Segmentation Fault in First Update
« on: April 12, 2007, 09:05:27 am »
I had planeshift installed before and previously it worked, except I couldn't connect to any servers (okay problem for a linux mmorpg I said). This week, I get the gaming itch and try to update Planeshift (it had been months, you guys had to have updated something) and after trying to work it just... closes. I don't think anything of it, just that maybe I'm so far back on my updates I need to reinstall it. So that's what I do. But... the problem's still there, and now that I've just installed it I know it's a problem, I can't brush it aside like I normally do with issues on my computer. :)

So I installed it (chmod +x the bin, chmod 777 /opt, went through installer, first ran ./updater) The Updater visually does the same thing as last time (the first two mirrors I think just gave me nothing and then it closes) and this is what the terminal says.

Maybe it's an old problem or something, but I've been dying to try out  your game. :(

I'm on Ubuntu Edgy (not for long w00t!) on a toshiba laptop with an intel video card. Though Beryl-manager was running in the background, I was using the metacity window manager for stability.

Directions for the Linux download say don't run the updater :) ... so reinstall and then... don't run the updater.

Thanks darling! (also thanks to the #planeshift channel post stalkers! :) )

This is the linux guide I used, which is linked right about the linux download. Maybe a link to "updater status" page could help. :)

On another note, the uninstaller worked better in this version than the last version. Good job! :)
