You have it or you don't. A couple of days ago David Cameron (UK PM) said it is acceptable to cause offence against religious groups; yet, we have laws in the UK that make causing offence a criminal.... offence. You cannot have it both ways. Freedom of speech is black or white. You can't favour one group or section of society with preferential protection.

Long time no see ;o)

Reuben - Blamethrower.

I would have to say that is my current favourite, Nice thrashy guitars, angsty lyrics, but not overly emo.

Bran Van 3000 - Speed

That one is my second favourite, just a beautiful fusion of many different styles.

Complaint Department / Re: Automated crash reports
« on: June 18, 2010, 01:39:56 am »
Lanarel: No one is disputing the real usefulness of such reports. I do not doubt for a second that they are extremely valuable. The issue is that PS is transmitting identifiable user data without explicit permission from the user. This is illegal when the data is generated within, and transferred outside the EU.

Steuben: Personally I couldn't care about what personal info PS stores about me. I know perfectly well that they have my name, D.O.B and several other pieces of personal information. My concern is that some retard like lin***nius could report the situation and seriously screw things up.

I also raised this issue on IRC a few days ago. There are serious legal ramifications for distributing customer data from within the EU to people outside the EU without -explicit- consent. WoW has a confirmation box before sending such data.

AB is leaving itself open to some  quite serious legal charges if anyone ever refers this situation to the authorities. I would suggest that the crash reporter is disabled very quickly until confirmation is implemented.

[edit]

If someone were to post a completely unedited crash log here it may put people's minds at rest.

I was gonna vote OTR, but I vote Homik!

General Discussion / Re: Rp Rules?

Voted snorks because PS is a game and more players makes it better. Extra rules will just make more play on EZPCUSA when there is eventually a wipe.

Linux Specific Issues / Re: Client crashes just after level loading
« on: December 23, 2009, 03:42:29 pm »
Please delete everything and install again. Both the PlaneShift program directory and your ~/.PlaneShift directory before installing.

The problem with the wilderness areas is that your graphics adaptor does not support the shaders used in PlaneShift (I think). Unfortunately there is not much that can be done to correct that issue at this time, but updating your Intel Drivers -may- help you.

try without sudo.  if that segfaults then try with --mode text (may not be exactly that command, use --help for more info)

Run pslaunch, go to options in pslaunch and choose a skin from the list.

Quote
Mounting skin: /this/art/skins/.zip
this is your issue i would think

If that fails:

Quote
Your configuration files are in... /Users/Aakash/Library/Application Support/PlaneShift

Please delete this directory, possibly reinstall PS if that alone does not work,

Try deleting shadercache from ~/.PlaneShift and adding ThreadManager.AlwaysRunNow = true   to the end of psclient.cfg or planeshift.cfg (or change the line currently saying that (but false) to true)

Try deleting the entire .planeshift directory, the one that contains config, logs and shadercache.

If this fails then please get error output and paste it here in code tags. Getting output is explained near the top of the Mac OSX board.

Linux Specific Issues / Re: Is it playable now?
« on: December 23, 2009, 01:08:35 am »
Or not. Disinformation is not good.

The Client runs flawlessly for me. If you follow simple fixes and have hardware made this decade the chance of success is very high. The bug refered to is fixed.

Have you tried getting GMs to move you to test new locations?

Have you tried deleting the -entire- .PlaneShift directory (the one that contained shadercache)?
