[ The Octarchal Guards are involved with quite some RP occasions like events or just patrolling. To give you an idea of what the guards do and the interesting stories we run into, we decided to share these with regular posts on the forum. ]

26th of Unodin.
Officer Mogrrim Longroar.

Report of activities off-duty
By my braided beard, when I said the best days off are the eventful ones, I wasn't thinking of that!
Captain Reniye Sein invited me to a picnic to discuss the recent affair we've been thrown into in the last couple of months. The mad mage Triud Quinm, the Kor Neka Mansa affair,
we can't tell we've been twiddling our thumbs lately. Discussing such matters during a picnic, in the fresh air is the best way to come up with a plan, she said.

Aye, that's right, of course it is. Unless the dark forces of the Stone Labyrinth choose that day to pour out and menace our fair city!

As I was starting a delicious seared trout I fished and prepared myself, we had the visit of a contingent of the Way of the Hammers guild that we invited to relax with us.
After some small appetizers, couple of beers, their leader Rheos informed us that they fought a giant beast out there in the wild.
It coincided with the tell of a peasant I had met earlier, which forced me to believe that a serious treat was weighing up on Hydlaa and its citizens.
With no time to spare, my military instinct arising that we gathered a large crowd of brave and concerned citizens and ringed the bell of war.

A dozen of us rushed toward the Stone city were the beast was last seen.

Sir Thedrish Urthadar of the Lost Knigts, offered to scout the surrounding to track the creature and found it roaming in the valley around the lake near Gugrontid. It was what we, dwarves, call a "good warm-up".
Even with my 50 years in the Octarchal army, I've faced death a quantity of time. I suppose Dakkru has been happy enough with us and decided not to keep us down there.
With my Battle Hammer "KeenChaser", I've charged and charged the giant monster, supported by powerful mages, warriors and archers, determined to put an end to that menace.

Finally, after hours of suffering, death and despair, we managed to push the vile beast into the lake. There, harassed by our forces and surprisingly, by a small group of riverlings,
we brought down the terror and our screams of victory resounded until Gugrontid, ROOAAAAR!
Hydlaa was saved.

[Thank you Rheos, Thoraro, Laros, Hangatyr, Elader, Dilihin, Linule, Eymma, Thedrish, Alvero, Lialym, Izumii.]

Roled hopes Officer Mogrrim will report on his tale of remembrance day yesterday as well as the deep conversation that ensued about citizen's rights.

1st of Treman
Recruit Aachey Qantfar reporting

Report of Magical Assault, within Hydlaa city walls

While on patrol Lieutenant Biddle Harge was approached by a citizen, -name withheld- [Jilerel] reporting an assault near the Red Crystal Den.  Upon arrival Lieutenant Harge found several indiviuals enclosed in walls of summoned stone. After restoring calm, Lieutenat Biddle was able to identify the perpetrator as one "Mahkana". According to the witnesses, the suspect assaulted the primary victim -name withheld- [Lyrelora] with an enchanted coin of some kind. Witnesses also claimed this was an attempt to possess her.  Lieutenant Harge arrested the suspect and escorted him to the jail. Several witnesses accompanied them -names withheld- accompanied them and gave their statements at that time.

Shortly thereafter, another witness -name withheld- [Evirea] with prior knowledge arrived to give testimony about the effects of the attack on the victim and provide additional knowledge about the suspect.  According to this witness the suspect is using some form of old magic to take the life energies of his victims and feed it to some type of entity.  Possibly delusional beliefs. Possible previous victims.  Effects on current victim include rapid aging, weakness, loss of hair and teeth.  Condition deteriorating, but under intensive care in an undisclosed location.  Suspect also implicated in other, earlier attack of a more mundane nature. Charges on those pending or under consideration.

Update
5th of Treman
Recruit Aachey Qantfar reporting

Evidence Analysis

The expert mentioned in the second paragraph of the first report [Evirea] returned to examine a journal found in the possession of the suspect.  Captain Sein, Lieutenant Harge, and myself were all present.  The expert's findings were that the suspect was part of a long line of people who have been doing what was done to the primary victim for either decades or generation. Possibly a family tradition. The surname "Ruuka" was mentioned, but apparently they call themselves "The Faceless." Delusions of grandeur suspected.  Energy stolen intended to free a soul/entity trapped in the Dark Crystal and eventually place it in a new body. Initial attack is primarily of the Dark Way, but evidently both Azure and Blue Ways also factor in.  Journal returned to evidence.

