Best torrent to use for new client.
« on: February 06, 2007, 09:23:11 pm »
Ok, tonight I was debating on which was the best way to get the new client with a friend. I am using uTorrent. If you have found any faster way of downloading or have any advice to get the new client faster please let me know. Thanks.

Azureus is a really nice torrent client. Simple to use, but powerful. (And pleasing to the eye :))

The updater application will enable you to update to the newest release, but it usually takes a bit longer to have the updater mirrors ready. The first thing available is a bittorrent link to the entire new client.

Since this is the first time i encounter a server update.. will i have to delete my old client when the next one will be ready?
The old one will not work anymore?

I know.. probably stupid questions...don't tell me that..

Thank you

You can choose to keep your old client and use the updater application to fetch the new files, or you can download the entire new client. So there are two options. The download to the full new client goes up first though :)

But please check and save your shortcuts if you made them before you start the updater as they will always be over written!

or write protect your shortcuts, anyway, the updater usually screws things up for people who run it in the 1st couple of weeks so I would just ignore it as an option all together.

As for the actual topic, has anyone tried BitSpirit? its really pretty and does some cool stuff, as for cpu time and memory usage..... I really dont worry about such things ;)

The really long name of the client is (will be) PlaneShift Crystal Blue v0.3.018. The name of the file to run the client is psclient.exe - not really sure which one you're referring to, so here are both :]

I am now laughing.  I thought with all the talk that the bittorrent was ready  ::)

Though in your post I see that it is not yet.  Not that I need to get on.  I thought if it was ready as a torrent I could help seed and get it started while I present a few business plans :D

the bittorent version that it says to use if you can is .18 .  I am currently downloading it with utorrent, which works great, but I think it is a little slower than it should be.  I did notice however that the mirror that i did get to work was .17 so i had to cancel that and use the bittorent version.

EDIT: yes you just beat me karyuu....and that is the link I used :D
