Title: BoNeeMods
Post by: Bonifarzia on December 29, 2009, 11:52:44 am
BoNeeMods is a package of player made client modifications for Planeshift.

It consists of various widgets and utilities, a skin and some fanart textures, which all can be used independently. All mods are hosted on LigH's webspace (http://www.ligh.de/) as well as on GreatShift (http://greatshift.111mb.de/). The latter contains some further informations and can be commented in a separate topic here. (http://www.hydlaaplaza.com/smf/index.php?topic=40421.0) In the following section, I give a list of some contents with (mostly) links to LigH's mirror.

1) BoNeeWidgets (http://greatshift.111mb.de/boneewidgets): Some compact GUI layout, suitable for moderate and low resolutions
2) BoNeeSkin (http://greatshift.111mb.de/boneeskin) : A crystal themed GUI skin (which also contains the above widgets)

3) BoNeeMaterials (http://greatshift.111mb.de/boneematerials), some fanart textures. The collection is split into several small packages, which are the following:
Azure Robes (http://www.ligh.de/PlaneShift/BoNeeMods/AzureRobes.zip), Blue Robes (http://www.ligh.de/PlaneShift/BoNeeMods/BlueRobes.zip), Brown Robes (http://www.ligh.de/PlaneShift/BoNeeMods/BrownRobes.zip), Crystal Robes (http://www.ligh.de/PlaneShift/BoNeeMods/CrystalRobes.zip), Dark Robes (http://www.ligh.de/PlaneShift/BoNeeMods/DarkRobes.zip), Plates (http://www.ligh.de/PlaneShift/BoNeeMods/Plates.zip), Red Robes (http://www.ligh.de/PlaneShift/BoNeeMods/RedRobes.zip), Faces (http://www.ligh.de/PlaneShift/BoNeeMods/Faces.zip), Clothes (http://www.ligh.de/PlaneShift/BoNeeMods/Clothes.zip), Dresses (http://www.ligh.de/PlaneShift/BoNeeMods/Dresses.zip) and a trivial patch for fynwnn robes (http://www.ligh.de/PlaneShift/BoNeeMods/invisible.zip).

4) BoNeeKeys (http://greatshift.111mb.de/boneekeys): A collection of user commands and key bindings.
Redone from scratch, intended to provide a very clean keyboard layout even for excessive numbers of shortcuts.

Thanks to Neeno for his contributions to the BoNeeSkins and to LigH for hosting the files.

Detailed information on the contents and instructions how to use the packages are found in the contained README files.
The description pages on GreatShift (http://greatshift.111mb.de/) give further information previews for each mod.

Nevertheless, I would like to emphasize and summarize the following points about modding the textures (materials.zip) of your client:

Neeno has provided some remarkable workaround (http://greatshift.111mb.de/modloader) for the above procedure, but this will require to compile your client (http://planeshift.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/planeshift/trunk/docs/compiling.html) from the sources on SVN (http://planeshift.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/planeshift/trunk/).

If you have any problems with the files, feel free to send me a PM.

Thanks in advance for constructive comments.

Wow ! Very nice skin.
I especially like the rune-like icons and rough stone trim.
I'll try it out when I have a chance

Yay, Boni, you look as young as ever...

Ahm ...

Oh, you mean the GUI skin!  :-[ -- Yes, an interesting idea, reminds me on an inverted geode (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geode) (Druse (http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Druse_%28Mineralogie%29)).

Diamonds are a girl's best friend, eh?  :innocent:

Thanks for your comments.

I admit there are some flaws in those files. Two of the most annoying ones have been fixed (hopefully) and above links are updated.

Note that there is more to discover than can be seen in the preview.

Unfortunately the links don't work any more, mediafire only gives me an invalid file notice. Maybe you could re-upload them and update the links?

Thanks for the note. Temporarily fixed, but I will look for a more reliable place to put those.

Just a note:
I had Boniskins and I replaced everything it does, without leaving a copy of the original. I believe this made me unable to update, so I had to download the game again to fix it.

@ Bguy: In your case, a "Repair" update should have fixed it.

As stated in the Readme.txt, be sure to backup your files, especially the large archives such as materials.zip before modifying them. Usually, the updater should still be able to do the job, downloading the entire archive instead of simply patching it. Otherwise, a repair should help, as LigH already mentioned.

