My new devotion.
« on: February 23, 2006, 09:58:10 pm »
Well as many of you know I\'ve been...absent....again.....for a while.  It\'s mainlyschool.  Lots and lots of school.  So I figured I create a thread to present what was able to drag me from PS.

(BTW I\'m a Computer Animation major)

I don\'t feel like sifting through all my projects so I\'ll just post the most resent pics.

This is my Shading and Lighting class Final Project, it\'s still a work in progress.  Due tomorrow actually :|

All made in Maya 7.  It still needs a lot of work on it though.  Mainly in the texturing.

And thank you both ^^

Maya :C~~

Some atmospheric fog may be an interesting addition, though it\'d mess with the view and thus the project guidelines, no doubt. Maybe once you\'re free to mess around freely. And have dozens of other projects. And forget about everything you\'ve previously ever made.

Have you ever played around in Lightwave, by chance?

Actually I can do with it whatever I want.  I am going to add some thin fog above the water.  I also need to retexture the hull of the ship as well as the sails.

I also need to add some sky reflections in the water to pull the sails out of the background.

Nope never used Lightwave before.

Hm, I was curious how it compared to other 3D apps. How long did this baby take so far, anywho?

Hmmmm altogether I\'d say about 4 hours to model, 4 to texture, and 4 to light.

I want to see a higher quality render! Turn AA up and let\'s see a big image!.

I like the concept but I see a couple of issues which i\'m sure you\'ve noted seeing as you\'re ten times more experiened than me.

the sails look pretty flat, which I assume you\'ll remedy when you retexture it.

The way you have the sails fully spread out implies that it\'s moving, I\'d expect to see a trail coming out from behind it.

Also how choppy is the water supposed to be? Right now it doesn\'t look very realistic.  Judging by the distortions it looks like there are waves.
