of family groups and individuals with no relatives that players can interact with.
Uadjet says: Amdeneir is much more diverse. I'm trying to add at least 5 or 6 or each race.
Gonger says: We should - again! - encore players to create NPCs. Maybe put an example in the forums to show how much or how little effort one NPC is.
Gonger says: *encourage (encore would be French for "again" in this context)
Uadjet says: I can do that. It's not too hard, really. Nobody has started populating Homestead, to my knowledge.
Uadjet says: 'Encore' could also mean within the core, if one is being somewhat silly with the language. Bring players into the core?
Uadjet says: But Homestead is a place that Talad does want populated. I'll get some screenshots of the place and the surroundings.
Gonger says: I think in French they don't say core, rather coeur (oe ligature which I cannot type here), or noyau (the Académie Française keeps fighting a lost fight to use French terminology instead of English)
Gonger says: French people can be funny with their language...
Uadjet says: And yet thoroughly humorless about it.
Uadjet says: But they gave the world the croquembouche, so I won't tease them too much about it. :)
Uadjet says: So that's what has been going on behind the scenes. Any questions? Thoughts?
Gonger says: Croquembouche? Never heard that one.
Gonger says: Ah, it's some food
Uadjet says: I may have mutilated the spelling, but it's a tower of cream pulls and caramel, decorated with chopped nuts
Uadjet says: It's very decadent.
Gonger says: No, it's quite correct, either croquembouche, or croque-en-bouche (the latter making more sense, bouche meaning mouth)
Uadjet says: Talad did say he wants to focus for now on things that would be fun for players. Any suggestions?
Gonger says: A gaming house? A sports center? A bro... no, not that...
Uadjet says: Now you made me want to play Arcanum again. Someone mentioned it a week or two ago, and now it keeps popping into my head.
Gonger says: Arcanum?
Uadjet says: But a gaming house would be fun, and KNM had one outside Gug. Hmm.
Gonger says: I think we bored the others to sleep with our talk on French words...
Anysu says: Finding hidden spots, that are not in a dungeon but a city.
Uadjet says: It's an older game. Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura.
Anysu says: Or even hidden in wilds.
Uadjet says: Inside Oja may be better. I do love the warrens where KNM used to be.
Uadjet says: And for sports... Old maps do show a Pterosaur Arena. Hmm.
Uadjet says: But we're now past the house, and I need to run out and get sour cream and dill for the Ukranian Borscht I made. So have fun playing, and I'll see you at the next meeting in two weeks!
Anysu says: Hidden spots could be like geocaching. Players find them and take items and leave an item.
Gonger says: I had some vague ideas about an American Football version for teams with 3 or 4 players... but I have other projects in PS context with priority.
Anysu says: Repeating the hidden thing since noone caught it first time wrote it?
Uadjet says: The geocaching sounds fun, but also like a player-run thing. But hidden spots and secrets are always fun.
Anysu says: Yes just hidden spots be cool
Gonger says: We still need books that can be fixed to a spot, but still be written in.
Uadjet says: I think that's a large part of what Talad worked on with regard to spontaneous NPC mini-events. Like a bard showing up in a tavern, or a rogue stealing from a merchant and then running off.
Anysu says: and fun and nice if they aren't just in dungeons
Uadjet says: Oh, Talad did find an addon for unreal that is good for drawing and painting.
Anysu says: nice
Uadjet says: So if you have ideas for little random events or hidden spots, let us know!
Anysu says: okay
Anysu says: Given Anysu backround maybe a random circus pops up with things to see.
Gonger says: Circus? Could be fun
Uadjet says: A random circus? Maybe a performer or two. A travelling troupe would be a blast, but a lot of work.
Anysu says: Yup
Anysu says: Just need a performer or two. But be alot for an npc to do probably.
Uadjet says: It would be nice if our existing performers actually did perform.
Anysu says: That to.
Anysu says: But we ar over time. Meeting over?
Uadjet says: Well, I think we'll bring the meeting to a close. If you like circus performers, there are free animations that work with unreal at mixamo.com. There could be some there that are useful for a circus.
Anysu says: Cool
Gonger says: Thank you for the updates.
Anysu says: Thank you Uadjet
>Anysu Atani salutes Uadjet with respect.
Gonger says: Good night
Uadjet says: See you all at the next meeting in two weeks!

>Haviland Tenouri winks at Gonger Xaraha playfully.
Damola says: its quite easy to find once you find that there is another way to Ojaveda that leads directly to Raurim
Haviland says: ah, raurim is the vilage near oja?
Damola says: However at least in 0.7.19 it was not fully connected to the other path way and the gate at the end of the way to Oja was still closed.
Damola says: No, its quite a distance. Uadjet gave another tip to reach it:
Damola says: Just go river near gobble village past gobble village and find it free flow.
Haviland says: yeah, that's the same
Haviland says: there's a shortcut from oja to the village
>Haviland Tenouri listens intently to Uadjet.
Damola says: I found the path way to between Oja and Raurim by going from Raurim. I found Raurim through Uadjet's river approach.
Uadjet says: So, as you likely know, PSU 0.7.20 has been released!
Damola says: And its frigging awesome.
>Haviland Tenouri nods at Damola Etedi.
Uadjet says: It is!
Damola says: Looking forward to PSUnreal event next week before regular event.
Damola says: ^ Reminder for Uadjet to advertise about it. :)
Migg says: Oh, a PSU event!
Migg says: Hope I'm not lost by then :D
Haviland says: it's on the calendar
Migg says: PSU is huge!
Uadjet says: A lot of work has gone into the latest release, so I hope you all like it.