The Way of the Hammer decided to pack up all files (original as well as patched) to a whole ZIP, which can be selected as skin via pslaunch; but this results in a large size (11.8 MB).
__

New (and rather reliable) mirrors:

Basic GUI skin (http://www.ligh.de/software/BoniSkins2.2.zip) / Materials addon package (http://www.ligh.de/software/BoniSkins2.2.materials.zip)

Minor update to version 2.2 (still unfinished)

New content:

plated rivnak (still not the way i want it, but will do for now)
active magic window
better readability of chat window
xml files for the layout are now in the skins zip file
some more minor fixes
finally, a reliable download mirror

The Way of the Hammer decided to pack up all files (original as well as patched) to a whole ZIP, which can be selected as skin via pslaunch; but this results in a large size (11.8 MB).

Ah, interesting. I expected there must be a more elegant way to include the textures than patching the materials.zip, but simply did not find out how.

New (and rather reliable) mirrors:

Basic GUI skin / GUI and Materials package

Thanks again. Notice the materials package does not include the skin (GUI).

You need to download the BoniSkins2.2.zip file from the first post, and then place the file in you PS installation directory under.

....../Planeshift/art/skins

there should be a elves.zip file in there. Once there, load pslaunch and chose the new skin and then play the game.

For BoniSkins2.2additionalMaterials.zip ive not used, but you should go to ......../Planeshift/art/materials.zip and change replace the files in there with the ones from BoniSkins2.2additionalMaterials.zip

A justified question. I wanted to keep the header of this thread short, so I put those instructions in the README.txt files of each package.

Yes, that is correct so far - and should not be to complicated. Be sure to make a backup of your materials.zip before modifying it, because you don't want the updater to download the entire archive later.

And here is another small preview.

Title: BoniSkins renamed to BoniMods
Post by: Bonifarzia on September 09, 2010, 04:43:14 am

Finally, it is time to give these mods a major update to version 2.3.
To reduce confusion about the names, the project shall be renamed to BoniMods.
The title, download mirrors and introduction of this topic have been changed accordingly.

Changelog for version 2.3:

* BoniKeys included

* Scrollbar issues in chat.xml fixed (this bug is still present in the default elfes skin!)
* nontransparent chat window for better readability
* title color fixed in book writing window
* small fixes to exchange.xml
* some minor issues with buttons and backgrounds

* green platemail for fynnwn without skulls and transparent spots
* additional platemail texture and normals for the regular fynnwn torso mesh
* dark plate armor for the rivnak
* removed textures: golden fynnwn plate, simple ynnwn plate and gray rivnak plate

I would like to put the previous preview picture here ...

... for comparision with the current version:

That's kind of him. Also: subtle.

@topic: I do like the window reorderings. What I do not like is the ice theme. The icons are imho even more puzzling than the originals, and I find the ice borders too thick (I don't say I like the borders in the default skin...)

In terms of chat and buddy windows, I settled with this:

The button reordering one might like or not; I don't care, I like it, especially in combination with not showing System messages on Main tab. But I find the buddy list really nice; sure, you have to understand the symbols, but when you do, it can't get much smaller.

If you or anyone is interested in my XMLs for that, feel free to ask.

That's why I emphasize that the different parts can be used independently. For instance, I like the combination of Daevaorn's classic skin (http://www.hydlaaplaza.com/smf/index.php?topic=36705.0) with the BoniWidgets.

The early versions of the BoniSkins are almost as old as my account on flyspray, but the first version i posted here was the one for 0.5.0, because of the lack of custom skins and the very large default windows at lower resolutions. I would say no default skins have been inspired by this mod here.

Boni- Can you maybe change the buddy list so it is a "T" chart ? T chart so that one half is BL the other is EL, can you also make it so that there is an option wether you want to see the EL only or the BL only?
Like this -
Buddy list |  Enemy List:
ll-------------|------------------
Maisent    | Kisoji
Heleckie   | hardt
Mishka     | Eagler
Ardoin     | Kunik
Bonifarzia | Maulahan
Teshie     | Vvallace
Esorono   | Veharaul

At the botton there is the normal Add or Remove button and when you click that the popup will come. Except this time below the space where your write your name there is an option which side to put it [EL,BL]

Buddy list |  Maisent's list of lovers:
ll-------------|------------------
Maisent    | Kisoji
Heleckie   | hardt
Mishka     | Eagler
Ardoin     | Kunik
Bonifarzia | Maulahan
Teshie     | Vvallace
Esorono   | Veharaul

I see how it is maisent.

Because the server does not support Buddies vs. Enemies, there is nothing a skin mod for the client could help that.

