Not able to send private messages

I've never been able to send private messages, and I've been on this forum for years. I do not know why I can't send private messages. I don't think this is any kind of punishment. Any ideas what might have caused this?

Because you need 10 posts to do it.
It's to prevent private message from spam bots.