Aachey 17/12/2015 20:00 UTC - Disturbance in the Plaza.
Lieutenant Biddle and I investigated a disturbance near Harnquist's forge in the Plaza.  An enkidukai mercenary by the name of Kisoji Valsha and an injured klyr by the name of Zerxzz Cilel were found by the forge. Zerxzz accused Kisoji of assault, while Kisoji claimed he was hired to retrieve property stolen by Zerxzz. The owner of said property, named Malmortius, confirmed Kisoji's story. The was no report of the initial theft, no witnesses other than accuser, and no physical evidence so we concluded that there was insufficient evidence to hold anyone at that time. Both Kisoji and Zerxzz are worth keeping an eye on in the future, as they both smell of trouble.

Aachey 28/12/2016 08:00 UTC  - Disturbance in the Plaza.
Witnesses a small group including several people with weapons drawn in front of Harnquist's forge.  Two individual, Kisoji Valsha and Ravynne Stoush had their weapons drawn but sheated them immediately upon my order to do so.  A third person, name unknown, had a smith's hammer in hand but did not seem to intend to use it as a weapon. Appears to be an arguement escalating into violence. During the conversation it was reported that Kisoji had boasted of killing someone earlier that day by biting her throat with his teeth. He claimed it was a boast until the person in question showed up and confirmed the story. Said victim - Voxeon - claimed she didn't want to file charges. Apparently the assault came after she cam up and kissed him without warning in the Arena. Given that he could have taken that as an attack in a place where he could have reasonably expected to be attacked, and that the victim had to desire to file charges, I felt I had no choice but to let everyone go. This Kisoji continues to be a troublemaker though, and needs to be watched.

As this location is the scene of many violent crimes in recent months, I would suggest that Harnquist's Forge be designated a 'troubled location' and be subject to increased scrutiny.

Mon 17-Oct-2016 Officer Cyarara Reporting: Lost item

Seems a rather non observant citizen wandered around the roads between Ojaveda and Hydlaa gathering flowers and paying no mind to where she was going or where she had been. Managed to misplace an important journal. Oretara was her name, she was seeking the help  of some other citizens when I came across the small group, a rather fidgety, nervous dwarf, Oslorrod, goes by the name of Oslo. Ravynne, very helpful searched high and low on her mount and reported back to us with no luck. Kecalle also assisted in the search. After seeing the group get weary we decided to call it a day, will resume search again tomorrow. Hoping to enlist the assistance of Aachey and other local citizens.

*Cyarara slides in a late report under hoping it's lateness goes unnoticed*

Wed 12-Oct-2016 Officer Cyarara reporting: Forge Thief

While on patrol I stopped by Harnquist and asked the folks how things were and a fenki, Kecalle was in distress about losing some platsteel stocks. Seems someone may have taken them while she was not looking. And the dwarf, Yoken who was there with her did not see anything either. After checking with the captain I replaced the two platsteel stocks and advised them to keep an eye out for any shady people hanging about and to give a shout if they had any more troubles.
[Yes I roleplayed the bug and it was quite fun :P]

Sat 24-Dec-2016 Officer Cyarara Reporting: Weapons Testing

Tested a new design on a crossbow. Had several citizens assist and give feedback on the use of the weapon. Overall it was highly recommended we use this weapon for the Octarchal Guards.
The crossbow was tested with a group of citizens against the reports of pesky consumers as well as with another test group against the increasing 'naut invasions. Both groups agreed it was a powerful weapon against such creatures. Proper training and testing to be sure they had knowledge of the weapons was preformed before attempting to use them against live creatures.

Sat 21-Dec-2016 Officer Cyarara Reporting: Golden Kormi

Arion Fildar delivered a notice saying a book ordered had finally be delivered to Jayose, a group of citizens and myself went to look at this new book and it told stories of a Golden Kormi, several citizens reported having had seen one recently. We spoke with Jardet and Jashoky and found several clues that hinted a Golden Kormi has indeed been making appearances (See evidence locker for Golden Kormi wool, tracks and droppings) Jashokey mentioned there was a dwarf who came to her asking questions about Golden Kormi as well, seemed suspicious to me and should be noted.

It should also be noted upon my patrols there have been several citizens telling me about random murders going on in the plaza, this should be investigated further. I also received a report [via /petition @guards] that a murder that took place right in the middle of the market today [1/1/2017]. What happened, from what she could tell, was an Ylian man took an arrow to his neck, which seemed to come from the direction of the East Gates. she thought she heard someone, in all the confusion, say the Ylian's name was Venun, but they weren't sure, and neither was the reporting citizen. He was claimed by Dakkru, and she hopes that he shall find his way out of the Death Realm. I do believe Aachey was sent in to investigate this mater farther and his reports should hopefully have more information.

Nice stuff actually, even if it has been a while.

I love it when GMs impersonate NPCs when players do their stuff in Hydlaa or elsewhere.
Love,