>Thosor Riereri tries to cover a yawn from Gonger Xaraha.
Migg loooks at his hand
Uadjet says: Talad's done a lot of terraforming, and the trees around Gug in particular are quite nice. That's just my opinion, of course, but I spent some time watching them swap in the breeze in the last few days.
Migg says: thought I'd lost it
Damola says: Not completely positive about it, but might be that Damola sitting on mount in wrong direction bug is solved with 0.7.20. But as it does not happen all the time can't say for sure yet.
Damola says: Yeah trees changed. More regional now.
Damola says: And a lot more variety.
Migg says: There was a hole in the walls of the Winch area
Migg says: you could passs under them
Damola grins "Everyone has a staff, so now Damola has, too."
Migg says: idk if that is among the fixes
Uadjet says: A new section of Oja is now open for people to explore.
Haviland says: at least I've found fewer holes in the ground compared to legacy :p
Damola says: Yeah, posted a few teaser screenshots at the forum.
Damola looks worriedly to Haviland "Will there be no inofficial places anymore?"
Uadjet says: And as previously mentioned by you lot, the Dermorian town of Raurim has appeared on the Irifon River.
Damola then grins "I bet there will still be some. Devs can't find everything."
Haviland says: I just found one in amdeneir today. Looking at this big city from beneath is impressive
Uadjet says: I was just in Amdeneir today, and there are still places where the map needs a bit of touching up.
Damola says: Yeah, Amdenair changed and improved the most of all the cities, I'd say. But Oja is impressive as well.
Uadjet says: There is now a compass available for players.
Uadjet says: Once you have it, you hold it in your hand to use it.
Haviland says: yay, the compass is great
Damola says: Sometimes it would be lovely to report a bug with position and viewing angle directly from within PSUnreal. Might be an interesting feature once PSUnreal is live. Ideally with a way to preview the text and edit the text being sent.
Migg cheerss for the compass
Uadjet says: Getting location is easy enough with /pos, but viewing angle is trickier.
Damola says: Yeah, I bought some compasses. However not sure how to use it yet. Need to learn about the direction and see whether there is a map somewhere.
Damola says: Yeah, found that /pos works in PSUnreal meanwhile.
Migg says: so this begs the question, where does the compass point at?
Damola says: It for sure has interesting symbols on it. Now the usual North, South, West, East kind of thing.
Uadjet says: The compass points "North", so we do have one.
>Anysu Atani salutes Uadjet with respect.
Damola says: Yeah, but the symbols are different.
Uadjet says: Unless I missed something, if you're in Hydlaa it'll point in the direction of BD.
>Anysu Atani grins at Uadjet impishly.
Anysu says: Thanks
Damola says: I expect some lore to go with it.
Damola says: As far as releasenotes go there will be a quest to obtain it.
Haviland says: talad mentioned there will be a quest to get the compass
Uadjet says: Yes, but for now you can buy it in Oja.
Damola says: Yeah, right now you can just buy it from Toda.
Damola says: (But as I expect database will be synced one last time before the final switch to PS, I expect all bought compasses to be lost again, so one still needs to do the quest to obtain it)
Damola says: *PSUnreal that is.
Migg says: aren't they synced every new downloadable release?
Uadjet says: Yes. The things your characters do in PSU now arent' kept long term. Each new release the database is copied over and any changes in PSU are overwritten.
Damola says: Not sure, Migg. But seems like it. I see that position of char gets resetted every now and then.
Damola says: Ah, Uadjet clarified.
Migg says: Teaches people material possessions are temporal
Haviland says: buy some torches before you explore PSU :-)
Migg says: ah, to feed your pets?
Damola says: Yeah, I am not yet quite happy with the rendering of Magic Light. It does not light very much, is my impression.
Uadjet says: Oh, and there are new pet abilities in the pet window, though I don't think they're working yet. They'll give you an idea of what's to come, though.
Migg says: It was among the things changed
Migg says: magic light
Uadjet says: The torch certainly illuminates a lot.
Haviland says: at least torches make sense now
Migg says: idk, would this staff illuminate like a torch?
Anysu says: Never used torches in Legacy here
Haviland says: I wish it does
Migg says: or is the staff effects not ported yet?
Uadjet says: I don't know, actually. I don't think the visual effects of the staves are working in PSU. They weren't the last time I checked.
Damola says: Yeah, Migg, but still not lighting enough IMHO. Will try torch.
Uadjet says: Talad's also done some work on music, so don't think that's been forgotten!
Uadjet says: Oh, I'm referring to music that players can play.
Damola says: Situation in PSUnreal with database copy on each release gives your char freedom to do all kind of crazy stuff without having to face long term consequences :). However I decided that Damola remembers what she experiences during GM events in PSUnreal.
Uadjet says: Not the background music.
Migg says: Yay!
Damola says: Otherwise I would need to remember where each event has been.
Uadjet says: I couldn't remember that, and I ran them!
Damola says: It is amazing Uadjet, that you so far did not mix different story lines in events by accident!
Damola says: Any other news regarding PSUnreal?
Uadjet says: Let's see... Foliage redone, map fixes, Raurim, new Dsar in Oja, the compass, bugfixing...
Damola says: Its a lot already.
Uadjet says: I think I mentioned all of that. Or someone else did so. :)
Damola says: Anything new since 0.7.20?
Damola says: Otherwise any Q?
Uadjet says: Right now I'm working on populating the town of Delving (farming town) and the new sections of Amdeneir.
Uadjet says: I'm doing it by family units before I start placing NPCs, so not every NPC needs their own home and and can mark off houses as being owned by NPCs right away.
