Technical Help: Problems BEFORE entering the game / Old account

Hello,

I had made an account in Planeshift in 2002, and played the game, but then didn't anymore until now.

Unfortunately I don't remember my game account details from back then, but did remember this forum account. Logically, my old game account would either be the email address of my forum account or the username of it, but that doesn't seem to work...

Should accounts made in 2002 in the still work today, or do I have to make a new one?

Out of mysery I made a new account in game. But if I try to name my character as my first name, it says that this name is banned. My first name is totally not offensive, why is it banned?

Hello,

before I sign up for the newsletter, I\'d like to make sure if coollist doesn\'t subscribe my email address to spam lists (like gain 10 inches and university diploma stuff)?  Coollists privacy policy doesn\'t tell this clearly, but it tells something about shopping carts and such so I\'m almost certain that it will send spam mail.

Did anyone who subscribed to it receive a spam message?

I don\'t know if this is original, probably not :p

But I\'d really like it if there were spell books and cooking books in the game

Spell books contain some combinations of words you have to pronounce (type in the console) to cast spells or to add to existing spells to upgrade them (but you still need to find better combinations or even secret words yourself).

Cooking books contain recepies for potions (but you still have to try to mix other ingredients in it to find out if that can make an even better potion).

Of course, the disadvantage is that fansites will probably put all these books on their site so you people who don\'t have the book will know them as well, but for honest people this feature can still be enjoyable.

Hello,

planeshift has always worked for me, until today :(

Whenever I try to connect I get a message \"server dropped us for unknown reason\".

Why is this?  I never did any bad behaviour, and it used to work, it\'s since today, I tried multiple times at different hours.

It would be cool if, in first person, you could turn and look around with the mouse.
I also hope we\'ll be able to turn around much quicker than now, currently it takes ages to make a 180? turn, even with shift pressed.

Wish list / My idea about PKing

I know that there will be no PKing in PlaneShift, but I\'d like to post my idea anyway :)

If I would make a MMORPG (which I can\'t), I would have added PKing to it.  The rule is simple: you can PK everywhere, except in guarded cities and on guarded roads, if you try to PK there, guards that are much stronger than you will attack you.

If you are very strong and kill a newbie, you\'ll LOSE experience instead of gain it (to avoid people PKing for fun).  If you kill someone a little less strong than you, or stronger, you gain experience.

You should be able to attack someone in group, for example 5 n00bs together could kill one strong guy.

If you lost enough health in a battle, and then succesfully escape or run away, you can\'t be attacked again by anyone for 5 mins.

And, some people can carry a \"non PK\" certificate that will expire at a certain date.  For example the king can give such a cert to someone who has to do an important quest and the king doesn\'t want PKers to interrupt.

And there should be holy places, where nobody can fight, not even against monsters.  These are places like churches, temples and the \"holy n00b city\".

General Discussion / I fell through the BOTTOM floor!!!

Ok this is not just another \"help I fell through floor\" post.  I know perfectly how to fall through floor: just wait for some lag and walk through some stairs.  Then you fall on an ugly, big, grey floor below the city.

But what I did (accidently) is legendary: I fell through this bottom floor!

Here\'s what happened: I was falling down to the grey floor below the city, and while I fell down, there was lag again.  So somehow I kept falling, and I fell below the bottom floor.

However, there wasn\'t a lot to see down there.  Actually, all I saw was some swapping between two framebuffers from my screen, because the world is empty there so there\'s nothing to draw.

Will there be a small map, like in RS, or do we have to find maps first, if there are any?  Is there a compass for everyone or is it an expensive item?  Do you get your position for free or do you need a sextant?

I wouldn\'t want the inventory to be too small, 25 spots should do if your equipped stuff doesn\'t count in there.

I think that equipped items shouldn\'t take a spot in your inventory (if you wear an armor, it doesn\'t take a spot in your backpack right?).

Small things like leaves and such should be pileable, and potions too.

For keys there should exist key rings (there could be even many different sort of key rings for collectors :p ) so you can attach all your keys to that so all your keys together take only one inventory spot.

For money there could be a seperate inventory, especially if there are different types of coins.  So it\'s as if you put coins in your purse and other items in your backpack.

And, it should be impossible for thieves to steal things from your inventory :p

I\'m a bit worried about the client size: 200-300 MB according to the FAQ?  Or do I really have to read it as Mb which would mean megabit? ;)
Isn\'t it possible to reduce the size by using texture compression methods and so on?
I do have cable, but 200-300MB still sounds like huge to me, especially if I compare it to RuneScape, which is less than a MB.  Also, for people with ISDN or less it\'ll hardly be downloadable...

I mean, will people be rewarded if they help other people, does fighting in a party with newbies give more experience, and will there be done something to reduce the number of ego?stic players (for example players that don\'t want other people into go to \"their\" graveyard with \"their\" zombies?)

A MMORPG is supposed to be a multiplayer game, and if someone doesn\'t like other people to attack monsters he thinks are owned by him, then he better plays a single player game I think.

And if during the beta it appears that there are some ways for players to get ego?stic, will there be done something about it?

This is not really a forum request, but a site request.

It\'s about the Tour of the City flash movie: the texts about Background and Races scrolls much too fast on my computer, I can hardly read what it\'s saying.  Could the moving text be made to move slower, or could you please add a scrollbar to it?  Or, alternatively, post the full text here or put it on a html page ;)

I\'ve seen old posts and, well, I\'d say: don\'t ever again say you\'ll release the demo this month or in a few days, it\'s useless :p

I\'m waiting patiently, no problem here, but guys, just say you\'ll release it next year and you might be able to release the demo earlier than expected!
