Explorers Guild Picture of the Week
« on: November 30, 2007, 11:40:08 am »
The Explorers Guild has accumulated a lot of interesting pictures over the years so we decided to start a "Picture of the Week" thread.  We take pride in getting to those hard-to-reach and you're-not-supposed-to-get-there places.  So a lot of those will be posted but it's not necessarily limited to those.  Sometimes we'll just include something interesting we've come across.

Why this section?  This thread could go any number of places, including the guild section, but since the screenshots thread is here, it seemed as good a place as any.  And I didn't want to hijack that thread as it's huge and I didn't want to bury these there.  But if the mods feel differently, I'd understand.

So here we go: this is not the prettiest picture but ................  [drumroll]

One thing we see is snow + fog + flame spire = a not so good graphic effect
But if you look closely, the poor guy passing by below is getting both scorched AND snowed on.   ;D

Mordaan shows up with a goofy top hat and a red coat with long tails.

Ok, for our next act we have an amazing, incredible, high wire act!  Yes, walking that tight rope is none other than Maanahr!!  *applause*

I like them. Keep them up. Novelty is good in pictures and these far surpass the novelty of those in the screenshot thread.
I suggest the statue of Laanx gets turned into a statue of Parallo <3. An NPC could never replace the huge hole he left in my heart when he died  :'(

I have often wondered how people change the size of their character like that, but that shall remain a mystery I suppose.  Overall though, having one per week ensures pretty good quality pictures, especially when you have an entire guild working at it.

It's a matter of zooming your camera. By default, I believe the scroll wheel is used for zooming. You can't zoom with all camera modes though, but I think you can in 3th-person follow or free rotation.

Incidentally, to zoom out that far you'll need to edit the MaxCameraDistance in PlaneShift/data/options/camera.xml.
In my usual camera-mode, free rotation, I have it set to a kilometer or so.

I believe you set the distance in your options/camera in game.  If that is what you were asking?
I've been outside, it's overrated and the graphics suck!

No, about what Manar said. I can't get it to go further than its default.

Manar is suggesting manual editing of the xml file.
"Here's to lowering caskets of old friends choice and consequence we'll birth a new day with the death of an old and start over, start over.  Here's to burying hatchets in those who you'd never call your friend...we'll birth a new day with the death of an old day and start over, start over!"

He just said. Here:

Incidentally, to zoom out that far you'll need to edit the MaxCameraDistance in PlaneShift/data/options/camera.xml.

You have to modify that file so the MaxCameraDistance has a larger maximum value
Confusion is always the most honest response