Uadjet says: Question, Damola?
Damola says: Tried swimming there again. Works nicely enough, but do not know how to actually stay above water. Seems Damola prefers to dive.
Damola nods
Damola says: About compass, are there any plans for a kind of mapping feature? I think it would be good to link it to some map drawing skill and quest chain.
Uadjet says: Ah, swimming is still being worked on. It's better, but up and down movement is still in need of improvement.
Damola says: And you'd need to equip compass, ink and paper in order to draw map.
Uadjet says: I don't know about that. How much detail would the map have?
Damola finds that is is areally easily to get lost in PSUnreal
Damola says: The landscape is vast!
Uadjet says: It's possible to make a basic map of the game world including basic things like bodies of water, cities, and roads. Stalagmites and mountains too, I think. That could be used as the result of the mapping feating. I don't know how hard it would be to make, though.
Damola says: Probably not too much, but would be nice if char could draw in cities and such… or char could buy map of an area and together with compass and skill will get a marking on where they are.
Damola says: Well, can certainly be done after final switch to PSUnreal. But I think would be nice to have. Not as automatic as in other games, but embedded in lore and player has to do something for it.
Damola says: Anyone found themselves running around aimlessly in PSUnreal to find something? I certainly did.
Haviland says: yeah, there are many roads leading to nowhere. Stilll some work to do.
Haviland says: But with a compass you can at least run in the right direction
Haviland says: finding amdeneir by foot is an adventure
Haviland says: with beautiful sights, though
Haviland says: and a ballon hanging in the sky ;)
Damola says: Yeah, I often enough followed roads that suddenly disappeared.
Uadjet says: I know what you mean. I left Hydlaa to go to Amdeneir and found myself at the Irifon River. By Raurim. I was off by 90 degrees adn didn't notice.
Damola says: Ah, yeah, I found that baloon as well.
Damola says: Well there is certainly a job opportunity for a travel guide. Especially for new players we hopefully get once we are playing on PSUnreal.
Migg says: time to resurrect the traveler's guuild?
Haviland says: I definitly need a tour guide for PSU :-)
Damola says: Auto rotate bug once again.
Damola does not like to be married to marble bench.
Uadjet says: I think road signs marking the paths to major locations (cities, towns, forts, etc) are likely the easiest solution.
Damola likes it up here.
Uadjet says: Any other questions?
Damola says: Not bad!
Damola grins
Uadjet says: If not, I think I'll bring the meeting to a close early so that I can attend to some RL stuff.
Damola says: No Q left for me.
Haviland says: thank you for reporting
Haviland says: good night everyone
Uadjet says: In that case, we'll bring the meeting to a close. Thank you all for coming, and I'll see you again at the next meeting in two weeks. And don't forget the Unreal event next week, two hours earlier than the standard event time!
Thosor says: see you later there
Damola says: See you!
Damola says: Good night everyone!
Migg says: See you and thanks for thhe updates!

Uadjet says: Hello and welcome to the Developer's Q&A! This is an out-of-character meeting where you can hear about the development of the game and ask the Dev and GM teams any questions you might have. If you do have any questions, please line up at the lecterns in front of the stage.
Uadjet says: If there are no immediate questions, I'll start with what's going on behind the scenes.
Uadjet says: Since the new release of 7.19, Talad's mainly been doing bugfixing.
Damola says: Cool, that is also really important.
Holesod says: yeah
Uadjet says: He's getting a lot done, including fixing the collision errors that were preventing entry into the Laanx Dungeon, fixes for mounts, fixed special attacks, etc.
Migg says: I filed some bugs as petitions in PSU
Uadjet says: Ah, okay. I'll take a look at those.
Uadjet says: I did a little running around in PSU, and I can confirm that Raurim - the Dermorian tree village - Is in. It's not done, but it'll give you a taste of what's to come.
Holesod says: oooh that sounds fascinating
Migg says: PSU is huge, it is not easy to find all the places
>Holesod Sacerey nods at Migg Ellorean.
Migg says: I guess a compass would come in handy
Holesod says: yeah I like that idea
Uadjet says: For Raurim, it's on the Irifon River. From Hydlaa, just to to the river and turn left.
Migg says: Near the gobble village?
Uadjet says: Well past that.
Migg says: you did an event there :D
Uadjet says: I teleported to Jashoky and ran through the sky to get there, and it took a while.
Uadjet says: Yup!
Uadjet says: Treehouses are always fun!
Migg says: yes!
Holesod says: was somewhat reminded about the Channelwood age from Myst when I heard tree village
Uadjet says: Currently, it's one huge tree and surrounding buildings on the ground, but that could change.
Holesod says: that makes sense
Holesod says: so almost like a sacred tree?
Holesod says: or a monument?
Uadjet says: I don't know about sacred, but there are houses built in the branches.
Holesod says: oooh I see
Uadjet says: I didn't count how many, but there are a few huts up there.
Damola says: Cool, got to visit it.
Holesod says: indeed
Uadjet says: I haven't started making NPC's for it yet as I don't know how big it'll eventually be, but I'm thinking Dermorian, with some Klyros (they'd like treehouses), Nolthri (it's a river junction), and misc. others.
Migg says: I would say Stonehammers wouldn't like the heights, and would be prohibited from digging up the roots, but a few could still be smiths and such
Holesod says: heh I was thinking the same thing Migg
Uadjet says: There's going to be a Stonehammer town down the river from there.
Holesod says: safely on the ground I assume
Damola says: Maybe even into some rocks.
Holesod says: like a rock hovel?
Gonger says: Moria-like?