As LigH pointed out, this is nothing that can be done with a skin mod. You can either make a feature request and hope someone will implement the mechanics to have this in game, or you simply have another application display this information, which works just fine if you do not play in full screen mode. For instance, you can make your list with Derula's png images  (http://www.hydlaaplaza.com/smf/index.php?topic=36943.0) or use Aiwendil's Python script (http://www.hydlaaplaza.com/smf/index.php?topic=36145.0), which already has the enemy list feature ready for use.

BoniMods isn't working for 0.5.5!!  :o :o :o

FIX IT PLEEEEEEEASE!!!  :'(

The reason is this:

    * Ability to disable active magic window notification

All you need to do to fix this is either insert the new lines for that checkbox in activemagicwindow.xml or simply dismiss the entire file from the boniskins2.3.zip.

If the former is to complicated,  you can replace said file with this:

Code: [Select]

I still have a problem… when modifying the .xml file and using the skin, I can't play the game. The icon bounces once on my dock, the window pops up for a second, and then… poof: icon stops bouncing, and the window closes.

I'm using Mac OS 10.6.4, if it helps.

Well, well, well… no worries! If I liked the BoniSkin it was for how the containers/windows looked like. So I started to poke around my PlaneShift root folder with some .xml files I found on the BoniSkin, and… I got this:

http://img149.imageshack.us/img149/803/capturadepantalla201012j.png (http://img149.imageshack.us/img149/803/capturadepantalla201012j.png)

Sorry for not posting the image here =P It was a bit too big x3

Problem solved!!

EDIT: I forgot to say how to solve it. Here it goes.

-In User/Applications/PlaneShift/data there is a folder named "gui". Open it (you'd like to backup it, also… just in case)
-Unzip BoniSkin. Whoa! There are a lot of files there… don't worry. You'll have to keep your eye on these ones:

Back to the gui folder!!

-Now, careful. You shouldn't copy/paste all the files at the same time… you can try. If PlaneShift doesn't load, then repair and start again as I indicate here: remove one file from gui and replace it with a file of the BoniSkin file. Don't drag directly without removing the original file first.
-Once you're done… well, I recommend you to copy the gui folder and paste it somewhere, as gui_backup. Just in case you do a repair and lose all your work. Happened to me…

If you did everything correctly, ENJOY! I couldn't do anything about the theme, I mean, the crystal edges and such artistic thingies… I'll leave that to Boni.

PS: If there is any problem, contact me using a PM! Or in game ;)

EDIT2: I think it does work with Windows/Linux… ¯\(o_º)/¯ I dunno lol But I'm sure the whole BoniSkin works for them.

Looks like BoniWidgets with elves skin. As I mentioned several times, you can use the different parts of the BoniMods independently. Looks also very nice with Daev's classis skin, which can always need some more advertisement.

Of course, you can replace the files in data/gui with something else, but it is always saver and better to put your modified xml files into one of the zip files in art/skins. Then they will be loaded instead of those in data/gui, and if something goes wrong, you can simply dismiss them and don't need to repair using pslaunch.

As for the problem you experienced, most probably the packaging of the zip file somehow went wrong. Most software should support drag and drop to replace files in a zip archive, which is usually saver than to unpack everything, modify, and recompress.

I did it and modified your containers. Forgot to ask: can I modify your containers?

This is the result: http://img405.imageshack.us/img405/9943/shot37.png (http://img405.imageshack.us/img405/9943/shot37.png)

I have the zip ready to be sold distributed. Works perfectly, without modifying ANYTHING in your gui folder (Sulaika, this is for you ;) ). I only need Boni's persmission.

That one was actually on my todo list, Mishka. I was just not sure yet how to do it, because this window is used for many types of containers with quite different numbers of slots. Your solution works very nicely for sacs, well done. Sure, you have my okay to put your work in here, although you might prefer an own thread later. By the way, a smaller section of that screenshot that shows the container window only might be a better preview- one small enough to insert as image.
Title: Re: BoniMods

The container window in the TWH skin is resizable vertically: Pull the bottom down if you need more overview.
Title: Re: BoniMods
Post by: MishkaL1138 on December 19, 2010, 10:38:13 am
I only need to find a way to make the window shrink automatically to the size of the container. I mean: when you open a sack, you see this

So, maximum size is 32, like the inventory, since it is the most used container in game. Mind if I open a new thread somewhere to discuss this and start creating a new GUI from zero, with my own art? That way you can give me ideas and I can learn… Tell me where and I'll start a thread :) Also, LigH's idea is goodm too, but I work good now.

