To the great Dwarfs of The Way...

I'm gladdened to see something that was started so long ago (17 years ago?) is still going

I may come back into the game one day

General Discussion / Re: You Might Be An Oldbie If...

It's quite possible. Students like Erebey never heard of Lordbug or Arka (KS). Pathseekers of the Hammer never heard of Apis or Zwenze, even Cilay is "only" a quest legend now... and who remembers Easton, Verrliit, and the Sworn Council of Yliakum?
Eek, I feel old...

* Esanor Serich jumps in joy and thinks quietly:

\\o// Apis Bullneck is coming back from the Stone Labyrinths! We'll have to refill our barrels!

I'll try to discover if your account is not yet lost due to the long absence. If it is still present, we will probably be able to give you access again. But first, come back home.

Thanks for looking LigH

Some of you might remember me for a few years ago. I played Apis, the first guild master of The Way of The Hammer.

Man that was some time ago. Just popping in to say hi and see who is still around.

I cant seem to remember my login for Apis so at the moment I wont be bringing him back to PS

one/ bug fix. insert some line breaks into the apt-get as some of us don't use the GUI to paste into a text file and long lines tend to get broken, and it makes it easer to read (all ways a good thing).

change:
Code: [Select]
echo "Getting packages..."
sudo apt-get --assume-yes install libjpeg62-dev blender x11proto-gl-dev autoconf jam bison flex-old automake1.9 libcurl4-openssl-dev libmng-dev libmikmod2-dev libogg-dev libvorbis-dev zlib1g-dev libpng12-dev build-essential libtool libglu1-mesa-dev libglu1-xorg-dev xserver-xorg-dev libxt-dev libopenal0a libopenal-dev subversion zlibc libttf2 libfreetype6-dev libfreetype6 libasound2-dev alsa-oss libxxf86vm-dev libxext-dev x11proto-xext-dev python-imaging libboost-dev libboost-python-dev libxerces27-dev libode0-dev swig libpcre3-dev

if [ $? -ne "0" ] ; then

to:
Code: [Select]
echo "Getting packages..."
sudo apt-get --assume-yes install libjpeg62-dev blender x11proto-gl-dev autoconf jam bison flex-old automake1.9 libcurl4-openssl-dev libmng-dev \
libmikmod2-dev libogg-dev libvorbis-dev zlib1g-dev libpng12-dev build-essential libtool libglu1-mesa-dev libglu1-xorg-dev xserver-xorg-dev libxt-dev \
libopenal0a libopenal-dev subversion zlibc libttf2 libfreetype6-dev libfreetype6 libasound2-dev alsa-oss libxxf86vm-dev libxext-dev x11proto-xext-dev \
python-imaging libboost-dev libboost-python-dev libxerces27-dev libode0-dev swig libpcre3-dev

if [ $? -ne "0" ] ; then

two/ bug fix. my install od blender has  its .blender/scripts/bpymodules linked
Code: [Select]
/home/charles/.blender/scripts/bpymodules -> /usr/share/blender/scripts/bpymodulesthrid/ do we need to cp the .svn dirs?
forth/ it might pay to do a chmod on some of tthe copyed files.

Apis is a weapons merchant and as such has had to learn weapons skills and the stats to go with them, as well as stats to be a weapons merchant, ie - strength, to carry two large leather bags of merchandise.

these were gained mostly by PLing. Is this IC or OOC? Probably a bit of both.

What I hate about the game mechanics is making a merchant do 'quests' - petty little jobs for people (NPCs) that are too lazy to walk to the next town or are so forgetful that they loose everything...

Apis, as a successful merchant (before one one of the DB cleans left him almost broke and with no merchandise), could afford to buy things like the glyphs from quests and winch access. Why does he have to do OOC running around to gain IC use of these things?

Wish list / Re: Goverment Campain in hydlaa
« on: September 05, 2008, 07:22:09 pm »
there wont be an official player government in PS but there have been councils see the Sworn Council of Yliakum for one, and there is no reason that a voted council could exist - but you would need a good IC reason for forming one.

You will/would find that running said election and then forming a council very hard work and would take much more effort to keep 'stable' than a guild would. Everyone would come with differing ideas and would want them given equal weight.

I know that the SCoY was hard to keep to agendas in their meetings and that was just guild elders...

What ever happened to SCoY?

The way I read it was the threads were locked when people started getting abusive to the devs and/or mods. I think that that is fair enough.
I almost felt ashamed of the community at some points, there is no need to talk like that to anyone, especially people that make your fun time fun by producing PS for us.

Why do you need to install the server edition?
It only comes down to the choice of packages in the end.
Admittedly I would have an other choice than ubuntu, but ubuntu is not all bad ;)