Uadjet says: Right by the edge, actually. If you're familiar with the area, the Irifon splits into to just a short distance before it goes over the edge. The resulting island has a ground level section, and a tall flat-topped hill. That is (I think) where Nauvhim is going.
Damola says: Well at least one Stonehammer city in lore is built quite deeply into a mountain, isn't it?
Gonger says: Oh, Tuathanach is online.
Uadjet says: Delving is underground, except for the surface village which is mainly there for farming and interacting with the other races.
Uadjet says: Redstone is in the Stone Labyrinths...
Damola says: Yeah, I thought about Delving.
Uadjet says: And the Pillars of Felim is build into the outer wall of the second level . I think.
Damola says: Haha, I give my laptop. Running PSUnreal concurrently. :)
Uadjet says: I'm not sure that's where the Pillars of Felim are. Maybe I just built that image in my own mind. :)
Uadjet says: Oh! I found it! "The Stonebreaker clan settled on the second level and began carving a city into the wall. The city was called Pillars of Felim. Felim in their language means Joy."
Uadjet says: And from the sounds of things in the Dev channel, Tua is doing fixes right now so may be coming in and out. :)
Migg wonders how Uadjet manages to fit all the books of Yliakum in his pockets
Damola says: Uadjet has fit quite some lore into his mind.
Uadjet says: I did run a search through the game's books, but the info was actually on the main page for the Stonehammer race on Planeshift.it. Who'd think to look there? ;)
Uadjet says: But as mentioned, work is underway with adding NPC's to the new areas. There's someone else working on Delver with me (don't know their in-game name), and they're quite good. Really imaginative. I'm also re-rewriting the lockpicking quests, now that I've found more tutorials on lockpicking. I want to incorporate that info into the quest.
Uadjet says: And yes, I'm sure I'm now on a law enforcement watchlist due to search for lockpicking info.
Holesod says: uh oh
Migg says: hehe was this SF small story that talked about a future where customs entered your name and saw what search results Google would suggest for you
Gonger says: We will send you books and music to prison. And food.
Uadjet says: I even searched for different types of lockpicks. I'm not sure if the FBI would take "I only wanted the images" as an excuse.
Holesod says: hmm
Holesod says: why not look up hairpins?
Migg says: medieval locks should have been a lot easier to pick
Uadjet says: I was also looking up picks for warded locks, which are easier to pick.
Holesod says: ahh ok
Damola looks concerned and looks to Gonger "Shall be be concerned about the safety of our GM?"
Damola chuckles
Uadjet says: Pin & Tumbler locks are what the world has now. They're more advanced, but they've been around in some form for thousands of years.
Holesod looks at Damola, "I concur"
Uadjet says: Ancient Egypy had them, though in simpler form.
Uadjet says: And we do have clever Lemurs and Stonehammers running around.
Uadjet says: I mean... The Winch.
Uadjet says: If they can build that...
Holesod says: hmm
Holesod says: any of them with good hearing? I think that might be something to consider too as part of an inate ability
Damola says: Well from what I read recently, I concur that it is not completely certain on how advanced past civilizations on this Earth have been. Some might have been quite a bit more advanced than we think.
Holesod says: hearing and dexterity I think...
Migg says: I thought they would generally build mechanisms bigger, hadn't actually researched things
Migg says: Good thing is I am only looking for locks :D
Uadjet says: So those two quests are being redone. I'm going to return to work on the 3D lock model after. With luck, I'll be able to turn that into a minigame for lockpicking. I'll probably need help though, given that the first step for me will be Googling "How to create minigames in Unreal"
Migg says: Speaking of minigames, is the minigame in the tavern in Oja going to be ported?
Uadjet says: Yup.
Uadjet says: I'll have to check to see if it's working yet, but I don't think it is.
Holesod says: seems like I will have to take a look at that tavern again Migg haha
Holesod says: never noticed it before
Migg says: you need two to play that one
Holesod says: ohh
Holesod says: wait yes I have played it before
Holesod says: at the tables right?
Migg says: yes
Uadjet says: So, any questions?
Damola says: There could be a day in PSUnreal again, I run around in circles in that darkness there
Damola says: No Q
Holesod says: everything seemed straightforward to me
Uadjet says: Okay. In that case we can bring the meeting to a close. Thank you all for coming, and I'll see you at the next meeting in two weeks!
Gonger says: Not in Three weeks only?
Uadjet says: Three weeks.
Uadjet says: You're correct.
Gonger says: Great minds think alike.
Uadjet says: I was just checking that. :)
Damola says: Okay… thanks for meeting and update!
Migg says: Thank you for the updates and everything!
Migg says: Good night!

Uadjet says: Hello and welcome to the Developer's Q&A! This is an out-of-character meeting where you can hear about the development of the game and ask the Dev and GM teams any questions you might have. If you do have any questions, please line up at the lecterns in front of the stage.
Damola says: No Q from my side.
Gonger says: Any idea when PSU will go live?
Gonger says: Ok, wrong question. Everybody is petrified! :)
Uadjet says: No clue, but we're due another PSU release soon.
Damola says: Haha, the magic question.
Uadjet says: Nah, just kra.
Damola says: But yeah, that would be the next Q, when 0.7.19... but you said already, soon.
Holesod says: on the subject of PSU, is there a plan to allow us to use controls like what we have in legavy?
Holesod says: legacy*
Uadjet says: What type of controls?
Holesod says: like movement
Uadjet says: Ah, not to my knowledge.
Holesod says: instead of having to use the mouse to see where I am going
Uadjet says: The Advanced Locomotion System has movement wrapped up in everything else, so I don't know how hard it will be to change.
