All online games are rated with a "rating may change during online play", ps is no exception on this front and cannot be. We can only assure the content itself is PG13 but we cannot assure the interaction with players will always be so, the gm team cannot be there 24/7 looking at each player after all. I'd suggest that someone looks upon the children while online. Any automatic solution is just a false friend and any activity online could have risks. Even browsing for school topics could easily show porn ads. So essentially without stripping off the computer from being able to run anything and disabling connections to anything else than a specific server where only the people known by the children can connect it's difficult to assure a safe harbour.

Well I dunno if it's my upbringing or New Zealand or what, but I started playing PlaneShift at the age of 14 and have only had little arguments with various players.

As soon as I started playing PlaneShift the first thing my brother showed me was the /report [player name] command, which I have used to players who have been harassing me, or just acting OOC. I suppose if you report plenty of players, you'd get a reputation of reporting bad behaviour?

Other than that, if they don't have a facebook account. Which honestly I've seen far worse on there. Then they're too young to play Planeshift, especially at the age of 10. Tell them to go climb a tree or something 'kids' did in the late 90s'.
You maybe roleplaying but you could still be OOC.

You need to remember that this post is about him wanting to play with his kids, [niece/nephew?] that live in another state, meaning, go climb a tree, doesnt help him at all.
Try to keep on these lines, its obviously the most important point he is making.
Dohmo: Please clean up your language immediately.
Me: as i just said, what i said, fits in the guidlines of rated PG, i was just explaining to the G guy
Dohmo: Sorry I tried to e nice
Dohmo: and i'm telling you to clean it up. last warning

In '98 I was using the internet without parental supervision...
