Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

This is what happens when the guy painting the road lines is drunk.

                                                                                      :ban: :ban:
Was pretty easy to do, got a nice base from a texture cd (think it was a wall photograph).
Got the contrast evenly spread out by clonestamping.
Added a light noise layer as overlay with a low opacity.
Added a little bit of color (light brown) againi on overlay with a low opacity.
Painted the (straight)lines in, made a selection on the original photo, inverted that selection and deleted parts of the lines with that.
Got drunk, but only HALFWAY!
Liquified it to make the lines whobbly.
Painted some cracks on the sides on an overlay layer.

In the meantime, i was constantly checking in max if the tiling went right.

I'll upload the psd later tonight...

I'm not sure about photoshop but in The Gimp there is a quick plugin (called tinytile I think) that lets me tile it as many times as I want on any size just to see how the tiling looks so that I don't need to open an outside program like blender to doublecheck tiling.  Or is there an added advantage to using an outside program?

Sure there is, you can check it with different forms of lighting, vertex paint, other texture you use in your level etc. And it's gonna end up in a 3d program anyway. So if you're not really short on memory there's no excuse not to put it in a 3d program right away :)

P.S. I did find a tile viewer which looks okish (AMP tile viewer). Guess it's nice when you want to check your tiling and you don't wanna start a 3d program.

P.S.S. Just to clearify we're talking about the same thing here, I'm not talking about making texture seamless, but more about the repetition of patterns.
(If you want to know what i mean, go stand on a grassy plain in WoW ;)