Holesod says: ahh ok
Uadjet says: Okay, I'll give you a little recap of what's been going on behind the scenes.
Uadjet says: Talad has been doing a lot of the technical stuff, like working on lighting.
Uadjet says: The lighting in PSU is a bit... basic at the moment, and he's been updating it all.
Uadjet says: That includes lighting in caves as well as exterior lighting.
Uadjet says: The game will look much better once it's lit properly.
Uadjet says: And I nearly described that difference as being 'like night and day".
Rykia says: ^^
Holesod laughs
Uadjet says: I almost described the technical stuff as not being especially 'flashy' too. I start talking about lighting and the bad puns start pouring out.
Rykia says: Keep'em coming
Uadjet says: Talad has also looked into the various mechanisms that players can use to move objects in game. Like the secret passages in certain locations, or the rocks in the lava cave.
[Channel] [1: gossip] Migg: Hello!
Uadjet says: I went through and got coordinates for the teleporting onces a while back and found a secret entrance I didn't even know about, despite well over a decade of playing the game, so it was quite illuminating.
[Channel] [1: gossip] Rykia: Hello!
>Teleported Migg Ellorean to meetingore in instance 345
[Channel] [1: gossip] Uadjet: I assumed...
[Channel] [1: gossip] Migg: You assumed well!
[Channel] [1: gossip] Migg: thank you!
Migg says: this staff is big :D
Uadjet says: On top of doing lighting and mechaisms, Talad also went in and fixed the flicking textures in Amdeneir.
Damola raises an eyebrow "You found a secret entrance you did not know about? Might be something to look out for" she grins
>Anysu just joined PlaneShift
Uadjet says: It was mostly on rooftops, that I noticed, but it's a case where there are multiple faces in the same location. The engine tries to render them all, leading to them flickering back and forth.
>Anysu Atani salutes Uadjet with respect.
Uadjet says: Oh, I found multiple that I didn't know about. Some were just nonfunctional or in places nobody could go.
Migg says: there are stil places where the architecture doesn't properly meet the scenery
Uadjet says: But yes, there's one secret entrance - a tunnel, really - that was surprising to me. And functional.
Migg says: don't know if that's what you mean
Uadjet says: Talad didn't finish up with Amdeneir, and I know Tua is workign on Amdeneir as well.
Uadjet says: But this is... It's called z-fighting, I guess. Hold on...
>You spawned Ojaveda Bluedust Carpet to your inventory.
>You spawned Ojaveda Green Carpet to your inventory.
>Uadjet dropped an Ojaveda Green Carpet.
>Uadjet dropped an Ojaveda Brown Carpet.
>Uadjet picked up an Ojaveda Brown Carpet
>Uadjet picked up an Ojaveda Green Carpet
>Thosor Riereri looks at Anysu's Small Table and panics..!
>Uadjet dropped an Ojaveda Green Carpet.
>Uadjet dropped an Ojaveda Bluedust Carpet.
Migg says: nope
Uadjet says: Well, the carpets aren't flickering, but if you move around you can see that which one is on top changes.
>You spawned 2 Marble Benches to your inventory.
>Uadjet dropped a Marble Bench.
>Uadjet dropped a Marble Bench.
Holesod says: I saw when I changed camera angles
Holesod says: there was a dark spot on the center when I changed camera angles
Uadjet says: Ah, the benches show it better.
Holesod says: then it disappeared
Thosor says: i get spots
Uadjet says: The game can't decide which is on top, so it tries to show both.
Migg says: at the proper camera position the benches flicker
Uadjet says: In Amdeneir's case, it's often where faces got duplicated somehow, so Talad can just delete them. In other cases he just adds a little more geometry so that the top and bottom faces aren't overlapping.
Holesod says: ahh yes
Holesod says: I see that too
Holesod says: thickness and gravity?
Thosor says: carpets switch
Uadjet says: But there are a number of places in Amdeneir where the ground has gaps, or an incorrect texture is applied. That's what they're doing.
Holesod says: is that like how sometimes I can fall when leaving east hydlaa here?
Holesod says: or is it a different issue with the ground in PSU
Uadjet says: In PSU you can actually see holes in the ground.
Uadjet says: I think the one by the tavern was fixed.
Holesod says: oh ok
Uadjet says: You could actually down into the hold underneath Amdeneir.
>Holesod Sacerey nods at Rykia Mewmeat.
>Holesod Sacerey nods at Uadjet.
Damola says: You can have that flickering even with the regular benches here. For example the one Damola is sitting on
Uadjet says: It's a nice place, actually.
Uadjet says: Roomy, high ceiling. Trees.
Uadjet says: Ah, yes. Where the benches overlap at the ends.
Uadjet says: In Legacy we fix that by sliding one item down just a few millimeters. That was the game knows which face is on top and the flickering vanishes.
Uadjet says: But in Amdeneir it's different parts of the same items, so that isn't as easy. Talad's been deleting extra faces and moving bits around so that the flickering stops. And they look nicer too. In some cases there were double-sides faces, like a sheet of paper with textures on both sides. Saves rendering resources, but looks wrong. Roofs are not infinitely thin. Talad's been making those more reasonable.
Holesod says: that makes sense
Uadjet says: And with the fixed lighting Amdeneir won't have a washed out look to it, so it should be amazing. :)
Uadjet says: Let's see... I think I told you about the shrines last meeting, right?
Gonger says: Yes.
Holesod says: I remember some discussion on them
Uadjet says: Good. There's been more progress on them, and if you're in the supporters tab of teh discord channel you'll see a preview of the Laanx Shrine.
