Forum and Website Discussions / Evaluating PS by votings?
« on: July 05, 2007, 03:09:18 am »
Wouldn't it be usefull to have an own "Votings"-board below General Discussion, where players are able to vote about things  like  "Items you'd like to see"?

The difficulty will be to get quaiity based questions and results, cause we have several views of:
  • Different types of Devs
  • Different types of Players
  • People, aren't knowing what they are doing here :)
so it should (maybe) be strictly moderated with e.g.
  • setting "Reply only" to "On" by board defintion
  • Queuing vote requests in a single thread
  • Access only to higher "Post count based groups"

What is the sence of this?
The primary goal is not to answer players questions, but to give Devs a better and faster notion about what players want to have.

These are only a few ideas. On suggestions I am curious. :)

Examples for "Your opinion about":

Wish list / Dialog Window Tabs needs reorder?
« on: July 04, 2007, 08:24:17 am »
The current "Dialog Window" has following "Tabs":
Main | NPC | Tell | Guild | Group | Auction | System | Help

wouldn't it be usefull to split the Main into Global and Public like
Global | Public | NPC | Tell | Guild | Group | Auction | System | Help

cause either:
  • To much infromation is spooled in the Main Tab
  • Or, if you switch off the appearnace of this info in Main (via Options) you have to toggle often between Tabs
  • You have to scroll a lot
But all in common: You are slowed down in RP-performace. Aren't you?

Complaint Department / Continuing Date & Time?
« on: July 02, 2007, 02:09:51 pm »
Time measurement InGame is six times faster than in RealLife.

InGameRealLife
1 hour10 minutes
6 hour1 hour
1 day4 hours
6 days1 day

But how many days has a week?
Does it have 6 days? That would be easy for calculation cause it is a day in RL.

How long is a month?
Each month (IG) has 32 days.

How long is a year?
An InGame year has 10 month and each month 32 days. So, a year has 320 days.
This corresponds to 53 1/3 days RL. A year (RL) has nearly 7 years (IG) (365*6/320=6,84375).

But:
Each Char is created in year 750 and no increase of dates occurs.

Maybe a Voting (Poll) would be nice like:
Quote
Do we need to measure Date and Time?
Yes
No
Only time
Only date
No opinion

General Discussion / Languages of the different races?
« on: March 01, 2007, 12:38:12 pm »
Following to http://pswiki.xordan.com/ there should be different languages for
    * Xacha
    * Ylian
    * Nolthrir
    * Dermorian
    * Stonebreaker
    * Hammerwielder
    * Lemur
    * Kran
    * Diaboli
    * Enkidukai
    * Klyros
    * Ynnwn
,but didn't have some of them the same roots? Such as Nolthrir and Dermorian, which are both elves. And since Ynnwn are crossed between Elves and Diaboli, do they gave something in common?

[
I played some days with the Tolkin's elven language and found, that it colorizes the RP a lot. Do we want an artifical language, which could be build with tools like from http://www.langmaker.com/db/Main_Page, or do we preferr the common english one?
Another importand question I have: "Is Tolkin to OOC?"

I would really like to hear some opinions.
Diola lle as the Elve says for Thank you

In-Game Roleplay Events / Kenusha has died full of pain
« on: February 21, 2007, 05:33:50 am »
Kenusha, the sweet Darkness Kenusha, came from Kadaikos a long time ago. She had a lot of trouble and pain whole her life, cause of a dangerous twin named Ahsunek. She was the most friendly and warmhearted Diabola I've ever met and I'm sure I will never meet one like her again.

She died in my arms this morning at the lake near the chess playing guys. I will call this lake furthermore "Lake Lagrimas de Kenusha". And if you taste from this water: it's salty. She dropped a lot of tears in the past.

Quote
Kenusha whisperes: "Quantus! Help me! The power of life is leaving my body and soul... ...the pain and desperation is hitting my heart in pieces ... I can't hold it any longer. Please, please, tell my friends that...."
Her voice breaks and her hand stretches to catch some help. But to late. Her Flame leaves her body and she dies.
Quantus gives Kenusha a last kiss. Then he gave her body to "Lake Lagrima".
Full of tears he says: "I will remember you forever, sweet Darkness Kenusha. Promised.". Then he felt in silence.

