Maximum number of guild ranks

I have looked through the forums but could not find anything on it except some old posts from years ago, hence a new topic.

At the moment, the maximum number of guild ranks is 9.
Would it possible, perhaps in the future, to increase this?

We need more ranks!

How else are we going to meticulously organize guild members?

I say we need about 49 more!

Well, I wanted to change ranks with certain members, and I noticed I only see the first 6.
I can change the names of all 9 ranks within the ingame Guild settings window,
but when I select a member and want to give him the 7th or 8th rank, I can't ('cause it isn't visible), see the attached screenshot:



I changed the theme of the client, but in both cases the result is the same.

You can have as many ranks as you want. Just roleplay them.

The list does not has a scrolling slider next to it and it appears a graphical thing since the characters of the 5th rank are truncated one or two pixels from the bottom.

You probably don't have enough members, Thedrish.
We have more than 9 members.
And I fail to see what that has to do with being able to define and give any higher rank to a member.

My guild leader told me that you weren't able to assign people to a guild rank higher than the number of players you had. I wasn't sure if that's true, and I still don't know. I've tried doing what you are attempting now, and I've noticed that the menu is cut off. So it's more likely a graphical glitch.

But I can't read any convincing reason there why 9 is a sensible maximum. It was decided once and is now probably limited by the database structure.

This topic might be confusing since two issues were addressed.
The max. of 9 ranks is clear to me and sufficient for the time being.

The real issue is that I am not able to assign certain ranks.
I've tried doing what you are attempting now, and I've noticed that the menu is cut off. So it's more likely a graphical glitch.

Now looking for a way around it  ;)

You are not able to scroll the list e.g. using the mousewheel? A different skin may reveal scrolling controls for the list of ranks or use a smaller font to make them all appear in the given dimensions. Maybe contact Bonifarzia/Neeno/Moja about it so they will check their skin mods. And create a bugtracker task to have that fixed in the official skin too.

Just had a look at it with BoNeeSkinExt and indeed, the layout of the rank prompt is a bit odd. Actually, there was an expand button at the top right, which drops down the rank list including a scrollbar. Even though there is enough space for all ranks, only a few lines are shown, so scrolling is needed. I don't think the cfg data for prompts like this are in the skin, are they?

I found out that if you use the 0.5.9.10 client, you can browse through the ranks (then you have a slider).
But you will need the servers.xml from 0.6.0 to make it work.