Uadjet says: It looks amazing!
Thosor says: looks like a dead spider hehe
Migg says: are the shrines in the known temples?
Uadjet says: No, they were made to be added to different locations. Places without a full temple.
Uadjet says: But honestly, the Laanx one is cool enough it could be added to the Temple.
Uadjet says: So, other than that I've been working on writing quests for the new areas. Mostly just determining who the new NPCs are and what quests they'll have, but on at least some I've got the steps mapped out. I just need to edit one of them down, as I got a bit carried away.
Uadjet says: When you start approaching the 100 step limit for a quest, you know it's time to dial it back a bit.
Holesod says: yeah 100 steps might seem a bit excessive
Anysu nods
Uadjet says: I'll probably make it a series of smaller quests. Simpler that way.
Holesod says: that sounds reasonable
Holesod says: completion of some to unlock others?
Uadjet says: I'm still trying to figure out the Advanced Locomotion system well enough to fit flying and gliding in.
Uadjet nods to Holesod. "Precisely."
Uadjet says: I can do flying, gliding, and slow falls easily enough in normal Unreal, but I may have to ask Talad to complete that little project. I can't even find the blueprints I need to edit in ALS!
Uadjet says: Let's see... I think that's all for the updates. Oh! I'm almost done with the lockpicking quest rewrites. I just need to work on the loot tables.
Uadjet says: Okay, that's all I've got for updates. Any questions?
Rykia says: None from this one.
Damola says: A lot of nice work. I wasn't aware of a 100 step limit for quests, but I bet that's pretty reasonable :)
Anysu says: *cheers for lockpicking*
Migg says: any new artist NPCs?
Holesod says: Yeah a lot of work. It's impressive
Uadjet says: A while back Zwei mentioned lockpicking animations. I'm sure those are around somewhere...
Uadjet says: Artist NPCs? I've got some planned for Amdeneir and Oja. Still need quests for them.
Migg says: If they are bard NPCs specializing in some musical instrument, I may have some ideas
Uadjet says: I'm told Settings won't add new NPCs that don't have a purpose, as far as players are concerned. So goods to sell, involvement in a quest, etc. They can't just exist because their profession existed in medieval times.
Uadjet says: There goes one of the medical NPCs I was going to propose. ;)
Migg says: I would assume every town had at least one bard, or someone to carry on oral tradition in song form
Holesod says: what about ones that talk when a player passes by?
Migg says: towns ought to have poets, composers and playwrights as well
Migg says: at least big towns
Anysu says: One that talks as walk by like a town cryer
Uadjet says: NPCs that greet passing players should be rare, or they'll get annoying.
Uadjet says: A town crier could be interesting, though...
Holesod says: oh yeah they would
>Holesod Sacerey nods.
Anysu nods at Holesod
Anysu nods at Uadjet
Uadjet says: It would be fun to have one that can tell you about updates to an area from an IC point of view.
>Anysu Atani nods at Uadjet.
Migg says: peddlers would cry out their wares to passers by
Holesod says: oh yes
Holesod says: wait a minute...
Gova says: I just want the ability to cast sound deprivation on the two in Amdeneir's Theatre.
>Thosor Riereri nods at Gova Liernan.
Rykia says: Could easily overhear NPC's talking to one another about newsworthy topics too
Migg says: hehe well it would have been interesting if their repertoir was more varied
Holesod says: peddlers crying out there wares would get annoying
Migg says: but realistic still
Holesod says: oh yes
Uadjet says: Ah, yes. I wonder how that could be scripted... If it was a single line, that would be easy. But conversation is trickier.
Rykia says: ...and helpful to new arrivals to PS
Holesod says: hmm can one-on-one conversations exist without quests?
Migg says: just have lines be dependent on time of day
Uadjet says: What, you're tired of Kaiman yelling about his fat sacks?
Holesod says: haha
Holesod looks around, "which fat sacks is he talking about?"
Uadjet says: Toda does as well, as I recall. Maybe more.
Uadjet says: Maybe just a limiter, so they don't shout more often than once every x minutes.
Holesod says: that would be reasonable
>Anysu Atani nods at Uadjet.
Holesod says: generally I only notice Toda doing it when I am in her shop
Uadjet says: It could have a very short range.
Holesod says: yeah
Holesod says: but that might be another thing
Holesod says: do they shout all the time or only when their shops are open?
Uadjet says: Just checked, and I had no town crier on my list, so that's one more NPC to add to the cities. :)
>Anysu Atani cheers happily!
Uadjet says: I'll probably have that one be a younger NPC, with a scale of .9 or .85.
Uadjet says: Like the pickpockets. :D
Anysu says: Pickpoket npcs!
Uadjet says: Well, cities do need a criminal element.
Holesod says: I'd imagine they would be in a more secluded area of a city
Anysu says: Aye
Uadjet says: I'm trying to place new quests in the new areas.
Holesod says: at least one where people aren't bound to hear their conversations
Holesod says: or see what might be shady
Anysu says: Is it pickpocket quest npc?
Uadjet says: The two quests to start lockpicking both start in exisitng areas because they follow naturally from two of the existing quests, but I'll have the player go to a new area and a new NPC as part of the quest, to get them moving around a bit.
Holesod says: those involved in the criminal element wouldn't want to get caught by the guards
Anysu nods at Uadjet
Anysu says: Such quests could give not only skill bu faction points with criminal faction.
Uadjet says: Truly secret areas would require map alterations, but a thief guildhall might be appropriate.