My lovely Kenusha died cause of a broken heart. Broken from love? No, not from love. Her pain was caused by some stalking guys. These destroyed the freedom she needed to life here.

General Discussion / What shall we do with an OOC penetrating guy?
« on: January 31, 2007, 06:52:54 am »
Example Case:
A noob just entered my guild, asked some questions and walked silently his way.

In the middle of the night, as noone of us where there, he walked to Hydlaa Placa and shouted there in a very bad OOC manner. I can't tell here what exactly, cause it was insulting and not youth-free. Indeed so strong, that the "Outlaws" would be shocked and are hiding their children :)

As I got the chance to get the person by talking to him, but he said: "He loves this and will do it further on with other chars, maybe".

I'm not in worry about the reputation of my guild, cause I've got the chance to talk with the people around him. In fact they contacted me several times and while the duration of nearly a week.
But I'm really in concern about younger people which are living here.

What shall I do now? A petition I had wrote was silently deleted? Accept this?

I would really like the calendar module enabled (like http://peacemaker.yliakum.de/index.php?action=calendar) for a better planning and orientation of events as marriages, roleplays and so on.

In-Game Roleplay Events / "H okyba da Ojaveda" & "Dermorian Lords"

After the glorious battle and much honour on both sides there was a peacefull next morning. All Enkidukais are freed now.
But I'm asking myself and you: "Is this the end of slavery or are there some enslavers left? How does it go further on?"

Does anyone have access to this article and would able to write a summary?

Cause often asked InGame there is a solution which works for many people:

If your GeForce graphics card is giving you weird text corruption issues, try this:

1.)
Edit the file data/config/r3dopengl.cfg with and add these lines:
Video.OpenGL.UseExtension.GL_ARB_texture_rectangle = false
Video.OpenGL.UseExtension.GL_NV_texture_rectangle = false

2.)
What you can try is to open the psclient.cfg file with a text editor and locate the following lines at the end of the file:
Video.OpenGL.UseExtension.GL_EXT_texture_rectangle = false
Video.OpenGL.UseExtension.GL_ARB_texture_rectangle = false
Video.OpenGL.UseExtension.GL_NV_texture_rectangle = false
Then add ";" to the beginning of these lines like here:
;Video.OpenGL.UseExtension.GL_EXT_texture_rectangle = false
;Video.OpenGL.UseExtension.GL_ARB_texture_rectangle = false
;Video.OpenGL.UseExtension.GL_NV_texture_rectangle = false
Then try again if it makes any difference

3.)
Try to use "Dynamic follow" and no other camera view

4.)
Don't use full screen mode

5.)
Read http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=21503.0

Hope this helps. Don't know why. I Don't knnow how. I'm using ATI :)

Guilds Forum / [GUILD] The "Knights of the Crystal"
« on: November 19, 2006, 03:32:21 am »
The "Knights of the Crystal" are fighting for "Law and Order". We are restrictied internally to German speaking Players.

Although we are "Lawfull good", we don't hesitate to use weapons and fight against the bad ones.

The "Knights of the Crystal" are leaded by Quantus
Alignment: Lawfull Good
Goal: Fighting for Law and Order
http://knights.yliakum.de/

Background:
The "Knights of the Crystal" was founded in the end of october 2006.

The "Knights of the Crystal" is a german speaking guild, which advocates for law and order. This means, they are indeed peaceloving but aren't afraid of fighting, if their own life, the life of their friends or the life of any peaceful citizen of Yliakum is threatened.

Not all members are fighters. Also mages, quester, artists and crafters are gladly viewed and will be hold in respect.

Among each other they speak [german] and in public [english].

Background:

We developed from a motley crowd of skilled fighters, which wanted to stand for law and order. If necessary with the force of arms.
For this purpose nearly a dozen fighters join forces. These come from other guilds, but there were lone fighters too, which agreed to the basic idea of an independently acting guild.
Independence is one of the foundation walls of our philosophy!

The first great aim of the guild was the liberation of the slaves, which meanwhile successfully was fought out in the historical battle in Ojaveda.

Within the peaceful aftermath, our fighter bethought to crafting and other abilities, so that we are a guild with the best crafters and traders of Yliakum today.
Therefore we are a very proud community, which doesn't hesitate for a long time when being attacked with words or weapons, to strike out for a hard retaliation.