PS: Haraun said that large sums of tria don't display correctly on the inventory. How to fix that? When it's more than 4 digits (I think it was…), it overlaps the numbers with "Tria:"
Code: [Select]
http://www.glaciusor.byethost16.com/BoniREVAMP!.zip ===> Copypaste this

My many thanks to Glaciusor, who provided the host for the file. Thanks, Glaci!

Aye, we already discussed about that. Easily fixed in the next version.
Also, another dear friend made a nice improvement to the NPC trade window.
So it is about time for an update soon.

As some of you may have noticed, the widgets contained in the BoniMods
need two minor modifications to load with the client of version 0.5.7.

To fix this, you can simply pick the two files contained in this patch (http://www.ligh.de/PlaneShift/BoniMods/BoniMods.patch.0.5.7.zip)
and pack them into your ~PlaneshiftInstall/art/skins/BoniSkins.2.5.zip,
or into any other skin you were using with those BoniWidgets.
Credit goes to Mishka for arranging the buttons in the containers window
before I found the time to take a closer look at them.

There is also a patched whole file to replace the BoniSkins.2.5.zip with: http://www.ligh.de/PlaneShift/BoniMods/BoniSkins.2.5.7.zip

Thanks LigH for saving me some work.

And thanks Boni for giving creds. You know I'm always there if you need some help. I'm also working hard on trying to improve your already good mods.

Time for a little Update to version 2.6, at least for the Skin. Thanks to Neeno, the BoniSkins support a preview in PSlaunch, and some more smaller things have been fixed.

I would like to draw your attention to some major updates related to this topic.
First of all, the spelling for all mods in this collection will be changed to BoNeeMods.
I think this is well justified, since in the meanwhile, Neeno contributed more to the skins and widgets than I did. Also, his feedback and suggestions were highly appreciated for the other mods listed here.
In addition, he worked on another interesting, related project he is going to publish soon.

"So what are the updates now?", you say. I will edit this topics header soon. We do have some new fanart and utilites that will get their seperate topics today for you to leave your comments.

With the release of PlaneShift 0.5.8, our SVN/dev-Version of the BoNeeSkins and Widgets is now the stable version to use. It corresponds to the BoNeeSkins2.7 linked in this topics header.

Sure, Mishka.
My hasty workaround to use the BoNeeSkin with 0.5.9 was just to remove the help.xml and dialog.xml.

A little heads up, there have been minor changes to the UI which you might need to correct for in your UI. New config option pages, extra content to the information window. I mention this as the release is coming up so you can be ready for it.

Then the Hammers will certainly need these details too, for their TWH skin.

@LigH: For me it was only the InfoWindow which needed adjustments (if i didn't miss something  ;))

Evaraj is the one who edits it... He may have to adjust his configuration tool for it as well.

Very nice, Neeno ... and well timed as usual.

And thanks for the clue, Venalan. By the way, nice to see another new skin (scholar).

A little heads up, there will be an "attack book" icon added to the client tool bar in the next release so you'll need a new icon and 'AttackButton' added to the imagelist.xml or you will end up with a gap in the tool bar. I also tested your latest (BoNeeSkin v2.8.6) skin and it caused my dev complied client to crash, might be something to look into for the next release.

Another update, there are changes to containerdesc.xml for the item renaming. You must add these or the client will crash when updated. I've just been updating the skins I've made to fix this.

Is anyone still using this skin?  Will it be updated for the latest release of PS .65?  I'm trying to use the Attack Book and it does not seem to be working.

Yes, it is known issue, and I'm sure Neeno will fix this when he finds some time for that. For now, the best you can do is make shortcuts for the attack moves, either manually (/queue <attackname>) or by copying shortcuts created using drag-and-drop with the regular client.
Also, Neeno has actually managed to compile OSX binaries, which will certainly be published with his next release.

The current version should work with the PS 0.6.5 client.
Who is using PSExtended: Please be patient.

How do I install this?
Title: Re: BoNeeMods
Post by: Bonifarzia on September 02, 2016, 06:40:17 am
Depends on which mods you would like to use. It's all documented on the greatshift site, as linked in Neeno's and my signature.

- PSExtended (http://207.244.96.64/PlaneShift/smf/index.php?topic=40421.0) is a big client mod with lots of extras, you'll find installers for win and mac, and tarballs for linux and mac

- BoNeeSkin (without PSExtended) are just a gui textures, and can be used like any other skin, i.e. put the zip in ~PlaneshiftInstall/art/skins and select it via the launcher.

- BoNeeMaterials are custom textures and best used with the mod loader, which is included in PSextended.

Hope that helps.
