Linux Specific Issues / PS 0.5.2 crashes on update
« on: February 23, 2010, 08:43:37 am »
OS is OpenSuse 11.2 64 bit on Intel motherboard and CPU.

I have downloaded the latest installer 0.5.2 and installed it. Removed the libvorbis library from libs/ directory, to ensure locally build audio libs are used.

Every time I run "./pslaunch" it requests an update to take place. Downloads about 3.0 MB then segmentation faults. Same happens with "./pslaunch --console" too.

Unable to get past this point.

Linux Specific Issues / openSuse 11.2 x64 - startup problem
« on: January 25, 2010, 09:33:05 am »
PS: all other applications making use of sound works.

After ending up with the first error:

Inconsistency detected by ld.so: dl-close.c: 731: _dl_close: Assertion `map->l_init_called' failed!

I came across another topic about the error. Following the advice of murdering the PS libvorbis library, I managed to get further in starting PS. :) But only to a black window. :(

Windows XP Profesional
1 GB RAM
nVidia GeForce 4
Intel motherboard and P4 CPU

After character has been created. Every time the world (tutorial world) has just finished loading the PC immediately reboots (black screen then BIOS begins loading) and BIOS gives CPU temperature warning. Require F4 to be pressed to resume. I also monitored the CPU temperature and it is staying cool all the time. Even with the Task Manager running when running the PS client, the CPU does not even get to 50% usage until system shutdown upon world finished loading. Shting down windows normally does not result in any CPU warnings.

Could the developer who fixed the Kran spacial volume bug quickly please fix the Klyros spacial volume bug too. It has been more than a month now with 2 updates, while it took a week to fix the Kran.

It is really getting annoying not being able to walk down some stairs, though many doors, which even the taller Kran have no problems walking through.

Maybe the Klyros model developer could change the 3 values for specifying the spacial volume and submit the model again to the developers.

Thanx

Technical Help: IN GAME bugs (after loading world) / Quicksand
« on: March 08, 2005, 02:55:27 pm »
Well as I was on my way to Ojaveda in search of a tavern when I came across some quicksand, though seems to be selective on who sinks into it. A human ran ahead of me with no problem, followed by a another Klyros when the Klyros disappeared into the ground. Not having had any problems earlier I dared the area where the Klyros disappeared but did not seem to sink.

Well the quicksand can be found after the T-intersection in the forest to the left (right to Mage house and mining area) to Ojaveda. The path in the forest makes a right turn, before existing into high walled rock outcrop. At this point the quicksand is located.

So be carefull at when existing the forest to Ojaveda.

Technical Help: IN GAME bugs (after loading world) / Attacked through wall
« on: February 18, 2005, 01:51:22 pm »
I (Klyros) was standing in the Ojv (oh, now I forgot to spell the Enki town name) Outfitters shop where other characters were purchasing goods. I stood by the shelves of items, when I was attacked by a Rogue. I turned to see only the shop owner and other player characters present. The Rogue was on the outside of the shop on the other side of the building wall.

These bugs are most noticible when walking around the Tavern near the upper sewers entrance.

I not sure if the occupying volume is a bit too big for the Klyros. Walking through doorways, is a very precise action, need to approach the doorway perfectly to be able to walk through.

To walk down the stair of the Tavern on the ouside one needs to hop onto the rail to walk down the stairs. Inside the Tavern as one walks down to the ground level from the 1st floor does allow the Klyros to pass through, yet allows the Klyros to walk up the stairs. Need to use /spawn to get out of building from 1st floor.

By the dungeon entrance, the Klyros feet must just be off the edge of the ledge to be able to walk around the building to get to the entrance of the dungeon. There is also a world crack about the width of the Klyros foot at the edge of the ledge.

Some open doors, the Klyros can\'t walk through, think the door is slightly closed to allow the Klyros to walk through. One such open door is in the Tavern.

At the moment I just exploring the world, until the world wipe takes place, before I start developing my Klyros character.

The crash takes place after connecting to the server, when the background is draw with the model background draw as well. No model appears or any text.

The error returned is Segment fault line 5: .

The bug seems to be random, as on occasion the client restart actually displays the model and text. Allowing one to select a character and join the world.

Upon quiting from the world, the same error occurs.

EDIT:

I just tried again though this time the model appeared for the 1st character, but no other text. Took 3 secs to finally crash.

Also noticed pings are better than usual (about 850 ms instead of the 1s), but takes much longer to connected, while displaying fail pings occasionally.

Could a list of libraries and their version numbers be provided, especially the version numbers of the libraries used by the developers.

Technical Help: IN GAME bugs (after loading world) / Phase rats
« on: January 18, 2005, 11:22:47 am »
Yesterday, when I played I was very busy trying to get some money to buy a pickaxe (yes I been at it for 3 days already), I had rats that appeared and disappeared constantly than the usual rats of the two prevous days.

Is this a bug or are they actually phase rats.

Technical Help: Problems BEFORE entering the game / PS forum board server
« on: January 17, 2005, 12:08:13 pm »
Where outside Europe and US does the PS forum board server exist? Very often I battle to connect to PS forums, continous retries on average of 15 mins before the web page loads.

Generally has little hassle to view PS main website pages, just the forums.

Newbie Help (Start Here) / What happens when XP = 100% ?
« on: January 17, 2005, 10:07:41 am »
I looked through the Player Guide at the Character Stats section about XP, Progression Points, etc. The only bit of information that is missing what supposed to happen when your XP reaches 100%.

How does Progression Points related to XP, etc.

In Yliakum, near the entrance to the dungeons.
Between the pavement ramp and wooden fence.

Hole seems to be against the ramp itself.
Can actually see the hole, as a light blue line during the day time.

For example:

Enkidukai

Player Guide: STR 55, END 50, AGI 85, INT 40, WIL 70, CHA 50
Race Description in game: STR +1, END +1, AGI +2, INT 0, WIL +3, CHA 0