Civaltries of a knight:

* Loyalty - The loyalty, as the highest civaltry, is the faithfullness of a knight to his guild and Yliakum, which honours the truthful liegeman.
* Honour - The honour of a knight is his untouchable property. He has to save it with words and doings and the very honour it shall be, which differs him from the common.
* Bravery - The bravery is the naturally doing of a knight. He never shows fear of his combatant, he never shies away from danger and faces up to the enemies of his honour and Yliakum filled with courage.
* Fortyfiedness - The knight is the backup of the guild and therefore always disposed in armor and weapon when the guildmaster calls for fight.
* Sincerity - Sincere should be the knight lordly and good in all his words and doings. Falsehood and treachery should be hatefully to him, repayment for this should be his ambition.
* Justice - Every knight should practice justice to everyone, no matter which gender and which race. Justice should  lead him and justice he brings to the land and the folk.
* Humility - Humility suits to the knight, because humility is the master of mischief, and the knight shall never become coltish. He shall show humility to his stand, his civaltry, to the ladies and the superiors, to the folk and his followers.

Ranks:

Ranks are a honorary title. They reflect the experience in Yliakum. The authorizations inside of the guild are quiet smooth, that means from the rank of a knight, all essential rights are available.

The ranks of page and knave are testing ranks. In this position it's allowed to make some little mistakes.

The knight is an adequate member of the guild and for this reason bound to the guilds duties. Therefore you get the guild-ring when promoting to a knight.

The Knight, Master and Lord of the Order or of the Realm are equal members with the same right to vote.

Entering procedure:

Citizens of Yliakum, who want to join us as a member, can contact any member of our guild. We will make a group as fast as possible, to discuss the essential things before affiliate you. This should require half an hour [RL].

The entering criterions are not very hard, but nevertheless we can't affiliate everyone. So don't be dissapointed, but sometimes people don't match to each other.

Promotions:

Promotions normally take place once in a month at our guild-meeting in the Secret Garden.
A promotion can be proposed from the members.

Of course there are guild-points [GP] too.
How can I get guild-points?
For example in joining a roleplay [RP]. Therefore you get 1 GP / day. For organizing a RP you get 2 GP / day. Good improvisational guild-chat is assessed as RP and will be rewarded with 1 GP.

The higher you are in your rank, the difficult is getting a GP.

Leaving the guild:

Everyone can leave the guild everytime and it's not necessary to give reasons.

An "automatically" leaving is accomplished once in a month. Every member with an inactivity of more than one month will be reduced in one rank. If the rank of a page is reached, the GP will be reduced every month until there are none left over. After this an automatically "guild-remove" is accomplished.

Open-Source-Game PlaneShift

For all Linux loving people. who will enjoy some time with a Game, here's a Tip:
The Open-Source-MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Game) PlaneShift is a "Roleplaying Game", where the different characters are moving through a medivial fantasy world, which is called Yliakum. This world is well designed and huge enough for exploring a while.

The main goal of the current development ist the implemantation of a well working crafting system. This makes you able to produce goods for selling and exchanging. Magic and Combat are allready working in a very nice manner.
The game is based on the Open-Source 3D-framework CrystalSpace. Although PlaneShift is currently in an official pre-release it's possible to play it nearly as a bought game.
As requirements for playing: 1GHz CPU, 512MB RAM and a typical grafics-card is the minimum.

PlaneShift may be run with Linux, MacOS X and Windows. Interesting is PlaneShift in 3 typical ways:
- Just for enjoying, especially for geeks
- For C-Programmers for exploring the Code
- As an active Programmer to join the development

PlaneShift is free to play and to use.

In-Game Roleplay Events / Relay Race planned
« on: February 19, 2006, 10:14:11 am »
As descibed on: http://yliakum.de/node/69

It should work like this:

- It will be started with 2 teams of 4 persons.
- The first runner will get an item (relay)
- This should be brought to Change1, from there to Change2, Change3 and to Finish.
- The Change is allowed by Dropping&PickUp or Trade
- The Race is finished when the Item is dropped behind the Finish-Line.

There will be no starting-fee! Prices are given from \"Air-Glyph\" upwards.
(Many of very good prices where lost through the wipe).

We (me Quantus) plan to let this part of a small eastern Olympics.

I woul like to know, if somone is intersted in games like this?