Holesod says: oh yeah that would work
Holesod says: a thief guildhall
Holesod says: but perhaps some might be between buildings if space is allowed
Anysu says: Thief guild would make sense
Uadjet says: There was a conversation about that in the devs channel that I'll have to find, but rogues in Amdeneir won't be this...
>Overriding race for Uadjet to rogue
Uadjet says: They'll look like everyone else. :D
>Resetting race for Uadjet
>Anysu Atani grins at Uadjet impishly.
Uadjet says: That was good. Any more questions/ideas?
Migg says: to that end, rogue potion should also obscure identity
Holesod says: hmm or some kind of thief clothing that hides identity
Holesod says: maybe both
Anysu nods at Migg
Anysu says: Be handy if disguised as thief player coul have name obscured via a potion.
Uadjet says: Hiding identity sounds interesting, but I worry about it being abused.
Anysu says: Aye
Anysu says: That makes lots of sense.
Holesod says: would probably need mechanics to mitigate the abuse
Uadjet says: Maybe the label could change to make it clear the person is disguised, but still leave the name visible in case of misconduct.
Rykia says: Or something simple like a ring that could be used for both things as a quest reward from the Thieves Guild
>Anysu Atani nods at Uadjet.
>Holesod Sacerey nods at Uadjet.
Migg says: I thought one would become rogue #3245 and that would be in a database to say that rogue is really Migg Ellorean
Migg says: but players would not know
Anysu nods at Rykia
Rykia says: Like that idea, Migg.
Migg says: they can still report abuse and GMss would know who it is, rogue could be like another character creatred by the player
Uadjet says: The database knows players by PlayerID.
Uadjet says: If I look at old events, for example, it will list all of the events I've run under the current name of that character, not the name it was at the time.
Uadjet says: Well, that's in the data too, but I digress.
Holesod says: the rogue number would need to be unique to the player in order to mitigate confusion
Anysu says: If one was in a thief guild, then as in ps maybe that guild name is hidden
Uadjet says: So the game would know who it was, but I worry players might not know that and feel like they have no recourse if an anonymous person was harassing them.
Holesod says: yeah that's a good point
>Anysu Atani nods at Uadjet.
Holesod says: I haven't come across them here, but I have come across them in non-rp RPGs
Migg says: if I am always the same rogue then that will help
Migg says: could also be a randomly generated name instead
Migg says: like every time you drink that potion you are slinky underdog
Damola says: See you.
Holesod says: it sounds interesting Migg, but I think Uadjet made a good point about how someone could misuse it to harass players
Rykia says: Bye
Migg says: and that name is fixed but also unique to you
Uadjet says: Could be. We're well past the hour, though, so I think we'll have to call it a day.
Anysu nods at Holesod
Migg says: Yes, it's late for me as well
Migg says: So see you all!
Rykia says: Farewell everyone
Migg says: Thanks for the updates Uadjet!
>Thosor Riereri bows to Rykia Mewmeat.
Holesod says: yes thanks for the updates Uadjet
Uadjet says: Thank you all for coming, and I'll see you at the next meeting in two weeks!
>Holesod Sacerey cheers happily at Uadjet!
Anysu says: Thank you for update
>Thosor Riereri salutes Uadjet with respect.
>Anysu Atani salutes Uadjet with respect.
>Holesod Sacerey salutes Uadjet with respect.
Holesod says: ohh
Holesod says: I see the flickering here too
Holesod says: now I know what you meant
>Thosor Riereri bows to Anysu Atani.
Anysu says: The stage of table flicker
Holesod says: I saw it with the benches here when I stood up just now
Anysu says: *stage*
Anysu says: yup benches as wel
Holesod says: oh yeah I see it with the stage now
Holesod says: it flickers and then stabilizes
Anysu says: really bad flicker here on table stage
Uadjet says: Yeah, things have to be set up just right or the edges overlap.
Holesod says: hmm
Uadjet says: One set of numbers I'll never forget is that carpets are 1.5m wide and 2.5m long. Makes it much easier to lay them out and prevent overlap. :)
Anysu says: Hmmm, yup. Bye!
>Anysu Atani grins at Anysu's Small Table impishly.
Uadjet says: Just set them all down using '/drop inplace' and then slide them in those increments. Perfect.
>Thosor Riereri bows to Anysu's Small Table.
Anysu chuckles
Holesod says: aha I see
Holesod says: hmm
Holesod says: made me think like how in some things there is a "snap to grid"
Uadjet says: Yeah, that would be nice.
Uadjet says: But for many items I can drop two in one place and slide one slowly to figure out the measurements.

Uadjet says: Hello and welcome to the Developer's Q&A! This is an out-of-character meeting where you can hear about the development of the game and ask the Dev and GM teams any questions you might have. If you do have any questions, please line up at the lecterns in front of the stage.
Uadjet says: If you have a question, step up to the lecterns. If not, I'll start with an update.
Uadjet says: Okay, so the last two weeks have mostly been about Dsar Sarraghi.
Uadjet says: That's a section of Ojaveda that doesn't exist in Legacy, though for reference you would get there from the city entrance by going left into the newer section of the city and following that road all the way through the currently closed city gate.
Uadjet says: Talad has spent weeks on it, and that section is pretty well complete.
Damola says: Wow, nice. I probably won't look too much of it up in the life stream, as it would be kind of spoiler to the real experience in PSUnreal.
Uadjet nods. "Very fair. Seeing it 'live' is probably the best introduction."
Uadjet says: Now I have to fill it full of Enki's!
Damola looks forward to solve this plague crap for real in a epic event series.
Gonger says: Hehehe
Uadjet says: Wait, there's no sarraghi trait. Ack!
Holesod says: hmmm
Uadjet says: Well, that's a complication.
