I think it would be nice for the supporting people to hear about something that works:
While the download page gives specs only up to windows 7, I believe it works on windows 8, on a non geforce/radeon graphics card, i.e. intel HD graphics 4600, as well. Mind you, i tested only five minutes and only a corner of Hydlaa plaza.
I can max the textures, activate anitialiasing and anisotopic filtering, sound works if i choose openAL. Shadows turn themselves off automatically if i enable them.
On first login, the client got stuck for some reason; I then turned off anitialiasing and anisotopic filtering and slowly reenabled all of it; maybe the client was busy downloading or creating caches at first start.
The only thing that made me think something was wrong then was an in-game reason: that I returned after ages and was overloaded and unable to move.  ;)
Ah yes and when I hit F3 the server went unreachable once - but that may be coincidence, since I can click the icons (whci hare probbaly tied to the F#-keys).

Development Deliberation / Updater source code availability?

I have been asked to provide an updater for a mod to a game that is close in the alphabet to Planeshift, named Paraworld SEAMOD/CEP.

I was thinking of your updater immediately, especially the repair functionality that comes with it.

It would be even better if it could do P2P, by the way ;-)

Is it possible to acquire the source for the updater and the update server, for example under GPL license?

And who knows maybe Planeshift can benefit from improvements I make.

Hi,

I wanted to try out the updater after I didn't run PlaneShift for a time(So there should be updates).

The updater updated itself to 1.10, but then it says there are no active mirrors.

Have mirrors changed? Can I add one manually?

Wish list / Bury and Dig Treasure commands

You would hold a shovel in one hand and the bag or item to be buried in the other hand. Or maybe you would place it on the ground.
Before burying, a check would be made that nothing else can be mined here or that the location isnt too steep.

/dig treasure
Would check for buried treasure

The server would remove treasures of lower value after a day or a month, respectively, so that the server doesn't get clogged down with buried tefusang teeth.

Why?
The dig treasure command could be combined with quests.
The bury command would serve as a not so poor man's bank.

And it would be fun to sneak up on people burying their treasure to dig it out later.

You could easier get rid of garbage, if you wanted to.

Well after my windows-client is randomly dying I thought I'd run it under gdb and to run  gdb I have to run it under mingw, I think.
After my initial surprise that the options are stored in a different place I played the game for some seconds until someone lit a torch.

The last thing is see in gdb is "program exited with code 037777777777".
Before that, there is the message "Distribute leafobjects failed - !leaf_replaced"

The server is very slow - I got dropped and now ping times are > 1000ms

I must say Bronze Doors looks much better with the new lighting and no black area than it ever did with -fullbright.
It's like a completely new area  :love:

I'm running psclient on windows 2000. I often get out of memory errors but when I add up the reported process sizes in task manager it is much less than the memory displayed as in use at the bottom.

Does anyone else have these symptoms? Is the memory maybe allocated to the graphics card? And how could I display the memory allocated to graphics card(tools?)?

I will turn back texture detail from 1:2 to 1:4 with the idea that it is the graphics card that is using the extra memory for textures. Will that work?

I already found smaller light maps for hydlaa, but I'd like to get one for the arena too.
Where could I find one?

Reason: Im crashing frequently when entering the arena and the tunnel is kind of laggy for me.

Wish list / partial quality of looted weapons

I would welcome if looted weapons (and armor) were partially damaged - then I could train the weapons repair skill with some of them.
When eventually the NPC item buyers take quality into account, fixing weapons before trading them will be a much wanted skill.

As it is, I basically have to use armor and weapons below my standard just to damage them so I can repair them later.

Or maybe they work as armour idk - What I learned is the shield skill doesn't worked after putting money into a shield. Just so you know.
