Quests and Quest items
« on: June 17, 2002, 10:10:19 pm »
In order to make any items in the game exceptional you need to make them as a part of a quest. cerrtin quest items should be able to be retained after the quest and or there should be a choice of an item recievd for doing a quest like say man A dose quest for man B wich Requires man A to retrive a magic staff for man B, in thanks for the magic staff man B gives man A a choice of items... Man A can either pick Item X,Y,or item Z. man A can only chose one item, man A choses Item Y. thus makeing the item rare to Man C whom periviously did the quest and  chose Item Z. this will make trade more interesting and fun for many who lust for other items that they wanted but cant get now
I will Hunt you... I will find you... I will ctrl alt Delete you... Bounty Hunter Goodness

why not make it so u are randomly given a quest like to go and kill some evil thing or whatever and you are given so many quest points for doin this. and there is a shop somewhere in town where u can use your quest points to \"buy\" special items.
maybe u can \'buy\' the right to be called Sir . or other things like the hero. the legandy warrior.

The person who tries to live alone will not succeed as a human being. His heart withers if it does not answer another heart. His mind shrinks away if he hears only the echoes of his own thoughts and finds no other inspiration.

or why just get one specific item from that guy if you got random items and got the same two for doing another or harder quest you might be a lil ticked off

Well, if that were to be implemented, i am sure they would code it that you would not get two of the same items. And i LOVE :] the idea of quest points, and buying your rank with those quest points!!!!!

Buying your rank MmmMm i rather not spend my beautiful quest points on my rank hehe maybe you should just earn points or karma points for a title  or rank and have quest points give you something nifty like a elder sword of shimmering light or something

In another post i mentioned that any one should be alowd to kill any one.  This could open up a whole world player created quests. for exapmle if an extremely high level character is on a quest for the perfect item and is about to return, lets say, the holy grail to get the item. Alll of the sudden he is ambushed by 20 satanic bandits (played by real people) that want the grail for their rituals.  the high level character can go into a town to round up a party to infiltrate the bandits hide out to recover the item.  in return for helping him he may offer gold. his services as an escort to your guild items or he may let you divide up anything plundered from the bandits hideout.  this could all be done with player characters and no scripting.
JESUS FREAK AND PROUD OF IT!

No, that is not going to happen. PK will only be allowed in certain special places, like an arena or a colosseum, as it is stated in the FAQ. For this reason, no one will be able to attack another player (that is why a 1 person against 20 player controlled bandits is out of the question). For the same reason, I don\'t think stealing will be implemented, since we would not have a way to avoid being stolen or to get our stolen item back (at least we won\'t be able to steal from players, I think). Finally, bounty hunting won\'t happen (how will you capture or kill a criminal if you can\'t even attack him?). What I mean with this is that perhaps we can\'t hunt down a player criminal, but I am sure there will be plenty of NPC criminals to fight against.
Still, there can be some sort of player created quests (like in Spartan\'s example), although I don\'t think the game would think of them as quests but as normal events.

No, because it causes unnecessary grief.
It much easier to program and do then NPC AI.