Uadjet says: Well, that'll be fun.
Damola says: Sarraghi trait?
Uadjet says: Traits are the cosmetic things like hair style and color. For enkis the traits determine which clan markings you have.
Damola says: Ah, yeah.
>Anysu Atani cheers happily at Uadjet!
Uadjet says: I see rabani, blikau, clamod, kore, and akkaio. No Sarraghi.
Anysu says: Really Sarraghi not on wiki?
Uadjet says: I'll run around the dev channel in a panic about it and maybe it exists somewhere.
Anysu says: Yup not on wiki. Never realized that.
Holesod says: though isn't that pack the most susceptible to the plague?
Uadjet says: But back to the city itself, there is some really nice variation on style. It all fits together so that you know the same culture made them, but things don't all look the same.
Anysu says: Maybe a tortishell fur pattern or calico?
Uadjet says: That Dsar is the most affected by teh plague, I think.
Holesod says: ahh ok
Uadjet says: Yeah, it isn't in the character creator either. We'll need an artist for that. :)
Uadjet says: Oh! Before I change topic there are banners available now, and there's one for each clan of Enkis.
Uadjet says: The banners provide some much needed color variation to Oja, what with it all being made of sandstone.
Uadjet says: I'm sure carpets can be added as well.
>Anysu Atani cheers happily!
Uadjet says: Now, as for the thing that I thought of when I said "artist needed", there is an arist working on Shrines for the different deities.
Uadjet says: I think these will be mainly in towns, or locations wtihout a full temple. Could be in the wilderness too.
Uadjet says: The Laanx one is looking pretty nice. :)
Holesod says: I imagine a Xiosia one would be in the wilderness
Uadjet says: Yes, but I think towns might have them too. Farming towns, for example. They'd likely want to keep Xiosia happy.
Holesod says: oh yes for sure
Anysu says: Small versions so a family could have one on thier farms as like a tribute to pray at?
Uadjet says: They might be a big big and complex for that, though they could be adapted I suppose.
Anysu says: *nods*
Holesod says: I'd imagine a garden about the size of the one here in Hydlaa
Uadjet says: Not finding much on Sarraghi via Google, though there is someone on facebook named Sarra Ghi.
Uadjet says: So both the banners and the shrines were paid for out of the grant that Epic gave to PS.
Anysu says: I did a DM on discord with Sacho and he said he thought there were npc Sarraghi?
Anysu says: *shrug*
Uadjet says: It could say they're Sarraghi in the description, but that doesn't mean they have the sarraghi coloring. I'll take alook in Oja once we're done, but it's possible all NPC Sarraghi just use another clan's coloring in a this-will-do-for-now sort of way.
Uadjet says: As for me, I'm attempting to figure out the locomotion system PSU uses. It's far more complex than the base Unreal system, so the learning curve seems a bit steep.
Damola says: Any idea when next version will come? Already last dev q&a I think it was about how much updates it contains.
Uadjet says: I'll figure it out though.
Uadjet says: Oh, yes. Talad is approaching a new release. It's not quite ready yet, though I think he's like 99% of the way there.
Uadjet says: I'm currently splitting my time between stumbling through that, generating lists of NPCs to populate the new areas, and making small things in Blender.
Damola says: Cool, looking forward to it.
Uadjet says: I don't know if it'll be approved, but I was just working on arangma silk lanterns lit by fireflies that you can see moving around inside.
Zarre says: Love this idea!
Uadjet says: It seems like a good Dermorian lantern to me.
Damola ponders "That could be animal abuse."
Uadjet says: I"ve also got a couple new anvils. One should be familiar to anyone who has seen the Blender Guru tutorials on Youtube, and the other is based on a German anvil with an upsetting block and smoother lines.
Uadjet says: Oh, the bottom of the lantern is open.
Uadjet says: They're lured in by food and maybe pheromones, but not trapped in there.
Damola nods approvingly.
Gonger says: Pheromones are also animal abuse. All men are victims...
Damola says: Heh.
Holesod says: well Gonger....
>Thosor Riereri coughs at Zarre.
Uadjet says: Oh, and I may need to make some Dermorian housing on the ground, because I love the idea of sod roofs with living grass and the best way to get something in game is to make it.
Uadjet says: It's related to the 'better to ask forgiveness than permission" rule.
Holesod says: oh yeah that sounds like a wonderful idea
Uadjet says: I keep picturning Kormi on the roofs.
Thosor says: Just reach through for fresh milk.
Anysu says: I know a resturant that has a grass roof and goats munch on grass ontop of roof.
Zarre smiles briefly at she nods in Thosor's direction
Uadjet says: That seems like it might startle the kormi...
Damola says: Nice.
Uadjet says: So that's what has been going on. Any questions?
Damola says: No question from my side. And going bed soon.
Uadjet says: Okay, then I think we can bring the meeting to a close.
Damola says: I call it a a day.
Damola says: Thank you for updating us for the progress being made!
Uadjet says: Thank you all for coming, and I'll see you all at the next meeting in two weeks!
Uadjet says: And Oja seriously looks great.
Zarre says: Thank you too!
Uadjet says: Felt I needed to say that again.
>Holesod Sacerey claps for Uadjet.
Anysu says: Thanks for update, Udjet.
>Thosor Riereri salutes Uadjet with respect.
>Zarre bows to Uadjet.
>Anysu Atani salutes Uadjet with respect.
>Anysu Atani grins at Anysu's Small Table impishly.
>Lurielle Volanxis salutes Uadjet with respect.
>Thosor Riereri falls asleep beside Lurielle Volanxis.
