In-Game Roleplay Events / [GM Events] Monstrous Curse
« on: October 31, 2012, 10:02:53 pm »
I'd like to thank GMs for the "traditional" event. It was fun to act like a trepor.
My only regret is I forgot to walk into Red Den, like in my limerick:

There once was a trepor named Sue,
She thought that all it was due,
She walked in the Den
But was skinned by some men
After drinking a cup or two.

Luckily there weren't men around :)

Hi,
I've noticed that the list of guilds is gone.

"News: Show your character to your friends with MyPlane. Place it in your sig !"
It should point to zeroping server, now, shouldn't it?

Some questions that are emerging in my mind after the last Magic Fair.
If this was discussed before, I beg your pardon, and please let me know where's the thread.
So... we should consider Yliakum magic as related to classical greek elements: air, water, fire, earth, aether (or spirit, or whatever, introduced by aristotle), or related to another structure on its own, with 6 distinctive elements?
Crystal way uses the "purest" form of energy from the Crystal. Does it means that energy is in its raw form, unfiltered, or its most elaborated form, extremely filtered? and Dark way it's the opposite form? it's the absence or absorption of light, as the chakra "third eye" suggest? or it is actually an energy form?
the other ways are "refractions" of the crystal? this implies that are carrying less "energy"?
We should use an "exacle" for magic rituals?  ;)
share your thoughts, please!  :detective:

Here I'd like to hear your comments regarding the comic strip "The Doomed Ones" (notice, the strikethrough "o" is done on purpose :P)

Fan Art / The Doømed Ones [Comic strip]

The Doomed Ones

For a couple of minutes I thought I could name this attempt in making some humorous sketch "YAPSCS", Yet Another PlaneShift Comic Strip, but when I tried to pronounce the acronym  I have nearly choked myself, so I desisted.
What it's not this strip? Since I notice funny parallels between real life and role playing, this will not be a pure PS sitcom, but a collection of funny facts and contaminations of my personal point of view and cultural experiences, which I hope will be entertaining also for some of you, and please let me know in the other thread what do you think, or if you find something involving delicate matters because I certainly have no intention of offending anyone.
Oh, any resemblance to real events or role playing events and/or to real persons or characters, living or dead or cursed by Dakkru, maybe is purely coincidental.

Short version is: Did you smile looking at the strip? Good, I'm glad you liked it  ;)
You didn't smile? Then I'll borrow the last sentence of a celebrated movie: "Well, nobody's perfect".

Now... regarding the strip...

Fan Art / Concept and draft for a comic strip
« on: May 20, 2011, 11:34:33 am »
I was thinking about a logo for a customer, when I bumped in a comic strip made entirely with Inkscape. This has sparkled my imagination.
I've seen some examples of fine art in forums and in PS main website, and I thought it was time to try.

So I tinkered in Inkscape with primitives and boolean operations, until I had a concept in mind: "The Doomed Ones".
I don't have time to spend in those things, but by using several modules for characters bodies and objects, it's possible to prepare a nice comic strip in minutes. So far I've done some objects. The results are here:

You know... I  kinda like the "guess my computer specification" game often forcefully played in "problems before entering the game" board...  ;) but...
There's a way to leave a sticky post in big flashing yellow fonts that sounds like "before posting anything read this", explaining the need for computer specifications to isolate the problem?
A fair amount of people ask for help without even mentioning operating system or graphic card, leading to neverending threads, with the same answers again and again. After all a big part of problems seems to me are always the same.

So, I was listening some modern music, Angolese I think, And I thought: what about traditional music instruments in Yliakum? Surely there are some peculiar instruments, made by... Tefusang claws, or drums made with ulbernaut skin... flutes made with riverling bones...
Being a Klyros, I found myself thinking about instruments with water as resounding element... what could be the resultant sound?
Traditional music is based on a pentatonic scale?
Do you have some sketches in mind? Sound samples?
There are some guidelines from the settings department?
Let's talk about it!

Complaint Department / Transparency in pets
« on: December 15, 2010, 07:37:13 am »
Gosh! I can't believe it! I'm writing my first complaint!  :D

Since transparency was added when characters are sneaking, I'm a little sad, because it ruined the appearance of my character when simulating... tribal dancing  ;) by using the sneaking option rhythmically. But I cannot really complain about that. transparency for sneaking has a meaning, even if it seems to me that my char is using some sort of magic instead moving with caution...

But with the last update, when I summon a pet or a mount and I order to simply follow me, why they became transparent? It's a nonsense for me. they aren't sneaking, right?
mmmh, I wonder if there's a speed flag that controls the transparency...

I don't like very much the effect on pets, and I don't see the meaning IC.

However, I want to congratulate all for the hard work. Keep it up!
